It was quite upmarket yet laid back with friendly, efficient service, a lovely pool area and gardens and a bistro style restaurant that offered a 20 euro 3 course meal as well as a la carte and everything served was delicious.
The townhouse bathroom fitments were elderly and some tiles cracked but overall the accommodation was incredible value, spacious and with a large modern kitchen and with nice touches such as the hammock on the terrace.
The resort just gets better. The guests are mostly European, probably less than 10% British and the resort is tranquil and very low-key. You don't come here for the nightlife or entertainment but to relax and enjoy Portugal. If you're staying for more than a few days, you'll need a car or you might get restless. The staff are very helpful and courteous and the housekeeping is faultless. We wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
the quietness
We were upgraded to a duplex townhouse from a double room as I believe the hotel was overbooked. The duplex townhouse was beautiful with three full bathrooms, a large living a dn agood sized kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher, cooker, microwave etx. There was a balcony plus a terrace with a beautiful view over the pool and gardens.
It is a long way from the nearest village, with the nearest shop three kilometres away therefore we felt it would be necessary to have a car if staying at this location (which we didn't have!!)
Nice hotel in a beautiful surrounding. Qiet room with comfortable bed. Easy to find (but don't go according to the recommendations when booking at booking.com which will give you the shortest but not the easiest and most comfortable way).
Hard to find anything ... maybe it should be noted that it may be unpleasant to reach the breakfast room which is in little distance to the hotel and can only be reached by walking outside: This was inconvenient during rainy and windy conditions including slippery stairs.
The staff are helpful, friendly and want you to enjoy your stay. We've been a few times and it's nice to see so many familiar faces - a sign of a happy team. Its very peaceful and relaxing and the resort has a distinctly European feel. We like the fact there are lots of different nationalities and types of guests (families with young children & couples) and hope that it stays that way.
No.
Beautiful lounge and bar area. Externally the pool area and gardens were of a high standard. Suite was very clean and had everything we needed.
The breakfast was very poor for a 4* Hotel, struggled to find something nice to eat and when we had lunch this was also very disappointing. Therefore we decided against having an evening meal at the Hotel.
The 'Town House' that we stayed in was spacious, clean and modern. Hotel pools were well maintained and pool staff always helpful.Use of towels for poolside very good. Poolside bar/terrace accomodated breakfast, this was excellent in terms of choice and quality.Very relaxed upmarket atmosphere.
On occation the reception staff were not as helpful as we would expect.
facilities, and being taken care of. closeness to beach
lack of large unbrells around the pool
Exceptional service, friendly staff, very clean and spacious rooms. I stayed here for one week in May. There were not too many guests and the atmosphere was relaxed.
If you want to go to the beach, you'll need a car or a bike (bike from 7euros a day, about 20 minutes to Carvoeiro beach). You can get a cab for 10 euros.
With a stay at Vale del Rei Hotel & Villas in Carvoeiro (Lagoa e Carvoeiro), you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Benagil Beach and Marinha Beach. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
