Pros: Excellent breakfast on the Terrace each morning - everything was fresh and delicious. The location could not have been better for walking and site seeing.
Cons: The resort has only one heated pool of the 5 pools at the resort. Since the water at this time of year can be a bit cold, everyone wanted to be in the heated pool, and at times, it was very crowded with kids - a few times I counted 20 heads in the pool. There are Portugese families with multiple kids who own apartments at the resort that have been handed down since the 80's. These groups would descend upon the heated pool like an noisy army and stay the entire day. Their attitude is that they are "owners" and will do whatever they want. The resort needs to exert more control over these people. It's funny because kids will generally swim in icy waters, but they all gravitated to the warmer water that was available to them. If they can't heat another pool, the resort might want to think about making it 'adults only".
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location and view are amazing. Green, well maintained paradise-like territory. We had a huge beautiful room just behind the pool, which was great. The reception staff and managers were vey attentive and helpful, however waiters could be more friendly. Overall we had great time.
Cons: No full length mirror in the room. The minibar was not freezing, but when asked it was replaced with new one very quickly. The doors in bathroom could not be locked. Restaurants were good but only two and quite expensive. I wish they had dinner buffet.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Perfect
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Vacation
Cons: Nothing
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Loved how spacious the property is. The sports court was our favorite ! Wish they had a jacuzzi though
Cons: No jacuzzi
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The ocean was great. Rueben was very friendly and informative. Also the Divespot people especially Pedro were great.
5,8 Okay
Pros: view from the breakfast
Cons: to much people at one place for breakfast not very nice interior in the appartment pay way to much need a car to go anywhere
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We loved our upgrade to a sea view apartment.
Cons: We really didn’t like the plastic containers used to serve lunch. In this day and age we thought it was inappropriate and they should use bamboo trays or something that can be used again. We also didn’t like the seaweed on the beach not being cleared away.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with bath tube in the room; friendly staff, nice balcony, minimalist rustic comfortable decor
Cons: Big resort
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The pools and beach we’re perfect for bringing families and children but still luxe and upscale. Just more welcoming to children being poolside than other luxury resorts I’ve been too.
Cons: The restaurant up stairs was overpriced and with a limited menu. However the concierge was excellent and made great dinner recommendations for us outside of the resort.
Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort - Praia do Carvoeiro - Building

9,1 Excellent (2 871 reviews)
R1 966+
Overview Reviews
Tucked into a cliffside overlooking the glistening Atlantic Ocean, the five-star Tivoli Carvoeiro Hotel is a jewel in the Algarve’s crown. This luxury resort is a 10-minute walk from the beach, and you can explore more of this stunning stretch of coastline on the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. The hotel has 248 spacious rooms on six floors, with most offering a balcony or terrace. Decorated in elegant blues and whites to represent the sea, the rooms are equipped with Nespresso machines, flat-screen TVs and video on demand. Our Carvoeiro Suite even has a standalone tub that looks out over the ocean. You’ll be spoilt for choice by our bars and restaurants. Breakfast is an American-style buffet with pastries, local hams and cheeses, and hot options. Experience fine wines and authentic Portuguese cuisine in our three restaurants, with freshly caught seafood a menu highlight. To drink in the best views, head to our rooftop bars for a cool mojito or craft beer. Whether you want to pamper yourself with an organic seaweed treatment in the spa, invigorate yourself in the pool, dive beneath the ocean or organize a game of golf, the hotel’s incredible facilities and staff will make your stay a memorable one.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Tivoli Carvoeiro was a beautiful place to stay! The BEST part of this spot is definitely the location and the view of the caves and the little private beach (although a little tricky to get down to). The location was great for exploring the Algarve and traveling to other local beaches and sites. The staff was very helpful in making recommendations and helping us plan our stay.
Cons: The price tag - it was expensive to stay and to eat/drink on the property. You are paying for location here. There was a lot of selection for breakfast, but it wasn't the best food we had on our trip. We didn't eat dinner on property for fear of the bill and we wanted a more local experience. Lunch was good, but again, expensive. Definitely a little more luxury than we are used to. This was our honeymoon trip and this was definitely a family spot, so lots of kids.
7,0 Good
Pros: Amazing view, great food and cocktails, amazing skybar, great location for exploring the caves nearby, quite area and friendly staff.
Cons: We only requested the room to be cleaned once in the 5 nights stayed, put the sign at 9AM and when we returned at 4PM they were just getting started; they didn't clean the floors or change the bed linens. Very noisy rooms, you could hear your next door neighbors. Lots of people were reserving the sunbeds by the pool early morning by placing towels on them and nobody telling them off. Quite uncomfortable pillows.
7,5 Good
Pros: The comfort. The breakfast. Bed. Pool, bars and restaurants. The view.
Cons: Walking distance to the beach (15 minutes)
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Location, view and good breakfast
Cons: Ants in the room
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, staff very attentive, despite large crowds of people & very noisy
Cons: Coffee was awful served by staff, much better from nespresso machine. It was very noisy but probably not much can be done about this, except go at a quieter time! I was disappointed with the room, I did not think it was upto 5 star standard.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, great breakfast. Comfy bed and great location. Great family hotel wouldn’t recommend for couples in school holidays
Cons: Sunbeds... would expect a 5 star to have comfier sunbeds. There was 10 with cushions but always reserved early in the morning even though the hotel asks for know one to reserve people still did. Staff at pool restaurant were a little rude not what you expect at a 5 star hotel. Staff at the bar and breakfast were great though
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The views and location.
Cons: A/C didn't work. Service was beyond slow. Pool closed at 7 pm. Bars and restaurants opened at odd hours
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We went to the Tivoli on our honeymoon as don’t normally stay in hotels like this! Our room had twin beds instead of double so we were put in a different room immediately and a more beautiful one. Food was excellent. Always atleast 1 veggie option but I just ate from the salad bar as it was the best. Spotlessly clean. Staff were lovely and friendly and our room was always cleaned when we left for meals. Highly recommend.

Pros: Beautiful property, amazing views. Staff was super friendly and very accommodating.
Cons: There’s nothing that I didn’t like.

9,3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, quiet, charming. Very helpful staff!
Cons: Restaurant is overpriced
3,3 Mediocre
Cons: A deserted outdated place with poor facilities and lots of flies in the apartment. Regretted that we blindly chose it! Big money for nothing!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The pool was amazing. I was staying here to attend an on-site wedding. The wedding was amazing.
Cons: The staff for the wedding were very good. Reception staff were cold and unwelcoming. The staff in the restaurant and bar were not at a 5 star level. The breakfast similarly was 3 star at beast.
6,8 Good
Pros: The food quality was excellent.
Cons: They closed the restaurant for a small private booking and didn't tell us until we arrived. They only had one restaurant and nowhere nearby to eat either.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, quiet and peaceful and very friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Maybe the gym could have a little bit more attention, but apart from that everything was great.
6,8 Good
Pros: Lovely cliff top views.
Cons: They closed the restaurant for a private party and we couldn’t eat there.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Tatiana in the kids club she was awesome with the children.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The setting is gorgeous. The staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Great location.
Cons: The place just lacks some decent facilities for me to give it a 10 rating. The place is lovely but it needs a decent gym and spa. The gym and spa is a waste of time. No decent machines or free weights. They have so much ground in the estate they could easily build a tennis court, create a games room for kids such as table tennis or pool. Not much to do other than use the swimming pool. The food at night is not good. Trying too hard to look like a Michelin restaurant but quality and selection poor. People are great though but the owners need to invest in the property and the little touches that would make us come back.
7,5 Good
Pros: Lovely setting
Cons: Poor service from staff in restaurant Not very attentive, Need to have a person from the Kitchen serving fresh eggs at breakfast as they tend to sit in warming tray for a very long time and have to ask for it to be replenished also a toaster that works
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location and quality of property
Cons: Front end staff on customer experience can be better. It was not poor but average

Cons: The pool was very cold
7,0 Good
Pros: amazing breakfast ...perfect location of beach
Cons: everything under control
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food was varied and delicious. We found something we loved each morning and evening. The hotel is lovely, lots of space for its residents to relax. The pool is small but never felt overcrowded due to the garden area also.
Cons: There needs to be more bar staff of an afternoon/ early evening to facilitate the guests wanting a late afternoon drink around the pool. Each day there was only one which made the wait a little longer than expected.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about hotel, accommodations, staff, especially Paola, the Director was fabulous. The area is awesome, lots of restaurants, nitelife at your doorstep and already looking forward to our next visit!!!
Cons: Liked everything
7,0 Good
Pros: Location is perfect, staff was very friendly.
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable, the room had no view. Breakfast was a disaster. We arrived 20min before closing time and we had difficulties to find a clean and prepared table. Absence of staff was also not cool. We had to prepare a table for ourselves and we had to go after everything since nobody showed up during the 5min we waited at the entrance. On the level of option, breakfast was not at the level of a 4star hotel. Also we tried to have a spa session but the spa was closed, despite the timetable said it should be open. not the best experience and for almost the same price we had next to it a 5* hotel. We only took this one since it was adults only.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We had the superior room with sea-view and it was great - nicely decorated, with a big balcony and all the facilities you need. The personnel is very welcoming and helpful, although we arrived late they prepared a late snack for us. The food is excellent, especially during dinner, you will find very good fish, sea food and meat, desserts were also excellent. The garden and the pool are very clean and the hotel provides also with towels.
Cons: The only drinks you get are during breakfast. For dinner every drink (including water) has to be payed for extra.
7,0 Good
Pros: The view on the beach and the location. Nelson, Tania (Resto)and Mario at the reception were very nice.
Cons: Bed was very uncomfortable, hard and you could feel the springs . No coffee in the rooms, only tea and no sugar unless you asked. If you include dinner in your package, all drinks including water, coffee, etc have an extra charge.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: brillant hotel lovely and quite we arrived late at night reception still waiting for us at 23.40 and had saved us a meal which i thought was great . Rooms have all you need and a stunning view over the beach
Cons: some of the older staff in the restaurant could have been a bit friendly
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location. Staff. Beautiful building.
Cons: Coffee beans in restaurant need to be higher quality for this level of hotel. Such a shame we had to go out in the morning at breakfast time to find a decent Portuguese cup of coffee.
6,8 Good
Pros: Staff all very friendly
Cons: I was annoyed that the hotel did not pre warn us that a music festival was on during our stay.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owner/ staffs were extremely helpful and nice! Exceptional hospitality! Location was perfect (walking distance to the beach, markets, and restaurants but located in a quiet neighborhood). Spacious and clean room for a family of 4. Free parking and breakfast are always a plus.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The villa is at an excellent location: only a 5-minute walk from the center, yet there is absolutely no noise, ensuring a perfectly peaceful stay. Great continental breakfast on the balcony with a sea view, excellent pool, quiet private terrace, huge walk-in shower, abundant private parking. Most importantly, the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful!
Cons: Number and placement of power sockets was inadequate even for two people, may want to bring/request an extension.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Fab location.
Cons: It would've been good to have ability to buy refreshments whilst sat around the pool.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location just up the hill from beach and all bars and restaurants literally a 5 min walk. Lovely staff and really helpful. On check in the man at reception told us everything we needed to know and see in Carvoeiro. Our room was basic but was spotless. Cleaned everyday with fresh towels and sheets. Every morning there was a lovely continental breakfast. Everything was so fresh and all the bread and pastries were still warm. Will definitely be returning.
Cons: no balcony

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place. Great position. Lovely family feel.
Cons: Not enough sun beds
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Owner was very friendly. Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed sitting out on the terrace eating it every morning. Location for us was perfect being close enough to walk to the beach and square but far enough away for it to be nice and quiet. The hotel was immaculately clean and was cleaned daily. You won’t get better value for money in Carvoeiro.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Excellent staff and place excived my expectations. With breakfast included.
Cons: Nothing I like all

Pros: Breakfast buffet was amazing Really good location
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and the hotel is opposite the beach which is really convenient. The staff were so nice even though we were attending a festival they were still hospitable and helpful
Cons: The door of our room got jammed a few times. The fridge was as cold as we would have liked it to be.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and nice to everyone The rooms were very spacious The bed was massive and comfortable The location was perfect
Cons: Nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Room was amazing. Gorgeous views and fantastic breakfast
Cons: The pool area is small for the size of the hotel and gets quite shaded but the beach is across the road
8,5 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast with lots of variety. Rooms are spacious. Staff is very friendly, especially Pedro!
Cons: Nothing regarding the hotel itself, but Portimão is run down and dilapidated. This hotel is one of the best on the boardwalk.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Lots of choices for breakfast. Lots of restaurants in area. Close to beach!
Cons: Only complaint is- we had a sea view room, but there was a huge video screen right across the street that played 24/7. If you have a sea view room ask to be on a floor higher then 3!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the location the hotel and the staff I had a wonderful stay thank you
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was central or Portimao had all the shops/beach super close
Cons: nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect! We were close to the beach. You can walk to restaurants, bars, casino. There were white tee pees down the street where you can buy sourvenirs and there was a carousel ride for children. It was a fun weekend for the whole family.
Cons: Parking was €20 a day. There was a dirt lot where you can park for free. It’s about a 10 minute walk. The refrigerator in our room was not working so we couldn’t store water for it to get cold. The bathroom door seemed to once have a lock and it was removed. So you can peak through the door and see inside or out.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Algarve is expensive. I thought the junior suite and half board package was a great value for the area and our family of 4. Both breakfast and dinner (that's thru half board) had great options. I loved the expansive salad bar at dinner and the champagne at brunch.
Cons: The air conditioning did not cool the room well.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location, amazing suite.
Cons: Noise!! Music Festival on in Praia de Rocha which resulted in 100s descending into centre and in our hotel, security didn’t seem to have any control over them. Loud and abnoxious groups coming down corridors late at night and large groups out on balconies and room next to us . We complained to security but yet the noise carried on, our son was unwell also and had no sleep because of this, none of us actually had any sleep! we had no choice but to put up with the noise, very upsetting!

9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean environment, on time room services and beautiful complex in general.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was great. We really enjoyed the location and facilities. While we were there the indoor pool was closed for annual maintenance which was annoying. But overall beautiful property with helpful staff. There is a great winery nearby where we went for lunch one of the days it was fabulous.
Cons: Overall everything was great. I don't really have any suggestions on the stay.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: It was an ok hotel. There was nothing amazing about it.
Cons: Rather average hotel, but sold as a luxury spa and resort. Rather expensive for what it is. Terrible breakfast buffet. Spa was almost non existent with one staff. Food at jasmine bar was horrible.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic in this Hotel we spent a wonderful weekend there. There is very beautiful beaches nearby. Swimming pool was great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly helpful (we arrived much earlier than check-in time and checked out later too because we had a late flight). Transfer bust to beaches was excellent and driver was very friendly. All the front desk staff were excellent. Room was spotless and bathrooms were immaculate. Stayed in the two bed apartment with garden view (not pool view) which we found to be private and peaceful. Pool was lovely and breakfast was excellent. Poolside restaurant food was good too. We used the kids club for our 5 year old and it was very good with some great activities (reptiles, parrot show etc). An excellent experience all round, and would visit again.
Cons: Neighbours were very noisy on one evening and the design of the apartment meant our master bedroom was next to the neighbours front/living room. So music and voices were very loud (after midnight) whilst we were trying to sleep. That was only an issue on one evening and it didnt affect our stay. I would say most of the residents are very considerate. The location was remote (which we liked) and many residents had a car (we didn't). We only stayed for 7 nights and managed perfectly without a car (using the transfer bus 3 times), but I think if you were staying longer you may want a car to visit more of the area (restaurants etc).
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: The breakfast was not up to standard in quality and variation for such a nice hotel
7,0 Good
Pros: Size, lay-out and comfort of the apartment. Direct access to garden. Friendly staff. Nice sunbeds pool area.
Cons: Very slow and inefficient F&B service. Although staff is very friendly, ordering drinks and a meal @ pool bar took forever.
5,8 Okay
Pros: We needed a total rest, and the hotel certainly had the facilities for us to sit by a pool for 4 days. Our rooms were next door to each other and the resort is very quiet at night, so we rested well. The pool was nice and there weren't too many other people using the resort who weren't staying there.
Cons: The competition in the Algarve is strong and we felt that the hotel was a bit old and run down for the prices we paid. We were very disappointed with the food. Breakfast was only OK and we had the Moroccan Buffet on the first night and it was awful - and cost 28 Euro per person!!!!! Nothing Moroccan about it. This meant we went out every day for lunch and dinner which was OK, but not what we had wanted. We played pingpong a fair bit (to escape the heat of the day) and whilst there were plenty of tables, we had to pay 5 Euros to rent the equipment!!! We were paying so much to stay there and then had to pay more to play pingpong????? And the areas were very dusty and dirty - not cleaned once during our 4 night stay. The staff were sweet but very young and inexperienced. The lady who served us during the Moroccan buffet wasn't even sure how to open a wine bottle. We felt we were paying Algarve prices for a sub standard experience.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: A modern hotel complex - I loved the overall design with echoes from Portugal’s Moorish architectural past built in. Our room was large, well appointed and comfortable with bathrobe and slippers supplied. The Health club likewise had a well equipped gym with a good choice of classes and facilities included both indoor as well as an outdoor pool. The grounds were well tended. Tea making facilities were provided in the bedrooms. Breakfast offered a fantastic choice to cater for all tastes. Everywhere was spacious and tastefully decorated with water features throughout.
Cons: I can’t think of anything.

Pros: Great place. A bit inland, but free shuttle to the beach each day. Great facilities in the hotel and great breakfast.
Cons: The place was great. Not sure how good the main restaurant menu was for children though
7,5 Good
Pros: nice hotel, little dated
Cons: I think all employees working in a hotel, those at the breakfast but for sure those at the reception should greet you when you are passing by...A smile costs nothing...I think this is the management’s responsibility ...apart from that good hotel
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, nice facilities and good restaurant
Cons: There should be a door separating bedroom and living room. Also a bit pricey for basic stuff like water.
6,3 Good
Pros: The property looks great, great garden in the back with an equal amazing pool. Rooms have a decent size and a great bed. Nice pool bar. Ample parking space. Great staff at the reception, always happy to help and offer recommendations.
Cons: The walls of the rooms are paper thin. Could hear kids playing pool downstairs, and the live music that they had on occasion (playing for I don’t know who because nobody stayed there to enjoy the show). Breakfast menu needs a reworking. Had the worst selection of ham and salami. Scrambled eggs were tasteless. Pool bar menu for lunch is okish. Pizza dough is frozen pizza dough and the chef piles huge amounts of cheese on it to compensate. Some cocktails are done in a hurry and they do not taste good. Serving staff definitely needs a training on how to serve and wait tables. The amount of times they come over to clean your table during breakfast gets annoying quick.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had our honeymoon stay and they surprised us by giving a champagne and fruit platter in our room.
6,8 Good
Pros: THE BREAKFAST, ENTERTAINMENT AND STAFF WERE GREAT
Cons: The wifi is slow. wouldn't have noticed if managed to afford the overpriced stay. The ad was misleading and so was a member of staff (lady that told me in email that hotel would look after me and my family concerning activities) I realised she just wanted me to pay more money as she did not advise cheapest option. Told me was best to book with her. I spent everything on this holiday but will never book with booking. com again, because it seems they too don't care about their customers. Then you removed my Genius account till i book with you again? NEVER!! The children did not like the lunch menu ...not wide enough selection prehaps and therefore had to fork out for more food before having to pay for dinner in a few hours. I didn't like the whole experience starting from Gatwick AIRPORT!
7,5 Good
Pros: The place was beautiful, clean and friendly staff.
Cons: We didn’t manage to use the restaurant (always fully booked)or try the massage cause no availability. The pool was always very crowded and the umbrellas where not always free or sun beds.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, beautiful grounds of the hotel - we stayed in one of the Villas, and it was lovely. Beautiful pool, superb food at both restaurants, and lovely breakfast. The best part of this hotel is truly the staff - what a wonderful group of people. So happy to help you, warm and friendly, never too busy, and such attentiveness. What a difference it makes. We really hope to return, and highly recommend this hotel - especially to those travelling with young kids. Kids Club was amazing, and the entire place is both kid and adult friendly.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities
Cons: N/A
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good: Food (restaurant Serenata) & breakfast, swimming pool, room; all the property is beautiful and staff is very nice and helpful, especially Raquel explaining everything always with a smile!
Cons: Nothing to report.

We have three outdoor pools, including a large main pool and one for kids. There’s also a children’s playground and a gym for those wanting to work out while they’re away.

Pros: Nice quality apartments at the marina. With a small balcony. Just for 2. With underground parking. Nice staff. The hotel swimming pool was quite popular. If you are a late riser then all sunbeds are occupied. The hotel is a short walk from the sea. With easy access. The beach is very wide and long. The boardwalk (kilometers) has good restaurants. Can recommend the restauarants Farol and Nautico. Nice view at sundown.
Cons: People occupying sunbeds just with a towel without using it.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: nice Size room kept very clean and a good selection of toiletries. There is a fridge in the room which is great for keeping water etc cold.
Cons: The a/c was poor it took 2 days to cool the room even after complaining at reception. You are charged for the coffee in the room, and breakfast is terrible you have to hunt out a clean table and it can take up to 20 minutes to get a fresh egg cooked, the coffee is terrible.

6,8 Good
Pros: A 1-room holiday apartment with fridge and small kitchen. With a terras facing the swimming pool. The nearby beaches are cosy but small and difficult access.
Cons: Besides the swimming pool not so much to do in this area. Going to the beach just by car. And be early, otherwise you need to park a good walk distance. With a good inclination The furniture of the apartment (chair and sofa) were not comfortable.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in two bedroom villa was lovely and spacious with own private outside space. Had everything you could need and more!! Lovely and clean. Restaurant onsite offered fantastic food at good value served by friendly waiters!!
Cons: Really lacking a proper shop onsite two small cafes sold limited drinks ice creams etc but would have needed more choice of groceries especially as all accommodation was self catering!! Substantial walk to nearest shop/supermarket.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Peacefulness, cleanliness. Room service everyday. They take your garbage, change towels. Shuttle service daily 5 times to the town of Armacao de Pera. Beach rocky but plenty of markets. Buy something if you are going back with the bus. We loved the local beach more. Swimming pools for adults and kids. Wi-Fi 1€/day. Runs 5 devices. They do bookings for different trips too. A.C was in both rooms. Recommend to others.
Cons: Distance from supermarket and beach. Quite a bit of walking both ways. No thing basic was provided in kitchen. That's not a negative but tip for fellow travellers. Remember to buy what you need for cooking plus dishwashing liquid too.
7,5 Good
Pros: The swmming pool was perfect, big in size with separate baby pool too, great little playground, The gardens were beautifully maintained and public areas were kept really clean, the staff were very friendly. Family friendly and great facilities.
Cons: The place is very open anyone can walk in, i had a problem with Ants in my apartment and the wardrobe stunk of must, decor def needs updating. The location wasnt great, its about 30 min walk downhill to the town, too steep for me to walk back up and paths are not buggy friendly, there is a free shuttle bus service at certain times but i had to use a lot of taxis and spent a lot of time waiting for taxis.

Pros: I had a clean and spacious room all for myself. The personnel was very informative and friendly.
8,6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is owned by a family who also live in the hotel. They are always available to help and offer any services that they can. They first helped us find a place to eat when we arrived late. Then they borrowed us free beach towels ( and offered free umbrellas, chairs, and beach paddles), allowed us to use their printer, and were overall excellent hosts. Breakfast was nice bread, meat, and cheese and was very good (best free breakfast we have received while in Europe). The room was very clean and nice enough condition. I absolutely would stay again.

Pros: personel tres sympatiquetres propre, bom prix
Cons: mal imsonorisationstationement dans la rue, mais jamais manqué de place
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Staying at Sao Roque was great. The couple running Sao Roque thought about absolutely everything and treated us like queens, from offering us a welcome drink and letting us check in early to a huge, wonderful, personalised breakfast, tips for great places to see and eat and help with taxis and transport. A really wonderfully personable experience - would definitely stay here again.

Pros: The hosts are amazing and friendly if you ever need anything just ask and they are always willing to help out with airport transfers or irons. Just a ten minute walk from the beach in a beautiful residential area. Supermarkets and atm is close by and the orange juice at breakfast is incredible you will constantly want more. Each room has a balcony and its a comfortable place to stay with family, friends or partners. Would definitely stay here again as its amazing value for money. Thank you Sao Roque!

7,0 Good
Pros: The personal was very nice. They got soya milk for us and a sliced fresh tomato
Cons: Pillows are just horrible... I don't know anybody who would keep them longer, please change it. Breakfast was ok, white bread and industrial croissants. No fruit or muesli. The location is a bit out of centre
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, very good, clean hotel, we will recommended
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was continental with white buns, mini brioche, butter, jam, ham, cheese and different types of hot and cold beverages. The owners even offered us fresh sliced tomato with olive oil every morning and nutella for our son :) Overall, we received a LOT of food; as soon our plate was empty, they refilled the table immediately with new supplies. The hotel is situated in a great neighbourhood, you really live with locals here, away from the tourists. The owners are super friendly, they helped us with tips about attractions, restaurants and activities every day. Special thanks for the champagne for my husband's birthday, it was so unattended! The beach is about 10-15 min walk, the center 5 min, so everything is nearby. The free parking on the street was a big plus!
Cons: It would have been nice with a browner bread as alternative but as said before, we had a lot of food for breakfast, so we never left the table hungry.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: very familiar, friendly, helpful
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was just a perfect place to start our holidays. The service was very good and warm. They booked a transfer for us from the airport to the hotel. The rooms were fine with everything you need. It was very nice to start every day with an extensive breakfast. The hotel was located in between the city center and the beach. We will remember this place as a very welcoming one and we will surely recommend. Thanks!

Cons: Appartment was out of power three times per day, had to plug the main switch over and over again (a bit of issue when dark). Mandatory swimming hat in pool, only finnish sauna working.

Pros: Location good. Beside the beach and pool a good size with no difficulty in getting sun loungers. Staff pleasant and sorted out any problems quickly. Great restaurants in Alvor.

Pros: The location to the beach and town was ideal
Cons: There was no evening sun to the apartment/veranda and the beds weren’t comfortable. The air con didn’t seem to cool the room and it was too noisy with guests/traffic to leave the window open... so I didn’t sleep all Week

Cons: more 4 stars than 5 stars
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful hotel and the staff are all amazing. So friendly and helpful, such a credit to the Hotel.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and available, very clean, good breakfast
Cons: Our bathroom (and hence the bedroom and the hallways) was smelling of the sewers, a problem related to the city sewage system - not the hotel - but nevertheless I wonder if measures could be taken to reduce the smell. For a 5 star hotel, several things were missing: - there were no clocks visible in the hotel, neither in the bedroom nor in the shared areas - the service at the bars was annoyingly slow - the wall deco - framed photos and posters - was repeated in several areas and even in the same walls - no coffee machine nor water boiler in the bedroom - the gym was very small, underequipped and badly ventilated - the swimming pool didn't have room for every guest at "rush hours"
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location and close to the beach. Room was clean.
Cons: The hotel is quite old and could do with a refurb.
4,3 Okay
Pros: The entrance looks and close to the venue of festival
Cons: I did not like how they told us on arrival that we had to pay a €300 deposit when that was not communicated. Staff was rude especially when I asked to speak to the manager! Housekeeper was so rude and would not helpful, refusing to talk to us when asked questions.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very helpful & friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent & so was the food available in the pool bar at lunchtimes.
Cons: The food in the Aladino restaurant was awful. This was such a surprise as everything else about the hotel was excellent. I was served tough pork fillets on a bed of pineapple & kiwi with apple sauce that had the consistency of water. It was like chewing a shoe & everything was cold. Very disappointing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from check in to check out was superb , breakfast wide choice to select from , ambience , service all excellent
Cons: No issues at all
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and cleaners. Comfortable bed. Fantastic location as its quiet away from night time madness. Great beach views. Saltwater pool a highlight. Nice beach towels. Great selection of sun loungers. Zero stress about anything staying here, loved it.
Cons: Expensive at €240pn. Would prefer a TV with USB capability. No coffee maker in room. Mini bar wouldn't open. Breakfast wasn't that great (but varied) and they forgot my coffee literally every single morning.

Pros: Location is great, pool area is lovely
Cons: Restaurant is badly understaffed and salads were very tiny
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: breakfast was good, the Apartment was spaceous and clean
Cons: The reception was clumsy. Made us feel disoriented and confused. Our luggage was thrown into a pickup truck as if we were on a ranch, and we were asked to help ourselves with the luggage, as there were no "men" to help the ladies at the reception. Not apt for a 5-star experience. We arrived at 10 o clock and requested an early check in, which they told us we would get, but our room was not ready until 15 o clock. The staff was okay, but they were clearly under staffed when we were there and waiters at the restaurant were stressed out and never smiling. Sometimes they would even ignore us, when we ordered a drink. Beds were uncomfortable. The sofa bed was horrible. The aircondition did not work and during the week, we stayed, the hotel did not get around to fix or replace it. No compensation was offered for that. The lunch and evening buffets were mediocre: boring recipes, fish and meat overcooked, potatoes almost raw etc. Location not good. No beaches or restaurants near. In high season there is a shuttle bus from hotel to nearest Beach (3 km away and not 2 km as stated on booking.com) but outside of season there is no shuttle bus even though we had fantastic weather and high temperatures. The hotel accepts big Groups at the cost of the standard offered the rest of the hotel guests. Normally there is a la carte menu with the half board meal plan, but during the week we stayed there was only buffet. The reason, they told us, was because they had a big Group of appr. 40 teenagers on tennis camp. Although the kids behaved, I don't think a 5 star hotel should host these kinds of Groups and it certainly shouldn't be at the cost of other paying guests. I would go as far as calling it fraud. We were told by staff that we had "bad luck" because we stayed at the hotel at the same time as they had a big Group. I simply cannot see how that should be our problem :(

Cons: Entertainment.

Pros: Great accommodation and fabulous customer experience
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness & comfort and customer service were excellent!
5,8 Okay
Pros: Accommodation bigger than expected
Cons: Not 5 star. Girl on reception was rude and unprofessional during check in. Rooms need basic maintenance, light bulbs, sealing around shower, cables being boxed in and lots of other small issues like this that you would not get in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Chose this hotel as they had an A la Carte half board menu. For the first 3 days of our 9 day stay they did and food was good. Then there was a large influx of school kids and they switched to a buffet. Things rapidly went down hill. Uncooked chicken, over cooked meat and fish. Not enough food to go round. Long waits. Cold food. The list goes on... I would rate it 3 star at best and would say if your looking for 5 star accommodation go elsewhere...

Pros: Brivate bool
Cons: Bed , towels ,furniture too bad not comfortable not luxury bet the Brice too expensive , no body help to take luggage
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the setting, it’s beautiful. Very helpful staff too. Ideal setting for a family holiday with young children.
5,5 Okay
Pros: The breakfasts were good, lots of choice. The reception staff were polite. Our villa was in a staggered terrace and some aspects of the design were good. E.g. no noise from neighbouring villas, quiet and private. We had pleasant areas to sit outside with a small patio and an upstairs covered balcony leading off the bedroom. The whole place was kept clean. The gardens were well kept.
Cons: At first glance the villa looked well equipped with Bosch appliances in the kitchen and spacious, freshly decorated rooms which appeared well furnished. However there was a lack of attention to detail and to simple comforts. The mattress cover on our double bed was very uncomfortable to lie on. It was too small for the bed and it did not lie flat. It was thin and backed in plastic so easily became skewed and creased and it felt sweaty. We informed staff in reception of this problem but it was not resolved. Two of our pillows felt lumpy and were the type filled with chunks of foam. During our first couple of days we needed to ask reception twice to get a second mug provided in our kitchen (there were lots of small coffee cups and glasses etc- but only one mug). Although we were pleased with the breakfasts, we only had one evening meal in the hotel’s restaurant - as we found it over priced and poor quality. There were not many other guests when we stayed, so nice and quiet but to the extent that it felt a bit weird and lacking in atmosphere. Many of the villas on the large hotel complex appeared to be empty. We were told it was too early in the season for the bus service to the beach.

Pros: The apartments are clean.
Cons: In this hotel you are constantly on a parking lot, walking between cars vs. being surrounded by a nice garden. The pool area isn't cleaned during the day and becomes cluttered and dirty in the afternoon. The apartments are tired and in urgent need of an update. The washing machine didn't work. The access to the nearby beach is via a road with a tiny side walk. Although we booked with a refundable rate and requested and were granted an earlier departure, the hotel still slapped a penalty of 1 additional night to our invoice.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing stay again and I will be back very soon. The girls on reception and the cleaners are so lovely. Amazing place and location.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious suites, pool and beach with walking proximity from hotel. Parking slots available for free .
5,5 Okay
Pros: Carvoeiro is a really nice place - Pestana Palms is situated 1.5kms from centre Nice centre - good beach - chilly sea 16-18 degrees
Cons: The location is ok circa 1.5kms for the Carvoeiro centre - food offered @ lunch / dinner is good and operates by 3rd party - breakfast is disappointing. Townhouse Superior V2 a little tired - black mould on bathroom ceiling - mosquito nets with damage - crazed bathroom ceramics - not really 4* Beach towels change every 2 days and they ran out one day! Pestana Group you need to do better.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The apartment was really confortable, however its need a remodelation because they are a litlle old and in my opinion the money that we paid for it was to high for our expectation. The most beatiful was the location it was incredible and near to the beach.

Pros: Staff were lovely, bed was comfortable and breakfast was great.
Cons: Cleaners didn’t change our dirty towels, they would just refold the dirty towels when they cleaned our room.

Cons: Very expensive wines and drinks

Pros: Great beds and pool. An excellent hotel for a fancy part of our trip and staff were amazing. Excellent breakfast and plenty of food options at the hotel
Cons: A bit pricey but to be expected for the clientele
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel grounds were beautiful. I traveled with my husband and 2 adult sons and they loved the golf course. Prices for golf were very reasonable. The decor is very traditional. Rooms were clean and nice but probably not renovated recently. The bed was very comfortable. There are a number of restaurants in the hotel but there are no restaurants within walking distance. We rented a car or you can use the hotel shuttle to Alvor which was awesome. The hotel has lounges and umbrellas and towels at Alvor beach (using the 10 min shuttle) the beach was beautiful...not too crowded with multiple restaurants that you can walk to (Restinga on the beach and Ruccula in the town were our favorites). My daughter was here at the same time and stayed in Portimao and I actually loved being at Penina so much more. It’s a real resort with sprawling beautiful grounds. It has a huge extremely clean pool with lots of lounges so there is no problem getting a spot by the pool to relax all day. The highlights were the grounds, the great beach access, with no extra charge for lounges, the amazing pool and the golf. If you like a resort on sprawling beautiful land this is the place for you. If you want to be near a town where you can walk to restaurants and bars you either need to use free shuttle, taxi, or rent a car. I loved my stay at Penina and would highly recommend it.
Cons: I did not have any complaints

Pros: Breakfast was very tasty. Wide selection of food was available. Hotel has a free parking available, which was very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Although we usually stayed away from the hotel, and came back there only for the night, we managed to use some of the facilities - for morning jogging.
Cons: Room was small and the view that was supposed to be a mounting view - was rather a roof/parking view. Also the hotel doesn't have a standard air conditioning - so when it was cold - we were unable to change the temperature.

Pros: My only suggestion would be to have a mirror near a plug point, other than that I couldn’t fault it!

Pros: Everything. It was comfortable, clean, quiet, relaxing. Overall an excellent hotel.
Cons: Internet acces (hotspot) was not great.

Pros: Great setting; fantastic golf; hotel with a lot of charm and personality; casual but professional lunch at the Cotton Club and a marvellous wine tasting dinner at the Grill restaurant on Nov 12! A fantastic experience.
Cons: Need to rent a car if you want to escape
5,0 Okay
Pros: The beds were incredibly comfortable!
Cons: We had booked a wine/pairing dinner hence decided to stay overnight. It was a nice event but we were both ill that night and the next day. At first we thought we'd had too much wine (a few glasses but I don't think more than anyone else at dinner). We mentioned at checkout feeling a bit rough but we still had mild food poisoning type symptoms the rest of the day and realised it was in fact 'in the stomach' and not a hangover! It was difficult to know what to do but we thought the chef ought to know in case it was bad seafood ? so we reported it to the hotel front desk later on 13th but she wasn't very helpful. It's not a complaint as we didn't ask her to do anything only to tell the chef and to be aware others might report symptoms.

Pros: I have been visiting Penina for over 30 years now - it is truly a special place. The setting is spectacular, with immaculate golf courses, and beautiful garden areas. Facilites are superb and the staff are charming. With fewer than 200 rooms, the hotel never feels crowded. Highly recommended.
7,7 Good
Pros: Superb surrondings, very charming hotel with tasteful decoration. Huge swimming pool. Very efficient service. And a super plus, fresh toals and private chaise-longs on the nearst beach. We just loved our stay.
Cons: No free Wi-Fi; but that forced us to disconnect more :-)
7,0 Good
Pros: The standard of housekeeping was very poor. Room not made up some days until late evening despite several calls to reception. Only on last day was this satisfactory.
6,4 Good
Pros: Five star atmosphere, lovely food. Good shuttle bus to the beach
Cons:
4,4 Okay
Pros: The swimming pool area is great!
Cons: The staff at reception was not nice. And the rooms need to be renewed.
6,0 Good
Pros:
Cons: Wen I arrive, the room that was reserved to me was very poor ( a two stars hotel dont have a room like that ). I made a complain and they change the room. But I think a 5 Stars Hotel can put a guess in a room like that, and if we go to a Hotel like this one, we never think that we must have to discuss the quality of a room
7,6 Good
Pros: staff helpful and friendly / hotel grounds were superb /
Cons: drinks were extremely expensive
4,8 Okay
Pros: Swiming pool and garden.
Cons: If you are not a golf player, this is not a hotel to stay in. It is far from anywhere I.E. Alvor and Lagos. Rooms are average for 5 star hotels. No beach nearby. Their private beach is not good for swimming: too cold.
