Location was ideal, and it was in a quiet London street. It was a beautiful old Victorian terrace house which must have been loved and cared for at some point in its past. The bed sheets and towels were clean
The building was in a shockingly poor state of repair. We had a heavy case and six flights of stairs to negotiate as the lift was not working. It was advertised as having cooking facilities, but these were extremely poor - 2 manky saucepans and a tiny frying pan which were stored next to the rubbish bin. The fridge desperately needed cleaning and defrosting. The carpets and curtains were filthy. The final nail in the coffin was getting up Sunday morning to no hot water for a shower. We switched on what we thought might be the hot water and went out for 3 hours. When we got back, we had to make do with a cold shower in a very dirty shower cubicle. The floor tiles were cracked and dirty. There were no fire exit route signs, no smoke alarms. The wiring in what was euphemistically called the kitchen looked unsafe. There were no staff on duty to speak to.
Close to Hyde park
Appallingly dirty all over, from carpet to toilet. Not suitable to stay - so unhygienic. Nothing changed for years- bath, kitchen(broken), furniture all shockingly in very poor condition. Walls damp all around, smelly, painting coming off. In one word- appalling. Not suitable to stay by any means. An old fellow (hardly can walk), bless him, looking after the property- I wonder he is the owner. Was not friendly at all. I had my worst holiday in my life- in terms of accommodation.
Location , staff
A great place to stay, in such an ideal location. Bass and Roger were the perfect hosts. Thank you both.
The front desk was regularly unattended. The room was a 2br, one room seemed to be an enclosed deck with opaque plastic roof which let in light, was noisy in the rain and not insulated in any way. The carpet was covered in every room with a layer of someone’s long, dark hair. The beds were so uncomfortable that one of our group decided to try the floor instead. The foyer and staircase was smelly and the smell came into our room. The kitchen was not clean. We were miserable for two nights and decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere. Our luggage was going to be stored in a hallway, unsupervised and not locked if we chose to store it there after check out. Do not book this hotel.
