Cons: After I booked online, there was no car available.
Cons: This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. Considering I travel frequently for business, and have for more than 10 years, that is saying a lot. A couple hours after I booked my rental through Kayak, with Hertz, I received a call from Hertz informing me that the location (Chamblee – Airport Rd) did not have any cars. Chamblee Hertz referred me to their Lawrenceville location, and stated that another location that did have a car available would honor the reservation price of $67.94. I asked if he could check on it and he said no, that I had to call them myself. Ok. So I called Lawrenceville Hertz, who told me they did not have any vehicles, but that the Snellville Hertz location did have cars and he put me on hold then told me the price would be $120 something. I explained that my reservation was $67.94 and that I was not paying double that due to Hertz reserving cars at the location that were not available. I further explained that this rental was to get to a funeral out of state and I did not have time to deal with this on top of grieving for a lost loved one. I was told they were going to cancel my reservation and I told them they needed to honor it. I then asked for corporate and they transferred me to someone. That person pretty much told me there was nothing they could do, that yes the price should have been honored, but I was pretty much on my own…too bad so sad customer! I contacted Kayak via chat and was told that I needed to contact Hertz, that there was nothing they could do. Thanks for nothing there, need to remember that next time, no policy to try and care for the customer, not your problem! I contacted Hertz via chat and complained. They told me they would follow up and contact me back. I get a call from the original Hertz location (Chamblee) who told me that they misspoke, that they did have a car…convenient huh? Then he told me that what he had meant to say before was that it may not be the exact car type I had reserved. I told him I did not care if they upgraded it as long as the price was honored, and that this was for a funeral and I just needed it resolved. I clearly told him everything that had happened and that the other location had threatened to cancel my rental. After literally a couple HOURS on the phone and chatting it seemed resolved and I was assured we could pick up our vehicle, which would be ready the next morning. I get there in the morning, no car. Another hour and a half arguing to get one. Another attempt to charge way more. Multiple other customers complaining at the location of the same issue. NOPE. Not I, NEVER again.
