Moderne Hostel

One of the perks of the Moderne Hostel is its close proximity to Mammoth Yosemite Airport, which is only a 20m drive by car away. Upon landing at Mammoth Yosemite Airport, get on the Airport Road and turn left onto Hot Creek Hatchery Road. From here, turn right to continue on to US-395 North and follow the road until exit 263. After you’ve left the main road, continue on to CA-203 West. The hotel will pull up on the left-hand side.

Apart from extensive hike and bike trails that literally begin in front of the hostel door, this no-frills accommodation also indulges guests with barbecue facilities that guests can use at their convenience. Here, guests from all over the world can mingle and enjoy tasty delights from the grill to regain their strength after wandering through the surrounding nature.

During your stay at the Moderne Hostel, you are in close proximity to Sierra Star Golf course where you can improve your game or enjoy a great time alone or with friends. The 18-hole Championship golf course was designed by Cal Olsen and has a Par 70. Gentle hills are set amidst a forest-like setting for an unspoiled nature experience. Stunning views of the surrounding mountains are also part of the golf experience here. To practice, there is a chipping and putting green, as well as swing nets and a warm-up area.

For hungry travelers returning from bike and hike tours, there is the Nevados and Jalapenos restaurant, which is only 5m away on foot from the hotel. This restaurant offers topnotch American, New American and international dishes on the menu, including Angus New York Steak, seafood, and more local dishes like Crusted Elk Strip Loin. This upmarket restaurant also has an extensive wine menu with noble Italian and French drops like Chianti, Cabernet, or Sauvignon Blanc.

Guests who value a little more privacy may think about booking the hotel’s double Queen Room, but bear in mind that this room still does not have its own private bathroom. Like all other residence rooms at the Moderne Hostel, a shared bathroom is part of the hostel experience.

The shared Moderne Hostel kitchen is a warmly lit, spacious room with modern amenities and facilities. A double fridge leaves plenty of space for travelers to store their goods and a gas stove is in place. Two sinks ensure there is no fight over space when guests share the cooking slots, and a dishwasher is available for guests, too. Whether guests want to eat their meal at the big kitchen table together, in the adjoining sitting room, or outside, is up to them.
