This is a traditional hotel with an original building and a more recent additional building at the back which provides the 'partial sea view' which was nice. The room was a decent size, nice bed and the bathroom fine. Location is great, on the front and an easy walk into the main part of the town or the ferries. The staff were very good and very attentive and in particular looked after breakfast service very well. Buffet breakfast was very good- one of the best. Overall, a pleasant stay for the money and we'd stay here again.
The ambience in the lounge could be better- bright lights and loud ish muzak wasn't the most relaxing but that's being picky.
Bedroom - nice touch having a biscuit and soft drinks - the fruit too. Comfortable large bed and nice touch with coffee too.
Shower strength not great and thought the breakfast was disappointing. But what struck me was the amount of wastage. We were there later in the morning and there was full trays of everything - where once this might have been acceptable - these days with climate change and food waste high on the agenda - it doesn't suit well.
Location and the tub/shower was extremely clean.
The front office manager was extremely rude. She was never behind the desk. I tried calling on several Different occasions from my room and she wouldn’t answer. I had to take my night clothes off and put my street clothes back on to go and find her. When i finally did find her she was irritated that she had to deal with me. Walls were thin and the place was loud. Beds were very very hard.
Great location Efficient friendly staff Tea/coffee in room Rooms very clean
Noise could be an issue - rooms have spa baths, squeaky floorboards You have to park at sister hotel along the road if tiny carpark full
All the staff were lovely...very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us Very clean sparkly bathroom Fresh towels daily
Noisy lift right next to the room Had to pay more for a double bed!! Fire door wedged open so people could go out for a cigarette and then smoke outside our window
The Best Western Muthu Queens Hotel in Oban has been substantially refurbished to offer both Victorian charm and modern, functional accommodation. Stunning views can be found both inside and out, as the hotel boasts beautiful, cozy reception rooms and outdoor views of Oban that stretch for miles across the water. The friendly team of staff are just as inviting, keen to offer the warmest of welcomes to all guests. Reassuringly, you'll be staying in the only 4-Star full service hotel on the West Coast of Scotland – so there is no doubt about the quality you will enjoy. The lovely resort town of Oban offers plenty of attractions inside and outside of its parameters. Dunollie Castle stands just on the outskirts the town, and provides glorious views that reach the Island of Kerrera. The falls of Lora can be found just six miles away from Oban, and prove a perfect day out for any adrenaline junkies or budding photographers. Treat yourself to some kayaking or diving, or simply enjoy the outstanding scenery that is waiting to be snapped. We’d highly recommend Loch Creran for some of the most peaceful fishing around, just 30 minutes away from the hotel. The Best Western Muthu Queens Hotel is a magnificent building, with its own interesting history. The hotel is believed to have been built for the 1st Episcopalian Bishop of Argyll and the Islands, to become his home in the late 19th Century. At present, the building stands as a family run hotel, taken over by a friendly couple who saw great potential after staying on their honeymoon. The couple are proud to welcome their guests with unparalleled views over Oban Bay, an elegant interior and some of the best food in Oban.
