3,8 Mediocre
Cons: Air con turned off at 10.30pm. Great shame that as (a) there were no opening windows and (b) the toilet was in the room - as was the bathroom! A number of the fitments were loose. The reading light over the bed didn't work and the bedside control of the air conditioning (had it worked) appeared completely non functional. No lift and one had to use the station car park opposite. Not located in a particularly nice part of town although very convenient for the railway station. Nobody on duty overnight.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Central location, easy 5 minute walk to town centre and parking opposite the main entrance, would definetly stay again. Staff very helpful and friendly.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous premises and do close to main area of town.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing bed, quirky hotel, great location, clean, loved the windows to bamboo tree, sauna could be turned on if and when we wanted. Great service and very helpful receptionist!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, secure parking
Cons: Nothing really
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast OK, very friendly staff that even showed us our room.
Cons: I've expected more of a 4 star hotel. Bath, toilet and bed was in the same room but separated with 2 meter high walls - so no privacy on the toilet.
7,5 Good
Pros: Very unique interior, good breakfast, air conditioned room. You can use the parking lot of the near railway station for a fair price.
Cons: There is no separation of the bathroom/toilette and the bedroom except of a narrow, moving wooden panel. (Ie. no wall, door to close etc.) Be aware of this, if you plan a romantic stay here.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great fun rooms. Staff perfect. Funny and lovely.
Cons: Nothing. We knew it was central to the town and expected to eat out.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Alles. Outstanding. Top accommodation.
7,5 Good
Pros: Really friendly staff, warm welcome.
Cons: Big smiles, and happy faces, very friendly staff and we got the front room. But we didn't sleep. At night there there way too much light pollution while the curtains were closed. The room was also quite noisy. Lots of sounds from the building, ticking noises and a window that could not be closed. The lady at the desk was sorry and actually said when we left, "see you next time'. She just didn't care. To be honest, the room was totally unacceptable. They should have offered a big discount. We didn’t sleep well here, I hardly closed my eyes. Also the furniture is worn out which makes everything seeming old and dirty, while the place is actually very clean. I would not have booked this place if I had known they give us a room like this. The breakfast was also very poor value for money. No fresh fruits and little diversity.
Le Pelican - Charleville-Mézières - Building
2
8,3 Excellent (474 reviews)

A stay at Le Pelican places you in the heart of Charleville-Mezieres, within a 15-minute walk of Musee de l'Ardenne and Place Ducale. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast and a very stylish hotel that was in a good location with great parking.
Cons: I was a little taken back by the lack of english spoken in a hotel. I sometimes feel ignorant not knowing the language of the country I visit but then I am not having to communicate with customers. I found it really hard to find somewhere to eat an evening meal in the town.
6,3 Good
Pros: Basic clean accommodation. Polite and friendly staff.
Cons: Outside of the main/centre of town. Car park very difficult to get into.
7,5 Good
Pros: Breakfast had good coffee and multiple choices of food. Milk could be served colder for cereal. Excellent spacious and secure onsite motorcycle and car parking.
Cons: No air conditioning in room. No elevator.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendy staff, uncomplicated stay.
Cons: Nothing!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and locked garage were very good.
Cons: Surprised that I had to pay the same as a car to park my motorbike! Tea and coffee in the room would have been a nice touch.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
Cons: No plug in bathroom sink.
7,5 Good
Pros: Secure parking for motorcycles
Cons: €5 euro charge for parking a motorcycle
6,3 Good
Pros: First ever visit to Charleville Mezieries which contributed to difficulty locating the Hotel. Car parking facility was very good. Breakfast was good.
Cons: I had decided that if I found the Rail Station then I would easily find the hotel. However the signage for the station was almost non existent.

3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Not much at all
Cons: No secure parking available at this hotel. ....very misleading
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location good. Quiet. Staff helpful.
Cons: The room and the bathroom are carpeted (it says this so it wasn’t a surprise but it’s still not very pleasant to have a carpeted bathroom). The WiFi goes out every few minutes. To get it to start again you have to turn off the WiFi on your device(s) then turn it on again.
7,5 Good
Pros: Fairly basic but we where only passing through from south France so ideal for night stop off on way back to Calais .. Town isn’t anything to get too excited about
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, very clean room and bathroom. View from the window wss nice. Great location to town centre, restaurants and grocery store. The clerk couldn't initially find my booking but wss friendly and helpful - we found it eventually. Parking on the street just outside.
Cons: The radiator in the room was so hot that it was like a sauna. I tried turning the thermostat all the way tio the left and to the right but neither had an effect.
6,3 Good
Pros: Clean room, comfortable bed, central location, good wi fi.
Cons: Room was freezing cold, heater undersized, difficult inaccessible controls, no heat in bathroom, window in bathroom with no screening from adjacent rooms, hotel smelled awful, sad breakfast cold beverages
7,1 Good
Pros: Friendly welcoming staff. Familial homey hotel. Just don't expect five star treatment. But overall charming French family hotel.
Cons: You could hear the noise in the hallway. Probably depends where your room is located. Maybe they should also supply thicker bed sheets (in the winter).
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff convenient location nice rooms
7,9 Good
Pros: The location is good, there is a hairdryer, you have tea facilities, the staff is friendly and the room was clean.
Cons: There isn't an elevator and I had a 25 kg luggage that I had to carry to the 3rd floor on really narrow staircases. The WiFi is not that reliable.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location, quiet. We had the corner room on the top floor, i.e. two windows to each side. Better no paintings on the walls than ugly ones ;-) Everything fine and clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for a quite remarkable town with hidden gems for the enquiring mind. The hotel was the cheapest we stayed in on our trip but totally adequate. We spent a couple of hours on a cultural exploration and found the tour to be very pleasant around this riverside town. The tourist leaflet in the room gave us insight into the significant history of the town and encouraged us to explore! If you have a couple of hours at your disposal I would recommend you try the tourist walk!
Cons: There is no easy parking for cars but our motorcycles fitted the area opposite in full view of our bedroom window. The breakfast was sparse but adequate.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location (5m walk to Place Ducale) Plenty of parking space on the street (weekend though) Good bed and pillows Cheap
Cons: Broken down elevator
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable room & a good secure underground garage.
Cons: Nothing, all good.
7,5 Good
Pros: Under-hotel car parking was secure and access not as difficult as suggested in some reviews. The hotel staff were helpful, in reception and at breakfast. The breakfast was good and plentiful.
Cons: The room was very tiny and, bizarrely, had an over-the-bed style of table normally associated with hospitals. Eventually we realised that it would fit in the bathroom if the shower door was left open, and one of the cases could lie on top. The hotel had no restaurant though there were plenty of bars and eateries around the Place Ducal, 500m away.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room helpful polite staff who spoke English.
Cons: Corridors were a little dark.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location good, could walk everywhere.
7,9 Good
Pros: Great location to visit the town. Unexpected centre with selection of restaurants.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: As with most hotels the duvets are too thick for summer
7,5 Good

Cons: Room could have been cleaner.. but definitely not the worst we've stayed in!
7,5 Good
Pros: breakfast & location good, secure motorbike parking

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Just a room when we needed it. No complaints. Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Bunk beds weren't great for my 6'2" body but were still manageable.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Near town center
Cons: Needs updating
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our booking had been messed up, we had been given a double rather than a twin. This was sorted promptly by the staff, however it meant moving to sister hotel 300m down the road. This was a blessing as they had parking available
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: It was more of a hostel than hotel. Tiny reception with someone that struggled to under us (fair enough because I couldn't understand him), no doors on cupboards but clean enough. At 7am prompt, for breakfast, there wasn't anyone about so four English guys and some French men stood around. When someone did arrive the last thing on her mind was getting everyone fed...apart from the French men. Wouldn't stay here again. Spoilt the first day of a long trip but the hotel in Bludenz made up for it in spades!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Otherwise it's all clean, neat, the AC is working great. Since it's France, don't expect English knowledge from the staff.
Cons: The hair dryer was not in the room, as mentioned in the facilities description. The shower holder was broken and some other bathroom utilities were not well fixed. Free parkin is on another street, so keep thst in mind when parking in front.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Room & bathroom were clean. Towels on the beds. Our kids (8+4) loved the bunk bed in their 'room'. Quilts were warm.
Cons: Pillows flat.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good communications and helpful staff.
7,9 Good
Pros: The reception and welcome was first class. Fergy on the desk made all the difference in our stay by responding to our requests for information and helping us with our luggage.
Cons: Being woken up in the middle of the night by the fire alarm !!

7,9 Good
Pros: Quiet room on the the inner court, perfect place for save guarding bycicles
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and very comfortable
Cons: Not very much choice for breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast room was very spacious and the standard and selection of food available was good. The milk dispenser was a tad fiddly.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location good. Nice old building, only stayed one night.
Cons: Booking.Com told us check in was from 2pm. We drove from Bruges, 3hrs, to Charleville arriving at 2.30PM to find the hotel closed, in darkness, no answer, no sign of life. Waited outside for 40 minutes, still no sign of any activity, felt like driving off. Found another hotel that was open so went in and asked. They said November 1st was a public holiday and nothing would open till 4pm. At least we knew now. That hotel phoned the first one and we were told someone would open up at 4pm. Sure enough a man opened up, not much conversation and we were given a room right at the top of the hotel. No mention of the private parking space I had reserved but as it was a public holiday I parked outside.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Warm welcome, private parking, fast check in
Cons: Requested earlier Breakfast (7/7.30 am) but nothing could be done before 8am (time we were supposed to leave town) while everything was ready in the hotel and not much had to be done. In addition, pubes remains were found in the bidet and the bathroom was not so clean. Rather old-ish place to stay. Meet my expectations (having a comfortable bed for the night) but that is it.

Cons: Room was old fashion decorated. No airco in breakfast room. Very hot
4,6 Okay
Pros: Cheap but not value for money anyway
Cons: Almost everything
7,9 Good
Pros: Underground free parking for motorcycles. Nice staff. Good price and great for an overnight stop
Cons: Old and tired, rooms need to refurbished, however my fourth stay.
7,5 Good
Pros: Secure parking in underground car par for motorcycles free of charge. Breakfast basic but ok.
Cons: Hotel looking a bit dated
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location and secure parking for motorcycles
Cons: No Wi-fi as promised, hot water for shower took approx 5 mins, dirty toilet bowl, tiny bathroom with sink stuck in your ribs when on the loo.
6,7 Good
Pros: The location was great, and fairly good value for money. The kettle in the bedroom is a big plus as it’s something I appreciate in UK hotels and i find less common in continental hotels.
Cons: The lady on reception was quite rude and unwelcoming when we arrived. It was a shame as it gives a negative impression of people in the local area, who I found to be welcoming. The pillows were not comfortable at all, and the 4pm check-in is quite late compared to other hotels in the area. I didn’t get an email response to my queries when I made the booking so not super easy to communicate.
6,3 Good
Pros: It's cheap and of course that rather has to lower ones expectations, but certainly adequate. There's an attached restaurant (not open when we were there), but no hotel bar. The hotel is easy walking distance to the plaza of Charleville-Mezierés which has plenty of places to drink and eat. The underground car-park is great, bit not for cars with little ground clearance.
Cons: There was a peculiar and somewhat musty odour in the rooms we used. Not so bad it would stop anyone staying, but would have been a better stay without it.
6,7 Good
Pros: good
Cons: a bit run down but good if you're not too fussy. Parking in basement 5Euro v v convenient
5,8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Stains in the toilet and on the carpet

7,5 Good
Cons: The WiFi signal was weak
6,7 Good
Cons: Could with upgrading
5,0 Okay
Pros: Was a better alternative to camping at cabaret vert
Cons: Expensive for what we got
6,7 Good
Pros: We stayed at the hotel just for 1 night. It was small but a relatively clean place. It reminded me of the American style motel rather than a hotel room. There is a nice restaurant just in front of the hotel with a big variety of dishes made of potatoes.
Cons: I did not know the chain and will most likely never stay there again, just not my style. I booked 2 adult beds and 1 junior bed, however I was first proposed a room with 2 beds only. After talking to the reception the room was quickly changed with the junior bed coming from under the adult bed which meant sleeping almost on the floor. All right for 1 night
4,2 Okay
Pros: Hotel was okay, but lady at the reception was very rude , and not helpful... it says on Booking.com web site, that the parking is free. When I asked where can I park my car , she said that I need to park outside, because is full booked for tonight, and there is no place for my car. I parked my car outside, late at night checked, there where only 3 cars at all parking. She was even to lazy to show me a place where can I park after I asked her. I was there second time, and second time she was rude.
7,5 Good
Pros: Easy to find and close to motorway links. Air conditioning in the room. Secure private parking. Bar and restaurant on site - Aldi supermarket a 5 minute walk. Couple of other restaurants close by. Good for an overnight stop, wouldn't stay any longer than that.
Cons: Typical Campanile, don't expect luxury
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good and as we expected it to be.
Cons: Little expensive for the beers from the vending machine.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well maintained and convenient Having a small dog was no issue.
7,1 Good
Pros: Air con in room.
Cons: Booked in January for a twin room and arrived to find we had a double bed. Staff very quickly sorted it but should not have had to be embarrassed like he was.

6,7 Good
Pros: Clean value for money ok for an overnight stop
Cons: I had my BMW bonnet badge stolen from my car in the car park (not happy)
5,8 Okay
Pros: The room was on the second floor and the access was via two open stairs. This is not good if it rains., There is not lift. The breakfast is minimal. The room facilities are minimal too. The window is tiny and there seems to be no AC. The management is the usual rude French type. Nn assistance is ever offered as it would run counter to French principles.
Cons: not much
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The localization close to de high-way and the very good restaurants 50 mtr and 100 mtr away
Cons: The machine of coffe that never liked my coins!!! But was not big deal. The ladys always helped me.
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent value for your money. Budget small rooms
Cons: It is very basic in line with the price.
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing all all
Cons: The location, the state of repair of the building, the smell of the rooms, in particular the bathrooms, the noise and smoking and drug taking of other guests. my family never felt either comfortable or safe. Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, anywhere in the world, regardless of cost.
7,1 Good
Pros: Easy access, clean and worked well for one night
Cons: Tiny bathroom and uncomfortable beds.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Poor breakfast
Cons: Breakfast
5,8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable. The pillows could have been bigger, but did the job. Glad to have basic ensuite and not have to share.
Cons: The room smelt of smoke and it was a non smoking room. We realised it was in the bedding and towels. I sprayed perfume on the pillows so we could sleep without breathing stale and stinky air.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Location and price
Cons: The room smelt of smoke and wasn’t particularly clean. There were cigarette stains in the bathroom despite being a no smoking room. The bed covers stank of smoke and have not been washed for ages.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Beds firm
Cons: Vents suck in cigarette smoke from people smoking just outside their rooms. Room smelled of stale and fresh cigarette smoke. Need sign telling people to smoke further away. No secure dry bicycle parking. Room and shower too tiny. Could not open a window and be secure. No staff for much of the time.
