Pienza hotels

Pros: Monica brought a lovely breakfast each morning with fresh pastries, cheeses, yougert, etc. It was nice to wake and not have to cook. We also saved for snacks later as we sipped wine that they produce on the farm. It was delightful.

Pros: Fabulous quaint and charming facility, large room, comfortable bed, Monica was extremely helpful and friendly. We loved having our ample breakfast delivered in a basket outside our door every morning, and taking it to the garden to enjoy. Great views, quiet location. This place is exactly what we pictured in an agritourismo. While we had plans to explore the area, we could very easily see staying at Agritourismo Cerreto all day to just relax and "get away".

Pros: Absolutely loved staying at this Agriturismo! We really enjoyed everything it had to offer, a real rustic Tuscan experience we were looking for. Our suite felt homely and comfortable, not a shiny modern hotel room. The facilities were perfectly adequate for our needs and it all fed into the perfect authentic stay. We had a delicious breakfast picnic hamper delivered to our door each morning which varied day to day. A proper Tuscan breakfast outside over looking iconic Tuscan landscape from our private porch was just amazing. Same location served for romantic evenings with property-produced wine and locally produced foods and Tuscan sunsets made for a perfect honeymoon experience. The pool was an added bonus that’s perfectly maintained and so nice to relax by and swim to cool down. Marion was so pleasant and helpful with local knowledge of all the best restaurants and wineries to visit.

Cons: Really hard to find any fault with the property.

Cons: For me as I’m looking for a very quiet places this facility was a little bit too close to the road so you could hear the cars in the morning. Otherwise location was great.

Pros: The location was beautiful and close to Pienza. They are a small facility offering a peaceful escape with beautiful wine countryside to relax. The 3 bedroom apartment was spacious and came with a clean and luxurious offering of supplies.

Cons: It is great that the costs are split up, reducing the base cost; but be careful of what things add up to.

Pros: Spectacular views and magical area! Close to Penza and Montepulciano! Great places around in case you are interested in making some great shots or videos! Calm and perfect location to rest and enjoy all the best from what Tuscany offers!

Pros: Lucia could not be more helpful, and friendly - as well as Kristina who cleaned our room daily. Although we had to leave crack of dawn on the last morning, Lucia insisted getting us breakfast. The rooms were always so clean - even with mini bar - cork screw/ bottle opener and wine glasses. It was 20 mins walk to beautiful Pienza (10 mins by shortcut). I will be back

Pros: We had a most pleasant stay at Il Colombaiolo, the hosts were absolutely welcoming and even bought vegan products for us for breakfast! We enjoyed the fabulous view over the Orcia valley and having the opportunity to live in a wonderful Toscan brick house. Our room with adjoining bathroom is absolutely perfect and super clean and breakfast was rich in its variety and delicious. We will definitely come again!

Pros: The view from the property was beautiful and room itself was very clean.

Cons: Lucia or anybody else on the property doesn’t speak much of English which caused us problems in communication with her. We weren’t notified that cleaning lady will clean the apartment every day so we were still in our apartment in the morning when she entered in and we were asked to leave so she can clean the apartment. There is no do not disturb sign to hang on the door which would help a lot in cases like this. Also, please be aware that air conditioning is not included in price (additional 5 EUR if paid in cash or 10 EUR if paid by card). The location is great if you would like to spend time on property, but if you would like to go to Pienza and spend time there (like we did) the routes are not so good - one option is walking by the steep main road w/o pedestrian part and no night lights and other is through gravel olive plantation (private space, also not lightened and very steep). If you intend to walk to Pienza prepare for sweaty 15-20 min walking with either option. The property itself has numerous rules which you must obey. Also, we forgot something in the apartment and asked the Lucia to mail it back to us with shipping on us where she asked us for additional EUR 5 for her services (and shipping was EUR 10). All in all we didn’t feel welcome from the very first moment. We will for sure get back to Pienza, but will not stay in Agroturismo Il Colombaiolo.

Pros: The location is beautiful, very close to the city, quiet, beautiful view from the window and from the garden. Breakfast is perfect, as in the best restaurant. Service at breakfast was organized at the highest level. The hostess made the best cappuccino that I drank in my life.

Pros: the breakfast was great and my wife's gluten intolerance was well catered for. It was great to be on a working farm directly below one of Tuscany's most beautiful cities less than five minutes away with beautiful dramatic views over to Monte Amiata and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. A most relaxing and welcoming place to stay.

Pros: This is the second time we have stayed at Il Colombaiolo, and both visits have been exceptional. Pienza is an excellent base for touring the area, and is itself a lovely town. Il Colombaiolo is very convenient to Pienza, and is spacious, comfortable, spotless, and full of amenities. The breakfasts are outstanding, and varied across the days. During our previous visit, our breakfasts were on a patio with a beautiful panoramic view of the Val d"Orcia; this time, because it was colder, breakfasts had moved inside (to a very pleasant room).

Cons: A bit further away from Pienza than was stated and steep walk up a hill so need to be relatively fit. If you require breakfast make sure you request it in advance of your stay.

Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Il Colombaiolo! Our hostess was delightful and she worked very hard to make everything perfect. The breakfast was delicious, the best we had in Italy, and the setting was beautiful, looking out over the valley. We highly recommend Il Colombaiolo to anyone looking for a special place to stay in Italy. We will stay again.

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and bedding very clean. We found it strange that there was a microwave in the room but no kettle or glasses, so we bought bottled water but had no way of drinking it other than from the bottle.

Pros: The room and bathroom was much more spacious than expected for the money. Decor was comfy but not super stylish. Staff was helpful. Everything was super clean. We had a good stay here. Oh, and free parking was a big plus! Also, it is 5 minutes walk to the historic section of Pienza. A perfect base for exploring Tuscany. Breakfast not included, but we found breakfast in medieval Pienza, just a few minutes walk away.

Cons: I would have preferred to have breakfast on site. No other complaints.

Pros: Very nice hotel. Had a bed and breakfast feel to it (although it was not). The staff is very kind. The hotel is small and in an excellent location. It is cozy and quiet, yet right near the central part of the village. There was plenty of parking (and it was free). The price was excellent for the room and location. Oh, and great wi-fi!

Pros: Great location just off the main road leading into Pienza overlooking the Val d’Orcia and minutes from the town centre. Ben the owner was very friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned everyday, was large and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: After a long day of travel, pulling into the hotel with parking taken care and a pleasant welcome was exactly the comfort we needed. The closest you can stay to walk in and out of Pienza without having to worry about the ZTL, and convenient for taking a car in and out of the garage to travel elsewhere. Would absolutely return again.

Cons: sofa, bed cover and blankets were a little old and made me not feel comfortable. there was no slippery and floor was sooo cold. and also no tea/coffee facilities in the room. they gave us a kettle (and cups but no tea or coffee) after we asked. but it would be better if we could find in the room.

Pros: This was my 3rd stay at the Hotel Corsignano and yet again it didn’t disappoint. Excellent accommodation, spotlessly clean, wonderful staff and a great breakfast. The location is very convenient for a walk into Pienza. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Pros: Breakfast was buffet style with a great selection of hot and cold foods. Espressos and cappuccinos were delightful. Well appointed room and hotel. Staff was friendly and engaging. Walking distance to the old town and easy to access by car. Definitely stay there again but for a week not 3 nights so we can do more day trips to the surrounding wineries.

Pros: Great location convenient to the gates of Pienza but still quiet and a block away from the southern wall with great views of Val D' Orcia. I booked two rooms and got one with a great view and the other close to the deck with hot tub.

Pros: We really loved staying at Il Giardino Segreto. The room was very cozy. The owner has a great sense for details (full fridge with orange juice, yogurt, biscuits; and access to coffee) which renders your stay very comfortable. Moreover, she is very attentive and helpful (e.g., she let us do laundry although it is not a service provided by the hotel). The hotel is right in the city center with a beautiful garden that invites you to stay and enjoy the day.

We were there on a rainy day so we weren't able to utilize the outdoor dining at breakfast but we still give the breakfast service high marks. The bathroom had a great shower - very large! One reception staff Silvia was very friendly and helpful in giving info about restaurants and simply just acknowledging us! A polar difference from all the other staff. Eco/recycled toilet paper. Luggage storage facility.

Cons: Check in - cold, dry welcome. No info given about basics like internet, wifi, breakfast etc. Or even about the town or its info center. One word responses to all questions. Predominant staff attitude- dry and somehow unwelcoming. And quick no or one word responses to everything. (could be a language thing but our experience in italy over years is that people do make an effort to connect and help even when language is a constraint. The staff here just appeared as though they don't care much). Breakfast- good spread but sub par quality. Fruit not replenished over the days. Cold fried eggs that are burnt at the bottom. Our room layout - room looking into the parking and weird layout of the bed facing the bathroom,giving the space a closed, stuffy appeal. Worn out room ambience. Terrible wifi.

Pros: From check in to check out. This entire accommodation with view, accessibility, staff and pricing, this is one of the best properties I have stayed at in the Tuscan countryside.

Pros: The property is lovely. The room overall really nice. Pies and tarts ar breakfast really delicious. The food for dinner was ok.

Cons: If you open the window, you can hear all cars that pass on the busy road - in the summer this is definitely an issue. The windows are not very sound proof. You can hear the noise from the bathroom of the other room. A baby bed was outside the room on the halway - it looked very out of place.

Pros: What a lovely property. Right in the middle of Tuscan countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of towns but still a stone's throw away from Motepulciano and Pienza on either side. The property itself is pretty decadent, with tastefully decorated room displaying a rustic charm. But, probably the highlight of our stay was the food - homegrown ingredients, full of flavor awesomeness. At the end of the stay, we wished we would have stayed longer and resolved to return.

Cons: When booking, make sure to ask for a room that is all on one floor. With ours, the bed was upstairs from the dressing area and bathroom. This might be difficult for some.

Pros: The staff was very accommodating and welcoming. Breakfast had a nice variety of foods. We ate dinner here every night and enjoyed every meal. It was so relaxing to go back after a busy day of seeing the countryside, have a drink and a wonderful meal, with no drive home afterward.

Cons: Our room had steps from the sleeping area down to the bathroom. Navigating the steps was especially challenging during the night.

Pros: This is a stunning place. The rooms are delightful, and the grounds are beautiful. Our hosts looked after us in every way. We ate at the restaurant both nights that we stayed, the food was delicious, and the wine was fab. The view of Pienza from the pool was stunning. We loved our stay.

Pros: The location is excellent, this is a thoroughly modern hotel, and we were expecting something a little more historic. Parking was extremely difficult and we spent a stressful hour and a half getting our car parked for the night.

Cons: Having booked only a standard room,, we were put in a corner of the hotel where access to the stairs passed a rolling laundry cart. When checking in and trying to get our bearings, we were directed away from the main part of the hotel by the staff and told the separate stairwell was our area. Only the next morning when we went to breakfast did we discover the terrace and pool area. We felt we were treated a bit like second-class citizens, and it made for a disappointing stay.

Pros: The hotel's location is excellent. Right in the center of the old town of Pienza. The structure itself is also very charming, as it is an old convent. The room was extremely quiet and warm. The restaurant terrace offers an amazing view.

Cons: The hotel facilities are very outdated including shower, bathrooms couch + chairs in the room and bedding. It could definitely use a renovation, and lower its star rating as well as prices until such renovation is completed. The breakfast options were largely focused on sweets and cakes, which tailors the Italian taste but not necessarily foreign ones. The breakfast/dining room can also get quite crowded during breakfast times, which might be a bit unpleasant. The staff at reception during check out was not very professional.

Pros: This is a great family run hotel that I have stayed at before. The people are wonderful, the breakfast good, and the location is hard to beat!
