Pros: Andi and Yuki welcomes us the moment we arrived, and were charming and interesting hosts throughout. The house is amazing, and you keep seeing more and more, from the art work, wooden carvings, bathrooms, individual rooms, lava hot pot in the garden, coffee, tea, fruit. Close to the airport, walking distant to places to eat and shop. A superb guesthouse.

Pros: I adored my stay in 1x6. I felt so welcome and comfortable there I look forward to returning soon. I choose it initially because it was so close to the airport, but it truly would be a great base for exploring the area. Thank you Andi and Yuki for going above and beyond!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Yuki and Andi‘s house is the best stay in our trip. They were so thoughtful and warm. Everything is very clean. The location is only 15 min drive to the airport. P.S. must have their breakfast, you won’t be disappointed
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The hosts here were absolutely wonderful. They picked us up from airport for no extra charge, were very accommodating to our odd travel times, and they even left personal bathrobes, house slippers, and pool shoes for us to use. The heated pool was AMAZING and we wish we could have spent more time here. I cannot recommend the breakfast option with your stay enough. Not only is it very worth it, but the hosts' cooking abilities were fantastic. Yuki makes fresh bread, and Andi's espresso skills are on-point. Best experience we had in all of Iceland, and we did A LOT of stuff, so I feel like that's saying quite a bit.
Cons: Nothing. We couldn't recommend this guesthouse enough. Absolutely a highlight of our 9 days in Iceland.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This place feels like Iceland. Comfortable, natural and warm. Great view of the sea when having a cup of coffee with hosts. Nice little town. Best place to stay for central location if hiring a car, you can go in every direction. 30 minutes to Blue Lagoon. 45 minutes to Reykjavik. 25 minutes to the bridge. Local places cheap to eat. Easy for the airport for early am flight. Seas!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hospitality from two of the nicest, friendliest people you could meet on your travels. Staying at 1x6 isn't just a means to an end, it is a must-do experience. Of course the accommodation is sparkling clean with everything you could need and many nice personal touches from the hosts, but the true treasure of 1x6 is the hospitality from Andi and Yuki. All the best to you guys and thank you, we really hope to see you again soon for our 3rd stay in 1x6.
Cons: - That we had to leave and once again say goodbye to Andi and Yuki.

Overview Reviews
Hotel Keflavik is a first class hotel in the heart of Keflavik. Next to the international airport, providing free transportation to KEF airport. We are also situated shortly away from the Blue Lagoon. Hotel Keflavik is renowned for it's breakfast and restaurant. Hotel Keflavik offers it's guests a 7000 sqft fitness center with a solarium and sauna.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is close to the airport, but 45 minutes from Reykavik, So stay here only if you need to be close to the airport. But the hotel is clean and modern. Excellent restaurant and generous breakfasts. Also near the water, and a walking path at the water's edge. Easy street parking if you have a car.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Great location being very close to airport. Very good breakfast. Modern design and luxury settings.
Cons: Tiny bathrooms even in the deluxe suite, lack of hangers for clothes/towels.
7,9 Good
Pros: Lovely decor, comfy bed, nice breakfast
Cons: It states the rooms has sea or mountain views but they didn't.. There was a lot of noise bleed from the other rooms and outside, the sound proofing is not at all effective.
7,7 Good
Pros: Early breakfast buffet for those catching early flight out at the airport
9,6 Excellent
Pros: When we came to the hotel our Deluxe Room was perfect but the heating didn’t work and it was very cold in the room. The receptionist was so kind and gave us the Suit. And we were surprised with this room. It was great. But the main surprise was the hotel’s restaurant. It’s perfect!!! Very testy, serving food was in Michelin style. Great!
Cons: The unfinished reconstruction
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy rooms. Liked the blackout blinds. Breakfast starts really early and has a good selection. Check-in very fast and a problem we had was resolved quickly.
Cons: Just to beware, if you have a young child even the taxis need a car seat. The hotel uses taxis rather than an air shuttle however they do not book child car seats despite this being the law in Iceland. The taxi driver informed us that we might be liable for a fine if the police stopped us. I do think this is irresponsible of the hotel when it knows a young child is being transported. Please ask them to book a child seat!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location is very close to blue lagoon. Nice drives
Cons: Would like water and drinks in room
9,0 Excellent
Pros: the free bonus upgrade
Cons: it was too much...not used to luxury ...oh ...the floors....cold marvel stone....put carpets i dont like to wear shoes in the room i stay
6,7 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Excellent food in the restaurant downstairs. Really good!! Breakfast was good as well, aside from maybe not having eggs to order. I didn’t ask nor was it offered. Good variety and no complaints. No problem recommending the restaurant for dinner!!!
Cons: The room was too hot but I turned the heat off and opened the window. Then I put a fan at the opening and it cooled down. Then it started to rain in the middle of the night and it got very wet inside but at least it was cool enough to sleep.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were comfortable. Hotel has a unique design. It seems to cover luxury designs through a couple decades. Hotel staff were polite. Breakfast was eclectic but satisfying.
Cons: Water had a strong sulphur odor.
6,0 Good
Pros: ok
Cons: Bad smell infront of the room
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: breakfast
Cons: extremely cold bathroom (heating there). extremely cold room, upon entry. The entire hotel looks and feels like a cheap Las Vegas venue.
Airport Hotel Aurora Star - Keflavik - Building
7
8,5 Excellent (4 075 reviews)
R2 509+
Overview Reviews
Airport Hotel Aurora Star is the most convenient place to start your journey around the natural wonder that we call Iceland. Being one of the most functional hotel you could find on the Reykjanes peninsula. Our hotel is only 100 meters from the Keflavik International Airport (KEF), making it an easy 3-minute walk to and from the airport eliminating all cost and hassle that comes with airport transportation, this combined with the restaurant and bar makes any trip outside the hotel unnecessary. Aurora Star is the only hotel or guesthouse close enough to the airport that you can travel to by foot. The hotel offers 72 rooms, single, double, triple and family rooms. Each room has a private bathroom, a seating area while also being very spacious with much room to make your trip home or journey as comfortable as possible. The rooms also include free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: This is a nice hotel located 2 minutes from the airport. It is very convenient when taking a late or early flight. Beds were comfortable and place was very clean. Front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. There was an elevator for heavy suitcases (yes!), first hotel to have it since arriving in Iceland and staying in 7 different hotels. I was very happy with this hotel.
Cons: Only thing missing was tea/coffee and kettle in room, this would have been a nice touch.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was close to the airport terminal which was great at 3AM. I will stay at this hotel again.
Cons: I called GetA Room 3 times before I received an answer to my question. The answer came two days after my hotel stay, TOO LATE!!! I will never use this service again.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel if you travel early in the morning from Keflavik airport. Helpful staff & comfortable rooms for overnight stay. Next to the most rent-a-car drop-off locations at the airport and 5 min walk to the terminal. Very early breakfast, so cannot miss it ;-)
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious. Breakfast was good. Location was good. Staff were polite. Beds were big and comfortable.
Cons: Rooms are not soundproof, there were lots of noise heard from the corridor. No minibar/fridge in the room although room is very big.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, clean hotel, good breakfast, great staff
Cons: Bed was poor for US standards, but ok for Europe standards. Lacking extra pillows, comforters.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfy bed and great shower, super-helpful staff, basic-but-decent food on-site, exceptionally convenient for an early-morning flight.
Cons: Basic furnishings, only moderately comfy common area. Breakfast was warm and the ingredients were good, but not many choices (same at dinner).
7,9 Good
Pros: Confortable beds and everything clean.
Cons: After i took a shower, it was water everywhere. I don't think it wouldn't be that expensive to fix this problem, with the prices that you pratice.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast and extremely comfortable large twin beds. Very convenient for the airport terminal. Walking distance to the terminal.
Cons: Clearer signs in the airport to the path for the hotel
9,3 Excellent
Pros: I stayed overnight on a connection, which was not my planned route so I was in a terrible mood about the whole thing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved that it was right by the Keflavik terminal (they say five minutes but I walked there with all my bags in two and a half). I love hard floors in hotel rooms because it just seems so much more hygienic-- you can see how clean (or unclean!) the floors are and my room was immaculate when I arrived. The bathroom is very basic and the beds (I had two singles in my room) don't look like much but... THE BEDS AND BEDDING ARE PHENOMENAL. I slept so soundly and so comfortably I almost didn't want to leave. The comforters were just the right weight, the pillows were perfect. Seriously. After bed, I packed up and got ready, then crawled back in bed until right before checkout. The included breakfast goes until ten o'clock and had a lot of variety and was very filling. Checkout is at noon but they don't seem to mind you hanging out in their lobby for a few hours after. I didn't have a need for a car, but it's also by all of the car rental places-- I would suggest this hotel if your plan is to see a lot of things outside of Reykjavik while you're staying over (parking was also free I believe).
Cons: The wifi wasn't very cooperative and I had trouble connecting multiple times (they're individual routers rather than an integrated system your device roams on) but it eventually worked and was fast enough. I would agree with other posters that when you come in on a flight at midnight, it's confusing to figure out where it exactly is in relation to the exit-- a sign in the airport would be nice, but people are friendly enough if you ask.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: Good value for the amount I paid. Location was within walking distance of the airport and rental car return.
Cons: No complaints.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: I showed up at midnight with my infant daughter. They helped take my bags to my room. They offered up a cot for her and immediately made it up with a nice clean sheet and baby duvet. There was a highchair in the dining area for her as well.
Cons: If I could have taken the pushchair from the airport to the hotel that would have been super helpful. I didn't ask though. Maybe you can?
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Location: 5 to 10 minute walk from Keflavik airport. Excellent Staff: I flew overnight and didn't account for the date change. Staff was very accommodating, changing my dates and even letting me check in early. Before we realized the error, they were happy to hold my luggage. Food: The breakfast buffet was just ok, but I enjoyed the chicken stir-fry at dinner. A seamless experience to land in the morning, store luggage, go touring for a day, then check an early flight out the next day.
Cons: Getting there: there is no side walk, so you must take a detour around the parking lot or walk more directly on the grass. This was more my/ reykjavik excursions fault: I asked the ticket woman from flybuss about the bus into the city, and she said every 10 minutes, I ended up taking my time at the hotel and missed the flybus. The next one would go 2 hrs later, missing my tour. I had to take a taxi. If you do drop things at the hotel, you should go back to the airport quickly as the last bus to the city tends to leave within 40 minutes of landing.

Pros: Receptionist was endearing and very helpful.Bar was homely.
Cons: We arrived to the restaurant exactly 2mins after 9:30 (restaurant closing time) on a saturday night, and we were not served dinner despite the fact that at least 3 other tables were still having their starters (and the fact that the hostess herself told us that no other place would be available for dinner in Keflavyk). This is not the experience I would expect from such a hotel.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Quite near to the airport, it's an ideal place to stay for the last night before the flight back home. We got the hotel shuttle to drop us off upon departure, which was nice as we had considerable amounts of luggage.
Cons: The breakfast consists of a fridge stocked with some items (like milk and butter) and packages of toast bread on the counter, so guests have to prepare everything for themselves.
5,7 Okay
Pros: Decent breakfast and one-way airport ride were helpful.
Cons: Extremely small private room and very loud with others staying nearby and in common area. No staff onsite when attempting to check in either and no note. Had to wait an hour for someone to give the key to my room. Fairly expensive for what is provided, even for Iceland.

Pros: Proximity to Keflavik airport. The hotel is located in a quiet area and the staff are very helpful. Hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The room was reasonably spacious, very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The buffet breakfast had the standard food, but it was not tasty.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location close to airport. Helpful staff.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The location is super close to the airport, therefore convenient if you are flying the next morning. Good thing that the stuff was flexible to serve us cold breakfast earlier than scheduled, as we had to catch an early flight.
Cons: NO LIFTS! First time that I am in a hotel It was a first for me to stay in a hotel with no lifts. We had to carry all our suitcases up the stairs. Rooms are also lacking bedside tables, we had to leave our glasses, phones etc far from the bed.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is close to the airport. I was able to play tourist in the morning before flying out in the afternoon.
7,4 Good
Pros: The staff were brilliant and great with our teenagers !
Cons: Hotel close to airport but slightly isolated from everything els , no restaurant .
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, not many other guests. Hot tub + sauna are nice, especially without other guests around.
Cons: Views from room where average, nothing special. No hot breakfast (besides toast).
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice house in a very calm environnement. Beautiful vista and good location near the touristic areas. A hot tub was available for us to relax after a day of hiking in the neighbourhood. I recommend it !
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Happy hour with half price beer and wine.
Cons: No tea and coffee available in room but only in breakfast room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice, very close to sadcars
10,0 Excellent
Cons: No free shuttle to/from airport...adds to cost of stay due to taxi fares.
6,8 Good
Pros: The hotel cost is very reasonable given the facilities. Room was clean and large enough, bed comfortable, and the room had useful amenities such as desk, comfortable chair, toilet and shower. I took advantage of the sauna and jacuzzi, which were nice but nothing exceptional. They also have fairly nice exercise equipment. However, it really is located in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to do in the immediate facility (except go for a walk, but not what I consider a scenic view). it seemed quite costly to take a taxi between the airport and hotel. Cost of the two taxi rides was about the same as the price of the hotel. Cheaper than staying at Hotel Smari at the KEF airport, but I was surprised by the transportation costs.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location to blue lagoon and KEF airport were great. was clean, friendly staff, breakfast was descent.
Cons: The noise in the hotel carried - and wasn't good for a light sleeper to get a good night sleep.

Pros: Bad hospitality by the staff at the reception. I requested and extra pillow and an extra blanket, but they refused. They said they don’t have any spare pillow or blanket. There was a bath tub in the bathroom but couldn’t use it as the stopper was missing. And when I asked the reception, they said they don’t have stopper and the tub is only for shower. I was really disappointed by the facilities. Would not want to go there again

Pros: Breakfast was good but not sure worth 12 euros. Nice to be near the airport.
Cons: Directions and map were not so clear if you don't have GPS. The map did not show that you turn for Asbru, and none of the street names on the map were listed at the roundabout.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Bedroom big and clean. Bathroom not clean and very old.
Cons: The hotel is too expensive for its service and quality. The girls at the reception where unfriendly and didn't want to help us!! Unfortunately they don't offer a transfer from the airport to the hotel if you are not an arrival guest (if you for example give back the car at the airport you cannot use their transfer but need to take a taxi), what for us is a real cheek, especially for the high room prices!!!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were very helpful and it’s good value for money
Cons: The location is a little grim and there no restaurant other than a fast food place next door
6,7 Good
Pros: The room was really big and the bed was comfortable The staff at the reception was really friendly and helpful
Cons: The bathroom was too small and not well arranged. The walls are also a bit too thin. Hou can hear the neighbours in the corridor or in the nect room.

Pros: The room was clean, the food was simple and tasty and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Pros: It was close to the airport and we had a private bathroom.
Cons: For US standards it was a little pricey.

Cons: It is an old military dorm. They attempted to redo it, but it still had a dorm room feeling. There is nothing to do in that area. It is only benefit is it is close to airport. I regret stilling here more than one night. Our ceiling in restroom leaked.

Pros: Big rooms next to the airport with good breakfast.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Large, comfortable room in a quiet area of town. Only 10 minutes to the airport. Pleasant lobby and bar area for a drink.
Cons: Was a little bit noisy with other guests, but that is typical of any airport hotel. It wouldn't put me off staying again.

Cons: Due to a mixup our reservations were never entered into the logbook and when we arrived there were no rooms available. They did however find a different guesthouse for us.

Pros: Upgrade to Hotel Keflavik across the street. Wonderful staff, excellent breakfast.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Got upgraded to the hotel for free. Comfy beds. Great view of the harbor and mountains. Great lighting, and nice water pressure. The illuminated marble hallways and restraunt area looked very swanky.
Cons: The wind blew through bathroom vent loudly all night long. Their was some unfinished paint in room, near the curtains. You had to pull on the door really hard to close it. The lobby was under construction.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We actually stayed in the Hotel across the road. The staff were very friendly & helpful, we were able to get an early check-in time. There was some renovations in the foyer area, it didn't really impact our stay. The room was lovely, very comfortable beds & enough room for the 3 of us. A good selection of food for the continental breakfast. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant one evening. There is a shuttle bus to the airport on the day you leave.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I can’t really tell- the guesthouse was under construction and we were offered a room in Keflavic hotel which was indeed a very good deal. The reception was very nice. But the breakfast, room, other services were all from the hotel not the guesthouse, so can’t say.

Pros: Good location, very near the airport
Cons: The clerk spoke bad English and gave us a breakfast time card which said it was at 5am and she crossed out and put it at 7am we arrived at the hotel reception to check in out at 5:15 pm was when we realized that after all breakfast was even at 5:00 am, besides being an airport hotel is for people to rest and we could not sleep at all because the hotel has bad insulation and All night there were cars driving on the street and the noise of a disco in front. The bathroom in the room had only one light in the mirror which did not allow large light for the shower.

Pros: Being close to the airport.
Cons: In the photos the room looks more cozy than they are and need some maintenance and more light. Breakfast is really very basic.

Cons: We asked for rooms next to each other when we booked in March but the hotel was not able to accommodate! When you book over 6 months in advance that is not very good. One room overlooked the road/pub which was extremely noisy until 4am.

Pros: The hosts were wonderful. They picked us up at the airport late at night and took us directly to the hotel, where they showed us to a lovely, clean room that was tastefully decorated. Our window faced the ocean for a fabulous view, and the owners were incredibly helpful and kind. They made arrangements for us to visit the Blue Lagoon on our way to the airport the following day and made everything very easy for us. The included breakfast was well stocked with fresh food. We would definitely stay there again!

Pros: Breakfast was OK. Typical for Iceland. Hotel in good location to explore area. Staff helpful. View was OK, not great, looked over water.

Hotel Berg is a newly renovated four-star boutique hotel on two floors located above a small marina in Keflavík, where most travellers begin and end their journey in Iceland due to its short distance to the international airport. Hotel Berg is only a 5-minute drive to the airport, yet has quiet surroundings, as it is well away from the noises of the airport.
