Very nice hotel in a great part of town. Super close to Plaza Grande, a main tourist attraction in the city and extremely easy to catch a taxi just outside the main doors to anywhere else. A lot of things within easy walking distance. Grocery store and restaurants just up the street as well. Staff speaks excellent English and were always ready to say "Hi" or help.
It is very easy to miss because of the extreme lack of signage. Maybe this is on purpose as to not attract too much attention but I did walk right past the front doors a couple of times before I realized and turned around. A simple street sign would be sufficient. Other than that one small gripe, I have no other issues with this property.
The restaurant at the top of the hotel had a great view and the dinner was delicious. The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The location was awesome.
The hotel was very clean. The old historic building was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was awesome! We stayed here during Festa de Luz so the whole historic part of Quito was blocked of from automobile traffic. We were flying out at 12:30 Sunday morning so we needed to leave the hotel about 9:30 Saturday night. That would have us walking about 5 blocks with all of our luggage and the streets were packed with people. I was a little worried about our safety. I voiced my concerns with the front desk and the man said no problem. When would you like to leave. I told him and we went to quickly pack. I got a call from him about 10 minutes before to make sure we were ready. When we got to the front desk the doorman said he would carry my wife’s luggage and we followed him through the crowd the 5 blocks where they had a taxi waiting for us. We tipped the doorman and was off to the airport safely. I want to thank the whole staff and especially the front desk clerk and the doorman that night. They went above and beyond. Thanks everyone for a great experience. When I come back to Quito I will definitely stay here.
I can’t say anything bad about this place.
Rooms are comfortable, with good sober fine furniture. Excellent shower, bedlinen and towels. The whole place is spotlessly clean. All the staff is absolutely perfect, both from a profesional and a humane point of view. The restaurant is very good; there may not be a great variety of dishes but what they have is awesome (please try the grilled prawns and pay attention to the salad dressing). Breakfast is also very good. And having your breakfast or dinner with that view of the Santo Domingo Church and Convent... The location is very good; in the Centro histórico and yet it is very quiet. Wi fi works at all floors. There are stairs, but they are comfortable, with good railings and ample landings (you can stop to get your breath back should Quito´s 2800 meters above sea level get to you), but this should be taken into account. This is not for people with mobility issues. I stayed 3 days at the hotel and returned for 3 more days. Both times I reached long before check-in time and they checked me in immediately. On my checking out they allowed me to stay one more hour, but kept my luggage, so I could go out. I then sat to read their paper at the lobby while waiting for my taxi to come.
Good location, great view from the restaurant, good breakfast, good ecological policy on refilling plastic bottles.
