Cons: I stay once before a while back at the time the carpets were clean and everything worked in my room , this this time I was glad I had slippers on as carpets not great, over head light I believe had a bulb out and the toilet wouldn’t flush . 8,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed over the Christmas period so were really only looking for a comfortable bed near family who were hosting celebrations in the local area and did not have space for us all in their house. It is quite an old inn but the rooms were clean, warm and well decorated albeit that they had uneven floors as is typical of many old buildings. We were limited to booking a breakfast inclusive package on the website but the hotel rang us a few days before arrival to tell us that they would significantly reduce the cost as they could not provide breakfast or room cleaning over the Christmas period. This was not a problem for us and provided exactly what we needed - particularly as there were tea/coffee facilities in the room. When we arrived we were met with great friendliness and the receptionist personally showed us to our room even though they were clearly busy setting up for Christmas eve business in their bar/restaurant. Being an old building it was something of a convoluted route with stairs but the receptionist was happy to carry bags if we had wanted her to. She also provided us with instruction on accessing the building late at night and an emergency number in case of problems
Cons: Our only complaints were things which could have been solved easily if it had not been the Christmas period as the time we spent with our family, the whole point of our visit, meant that we left early and returned late and so did not see any of the staff after our arrival. There was a problem with the TV remote control and we think we had the wrong password for the free wi-fi, both of which we felt were too small to raise on the emergency number we had also been given on arrival.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Comfortable room in a nicely located hotel
Cons: Booked for Christmas Eve for work reasons. Turned up to be informed there was no evening meal available as the restaurant was closed. Also told there would be no breakfast available as they were getting ready for lunch. Perhaps this could have been made clear at time of booking. Fortunately the excellent Italian restaurant next door was open so a good evening was had

Pros: Meals were very good and staff were very friendly and helpful

Everything was immaculate, comfortable and beautifully presented. The breakfast was outstanding. Thank you so much Graeme and Liz. Graeme even put on music especially for our daughter at breakfast and gave us the idea of seeing the starling murmurations on the Somerset Levels on the way home - which were spectacular and very special. Something we've always wanted to see. THANK YOU.

Pros: Friendly staff. Great location.
Cons: This was NOT a traditional country inn but adapted - and unfortunately not very sympathetically.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was delightful, superb value for money and the food exceptional. The owner/chef is a charming young man whose Caribbean side of the menu (I understand he and his family are from Martinique) looks super and obviously well received by the locals, as the restaurant was busy when I stayed on Wednesday. All the food coming to tables was beautifully presented and looked delicious. There were no complaints and very clean plates all round. I had the goat curry with rice and a version of coleslaw that was free of mayonnaise but tossed in a light, delicious oil based dressing. All quite exceptional. The menu also contains interesting vegetarian options. The staff were friendly and helpful - an obviously happy team. Breakfast again, was excellent - I have never had scrambled eggs so perfectly cooked and beautifully presented in any five star hotel that I have stayed. This young man deserves to do well - catch him before he's discovered and whisked off to London!!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike!
