Pros: Easily accessible by bus and train, a great base for exploring local area. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable and the lovely host carried our bags up the stairs for us.
Cons: Lots of stairs - Note: No lift
Pros: Quiet room Location is between attractions For Caen I prefer near train station Im room safe
Cons: Hotel is not bad,but nothing special Room small ,no minibar Narrow space between safe and bed, hard to use A bit expensive for what offers
Pros: . Great hosts and looked after my bike with no issues..
Cons: The ONLY complaint was the inability to make tea or coffee after 10pm or before 7am .. had expected tea / coffee making facilities in the room .. hadn’t read the specifications in great detail but was my expectation so no real criticism.. made up for in any case by the hosts accomodating attitude
Pros: Excellent continental breakfast , with juices & coffee/tea 'on-tap'. Centrally located with easy walking distance to bars/cafes/shops & public car parking.
Cons: All good, difficult to suggest improvements !
Pros: The location was excellent and we were fortunate to find a parking place outside the door. Other parking is not far away. The proprietor was friendly and, with one exception, efficient. The room was modern, bright and well equipped. There was a good breakfast and complimentary tea and coffee was provided during the day.
Cons: The proprietor suggested an excellent local restaurant, offered to book a table there for us but then forgot to do so! The restaurant kindly sorted the problem by fitting us in later in the evening. The moral is to follow his suggestions but make your own bookings.
Pros: The owner made you feel very welcome and he was always on hand to answer questions. He couldn’t have made us feel more at home.
Cons: Central location comfortable beds although rooms are compact.

Pros: I always know it will meet my expectations. I like having parking right there and there were several choices of restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Great location
Pros: Modern, minimalistic and urban in the otherwise romantic Caen.
Pros: Great location modern feel
Pros: Close to train station and restaurants/shopping mall within walking distance. If you are just looking for a place to sleep with no extra fancy amenities then this hotel is fine.
Cons: No parking at hotel so you need to use the public underground parking garage. Parking is validated from 6pm to 9am. No restaurant on site. Breakfast is limited. Cereal, fruit, pastries, cheese, etc but no full breakfast choice. First room I checked into had broken AC. Initial reply from front desk was to open the window. Asked to transfer to a new room.
Pros: Very comfortable bed and pillows and no cloying spray on the carpet made for a very good sleep. The location beside the SNCF Gare was a bonus.
Pros: Clean room, helpful staff provided very clear parking instruction, great location. Great breakfast.

Pros: Extremely helpful staff and a very comfortable stay
Pros: Staff were friendly and outstandingly helpful. They booked us a taxi based in Ouistreham, who was also excellent. Firm, comfortable - and enormous - bed.
Cons: There was nothing we disliked. Full breakfast was a little expensive at 16 Euro we thought, so we went for the Express breakfast at 8 Euro which was fine. BBC News on the TV would have been ideal, but CNN was good to have.
Pros: The friendliness of the staff and their efficiency. We felt the room was of a high standard; tastefully decorated and well cared for. The location of the Hotel; and the secure parking made our stay exceptional.
Cons: No toaster available at breakfast.
Pros: Friendly personnel, clean rooms, central position. Excellent place for a stay in Caen

Pros: Beautiful building set in lovely grounds. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Our room did not have a hook for the shower on the wall high enough to stand under so unless you wanted a bath it was difficult
Pros: Lovely chateau with charming rooms.
Pros: The hotel is located in a beautiful park and surrounded by all sorts of gardens. Superb in every way; a guest is treated as a real king or queen.
Cons: The price of the breakfast and drinks is rather high. In case of "eating out", you have to go by car, since there are no other restaurants close by.
Pros: Beautiful building and location
Cons: Small room, average food and not enough trained staff.
Pros: This is a most remarkable property, so very glad circumstances allowed us to find it. The staff is exceptional in every way; our warmest thanks to Tatiana, Fabien and Giles (the best). We will return one day...
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Pros: good location
Cons: A little expensive for a fairly basic hotel
Pros: Excellent staff. Nothing too much trouble.

With a stay at Hotel La Consigne, you'll be centrally located in Caen, within a 15-minute drive of Festyland and Caen Memorial. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: The place is in an excellent location. Would stay here again
Pros: Right across from the train station! Right next to the car rental Perfect jumping off point after a long travel day and a goodnight sleep followed by traditional French breakfast!
Cons: Nothing only that we couldn’t stay another night
Pros: Did not have time to have breakfast. Had to take taxi to make early ferry.
Cons: For the location and neighborhood it was acceptable. A Nice place - not especially but adequate for our purposes.
Pros: Location. Immediately outside train station.
Pros: Excellent location, friendly welcoming staff. Newly renovated and spotlessly clean
Pros: Near the train station, very practical
Cons: A little bit problem with the internet
Cons: The location was directly across from the train station and at night we often returned quite late and the convenience store next door attracted small groups of men just lingering around and it was a bit disturbing for us.
Pros: Proximity to station and car rentals
Cons: WiFi worked erratically and mostly not at all in iPhone
Pros: Friendliness and location so close to train and Metro stations.
The Aparthotel Adagio Caen Centre is located in the heart of the city. Its 120 fully-equipped apartments, ranging from studios to two-room apartments for 4 people, are entirely new and perfectly suited for a long business stay or getaway in Normandy. On the premises, you will find a fitness room, breakfast service and outdoor parking. It has a friendly living room with a shared kitchen, mini-market corner, fussball table and co-working space with free internet
Pros: Modern and comfortable.
Cons: Additional cost for parking; Expensive breakfast cost.
Pros: Staff,. Cleanliness, very good for local people who want to hit bar.
Cons: This is not a 4star property. Room size is small. And sofa bed and double bed wasn't comfortable. The bin is very small for an apartment.
Pros: We ave stayed in Caen three previous times. Every tine, we booked someplace closer to William the conqueror’s Castel. The Adagio is only a block from the tram which took us everywhere we wanted to go. The apartments are well equipped. We cooked dinner in one night and fixed breakfast in our apartment every morning. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Pros: Staff were extra helpful and friendly Good breakfast Great facilities
Cons: Smell in the bathroom
Pros: good selection clean & tidy presentation
Cons: unable to obtain "proper"english tea & milk to enable a cup of tea to be made early morning. Not everyone likes Earl Grey and/or herbal teas they are just fancy brands. Neither the hand or bath towels were changed during our 3day stay.
Pros: Close center, Adagio mostly always nice, confort, space
Cons: girl receiving me was only busy looking at her computer, made me feel akward and uncomfortable. No real connextion
Pros: Good location, close to the train station and a short walk for the city center. Nice room, more than enough for our one night stay before heading off to our road trip around Normandy.
Cons: The bed was not the most comfortable I've ever seen, but nothing that kept me from having a good night of sleep.
The 4-star Novotel de Caen Côte de Nacre hotel is located close to Caen city center and the Mémorial, between Paris and Mont-Saint-Michel. The hotel has 126 rooms, a restaurant, bar and garden with heated swimming pool, as well as 6 meeting rooms. The hotel is located 10 minutes from the train station and the airport and 15 minutes from the beach. The hotel is perfect both for business trips and for a weekend in Normandy as a couple or family. The hotel offers high-speed WIFI and a free car park.
Pros: Reception. Decent room. Typical Novotel.
Cons: Pricey breakfast but decent food.
Pros: Reception staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Pool was very well needed after a hot day at Juno Beach. The restaurant food was lovely and the buffet breakfast was amazing - and the kids ate FREE! Thank you
Pros: Room very comfortable and roomy Bed especially comfortable
Cons: Restaurant was not great. Weren’t told until after we’d ordered that there were other food choices available. Food we got was ok but very expensive ( my wife had a small bowl of pesto flavoured pasta for approx £13!) Have stayed in other Novotel where there were self service buffet options, much better.
Cons: The staff were friendly and very helpful and spoke good English , but there simply were not enough of them. Example both evenings there were two bus loads of people - at least 80 people - staying to see the WWII battlefields plus perhaps 30 other guests. There were only two waiters for the bus parties and one poor chap who was waiting on the other guests and also manning the bar (for all 100+ guests). Also on reception, only one person - very helpful but there were a lot of people waiting with queries. Too much cost cutting.
Pros: The bed was very comfy, the bathroom very well equipped.
Cons: There could have been more vegetarian options on the menu. I exhausted all I could eat on the menu on my stay and was lucky to be invited by a friend as I would have had to eat the same dish again. The vegetarian option is also not very exciting.
Pros: The staff were particularly helpful in assisting with my little grandson’s needs. He has allergies and therefore there is a need for extreme vigilance. Owing to a car breakdown on their return journey I booked another room for them and the breakdown necessitated a further night’s stay. Throughout this time the staff immediately recognised my family and stepped forward to assist again - making a traumatic time less stressful. Many thanks to all - especially Sarah !
Pros: breakfast was excellent
Cons: Expensive, and the breakfast even more so.
Pros: Everything. Good position, good price, excellent owner
Cons: Having to shower over an uncurtained bath
Pros: The lady ! The owner she does everything! She is happy when your happy- very nice - like many European hotels small and quaint well worth it!
Cons: No complaints--- always a few stairs- lots of pubs near by- can get a little noisy - but it is fun!
Pros: Very clean, really friendly, nice and tasty breakfast at good price, public parking directly in front of the hotel
Cons: Somewhat old
Pros: Thé friendliness and cleanliness.
Pros: Staff was warm and welcoming. Facilities were ok. Location was great. Very small showers/bathroom.
Cons: Very small shower.
Pros: Value for money , good location just beside the station .
Cons: Small room
With a stay at Hotel Zenith Caen in Caen (Saint-Ouen), you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Caen Exhibition Centre and Zenith de Caen. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: nous avons apprécié l'accueil du personnel, prêts à nous renseigner et accéder à nos demandes
Pros: Place was spotless, in a nice area, beds were very comfortable, rooms were nice
Cons: No tea and coffee facilities in room, no air conditioning,
Pros: Currently being refurbished but didn't affect my stay. Great welcome, nice room, clean and quiet, the Pizza Bus across the street does great pizzas. Breakfast was good and location was prime for my meeting.
Pros: It was very close to the Zenith so we could easily and quickly walk to a concert.
Cons: The limited dining times - from 7pm in the evening so no chance of a hot drink or dining earlier. The lack of hotel staff at the desk in the early morning. The desk area was still all locked up at 6.45am so no-one was available to help with problems. The lack of availability of water or other drinks (tea & coffee).
Pros: Excellent value for money and location for visiting Caen, beaches and port. Ample free parking, which was great as we'd driven up from Spain. City centre was only a short simple drive away or a 20 min walk.
Pros: A good basic hotel, with friendly staff.
Cons: Room a bit cold for end of October.
Pros: Stayed one night to catch the ferry and evening meal was good. As the ferry was early unable to have breakfast.
Cons: Decided to stay two nights on return the following week, when I booked the two nights I was assured it would be the same reduced rate, foolishly I didn't get it in writing. I was put into a room that the TV didn't work and no soap dispite repeated requests. Not a good experiance!!
Pros: Good restaurant in hotel altho limited menu. Liked being able to have 2 interconnecting rooms for family. Staff all spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Convenient for ferry from Caen
Cons: Bit out of the way-a good 20 mind walk to town centre but near to Expo-Parc. Staff rather harrassed serving in restaurant and attending to reception but pleasant and helpful all the same.
Pros: Inexpensive. Good front staff. Service in restaurant was excellent , allowed us to make our concert easily.Food was good value, filling rather than gourmet but well cooked and presented. Wifi easy to access.
Cons: No exhaust fans in bathroom
Pros: the hotel was east to locate and had its own parling, yje rooms were reasonably comfortable and the family room consisted of 2 adjoining rooms. most of the front staff spoke english
Cons: service for the evening meel was very poor, the staff consisted of a young trainee waitress and the very overworked experienced waitress who was also the barmaid and receptionist. it took over 2 hours to gey a simple 3 course meal ( 2 courses were from buffets) after a number of complaints. our set off time meant leaving the hotel at 6.30 am and had to guess where to leave keys as no night porter.the bathrooms were tattty
Centrally located in Caen, Hôtel Saint Etienne is within a 15-minute walk of University of Caen Normandy and Caen Castle.
Pros: This hotel made us feel very at home and the bed was probably the best I have experienced in a hotel. The staff were very friendly and were always available for local information. It’s quite small one of the oldest buildings in Caen-built in 1680 - and was a little quirky as a result. Ideal for anyone not looking for a super modern luxurious hotel. I would certainly stay there again.
Cons: Just a little more space for breakfast.
Pros: Location ok. Breakfast satisfactory
Cons: It was a pity that in my room I had no kettle, milk and mug. This would be a warm welcome for a customer.
Pros: All of it except the bathroom was very dusty around skirting boards and toilet
Cons: Just the entrance was fairly cluttered and dusty
Pros: Good breakfast at a communal table which led to some interesting conversations with fellow guests.(so much for trying to avoid Brexit whilst away) Superb location in a city which had much more interesting architecture than I had been led to believe. The hotel itself is in a charming old building in an interesting neighbourhood.
Cons: Somewhat noisy but this was unavoidable given the excellent location
Pros: Nice location. Close to bus stops and walking distance to the castle and other main tourist attractions. It is also close to downtown and university. Easy to find halal foods and souvenir shops. The staff cannot speak English fluently, but since they are frendly and tried hard to help, we really appreciate them.
Cons: - No lift. If you carry a heavy suitcase it might be an issue. - The room is small.
Cons: In the hall way was a urin smell. Same in our room but not as strong. The bed sheet was dirty. Generally the room was ok . Bathroom a disaster. The room between toilet and sink to small. The towel holder next to the toilet brush so that every time by removing the towel could be avoided to wipe over the toilet brush. Despite paid room cash ,the hotel debited the money from card. Contacted several times the reception and after 12 days the amount wasnt refunded to the account. It's not understandable how this hotel is having a rating over 8.there are major issues with service and especially cleanliness
Pros: Love this hotel. The staff are friendly and patient. The rooms have character and are comfortable. The breakfast spread is excellent and in a nice cosy setting. And of course the location is ideal for exploring the centre. All in all, a lovely hotel.
Pros: I loved the charm of Hotel Etienne - how the owner was able to incorporate the old with the new. The staircases refurbished their natural wood, and special features in the room lent to its appeal. ( built in the wall linen closet, etc.) Ayman, the college student who worked the desk, among other roles was wonderful! He was helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Pros: A super base for visiting Caen - just a short walk from restaurants, bars and the castle. And only 25 minutes from the ferry.
Pros: Great location, decent breakfast, staff very welcoming. Room was good for French standards, very functional with daybed/couch and ample of space on the desk to work at. Shower room was clean and functional.
Cons: The walls are thin, so you hear your neighbour changing channels on his TV. Being at a great location means it is busy out, Singing students at night, ambulances, etc, are audible in the room. Which could be something to consider if you are a light sleeper.
Pros: The location suited our needs perfectly. Every thing else was ordinarily satisfactory
Cons: Communication was difficult for my wife and me. We have no French, and the owners here were less skillful in English than thoes in the more tourist oriented places we visited Nevertheless, we would make reservations here again.
Cons: No parking.indifferent staff, extremely small rooms, no lift, we had to lose money and go elswere.
Pros: Room was fine, staff lovely. Bed comfy. Location is good as right in the city centre. Able to park for free right outside - so long as there is a space.
Cons: The ensuite wall ends short of the ceiling, hence you can hear and be heard - awful !
Pros: Location is convenient if you travel by car. The rest is just ok for one night stay.
Cons: Room had no hair drier. You have to ask for it separately.

Like a crossroads to the whole of Normandy, the city of Caen sits only twenty minutes from the sea and is full of surprises, from its historical buildings to its fashionable districts.
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful. I stayed in the hotel during the french strike, the front desk help me arrange transportation to Bayeux immediately as I joined a private tour. The location is convenience, it’s near the train station and bus station. Just need 15 minutes walk to the city centre. The price is reasonable and valuable.
Cons: The room central heating isn’t warm enough.
Pros: The personal speak perfectly English that makes everything easier in a town where you don't no nothing.
Cons: Breakfast was little bit pour.
Pros: The staff very friendly and helpful.
Pros: Location was very close to the train station, restaurants and shopping area. We walked a couple minutes to dinner. The staff was very nice and helpful. The bar area was perfect. The night receptionist was lovely, funny and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good. Had cereal, breads, eggs, yogurts, coffee, juices, fruits. Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay. The area is clean and safe. I liked that our car was in a locked parking gated area. The room was clean and comfy. Had everything we needed except there was no refrigerator which would be nice to keep our drinks cool. Lovely place I would recommend and book here again.
Pros: I felt very much at home. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I
Cons: I liked it all.
Pros: Located very close to the train station within easy walking distance
Cons: Everything was OK

Pros: Friendly staff Clean rooms
Pros: We had a very comfortable room and enjoyed the little touches - chocolates and a lovely recipe to try ourselves. The location is great for access to Caen either walking or the bus stops very close.
Cons: The staff were extremely unhelpful and therefore we did not get to eat in the restaurant or even enjoy a drink at the bar. We ordered room service and this too was very disappointing in lack of choice, tasteless food and no milk. When I called reception, no answer. On leaving to settle our bill I was not even asked how was my stay. Very disappointing.
Pros: The room was perfect, the attention in the front desck also Perfect. The little shop in the lobby has very good french products.

Cons: The bedroom was very dark. It needed better lighting.

Pros: I always stay here in Caen - has everything I need!
Pros: It was very clean, the room was suitable for 1 night stay, the area and the hotel was very quiet. The staff was kind and helpful with us. We had everything what we needed in a close location to catch the irish ferry in time. The breakfest was rich and tasty.
Cons: The city centre can be reached in 5 min by car or you have to walk 30 min. They prepeared tea and coffee for the morning, but with 1 dl glasses made of plastic. Not suitable to drink tea or coffee made of hot water in the morning. We would need at least normal mugs.
Pros: This is a comfortable hotel which we have used on several occasions as a stop-over for the cross channel ferry. It is clean, comfortable and well priced. Breakfast is buffet style and offers a choice of items. Again well priced.
Cons: Hotel Carline is near the regional hospital centre but can be difficult to find. Fine once you know where you are going but can be difficult to locate particularly in the dark,
Pros: Good value, clean room, comfy bed abd great shower.
Cons: No issues you get what you pay for.
Pros: Breakfast.... Good. This was a cold buffet, in an attractive dining room. The staff were unobtrusive. Most other guests were 'business types', quietly engrossed in their smartphones - except for one 'exotic' couple who were deeply engrossed in each other.
Cons: The shower cubicle was clearly intended for hobbits, leprechauns and other 'wee folk'. We found it impossible to turn round without forcing the shower tap-handle to 'blistering hot' or 'freezing cold'. The rest of the bedroom facility was just fine.
Pros: Very clean. Spacious. Middle of town. Free parking nearby.
Pros: Excellence all round, friendly, helpful and polite staff, bar and bistro very good, variety of choice on bistro menu for evening meal which was of excellent quality. The fact that pets are permitted in the rooms was a plus, enabling us to bring our dog on the journey. Good location as an overnight stop en route to the ferry port leaving a short drive to catch the early morning sailing

Cons: Run down on the outside and along the corridors to rooms. The pictures on the website are only in the reception areas!
Pros: Ideal location if you are driving. Only a 10 minutes walk to Caen city centre. Plenty parking in the nearby streets. The room was small but the bed comfortable, friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Some noise from the pipes in the en-suite. The hotel doesn't provide private parking, but there are on-street parking spaces, free until 9/9:30 a.m. After 9 you have to pay a fee.
Pros: Staff very attentive & responsive to reservation process & confirmation.
Cons: Nothing. Very nicely done.
Pros: The bed is confortable
Cons: The hotel is located close to kebab and nightclub. The room was not ready at arrival. The bathroom and shower are super small.
Pros: Fantastically friendly helpful people.
Cons: Not much. The outside looks dated BUT. It’s well located and very clean inside. Excellent value for money with a good breakfast choice. Happy to stay here again.
Pros: Comfortable room. Good breckfast.
Cons: Lots of noise from the bars across the street, but with the windows closed there was no noise.
Pros: Excellent hotel about 10 minutes walk from station. Friendly staff, good breakfast, all good facilities as expected. Would use again.
Cons: I had booked a "small single room", the room was actually a fair size, just the bathroom was very small. Not a problem at all (I can still move sideways) and the shower was, somehow, a decent size.

Cons: Wifi was unavailable
Pros: Happy with all aspects
Pros: The staff was main highlight of this property. Very friendly, super helpful. The property has some upgraded rooms.

Pros: Friendly receptionist
Cons: No coffee or tea in the room bar prices considered ecpensive
Pros: Excellent staff, incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was cooked to perfection, superb chef!
Pros: Even here before, always friendly helpful clean and great breakfast.
Cons: See above
Pros: The staff was great! Very helpful and eager to assist with whatever questions I had. Service at dinner was also great. Pizza was good. My room had everything I needed and there was plenty of parking on site.
Cons: The bathroom wasn't super clean. There were some hairs on the wall. It also felt like my mattress could use replacing. There was a major dip on one side (felt a bit like sleeping on a pullout couch). I also kept getting kicked off of the wifi (they did state that Macs tend to have some trouble with the connection, so maybe that's just on me).
