Pros: The veiw
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The view and staff were very nice and very helpful
6,0 Good
Cons: The rooms are usually way too warm with no way to cool down. Summer stays are probably ok, but I will avoid during heating season
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was fantastic! Most comfortable bed I've slept in in a long time!
1,0 Poor
Pros: I wasn't really impressed with anything. The price is too high for what you get. The staff was super extra rude. The room was dirty and out dated. I could've gotten a two room suite with a in-room jacuzzi hot tub for 4 nights at the same rate as this hotel.
Cons: Almost everything was bad.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Booked a king and booking.com gave us 2 queens?
6,0 Good
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised the Hotel did not charge for parking in their Ramp. They also supplied a "pass" ticket to use for any time I needed to leave then return to the ramp. The bed was very comfortable. The Bathroom and facilities were very nice. The Breakfast in their nice restaurant was very good.
Cons: The Hotel and decor was dark, bordering on dreary and depressing, but the weather was a bit gloomy as well. I was disappointed that there was not a pool or jacuzzi. I booked a "Riverview" room for extra $, but when I got to the room...it had a view of a brick wall. Then went back to desk to inquire....they told me it would be $20 more for a room with a Riverview. I hate when that sort of thing happens, especially when it was obvious the hotel was not full.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The restaurant was wonderful. Location was perfect.
Cons: I wasn't able to actually sleep at the hotel. Wall between mine and some late night partiers was thin or non insulated for sound. Was like they were in my room. I could hear and understand multiple conversations. Front desk manager was unsympathetic and straight forward to put blame on me for not calling earlier.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Likes that it was close to excel.
Cons: I paid for a double room and got a king bed. The lady would not change it, not cool when it’s you and your teenage son staying 2 nights. I paid a lot of money and should have got what I booked. My friend who was staying also had a hard time with her room. And she found blood stains on her sheets.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I was there for the state boys hockey tournament so the location was great.
Cons: I paid over $100 for parking which is plenty steep. However, I realize that parking during the state tournament is complicated.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Close to the Xcel Center.
Cons: Paid a little extra for the King Feature room with a river view. I hate to see what the standard room was since this room was barely big enough for the bed and nightstand. Also- the view was of the alley behind the hotel. Not the river.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient Downtown location on Skywalk- close to Xcel Center and great for modern feel. Great food at Citizen Restaurant- and friendly staff. Room had a great view of the Mississippi River.
Cons: No issues.

Pros: nothing
Cons: Worst experience in my life. Room had blood stains on the wall, bed was ready to fall apart, we arrived at 8:00 pm and left before 10:00 pm after 6 policeman were pounding on door beside us. They laughed as we were leaving stating this was a quiet night!
1,0 Poor
Cons: Well I booked. When I got there they was full. Said y'all always still book. It was late, car broke nd had a 4 yr old nd all our stuff out of car to be told "full". Mind you we was dropped off by a cab. So there goes more moneyfor cab elsewhere. Bad

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Historic and fancy
Cons: Wish they had a pool But not sure how had they retrofit one.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We were only there for one night but they took care of us
Cons: The extra to pay for parking but the fact that we could get to our car or be taken anywhere we wanted to go was amazing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Always nice to stay at the St. Paul Hotel. Breakfast is a high point!
Cons: I had booked a deluxe double and had confirmation in hand. We were given a room with one King - which would have been awkward for my father in law and me. When I spoke with the man at the front desk about this, he said he would not be able to change rooms for us and suggested that I must have called and changed the reservation from doubles to a king. After a second trip to the desk seeking resolution, he admitted that the error was on the hotel's side and he would pass the issue to his manager. Ultimately this was resolved and we were given the correct room, but this is not what I've come to expect from The St. Paul Hotel in nearly two decades of staying with you.
9,0 Excellent
Cons: Thought the fee to park overnight $30 was a bit high for the market (St. Paul) and then not enough staff in AM to get car so we waited about 15 minutes.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very clean. The food in the bar was amazing!
Cons: The pillows were very thick and hard. It was hard to stay comfortable throughout the night.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great.
Cons: If anything. Paying for parking.
7,0 Good
Pros: The location was great! It was close to the Excel Energy Center where we were attending a MN Wild Game and there were tons of food + drink options nearby!
Cons: The paint on the walls of our hotel room bathroom were peeling and the property felt like it had been cosmetically updated to cover how old it really is. When we were finally able to use the hot tub (the first night it was full of kids until almost 10pm) it was luke warm. The breakfast was pretty mediocre, but it was included in the cost of the room so it didn't bother us too much - we went out in St. Paul for brunch instead. If you are booking, I would ask to get a room on the Capital side - we were on the highway side and it was pretty loud all night (which didn't bother us, but could if you are a light sleeper)

3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Bed was clean and comfortable.
Cons: While staying at this property, we witnessed multiple drug deals in the parking lot, broke down cars taking up key parking spots, loud music all times of the day and night. We returned to our room late after a hard day, called the front desk to get fresh towels for a shower and were told that we had to wait until morning and that we should have brought our own. The room we were in had occupants above that seemed to never sleep or leave the room and had children that were allowed to run ramped through the room and hallways. 2am seemed to be the key time for them to wrestle , do jumping exercising and such. Needless to say, I give this property a 1 star. I should give it a negative star but I can at least say the bed was clean and comfortable.

Pros: My room was very pleasant. I like the location and have always been satisfied with the hotel until this trip.
Cons: If you plan to operate a lounge w/food you need staff to do so. Last night you disappointed guests at the lounge and people checking in. One person can’t operate both and expect great customer satisfaction. My TV did not work, I went to the front desk and while she was being pulled in both directions she managed to give me new batteries, but that did not help. I decided not to bother her again, customer satisfaction was poor!!! I overheard her tell someone that she was the only person scheduled, so it was not due to someone calling in sick.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is the BEST of all BEST WESTERNs I have stayed at in 6yrs of traveling. I will surely come back if I am again in teh ST Paul MN area. They converted a Railroad station into a hotel, such comfort and elegance for a hotel, SUPER perfect rooms and views
Cons: Not at all
4,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: The staff went behind my back and tried to put charges on my credit card that I ga see no authorization for.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Front desk staff was pleasant.
Cons: Hard to fairly assess the whole facility because so much was closed do to COVID-19, but all in all, I felt it was way too expensive. The accommodations, and the appearance, are closer to a 2.5 or 3-star hotel; not a 4-star. The parking lot is very shabby, and the hotel entrance is easy to miss.
5,8 Okay
Pros: I love the convenience of this location as it is near my daughter and son in law when we visit.
Cons: The bathrooms in the room were not extremely clean. There were spots around the door and in the bathtub. If questions about house cleaning they gave me erroneous information. The house cleaner was very sweet but the desk staff were not extremely friendly.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Really neat place. Glad we stayed there.
Cons: No
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quite
Cons: Everything very clean
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very historic building. Decent proximity to State Fairgrounds. Roomy.
Cons: Strong air freshener/deodorizer smell when we walked in. Quirky layout getting to room but not a deal breaker.
1,0 Poor
Pros: This place is a dump! I’ve stayed in numerous Best Westerns over the past ten years as I travel back and forth from Duluth, Mn to Mesa, Az. Where we winter. I have never seen one in the condition this one is in. It took 5 hours to heat the room up. According to the desk clerk, “you have to let it run for a few hours for it to work”. At 4:30 AM the heat vent kicked into overdrive, sounded like a jet taking off. I was done sleeping for the day. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Front desk staff was helpful.
Cons: 1st room reeked of smoke & a bad attempt to cover it, closet doors were off their tracks, light fixtures were laying out on table & bathroom counter. 2nd room, door latch & key reader were damaged, breakfast cereal spilled on tabletops, too hot & no air.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice pool area. Helpful staff.
Cons: There was no maintenance so a couple of issues—burned out light bulb, icy patch where my husband fell could not be taken care of. My parents switched rooms twice because of door locks that didn’t work.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Its unique design.
Cons: Initially we were put in a room that was unsuitable but that was changed and we were then quite happy.

5,0 Okay
Pros: The old school charm and location
Cons: The designated parking and skyway path were littered. The inital room I had had a clogged toilet. The replacement room (a handicapped-accessible one) was excellent. The breakfast was nothing special.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The shower was hot and strong. The exercise facility was decent
Cons: It was generally old & musty. The elevator smelled like an old closet. The room was tiny, barely larger than a walk in closet .
6,0 Good
Cons: The bathroom at this hotel was disappointing. The towels were clean but incredibly dingy and stained, the sink was so small as to be nearly unusable, there was zero counter space, and the toilet ran constantly.
6,0 Good
Cons: Woman that started at midnight and yelled at me for playing piano in the lounge. Staff before her gave me permission. She came at me with such rudeness and disrespect she ruined my whole experience.
7,9 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, and the room was a great size and very cute.
Cons: Shower water pressure was terrible, the breakfast was ver minimal, and I've had better breakfasts at 2 star motels.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is the best hotel that i have ever experience! I Highly recommend this hotel it has everything location, security and best of all GYM! The money spent was worth every penny ! I only wish i had a better view of the downtown area!
Cons: The business center was closed so i could not use the printing services ! After speaking with the front desk , it appears as though the business center will be out for days!
7,0 Good
Pros: It was absolutely beautiful and quaint. The room was precious and the space was used wisely.
Cons: It was seriously the creepiest hotel I've ever been in. We heard people all night and all day but did not see A SINGLE PERSON except for the person at the front desk. So so so weird.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: I am not sure how booked hotel was but it certainly would have bee nice to have a room that looked out not one that looked out to some interior space.very disappointed with that

Pros: Historic details
Cons: Area seemed unsafe. I made a trip through the skywalk by myself and was propositioned by a man loitering there. Scary. Breakfast was horrible. Out of everything.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The steam room in the athletic club.
Cons: The Sunday morning breakfast....HUGE disappointment. Expected much more than a continental breakfast. Only 2 staff to replenish a very empty continental breakfast with a room full of guests all waiting for items to be replaced and gone just as quickly.

Pros: Guy at the front desk was a legend!

Overview Reviews
Stay the night on the Mississippi River – literally – at the Covington Inn. This houseboat is trimmed stem to stern in mahogany, brass and bronze, extending to guests the elegant comfort once reserved aboard historic work vessels for company executives and VIPs. Windows and portals in the boat's tiered design draw light into each room. Sleeping quarters feature a mix of ingenious built-in cabinets with simple furnishings from the Covington's work era. Salvaged fixtures, nautical antiques and historic art provide tasteful reminders of the river and the inn's past life. Sitting permanently moored within the reflection of downtown St. Paul's towering skyline, The Capitol, museums, theater, fine dining and shopping wait just across the bridge. Offering a place for both a quiet getaway and the city spree, the Covington does it all. Beyond the privacy of the staterooms, the salon provides a comfortable gathering place. Lit with clerestory windows and furnished with fireside couches and window-front tables, the salon offers a great place for breakfasting, letter writing and browsing through the Covington library of historic river and shipping books. Our breakfasts, cooked in the boat's galley, pamper you with just a touch of the gourmet while fueling a full-day's exploration.

Pros: It is unique, comfortable, quiet, cozy, and ina great location. Lizisawonderful hostess and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. Rooms are not spacious but this used to be a working tugboat and it adds to the harm.
Cons: It can be hard to find. You have to cross the Wabasha bridge, turn left on Water Street, snake around, following the signs for Harriet Islandand park in the last parking lot.

Pros: It was a place to sleep
Cons: There was a fight outside my room with injury no one wasreally concerned like it happens all the time.
4,0 Okay
Pros: None
Cons: The lady checking us in was not friendly...she didn't even smile once. The place had trash over flowing in the trash bin. My bed had lots of dog hair n my toilet has black moles all over the bowl.
3,1 Mediocre
Pros: It was a room with a roof and four walls. That's about as good as it gets. The desk staff were alright.
Cons: The sign on the door said no smoking, but the room had been smoked in. There was a cigarette burn in the comforter, as well as the smell of smoke. The floor had not been well swept, the shower floor looked a little mildewed. The first hand towel I grabbed had not been washed, and still had eye makeup and a crusty yellow stain. My door was knocked on by a man and a woman looking for someone; they knocked three times before moving on. There were people outside talking loudly until about 11:30. The bed had it's own odor, which I think was in the mattress. I got a strong whiff every time I rolled over. I got a total of about 2.5 hours of sleep, but when I woke to the smell of the bed again at 2:45 am, I decided I'd had enough, got up, and checked out at 3:30. Will never stay there again. It was gross, and I did not feel safe during the 5 hours I was there.

1,0 Poor
Pros: The location was great. We were in town visiting my family and we wanted a few nights out but everything was booked because of the super bowl and this was our only option for last minute plans. We also liked the fact they offered military discount.
Cons: Staff was unprofessional and unwilling to place us into a different room because our room smelled like cigarette smoke. When we booked the room we booked a “non-smoking” room. The room was dirty and appeared to never be cleaned or just quickly

Pros: Really dissappointed with this place. It smelled bad and was not very clean. I have never stayed at a worse hotel. It was had to find, says it is a Days Inn. Didn't even have a normal type of cart to bring in things.
Cons: It was dirty in the corners and just didn't feel very safe there. The only clean thing was the sheets! Breakfast was just adequate. The orange juice was watered down till it barely tasted like orange juice. Definitely not a 2 star place to stay.

Cons: Thought the fee to park overnight $30 was a bit high for the market (St. Paul) and then not enough staff in AM to get car so we waited about 15 minutes.
