Pros: This is a bed and breakfast in a large older house in a leafy suburb of Seattle. This is a well maintained classic old house full of original art and a very nice collection of antique furniture. The owner is a former Russian journalist who spends a lot of her time writing in her study/library. Think of it like staying overnight at the grand house of some educated bohemian friends.
The neighborhood is very quiet, the house is next to an Olmstead park. You'll feel pretty far from downtown - but its just a short taxi ride from downtown - 15 minutes and $10-15.
I stayed in the the largest room - the house's former master bedroom. It has a short entry hall, to a large bedroom, with a king size bed, and a walk-in closet. It has a huge bathroom, and then a pair of french doors lead out to a huge second floor balcony with a small table and chairs overlooking the street.

Cons: I liked all of it. But some people may be put off by the relative informality of the place Not like a regular hotel at all - there is no front desk. You can easily end up in long conversations with the owner on politics, art and culture.

Cons: 1. My bathrobe had a big brown stain on the back and one of my towels smelled sour and musty
2. Breakfast was lazy (no hot options)
3. $160/night is a bit much for a room with a shared bathroom (yes, I booked it without carefully reading the description so that’s on me... but come on, when you see that price the possibility of a shared bathroom doesn’t even come to mind.)
4. The owner either has terrible taste or assumes his visitors do. One of the restaurants he recommended was a Tex Lex joint, which he catetegorozed as “ethnic” lol. Maybe he just doesn’t want to sent tourists to the places HE actually eats at? Either way, it kind of defeats the point of staying at a BnB.

Cons: There were pubic hairs in the bathtub and the bathroom was shared. Staff was nonexistent and there was no breakfast if you had to check out early you got nothing but an old bag of cookies.

Pros: I stayed with my boyfriend for 2 nights and the stay was great. We are a young couple and didn't feel out of place at all. There is a great park within walking distance right up the street with fantastic views of the city. Our hosts were ingesting people but we're lovely and very helpful.
