The hotel is well located, clean and more than enough to spend a couple of nights there. The best was the breakfast.
The receptionist at night was more focused on other stuff than performing accordingly.
Good breakfast, nice staff, comfortable room and bed, Convenient location.
Dryer was broken so was a bit inconvenient
- Safety: there was a total of 3 doors to unlock to get to our room - The neighborhood is lively even though expensive (with plenty of restaurants & bars).
- One morning, the staff listened to loud music from 8am to 1pm & didn't stop in spite of our complaints (there seems to be a patio downstairs used by the staff). We could even hear a lady sing and whistle (walls are paper thin). - Despite several reminders, they forgot to call our cab for the airport as the clerk who was supposed to work that morning didn't show up!! - Breakfast: the room is quite small and there was no available seat when we arrived, we had to stand like idiots for a couple of minutes in the middle of the room. Plus the tables aren't individual, but must be shared: be prepared for breakfast with strangers. - Breakfast was $10/person but was quite limited. - The staff wasn't nice. - Don't get fooled by the nice pictures on their website, our room was located in another building in the back and clearly it wasn't that great looking. - 3 rooms share a bathroom: OKAY, BUT there was no sink in each room unlike some pictures suggested it. - The shared bathroom is only deeply cleaned once a week, meaning that the shower is only cleaned once a week! - They provide shampoo and conditioner in the shower, but there's no liquid soap for the sink. So every time you need to use the toilet, don't forget to bring your bar of soap (not convenient at all!).
The place is very cozy. The rooms are charming, the other guests are all in the same mood (who stays in a hotel with shared bathroom?!). The breakfast was outstanding (for USA). Hayes Valley Inn sets itself clearly apart from all the rest of Amrican hotels, particularly hotel chains.
The constant noise from the ventilators in the backyard
Perfect location and spotless bathrooms!
