8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location in the historic quarter right alongside the canal. The traditional dinner and breakfasts.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location right in the historic Bikan district. Able to stroll around the shops and streets in the area at ease.
Cons: Difficult to locate the Roykan among the narrow streets crowded with pedestrians.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese breakfast. Very high quality and very tasty, but well you need to like it that way. ;) Great many course dinner in your own room. Enjoyed it a lot. The Onsen was great and too and the employees were very nice and courteous.
1,0 Poor
Cons: Our room had a view of the air conditioning, no garden view no view of outside. I told the staff that was a completely unacceptable room and asked for another I was told that other rooms were already given to others. Completely unacceptable. Why does this booking site tease us with beautiful garden rooms when in reality you end up with servant’s room on the third floor?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality, customer service, attention to detail, and the food were absolutely wonderful. Mostly the food! And the location is excellent.
Cons: I liked everything!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Ryori Ryokan is in a beautiful location in the old town with lots of stores and restaurants and very close to the Ohare Art Gallery, a wonderful gallery. The staff was helpful and friendly, communicating through language barriers, and the food was excellent. The baths were very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Everything was lovely.
7,0 Good
Pros: centre location, well maintained historic building,
Cons: Not real onsen. meals are a bit over priced

Cons: Quite small room and bed size.
4,0 Okay
Pros: location was a short walk from the station and right at the entrance to the old town
Cons: This is not a tourist hotel, but a very basic Japanese business hotel. very little English spoken. I stayed at dormy in Nara which was excellent and I was expecting the same level
7,0 Good
Cons: Construction around the building but no reduced rate. Noise and people working outside your window.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: room is not big but comfortable, like their pillows and quilts very much, soft and cozy, big public bathroom with onsen is the attraction to us afterall, it comes with indoor and outdoor with spacious bath area. it's super relaxing after a long day walk outside for sightseeing. hotel even provides free ramen in the evening at 9.30pm although we didn't take it. free coffee and tea are also serviced at the lobby for the day. hotel is right across the street of the main attractions of white wall and streams, as well as the 2 temples, shopping street is right by the river, along with eateries and restaurants.
Cons: the construction of exterior wall somewhat block the view and we had to close the curtain throughout the stay, there was no construction nor no noise maybe due to holiday season.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Right by the Bikan Historical Quarter. Nice, shared onsen with outdoor section. 24h Family-Mart very close. Helpful staff, easy to call a cab to.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. The twin room was larger than most business hotel rooms. Very comfy beds, sleepwear provided, the nightly noodles, the option to have the ecoplan and the staff that tried their best.
Cons: Still very little space to open luggage. The onsen was partially closed for repairs.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was interesting to stay in a conservation building although the family room we stayed in was very recently renovated. It was spacious and wandering around the hotel was interesting due to the display of artwork and historical tidbits. The layout of the family room was great and the beds were comfortable.
Cons: The enthusiasm and helpfulness of the reception staff was inconsistent. When we first arrived, a rather solemn man met us and muttered about the parking arrangement. We don’t speak Japanese and he tried in a very lacklustre fashion to communicate with us and it got on my nerves because he was just mumbling and making little eye contact. I’ve never had such insincere service in a Japanese hotel.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Ambience of the historic location. In the midst of the historic canal shops. High ceilings of rooms and the cosy wood panelling. The baths felt fresh and clean from the recent renovations. Convenient coin laundry and vending machines. Concierge was very helpful with luggage forwarding and booking of taxi.
Cons: In winter, the shops close early so prepare to head out for dinner at the mall on the other side of the railway station. Very few morning coffee joints open at 8am either. Also, if arriving in the dark or tired, better to hail a taxi to get to hotel from railway station because the cobblestone and winding streets are a pain to drag the luggage over. Short taxi ride drops one right at the reception front desk.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is excellent- from the staff , who spoke fluent English, checking you in to the immaculate room, to the spacious 3 soaking tubs public bath.
Cons: Loved this hotel the best on a two week trip!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The area of the location is great. The room could have a little bit more atmosphere
Cons: The room very little but not homey
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice setting, a beautifully restored complex in an historic part of town, so very nice for an evening stroll. A lot of facilities on site - bar and restaurant, which we didn't visit. I appreciated the bathhouse. Service was helpful and efficient. What was a really nice touch was to find an English-language newspaper outside my room on the door, provided complementary in the morning - this kind of attention to detail is really appreciated.
7,9 Good
Pros: We booked two rooms one room for 2 adults and 2 children has been remolded but another room still has the dated deco from the 90s and feel unpleasant.
Cons: Rooms but renewed
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice historical building in a great location
Cons: Room was a bit small
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Really in the heart of historical village. Lovely place.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything

2,5 Mediocre
Pros: I read the reviews of the whiners who had a hissyfit because of the location of this hotel. I was traveling by rental car so it wasn't a big issue with me. Sure, there is a shipyard next door and a refinery across the bay, but the many Chinese tourists staying at this hotel was unlikely put off by a belching smokestack. If you did not take both meals here, you missed out! The Kaiseki dinner was absolutely superb, with two maguro roe dishes and actual Beluga caviar on a sesame tofu. The dinner included a marbled beef dish with special dipping sauce, and a marvelous miso hot plate with a fresh fish fillet. A tempura platter was included and was followed by a flavored rice pot, pickled vegetables, and the 2nd soup of the meal. The dinner is worth 6400 yen at the hotel's restaurant. Breakfast was also spot on with scrupulously fresh dishes and you could even freshly squeeze carrot juice. The hotel also had a nice onsen and working sauna.
Cons: You need to keep the window closed as you are downwind of the refinery.
6,7 Good
Pros: Nice view of Seto Inland Sea, room is big, about 3 times that of the 8 tatami beds room.
Cons: The place is far away from all businesses. Actually it sits right next to a huge shipyard and there are all sorts of chemical plants near by. The closest eatery and convenient store is about 5km away.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: few minutes away from the historic area and walking distance from the JR station
Cons: nothing
7,0 Good
Pros: Even though the hotel is a bit old and tired, the location was great and rooms large by Japan standards, close to train, shopping mall and the historical Bikan Chiku area. As we were visiting family the availability of washing machine and a microwave made our lengthy stay easy. Although we didn't have the restaurant breakfast, it looked great. Staff very friendly and use a language translator device to assist in communication. Western style bathroom with shower over bath, tea making equipment and a small fridge in room too.
Cons: Beds and pillows are a bit hard.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location is perfect. Three minutes walking, then you will see Bikan-chiku (where you can see nice atmosphere and shops). 15:00-10:00 parking 1000 yen in their property is good. Breakfast was good, but not very western style (according to western people)
Cons: The road to get to the parking is very narrow. A little bit dirty ceiling in the bathroom. Bed mattress is very hard.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was very pleasant. Breakfast was really tasty :) very close from the old center (3mn by walk!) From the train station you have to walk just 20 minutes.

7,5 Good
Pros: Good
7,1 Good
Pros: We had a big triple room just for the 2 of us. Unfortunately it had been used by smokers so we had the windows open to get rid of the smell. Apart from that a good Japanese business hotel.
Cons: We asked for a non smoking room but did not seem to get one.
7,9 Good
Pros: I've stayed there a number of times and knew what to expect. It's a decent business hotel type breakfast.
7,5 Good
Pros: The motel did it's job you get what you pay for, there was nothing that was outstanding however it served it's purpose, definitely did not like the smoking floor we were originally asigned to this was rectified luckerly.
Cons: Smoking floor NOT good in this day and age especially in a motel, smoking does impact peoples health realise we were visiting but public places in all countries need to give this thought.
6,3 Good
Pros: They have free bicycle. Free breakfast.
Cons: The bathroom smelled like pee and there were Balaclava mouldy stuff in few areas. The room AC temperature was not adjustable and it was a bit hot. No face products provided (eg. Face wash).
