Pros: City inn Hotel at Taichung Station is just 2 minutes walk from Taichung Station. 5 minutes walk from Taichung bus terminal. A very convenient location with convenience shops right beside the hotel. There are bakery shop along the hotel. Toroko Mall is just opposite the hotel ( 7 minutes walk ). The staff are very friendly. They helped us to call taxi. The staff are quick in responding to our request. The hotel is new and has a lobby area and a small section for customer to use the computer for surfing online. Excellent Service ! 25mins drive to Fengjia Night Market.

Water dispenser is also available in the property, don't have to buy bottled water.

Pros: The location is great : walking distance to the Taichung Train Station ( only abt 3 minutes ) and also fairly near the City Centre of Taichung. The staff were very profession yet pleasant, helpful and warm ( without being overly friendly, just the right subtle balance ). Our room ( which caters to 4 guests ) is spacious enough for us ( me, hubby and adult son ) and very plesant and clean. The design of the bathroom is very neat ( just a shower area, no bath tub but that is not a problem at all for us ) and the flooring is appropriately non-slip. We felt very safe and comfortable in the bathroom. The gym has a Treadmill, an Elliptical machine, a Cycling machine, and some dumb bells for independant free weights exercise. There is a laundry room which has 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, which guests can use for free. And there is a very nice lounge area just off the main lobby, where guests can relax on the sofa, or sit at small round tables to chat and catch up with one another. Finally, just next door to the hotel is a Family Mart, where we could get snacks and drinks any time at our convenience. Overall, we had an extremely pleasant stay at 53 Hotel Taichung. THANK YOU !

Pros: My friend and I travelled to Taichung for the short holidays and the hotel had welcomed us with excellent facilities and services. The hotel was very central, literally on the left hand-side when walking out of Taichung main station. We were close to many attractions and landscapes. The main bus stops were only minutes walk from the hotel. Good breakfast with lots of options changing from day-to-day. Lots of convenient stores around. In general the hotel were clean and well maintained. Common facilities were always spotless. My friend was especially impressed with free tea and lemon water placed in the lobby, which was exactly what we needed to refresh after being dehydrated under the sun. Room facilities were more than enough for a comfortable stay. The staff were very attentive to our needs and requests. Kudos to the team for making our trip memorable.

The hotel was very central, literally on the left hand-side when walking out of Taichung main station. We were close to many attractions and landscapes. The main bus stops were only minutes walk from the hotel. Good breakfast with lots of options changing from day-to-day. Lots of convenient stores around. In general the hotel were clean and well maintained. Common facilities were always spotless. My friend was especially impressed with free tea and lemon water placed in the lobby, which was exactly what we needed to refresh after being dehydrated under the sun. Room facilities were more than enough for a comfortable stay. The staff were very attentive to our needs and requests. Kudos to the team for making our trip memorable.

The first time, we got a room facing the train station. the bed was slightly hard and when we asked for extra pillows, it took some time to get delivered. breakfast was the same everyday. The second time, the experience was worse, the luggage that was deposited was lost in their storage room. they even requested I personally find it myself without switching on the lights. it was so dark. we got a room that was facing another building and quite a distance from the lift. when we reach level 5, there was insufficient signage that our room 524 could be accessed to the other building. The counter didnt inform us about it too. We were confused when the lift reached level 5 and it shows there are rooms till 520 only. When we enter the room, the first thing we noticed was the stale smell but it was fine after we open the windows to let the air out. the bathroom design was a wet bathroom design. after showering, the whole place would be wet. we didn't have a dry place to place our items.

Cons: They charged me twice: first, they ran my debit card before we got in the hotel for the whole amount of 3,781 TWD (2-night stay); then, when we got in the hotel, they asked us to pay again for the same amount. They said the first one was a “deposit” but until now I haven’t received my money back. They think that charging customers like this is “normal” and they just take it lightly. Besides, it wasn’t stated in the booking page that they will do this. Pre-auth, yes, but for the entire amount? Why dont you just consider that as a payment, and not ask your customers to pay twice! The fact that you’re just shrugging this comment off means that you don’t really care about people staying in your property. Some people work hard for their money you know.

Salad spread is not fresh and even with rotten tomato, yogurt is contained in a big bowl opened up to the environment. I understand that you have limited seats for your guests for breakfast, but we prefer to know beforehand that maybe you can let us know if there is a limit on the time to use our breakfast but not approaching us to make us feel being chased and ask us if we still have friends coming to join us when we are enjoying a slow breakfast to start our day, the approach totally ruin our comfortable breakfast time.

Cons: One of the things we didn't like this hotel was their bathroom. It didn't look like very clean. The wall in the bathroom looked a bit mouldy. But we didn't really scrutinise the wall. The housekeeper (maid) who worked on Sunday didn't seem to like her job. She randomly scattered the supplies on top of the towels. She didn't provide us a rug for the shower and a new roll of toilet paper, while the one on the rack was running thin. For a couple of nights, in the hall way and through the central AC system, there was some smell that seemed to be from smoking. However, it didn't really last long. In general, the ceiling in the hotel is quite low. Therefore, even for us who are not very tall, it was be a bit difficult while standing in the shower, which is actually in the bathtub.

Cons: I was extremely disappointed as a returned customer. My impression of last stay was very good that's why I chose it again. It was two years ago. The whole hotel like went down, dirty carpet, unclean bathroom, very small room (The same type I ordered two years ago). I have to say I would not recommend. As it needs upgrade as well as train their staff with better customer service. No greeting even face in front of you. The breakfast in the restaurant do not taste good either. The whole experience is very disappointing.

Pros: Room is spacious and clean. Bed is comfortable. Staffs are nice. Good variety of food for breakfast. No frill hotel stay that meets all the needs for us.
Cons: Shower temperature fluctuate when you are showering. No international wall plugs and no bedside plugs. Location is a bit farther off the station then it looks on the map but it is on a quieter street.

Pros: It was a quiet room. The bus stop is very near. I can use a LAN cable for the internet access. I was able to request a travel adapter (after a 100 TWD deposit).

Pros: The front desk staff were nice. The room was a good size for the money.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable. It’s just two single beds clipped together, but it doesn’t really work. The breakfast was the worst hotel breakfast I’ve had in a long time and the staff didn’t refill the knives when they ran out, or the jam, or the fruit, or the food - the breakfast staff were poor and not friendly. There wasn’t a good Western breakfast or a good Taiwanese breakfast but that horrible cross of Taiwanese-style-Western-food i.e. terrible sandwiches, dry and salty pasta and chicken nuggets. Some people must like that I guess.

Cons: Lack of convenience stores nearby. Poor service staff attitude which might have resulted from hotel policies - each room only comes with two pillows & could only add one more, which was uncomfortable for my pregnant Wife. Receptionist staff also refused to help us make a local call for a reservation and insisted that we had to go to a convenience store, stating that it’s hotel policy. This is hardly understandable as most hotels are able to assist with such reservations. Parking lots are limited. During our whole stay, we had to park at the shared Carpark located 200m away and walk back despite coming back at 9pm. Towels were worn out and thin. Bed was hard, pillow was soft. Fair stay given the price. But I wouldn’t highly recommend.

Cons: The bathroom and toilet smell so bad and in the shower there are a ton of hairs District is provably one of the poorer ones, a lot of prostitutes and homeless people in the evening near to the hostel

Cons: I arrived early hence I left my bag at their storage area. It rained heavily that evening. When I returned back to the hostel, I realised the storage area where my bag was left is flooded with water. The bottom of my bag was drenched! I had my laptop inside. The thing I am the most displeased about was that the storage area is just right in front of the reception area. They totally noticed the area was wet and didnt even bother to shift all the luggage and bag to a drier area. The staffs definitely could use some initiative. I felt that the staffs were all quite curt and unhelpful too.
