Upon drop off, some people were at the parking lot. It was very quick to leave the car at the parking lot. But was a bit confusing if I need to go to the office to confirm dropping off. Also still did not receive a final receipt and the deposit wasn't returned yet. Also it seems that I missed the information about the insurance somewhere on the web site. As a first time user, it would be great to clarify this and mention the specific price more visually and clearly so that I can understand the final price and make sure that I have enough money on the card.Reviewed Apr 10 2024

The guy who collected our keys at drop off didn’t have “Hertz” visible (open lapel was covering it), which made my wife uneasy, as he was just standing there clearly looking at us get our things out of the car. Then he came closer and spoke to us. Just a minor miscommunication we laughed about.Reviewed Nov 14 2023

While pick-up Sunday, Oct.1 at 9am was easy and fast, after-hours drop-off the same day at 8:30 was less satisfying. Instructions told me to put the key and rental agreement into an envelop and drop them in the lock-box. There were no envelopes. Now, two days after the return, I have still to receive confirmation that the car was received and the rental completed successfully. Hopefully all went well, but I have no way of knowing. I tried calling Hertz yesterday to find out, but no one answers the phone and one is referred only to the online reservations site. I'd call this "customer no-service".Reviewed Oct 3 2023

Top tips for hiring a car from Hertz in Toronto

  • One of the best reasons to choose to book Hertz car rentals in Toronto is that this company offers a huge selection of different vehicle types that makes it easy to find the perfect vehicle for your trip. When travelling to Toronto on business and looking to save some money, an economy model is often a great choice, whereas larger groups such as families on a vacation may choose something like a full-size model or an SUV to get everybody to destinations comfortably.
  • Something that drivers love about making the choice to book Hertz car rentals in Toronto is finding out that driving in this large city is relatively easy because the city offers a number of highways to get you to destinations quickly. Both Highways 401 and 407 move from east to west through the city and intersect with Highways 400 and 404 that move from north to south. That makes it quite easy to get to destinations in the center of Toronto quickly and also travel to neighboring communities such as Mississauga, Brampton, and Richmond Hill.
  • Something to keep in mind after you book Hertz car rentals in Toronto is that driving can be somewhat difficult during the wintertime when snow and ice can be quite common on roadways. The city does a great job of sanding roads to try to improve traction, but rental car companies like Hertz do not rent tire chains, so this can make driving difficult. If you do plan on renting a car from Hertz during the winter time, a good suggestion is to get a four-wheel-drive vehicle to improve traction on slick roads.
  • One thing that many rental car customers don't know about Hertz is that they allow drivers the option to rent electric vehicles. For drivers that have never tried driving an electric vehicle, you will soon be amazed at how quiet the ride is, and these types of vehicles are often perfect for shorter trips to a city like Toronto, where drivers just need to get from place to place quickly without going too far.
  • Intermediate car hire from Hertz in Toronto are around 2% cheaper than other car types, on average.

FAQs about hiring a car from Hertz in Toronto

  • What is the best place to pick up my Hertz car rental in Toronto?

If you are flying into either Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), you will find that each of these airport locations offers large rental facilities offering a great choice of vehicles. If, however, you are already in Toronto and you decide you want to rent a car, a better option than going back to the airport is to head to one of the central locations, either on Bloor St. East or Bay St., where you can still choose from a huge selection of vehicle types in a much more convenient way.

  • What are some of the benefits of renting a car with Hertz in Toronto?

One reason that so many travellers choose to use a large company like Hertz is that they have such a large presence in a big city like Toronto. What this means for travellers is that if there's any problem with a vehicle, there is generally always going to be a Hertz location close by that can solve your problems, including easily swapping out the problem car for a new rental. This company also offers a great awards program called Gold Plus Rewards that lets members skip customer service lines and earn points towards discounts on future rentals.

  • Where is the best place to park my Hertz rental car in Toronto?

Most travellers concerned about parking in a city like Toronto have no worries about parking when they are on the outskirts of town in more suburban areas, as there is generally plenty of parking in these spots. Even though parking can be more challenging in the downtown area and will often cost money, one way to mitigate some of the problems with parking would be to get one of the temporary permits available from the city that can be purchased for a maximum amount of time of up to one week. Purchasing permits means drivers can park quickly and stay as long as they would like without having to worry about feeding a meter.
