Cons: Breakfast on the expensive side. The staff records sensitive, not needed, information on their registration database (social security number), you have to insist to get them remove it.
The shower produces ecological amounts of water, quite enough for a good shower, but not luxurious.

We have just opened the first signature hotel in Finland, in the best spot in Helsinki city centre. Marski by Scandic has an urban beat with a Finnish twist.

It was very modern but the air was bad and the fact you just cannot see outside world was terrible. I changed the room the next day and it was great. Pros: I’m the kind of person that likes to do proper research before booking any stay and I never heard of Scandic before so I was skeptical but it exceeded wayyy beyond my expectations! Of all the hotels this was the closest to the city centre and the shops. I would also like to thank Svetlana for being SO helpful, she contacted other hotels we booked in Finland for our upcoming stays regarding some questions we had. Excellent customer service, the staff did everything they possibly could to make sure things went smooth for us. They even put a sweet treat in our room as we were celebrating our anniversary. Also, the room was huge compared to other hotels we were staying in. Will never consider staying anywhere else in Helsinki.

Cons: Had to switch rooms since there was absolutely zero cell reception in the -1 floor room I had booked. (Reception handled it nicely and there was only a small fee to upgrade to a better room above ground.) Slightly confusing lighting system in the room. Never figure out how to turn off the light in the bathroom. (Did not really matter but anyway :-))

Cons: Most definitely the bathroom. The shower was situated in the middle of the bathroom so taking a shower wet everything. One's feet were always wet using the toilet. The other thing was the required three-flight walk up to the hostel. Not recommended for people with mobility problems and lots of luggage. Also, I did not know why I was charged 2 Euros for them to call a taxi. I was told I either paid for the call or my option was to walk a few blocks to look for a taxi. For a stranger in town, this is disappointing information.

Cons: We booked a standard double bed room for 3 nights but they provided a disable twin bed room to us because we requested a room at higher floor. No cleaning, many hair on the toilet everyday. No Tea bags, kettle and slippers provided in the room. Nothing accessories in the toilet such as shower cap, toothbrush set. The bed is too soft and not comfortable.

Cons: Room looked "tired". The carpet was worn, looked dirty and was in obvious need of replacement. The desk chair was not on wheels and was hard to move into a comfortable sitting position at the desk. Some of the staff were not very congenial. They seemed ambivalent and "bothered" when I asked some basic questions.

Cons: The preservation of environment policy was too extreme. My sheets were not changed although I spent 4 nights at this hotel. I got only one piece of soap and one small shampoo bottle for the entire stay. Coffee tea facilities were not added. If environment preservation is so important to the hotel, we should get some deduction for room rates from the 2nd-night stay. The gym was outside the hotel and is actually a community gym that the hotel has access to.

Cons: My room, an upgraded single, was dusty, the air/temperature control did not work and couldn't be fixed, the reading light (the only non accent light in the room) was broken and it wasn't the bulb and they had no replacement for it, another accent light (large tube with pin holes) had come out of the wall and was sitting in the only chair with me (no room to move chair). No one was available to look at these things until the next day; I could not be moved to another room. I really think these are problems they should have found and repaired themselves.

Pros: The location of this hotel was perfectly situated about 10-15 minutes from downtown Helsinki, this was an added bonus, especially for the price. While my room was small, it had an awesome vibe and decor to it that made me feel at ease. The concierges, who spoke great English were always there to give me tips and directions to local hot spots. The overall decor and aesthetic of the hotel was beyond my wildest expectations. This building was so beautiful that I cannot express them in words. The only thing I can say is experience it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Oh did I mention the sauna and the breakfast buffet were INCREDIBLE.

Cons: The bathroom I checked in had intense feces smell, seems someone just went to #2 in the bathroom. I changed the room. Later the night, I clogged the toilet (which very rarely happen to me). The front desk staff said there is no one to fix as it was late at night. I had to either change the room again or stay in the current room and go to the bathroom in another room (the one whose bathroom had intense feces smell). The hotel was physically beautiful and the room was nicely cleaned, but this experience ruined my only one night stay in Helsinki. I felt very uncomfortable staying in this Glo Hotel. I would never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone I know.

There was also a tram stop right around the corner, so that I could get to and from the hotel with my luggage with ease. The hotel staff were all fluent in English, and went out of their way to stop and help me when I needed assistance. Pros: The location was a short walk from the main city centre, far enough away that it was quiet, but close enough that I could walk around Helsinki with no issue. There was also a tram stop right around the corner, so that I could get to and from the hotel with my luggage with ease. The hotel staff were all fluent in English, and went out of their way to stop and help me when I needed assistance. The room itself was comfortable, more spacious than I anticipated, and had the amenities I needed.
Cons: The one and only downside I spotted was that there was a little dust under my bed, but this wasn't an issue for me.

Pros: Great location in busy part of the city (kampii). Good value for money. Room had good facilities, bathroom was small but had a very good shower. Check is completed via email correspondence as is straight forward, no key system is convienent.

Cons: The ground floor room has very limited sun light due to Blinds always being down. Deliveries are mate early in the morning and are very loud, not sure if other rooms are affected but ground floor was difficult to sleep through. No physical desk could be an issue if a problem occurred but did not affect us.
