The location was amazing, right underneath a huge castle on a cliff. Our room was right on the road and although there was some traffic noise in the morning, it was great to open the big shutters and lean out into the street. Parking wasn't a problem, free after 7pm. Although there were a number of restaurants nearby we drove to a nearby camping ground for a real value for money meal. Sarlat is only 9kms away and easy to find. Chose this hotel based on price and closeness to Sarlat. Was gobsmacked as we drove into the village and saw the castle on the hill, like staying in a fairytale!
The size of the room was almost claustrophic. If the removed the enormous freestanding wardrobe from the bedroom it would allow a bit more space and if a wardrobe is necessary just have the one in the bathroom. The suitcase stand is located in the bathroom right beside the washbasin - a problem if you splash water about. Our room was right behind the reception desk and as there was no one there people arriving thought that our room was the office. This was bit embarrassing. Didn't have breakfast as there didn't appear to be anything other than wheat products (no yoghurt, cheese etc for gluten free diets).

pretty village. convenient.
Photographs indicated that it was by the river. The hotel was 100 meters up a hill away from the river - the restaurant of the hotel was by the river.

Friendly helpful staff at a small hotel in an ideal location for sightseeing. We also enjoyed the breakfasts.

The building was interesting and in a good location, and was a good value. The owner was very nice and accommadating. For instance he picked us up and dropped us back off at the train station 10 km away.
As a two star hotel you can't expect everything to be perfect. The shower had a broken sprayer, so it wouldn't stay in place on the vertical rod. The room decor needed some updating (dark and in need of minor maintenance).
