Pros: The room and bathroom were stunning. Huge bed! The room was in keeping with the age of the building which was lovely. Breakfast was amazing as was the food from the lunch and dinner menus. Staff very friendly!
Cons: It says on booking.com that it is in Salisbury so I thought we’d be able to walk into the town but we were a drive away from Salisbury.

Pros: Very good breakfast and dinner. Besides the buffet stuff you can also order from the breakfast menu. Very typical English ambience. The staff was also very friendly. Beforehand we had contact with the establishment to ask if they could give us some suggestions where to go for horsebackriding and stuff. They helped us a lot to make the most out of this trip.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Beds very comfortable, decor and feel of the hotel classy and cosy. Proper tea and coffee in the rooms (not cheap stuff)

Cons: All was great
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The small touches were brilliant such as a cafetiere with ground coffee and fresh milk in the room.
Cons: I understand that it is an old building, but the layout of the room was not ideal. You could only partially open the door before it hit a second wall and it was a challenge to move all my luggage in and out.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for two nights. The inn is beautiful and has a lot of interesting details. Breakfast was delicious - could barely finish the "half size" full English. Dinner was also very tasty. I left a personal article behind and the inn contacted me - greatly appreciated.
Cons: Nothing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was superb, the olde world charm, the staff, the service, the food, the rooms, the bathroom and toiletries, cleanliness and last but far from least was the luxurious bed. Would go back in a heartbeat.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the Fairlawn to all amenities was excellent. The staff were lovely and the breakfast exceptional.
Cons: The water would not run hot in the bathroom sink which was a little difficult in the winter in particular. We left it running for about 20 minutes as we took account the age of the pipework etc but still it was cold. We boiled a kettle in the end for hot water.

Cons: Nothing.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Quirky property, great staff, lively bar and restaurant.
Cons: Room was a little tatty, carpet a bit grubby.
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs.
Cons: Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing and very central for shopping.
Cons: NA
4,4 Okay
Pros: If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
3,2 Mediocre
Pros: the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old.
Cons: Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
7,2 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Cons:
5,6 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner.
Cons: No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
4,8 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful.
Cons: No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
7,2 Good
Pros: Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details.
Cons: The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!

Pros: Comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast. Great location for hospital visiting. Quiet. Great pub next door.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the kitchennet, and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast selection was really good, plenty to choose from, and the owners seemed really nice aswell.
Cons: The only thing really was that it needs modernising. The light shade and the dark wood mainly make it a bit dated.

10,0 Excellent
Cons: Very clean
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We were looking for a small self-contained place in a village and that exactly what we got. While it is not flashy it is comfortable and allowed us to be independent for dinner. The breakfast provided (continental style) was more than adequate. The owners were lovely and friendly. We were there on a Sunday night so the inn wasn't open for dinner but as there was a microwave in the room we were able to cater for ourselves. It is in a lovely quiet village.
Cons: The water pressure isn't great but the water was a good temperature.
The Wheatsheaf - Salisbury - Building
12
8,7 Excellent (351 reviews)
R1 621+
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and warm room
Cons: The kitchen was closed for evening meal however we were sent a courtesy text and called us a taxi for Salisbury
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The property we stayed at was an upstairs room of a small British pub. The room was adequate with the necessary facilities; the washroom was clean and spacious. The breakfast was custom cooked and adequate. Parking on site was good.
Cons: The access to the upstairs room was difficult with a large suitcase and would have been difficult for those with mobility issues. Low slanted ceilings are not our favorite but do add some charm to the place if you are inclined that way.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very comfortable room in an old historical building situated near small quaint town Wilton. The location was good, the room itself was excellent: very clear and warm. The whole stuff was friendly.
Cons: The Inn is located near the main road to Salisbury. So it was quite noisy also in the evening. But it is not a big problem for travellers who stay for one-two nights here.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfully characterful room that is comfortable and clean, and the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The bar downstairs has a great atmosphere, and whilst the menu is limited, the food was excellent. I would be happy recommending the Wheatsheaf, and would be happy to return if I was in the area again.
Cons: Some of the rooms are on the road, and the traffic can get busy in the morning, although the hosts kindly provide earplugs!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The quaintness of the property, as well as position overlooking the river, which in summer time could be very attractive

Cons: Noisy floorboards in room above
7,9 Good
Pros: The location was lovely and the concierge was very very helpful. Breakfast was yummy, coffee point needs working on.
Cons: Furniture very worn for a deluxe executive room.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Underheated bedroom, bar, no lounge.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location was excellent for the cathedral and the Christmas market. Hotel Food, evening meal and breakfast, was very good and staff were great, friendly and helpful.
Cons: Room was a bit tired, particularly the bathroom, needs an update and was not quite warm enough for my liking.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very good location short walk to town.comfortable room.good food. Free on site parking and lovely location on bank of river.
Cons: Our room was in the original building ,you could clearly hear the people in the next room.although the building is old this was sold as a deluxe room so perhaps something could have been done. also on the first day they had run out of bodingtons and only had a local bitter and this was ok .on the second day this had gone so no bitter .very strange as this was a Saturday. Although we enjoyed our stay other travellers should note this is wedding venue and I imagine in the summer weekends could be very busy.
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel is located in a great location near the center. It is a historic building, you can feel the stiff stone structure. (There was only a few cracks here and there and on the ceiling.)The water pressure is amazing. Breakfast is provided and edible.
Cons: Room is not too big, has very thin walls inbetween the rooms. A lightbulb was missing at the bed. Curtain and wall has stains. Some issues with mould appearing in the corner of the room and at the window; on the ceiling in the bathroom. The tap needs changing as it looks very worn. Could have been a little warmer there; maybe I should have asked for a hot water bottle? Personally I did not like the staff. Toilet brush was not present. The room felt way overpriced.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable
Cons: We booked the hotel just out of town, thinking it may be fairly quiet as we were up super early the next morning with our plans for the day. There was a wedding that night and the wedding party were outside until gone midnight being pretty loud right under our window, along with the disco. I think it would be decent to let people know you have a wedding at the time of booking. We also had to park across town because the carpark was full of wedding guests, which is understandable, but again...a heads up may have helped. The lady on reception seemed a little fed up and possibly at the end of her shift maybe, wasn't the warm welcome we're used to.

Pros: The courtyard, the ivy, the little quirks
Cons: Some rooms get too hot in hot weather
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Cosy feel to the hotel and great location, right in the city centre. We parked at Central long stay car park, very convenient and cheap.
Cons: Very little sound proofing and unfortunately there was a lot of noise outside our window. I’d advise taking ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.

6,7 Good
Pros: Great location, fantastic old building with real character, room a good size, clean and comfortable.
Cons: Staff not particularly friendly, in this I do not include the young serving staff who tried their best to be helpful at breakfast. Breakfast on Sunday morning was a total nightmare they were unable to cope with number of residents some got NO cooked breakfast some like us got a little . On Monday morning hardly any residents and breakfast cooked to order although but not very well!
2,0 Mediocre
Cons: The rooms were not as advertised - much poorer condition and far from adequate. The walls have no sound proofing you can hear the occupants of the next room having sex and you can hear the TV playing clearly in the other room. Bathroom was old and dirty and the view from the room was of a dirty rooftop of the other side of the building. Overall a dreadful experience.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice period hotel. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, but room info sparse.
Cons: Reception very cramped with only space for one person checking in or out and little counter space. Very little sound insulation between our room and the next. Conversations clearly audible.
5,1 Okay
Pros: Location, courtyard nice except..., price not unreasonable.
Cons: Feel duped. Booked a "historical" room based on a picture of a charming room offered when booking. Got to room and it was a B minus take on modern. Asked at desk and was told all the rooms had been renovated, they were updating the website. Too late. False advertising. Internet horrible to the point of being useless, rooms very hot in summer. Kegs and chairs stacked/stored in the courtyard ruin the charm and ambiance. Shocked at the five star rating. Would hate to see an even four star property...

Pros: Location
Cons: Inconsistency with breakfast service
8,2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, and the buildings amazing--all ivy and period charm. Hard to do better.
Cons: Bedrooms vary a bit. Some are great, others a little small.

Pros: Good friendly atmosphere
5,7 Okay
Pros: Nice building, great location. Comfort OK, if more 3-star than 4-star.
Cons: Disco with loud music until midnight. Impossible to sleep as a result until it stopped. This does not always happen--I have stayed here before--but once is more than enough.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful and a wide selection
Cons: The reception staff did not inform me that you needed a code to exit the premises on your car. The shower head was the worst I’ve ever encountered in any hotel. When we arrived there was insufficient parking however this was not advised at point of booking we eventually got a space by chance. I selected your hotel because it stated in house parking so you can imagine my disappointment.
6,3 Good
Pros: Great location in city centre.
Cons: No guarantee of parking then you have to find a city centre car park in a one way system!!! Room was really not clean and we complained and staff were great. We got a good price reduction. Just needs a really good injection of tlc and a facelift.
7,9 Good
Pros: Easy car parking, and barrier controlled too Location to city centre fabulous Cosy sized room first impression lovely clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and nice room. Tea and coffee in room- nespresso machine and kettle for tea. Breakfast was lovely and tasty, with good variety
Cons: Room(carpet including underlay) and Bathroom needs refurb(chipped corner shelve, shower screen rubber dirty, shower knobs lost caps) Plastic bags or something under carpet so rustled when walked across floor. Quirky and amusing but strange. One of double plug sockets loose in wall and little concerned so didnt use it.

Pros: Staff were friendly and accommodating
7,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast selection very good.
Cons: Room not bad but one double glazed window pane “blown” and the other had a broken catch so would not close fully - very cold. Had to resort to piling the curtains onto the window sill to keep out draughts. No point reporting as had obviously been the same for some time.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast ingredients were good quality and would have been delicious if only they had been hot!!
Cons: My room had a bad smell from the bathroom drains. There were a number of light-bulbs that needed changing. The windows were not double-glazed and the room overlooked the kitchen extractor system, so from about 06:00 it was very noisy.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good sized hotel Nice hidden courtyard
Cons: A bit noises at night
