Staff was great
Restaurant/bar closed early. Reception areas entry not that impressive. Views of Central Park okay but not as advertised
Location was perfect! Shops below were ideal. View was incredible!
Location is good.
You cannot reserve a table in the bar by the window unless you are doing the flight of cocktails menu. So we got a table with no view and watched people who weren’t guests who were just paying for their cocktail menu and they got a seat in the window with the view. When we sat in our back room seats (despite paying for two rooms for two nights over Xmas week - a small fortune - certainly more than the $100 the window non guests were paying) we sat amongst food debris all over the carpet. The table wasn’t clean. You get nothing for free like other mandarin hotels in the group. No nuts or chips with your drinks. You have to pay for everything. In our bedroom we had a two minibars in the room. One was stocked full as normal the other was empty and was just lent against the wall - obviously belonging to another room and they had nowhere else to put it. Despite complaining - on our last night we had no turn down service and they apologised by giving us two bowls of fruit (much to my teenage sons annoyance) and also we were leaving at 6am the next day so we had no opportunity to eat it. A discounted bill would have been more effective and usefully Totally pointless. A real shame and disappointing trip for my 50th.
Breathtaking view to the Central Park and sunsets, the Aviary restaurant, friendly personnel.
The international trump hotel and tower before us and the Central Park )
Built in December 2003, the Asian-inspired Mandarin Oriental, New York is one of the most well thought out luxury hotels in Manhattan. It's discreetly located above Columbus Circle, on floors 35 through 54 of the Time Warner complex and near Central Park. The vast majority of guests here are posh couples and wealthy business travelers, but families are often guests as well.
The Mandarin Oriental's location is across from Central Park and at the gateway to the upscale Upper West Side. Occupying the upper level of the Time Warner Center allows guest private access to popular places without leaving the hotel, such as The Shops at Columbus Circle, a Whole Foods Market and Asiate, the hotel restaurant. The hotel spa and 75-foot indoor lap pool are also a luxurious treat for guest.
Columbus Circle station is a major transit hub, making it easy for guests to access the entire city. However, popular destinations such as The Broadway theater district, The Museum of Modern Art, designer shops on Fifth and Madison Avenue and time Square are only a 10-to-20 minute stroll from the hotel.
Accommodations at Mandarin Oriental, New York are modern and luxurious with hi-tech electronics and Asian décor. Standard Skyline View rooms average 400 square feet and all units have floor-to-ceiling windows. Guests can upgrade to higher floors for views of the city and Central Park. Standard amenities include HD LCD TVs, charging docks, yoga mats, automated minibars with Champagne and snacks, and ironing boards. Other traveling conveniences such as hairdryers, robes, slippers, and Fresh toiletries are also provided.
With a prime location, great views, and one of the best spas in the city, Mandarin Oriental is among the city's most luxurious hotels.
