Pros: Great owners really make this place. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown around the building and to our room. Every interaction with the owners was pleasant, and they were always available to help out with local advice and to try and make our stay more enjoyable. The building is beautiful and extremely well maintained and the location is excellent, just near the main town. Food was very enjoyable, and the whisky/wine bar was a great facility to have on the premises.

Pros: Staff were lovely, the bedroom was beautiful and clean and had really lovely furnishings that the room feel warm and inviting. I had a double room looking with sea view and it was perfect for me as I don't mind the noise but that may be offputting to some who prefer quieter rooms.

Pros: The location of the hotel seemed to be good and it was close to many restaurants and sites of interest.
Cons: The room we were in was on the second floor and the noise from the street was terrible. We had great difficulty sleeping because you could hear every word people were saying on the street. Unfortunately for us, they were yelling until 11:30 pm. We were traveling for weeks and in need of sleep. The room was the smallest of all the places we stayed in Scotland and it was impossible to move with our suitcases in the way. Probably better for one person.

Cons: There was an issue with our door, it wouldn't lock properly and this was not resolved during our stay which was a worry for us as we went out in the evening . The staff did offer a room move but this was not until 11pm so was unsuitable. No apology or compensation was offered. No hotel parking.

Cons: Stayed in 2 different rooms during this break. First room was ensuite. Too. Was very small with the bed against the wall. Tv was positioned on the wall and the way it faced meant you had to sit at the bottom of the bed as it did not move round. Second room was a twin with shared bathroom. Room was nice and spacious. Plenty bathrooms to choose from. Staying in the main building where reception is was really busy. This meant guests were sloppy and disrespectful of other guests, leaving unwashed dishes around snd itens in the sink. So we managed to use the quieter kitchen at the building next door. Someone also helped themselves to my friends food regardless of it being labelled. Have stayed here many times and noticed a big difference in the messy kitchen area.

Cons: -- Weird way to get to the rooms, you go to the back, past the bathrooms, and then up these stairs that looks more like a servants entry. Definitely doesn't feel like a luxurious stay considering the inital impression of how you even first get to your rooms
--The water heater was out on our floor so even though it was so cold out and all you wanted was a hot bath, the showers were chilly and even the heater for the room didn't work well so it was cold in the room
-- The staff was also not all that friendly. As a traveler, you just want to connect with people, but they seemed dismissive and unfriendly.
-- It's too bad as the location is so great but they really need to feel more like an upper scale hotel for where they're located, do remodeling to make the entryway or how you get to your rooms nicer, do not put people on floors with broken heaters, or next to other rooms that you will be able to hear others through the walls (which also happened). Space out the rooms if there is availability so you're not sharing a wall with someone.

Cons: A smile from one of the breakfast staff would have been appreciated and also it would have been nice to have been asked if we would like any more tea or coffee. Also, we were not informed as to how to vacant the place and nobody was there to receive our room keys or say goodbye. There were 17 rooms and only four occupied but our two rooms had no view of the water front which was rather disappointing as the place is right across from the water into Oban.

It’s overpriced for the accommodation included breakfast, quite disappointed. The guest house needs refurbishment update and its to much clutch! The mattress was hard and uncomfortable, also its not clean dusty the poster bed. We couldn’t sleep well because It was too noise outside. We would not go back again.

Cons: Nobody told us that it was possible to park for free in the sister/twin hotel Alexandra. At the beginning it was said that outside the hotel (the parking was full) it was free till the next morning, only when asked it was specified that it was from 18:00 and not from 17:00 (time at the moment). It was not possible to sleep well because of noise coming from upstairs, also at 05:00 in the morning (people speaking, walking ,run). At around 07:00 in the morning the fire alarm started. When spoken with reception it was said that someone had done the shower without closing the door of the bathroom (is it the real reason?) It was said to the reception about the noise coming from upstairs but it was like something not important for the person at the reception. Leaving the hotel it was asked to change money in coins for the parking but nothing. Very bad experience.

He was sick in the room which was not my responsibility as they should have got him to sign the TC with his name in stead they charged me £45 for clean up even know I was on the phone to a very cheeky woman saying I couldn't speck to the manger till the falling Thursday. Pros: Bit dated but excellent value for money.. We arrived to the most friendly welcome. Swimming pool was great at nice tepid temperature. Can't fault this place. It's certainly not the end of the world that the decor and furnishings are a bit tired looking. Any time I'm back in Oban I'll be checking availability here first.

Pros: I liked the characterful hotel and the staff were very welcoming. For me the location was perfect with fantastic views over the sea. The town is a very short walk with lots of bespoke shops.

Cons: First room had a leak and the carpet was wet. The manager promptly moved me to another room. Room dated and bed was a bit firm for my liking

Pros: How friendly the staff were, everyone said hello and made you feel completely at home and were always there when you need them. Breakfast sets you up for the day and you have plenty to choose from. The room was really good and had a spacious bathroom too. Will definitely be back here.

Pros: Breakfast was good. Bar prices reasonable. Atmosphere good, warm and cosy. Parking no problem. Staff friendly.Location fabulous. Room had heaters to warm the room sufficiently
Cons: We could of had a better room as we paid rack rate. The hotel was not full so we should have got a seaview room. There were some really stuffy blankets that need washing in the cupboard.

Cons: The full hotel from start to finish wasn't nice, unpleasant welcoming, bed covers were stained, bed was uncomfortable, shower was either freezing or roasting hot, through the night was noisy would not recommend.

The family-run Lancaster Hotel is right next to St Columba's Cathedral and has a view of Oban Bay. Built in 1850, it offers a swimming pool, snacks, meals and lounge areas. From the front rooms you can look down the Firth of Lorne, almost all the way to Easdale and across to Lismore, Ardnamurchan and Mull. Each room at Lancaster Hotel has a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. In the morning, a breakfast is served in the dining room with breathtaking views which include the island of Kerrera with the distant peaks of Mull in the background. Breakfast can be eaten in the rooms and hot snacks include macaroni cheese and lamb hotpot. The indoor swimming pool is 40 foot long and other leisure facilities include a steam room and a sauna. The bar has darts, a pool table, dominoes, cards, a TV and a jukebox. Oban Rail Station and Oban Ferry Terminal are only 5 minutes’ drive from the Lancaster. There is free parking at the property.
