Pros: I have loved this property for over twenty years. The location in north county San Diego could not be better.
Cons: Unfortunately there is a disparity in villa locations. My room overlooked Aviara Parkway where sound noise makes it difficult to enjoy the balcony. There are many more prime locates villas that are less prone to the road noise.

Pros: The accommodations and location are excellent and the grounds are beautiful. The staff is top notch and welcoming. One of their most outstanding features is the bedding which feels like sleeping on a cloud.

Pros: The view was amazing once we changed rooms. You could walk down the stairs and you were on the beach. The gal that assisted us during check out was the best experience we had for the entire trip.
Cons: The rooms were dirty, the blankets were dirty hair and other things on them (looked like someone else had used them). The first room we got which was supposed to be ocean front was looking directly at a roof top. The hot tub was only open until 9:00 pm and automatically shuts off! Never heard of such a thing.They charged us to upgrade to the view we thought we had purchased originally. Double charged us the upgrade fee for both days (caught that on our bill when we checked out). No elevators so if you have heavy suitcases be prepared to carry up and down the stairs.

Pros: There simply isn't a better spot to be in Carlsbad than where Beach Terrace is located. Literally ON the beach and central to the village! That would be great enough, but each one of the staff rounded out our stay by being absolutely exceptional and felt like staying with long-time friends. From check in, to helping us carry our luggage both down and up the stairs, to setting up chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, toys and even extra blankets so we could stay nice and toasty watching the stunning January sunsets on the beach, to the phenomenal breakfast spread and waiting service. The room was positively huge, so our family of 5 had more than enough space to stretch out. There was also a ton of pillows on each super comfy bed, which I really appreciated. We never feel unsafe in Carlsbad, but the room card access to come in from the beach and go to the pool makes the whole place feel very secure. Both the outside showers and room showers had plenty of super hot water. There is so much charm that comes with the age of the Inn, but the updates and amenities rival anything you would expect from a brand new hotel. We will definitely be back!
Cons: Not a bad thing or even a complaint AT ALL, but the only thing we would like to see added in the room(s) is a full-size couch. The chairs inside are very nice and quite comfy, but since the room was so long, it would be great to also have another relaxing spot to sit and watch the waves.

Cons: Seriously outdated rooms, tripped several times on the uneven flooring in room 26. The carpet felt like it had been laid over another carpet that had been folded over in different areas.
Bedding was not what I expected for the money that they charged for an exclusive room. Maid service needs basic bed making 101, how to tuck in the bottom sheet so patrons feet are not touching the mattress pad. Pool was cloudy, ran out of towels. All round we were not impressed with anything the Beach Terrace Inn had to offer.

There customer service manager didn't want to correct the mistake but offer me a 25 gift card which i refused to take. On there website it allows you to see the rates in the currency of your choice. After receiving the confirmation it still didn't state it was in USD besides the resort fee which is clearly outlined prior to booking. I only found out through lego land hotel that it was charged in USD. the second thing is i booked a room at there new hotel location and was given a room at the older hotel. great job BOOKING.COM , your crooks BEWARE Canadians, very difficult people to deal with.

Pros: I love the separate kids bedroom space and all the little details. The knights room had a night light that illuminated constellations on the ceiling. The beds are super comfortable and everyone slept very well. The kids enjoyed the pool area, the lifeguards were always alert to the kids in the pool. Great selection at the breakfast buffet. The staff was helpful and friendly and did a really nice job of moving families through. The treasure chest surprises each day was a bonus for the kids however there are only 3 options and on day 4 they got the exact same keychain that they got the day before. The location was great. It is easy to go into San Diego, Sea World, or La Jolla for a day trip. And of course with a 2-day park hopper to Legoland it is the perfect place to stay..
Cons: They only have basic TV/cable. After a long day of play would've loved to cuddle on the bed with the whole family and watch a Lego movie. Tried to use our mobile hotspot with the smart TV but could only get audio. Also, when we showed up the master bedroom fitted sheet was dirty, multiple hairs on it and a couple dirty marks. We got in late and had to wait for the bed to be changed. There is outdoor entertainment but it's the same thing looped over and over. I was shocked there were so few Lego shows available since the Florida resort in 2017 had the Lego movie on 24/7 in the kids' room. It is expensive to stay and you get charged even more if you have to park a car overnight. Would be nice if the resort fee included the cost to park a car on site.

Pros: The staff were kind. My son loved trading mini figures with the staff around the hotel and the housekeeping staff did a lovely job keeping the place clean. The location was perfect near LegoLand.
Cons: I got sick from the breakfast banquet 2 out of 3 mornings. While the chef was kind and explained what was safe with my allergies. Unfortunately, the rest of the kitchen staff seemed to have issues accommodating allergies. They seemed annoyed by it.

I called 8 times, as well as taking to reservations and security and eventually security let me in my room but in never got anyone on the phone from the line provided. Every time I called I would start to talk to the woman who answered and I would be hung up on. Not a great system if you lose or misplace your key.

Cons: Since there isn’t a full service restaurant, there aren’t any restaurants close by (if you are new to the area). It’s really just located around other hotels. There are no facilities for charging an electric vehicle. There is an outdoor outlet, but it’s located right next to a handicapped parking space. That’s a deal-breaker for us, so we won’t stay there again. There are hotels nearby that do have those stations so they really need to upgrade.

Unfortunately, breakfast was stale and subpar to other hotels we have visited. Providing a larger, fresher breakfast would have improved our experience here and made it a better value.

Cons: First when we arrived they gave us a room on the first floor with the parking view. we had to go to the room to find out that it is not what we expected and paid for as a deluxe room which as they described has a coastal view. After we went down to let them know, the manager in charge showed us so much attitude and kept arguing instead of trying to change our room to what we paid for. 2- the air conditioner/ heater wasn't working and we froze the first night putting it on 76 degrees when it felt like 66. They had to ask Engineers to come check it the next morning. 3- The toilet clogged up the first day and they had to ask their maintenance to come fix it. 4- The beds were so saggy that you would wake up with backache every morning. 5. The blankets were not cotton and breathable, so you would feel so hot under them, but so cold if you didn't use them due to broken air conditioner. 6- We had to wait 25 min to get a table for breakfast and we had to ask the waitress for spoon, sugar, etc etc.

Pros: Clean and spacious rooms surrounded by green trees in a nice quiet neighborhood. Staff was courteous and attentive. The hotel is not overly luxurious but very functional and clean. Very typical of Courtyard by Marriot. Love these hotels!
Cons: It is not close to San Diego if that is what you are looking for. It is close to LegoLand and not too far from the beaches in Carlsbad and Encinitas.

Pros: Check in is at 4pm... I got there at 2 pm and they were happy to check me in, no big fuss about it. I mentioned that it was my son's birthday and they gave him a birthday goodie bag with snacks and water. The room was super clean, the upgrades are great

Cons: Cleanliness. Staff in the front office. Stale bread in breakfast. Couldn't close the bathroom door easily. View from the room was bad. Toiletries were not provided when we first checked in. We had to ask for it. Jacuzzi was not clean.

Pros: The pool was great in a garden in the center of the property. Our 8 year old had a ball and we enjoyed both hot tub and heated pool. There is a shopping center across the street for coffee so we got our fix easily in the am.
Cons: The only problem we had is that in the morning we went outside on the balcony to let our son sleep in the quiet and dark inside, but there was someone smoking on the level below and it was like sitting in a chimney - absolutely gross. Not sure there is much the hotel can do about this, but it was a very uncomfortable morning.

Cons: Our booking stated that breakfast was included and they refused to honor it. They said their policy changed at the beginning of the year and they would no longer provide breakfast for free even though our reservation clearly stated it would. Very angry.

Cons: We had to have had the worst room in the entire room. Paper thin walls, super noisy, fresh paint smell, right next to the entrance of the hotel so no privacy from the outside patio. Super disappointed with our room.

Pros: The proximity to Legoland is great. I like the size of the room and the full kitchen. The pool kid pool area is really great.
Cons: When I checked in they gave me a standard room not the suite I bought. When I checked out the next day, they charged me $328 even though I had prepaid. I am have had to call to get the charges reversed. Still waiting to get the money back.

Cons: Room key didn’t work Super loud until late in the night - sounded like a playground area one floor further up. Lights in the bedroom turned on EVERY hour of the night due to an issue of the motion detection. Always had to get up to turn it off again. Lights (incl usb charging stations) by bed didn’t work either resulting in uncharged devices the next morning upon notice.
