Pros: Staff was helpful
Cons: Room had a strong musky smell, looked old. Unlike the photos posted
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Helpfull staff that arranged our transportation to our next hotel in Yangshuo. They also spoke verry good English and the room was verry nice looking and clean!
Cons: None
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful staff; The room is very clean and the cleaning lady is very helpful and communicative; Very tasty noddle soup in the breakfast.
Cons: A bit noisy in the early morning (after five am) as the hotel is right next to a busy road and junction.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff
Cons: Not much but maybe more breakfast options would be nice?
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, fast check in and check out. They also offered us good tips for local breakfast. The free shuttle service is excellent, very useful for first time travellers to Guilin.
Cons: Hotel is located along a busy street so was noisy early in the morning.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at reception were enthusiastic, efficient and very helpful. They helped us a lot with our onward travel to Yangshuo and finding our way around Guilin.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Room was extremely nice, we got an upgrade free of charge to a king size bedroom, very friendly staff and English-speaking
5,5 Okay
Pros: Big room. Friendly and helpful staff. Lift available. Check-in is good.
Cons: It’s a smoking room as there were ash trays about. There weren’t any non-smoking rooms? Just a slight residual cigarette smell in the room. Breakfast is average and noted most hotels have similar breakfasts bar one that is slightly better. No coffee or tea but there is a kettle!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel helped us to get tours what we wanted. City center and tourist attractions can be reached by 30 min walk or by taxi which costs less than 2 euro.
Cons: The room was clean but the floor carpet was very scuffy, so the hotel provided slippers for guests.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff are very helpful and picked us up from bus station. It was however a very bad decision to take bus from the much-safer nearby Yangshuo as station is not safe and my girlfriend had her mobile phone stolen while we were taking down the luggage from bus. So we didn’t get to enjoy much of our three day stay there due to this very bad experience. However on the positive side, hotel staff were extremely helpful and drove us to police station (which were useless and no help at all...).
Cons: Nothing bad to say about hotel, apart from the city it is located in not being safe at all. Always have to be on the lookout as standard of living in Guilin is very low and there is a lot of theft. My girlfriend had her phone stolen immediately when we arrived at the bus station and it ruined our stay there.

9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very high value money considering the quality of the Hotel and the price of the room. Location in the center of Guiling, nearby the scenic park of the two Pagodas. Room very spacious.
Cons: No coffee available in the room, only tea.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast hour is good
Cons: everything seems fine,
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Good value for the price we pay to stay in the hotel with good breakfast. 2 Nights (28 Feb & 1 Mar), probably is the low season period. Room is large and clean. Heater is doing great. Staffs are helpful.
Cons: Coffee and tea is tasteless, 1 teabag for a pot of water. We stayed on the 3rd floor, although facing the back lane, could be heard when people talk at the ground level, so are cars passing by. Suggest requesting for higher level when staying. Total 8 level, ground level is reception and 2nd level is breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location good In walking distance to twin pagoda and pedestrian street Hotel Clean and they can manage for my family - 1 room with double bed and 1 room with twin bed Our room just side by side (Excellent)
Cons: It seem that every room is a smoking room Fortunately that smell not horrible
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful touring guide
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great and spacious. It was a family room so it had a tent and toy for kids, which is a very nice addition. The toilet had flower petals floating in it. Toilet has a sos call out and connection to reach out to the front desk which is great in case of emergency.
Cons: Having forks and knives at the breakfast area. We carried our forks so it was not an issue for us.

Pros: Everything is good with this Hotel As my review previously

7,5 Good
Cons: Taxi driver in front of hotel, they will cheat and bring you to join expensive local tour.
6,8 Good
Cons: Key cards given by front desk did not work on 3 separate occasions. We had to keep calling for someone to come up and unlock our door and it took forever. Then the manager said she would comp our breakfast and when we poked at our bill it was charged to us.

Pros: Luxury and clean with polite staff
Cons: Breakfast
6,8 Good
Pros: Clean
Cons: Facilities
5,8 Okay
Pros: Rooms are clean and nicely decorated, food at main restaurants is quite nice, swimming pool is a bonus Tourist agency in the hall is helpful in providing tickets to the city main attractions Hotel generally is clean and looks good (not counting some kitschy corners)
Cons: Well, this is the worst hotel i've visited so far, if you are attracted to the hotel style and decoration, beware, it is the only positive thing about that place, Most of the staff (with some exceptions of course) is ignorant of how hotel should treat his customers and behaves with the epic arrogance, imposing untold rules, do's and do notes without minimum of respect Be ready to continually demand all and everything otherwise they will default to absolute minimum provide you with the worst option they have (Just one example: Paid mountain view - got parking view, demanded the room change but mountain wasn't even close to one on the photo of the room they sold) Probably due to hotel management and quite strangely for china, most of the staff have angry faces and demeanor Aircon in the rooms is so inefficient that it took days to make room acceptably cool and i'm not really exigent person Cheap plastic carpets stink a bit in too hot rooms until it cools Overall it is not an relaxing and pleasurable experience you would expect from your holidays
6,8 Good
Pros: Breakfast is aceeptable and ok. Normally eat outside for lunch & dinner.
Cons: More restaurant and bar bear by

Cons: The room is a bit damp but maybe the whole city is damp.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable room, nice bathroom. Great staff, very helpful. The staff organised day tours and a dumpling cooking class with their chef.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We arrived at 2 AM , although the reception was off duty they arranged everything perfectly, staff were very helpful, location was right beside the lake
Cons: Nothing
6,3 Good
Pros: -Amazing location! Opposite the river and close to restaurants - staff spoke english ( very suprising for China) - staff tried their best to accomodate us
Cons: - Room had very bad mould and humidity. It had a very unpleasand smell which made it hard to sleep or be in the room for more than 10 minutes. They could not refund or provide another room so they provided 2 humidifier machines that we had to leave on during the day and night. Both me and my mother developed a very bad cough. My mum is still very sick and made her experience in China very unpleasant. This is extremely unprofessional and unhealthy for the guests. This should be reported - We chose the Li river cruise tour offered at the reception. Big mistake. While on the Li river cruise,we saw breathtaking views, but the tour was in Chinese ( even though we paid for the English tour) so we had no idea what we were looking at. We were not seated together with my mum(This happened to a Spanish couple as well).Only Chinese families were seated together!! They served horrible food on the boat. Very noisy and loud and they could not care less about tourists ( western tourists). Very dissapointed by the whole experience to be honest
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We have travelled in many countries over the years and several times in China and can honestly say that the Aroma Teahouse has one of the friendliest and helpful staff we have experienced anywhere. Our 13 year old daughter commented on this too. She loved the bed they had made for her in the window overlooking the river. The walk to the central shopping area only took 15-20 mins and there was a lovely walk around the lake. It was nice to feel that you could experience locals spending time at the lake too. The tea ceremony in the afternoon was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Everything was perfect !
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The location is great! The rooms are very confortable and well designed. It a perfect place to stay in Guilin and to rest from trips around the area.
Cons: They only have buffet for breakfast. I would have rather had the option to choice a simple thing in the menu.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke fluent English, and they were eager to be of assistance in all aspects. We were thoroughly impressed with their service. The hotel location was also a huge plus--right next to the Lake and within 5_10 minute walking distance to the night market, as well as the modern shopping district (with Starbucks, Burger King, large department stores, etc). We stayed at the Penthouse, which was very spacious and well-maintained. The main room has wall-to-wall windows that look onto the lake. Beautiful! Both rooms have smart TVs with a large selection of movies (both Chinese and foreign), so staying in the room was as pleasant as going out to explore the city.
Cons: None.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staffs . Good location . Clean and comfortable room .
9,3 Excellent
Pros: I got a room upgrade and the room was very comfortable, with a beautiful view. Good service, specially Harper! She was so nice!!! Wonderful location!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a lovely old hotel and the room was freshly renovated. The beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Cons: There is extensive construction going on in an adjacent, connected building that started just before 8am. You might want to check if this has been completed if you are looking for a sleep in past 8am.

Cons: No elevator
9,5 Excellent
Pros: You get the use of free laundry at this hostel
Cons: There was nothing I didnt really like. I can only recommend this hostel as the staff were so helpful. A good range of trips are available at good prices too
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location is simply perfect. Best value for money.
Cons: Bed was too soft.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, right next to the pedestrian street and the Li River. It was easy to walk around and see the city. The room and beds were very comfortable and clean, with air conditioning that worked upstairs. And the breakfast was tasty (avocado toast and freshly brewed coffee). It's nothing fancy but it's comfortable and a good value for the price.
Cons: We were mislead by the tour operator booked through the hostel and could not get a ride home. We booked a tour of the Li River through the suggestion of the hostel and with the tour operator that they use for many of their excursions. The tour did not turn out as expected and I am under the impression that the tour operator is trying to scam people. We were told that we would end the Li River cruise in Yangshuo and would have about 2 or 3 hours there to explore before getting a bus directly back to Guilin. One of the main reasons we decided on the tour was because we wanted to have easy round-trip transportation. However, as soon as we got on the bus to go to the boat dock, the driver started marketing an extra excursion to a cultural village. He claimed there would be no shopping and it was optional (this was ironic because while we were on the bus, the tour guide was trying to sell perfume and other goods on the bus as the driver drove about 30 mph down a highway). When we got off, we asked how we could get the bus directly back to Guilin and were told that they were not going to have a bus from Yangshuo to Guilin until late in the evening, around 6 or 7 (we arrived before 2). Instead, if we wanted to go back earlier, we would have to join the excursion and pay extra. Otherwise, we would have to take several public buses and pay for the cost ourselves. Because we had made plans in the evening under the impression we could get back, we decided to join the tour begrudgingly. When we met the bus, we were told that there wasn't room for us and after some argument we were put on a different bus. The whole tour involved a lot of sitting around waiting for the guides and the cultural village itself was just a short boat ride followed by a series of shops selling souvenirs. Although the boat was very nice, we were very dissatisfied with the quality of service provided by this tour operator.

Pros: Fantastic location in the Middle of a wonderful park.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel was very nicely located in the middle of a park. It looks very good, the houses are very nice and fishes swim between the houses in pools.
Cons: The golf cart pickup didn‘t work out when we arrived. Nobody picked the phone. For departing it was there and that was when it rained heavily, so all good. Appearantly it‘s an expensive hotel in comparison to others. We didn‘t mind and liked it anyways.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location & environment: being inside the botanic garden was a big plus for us. Also the hotel itself was beautifully designed, the garden landscaping was amazing! Helpful staff. Nice outdoor pool! We enjoyed our stay, thank you!
Cons: Breakfast was functional and lack of quality.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel Manager was very helpful in taking us to Qintan bus station, and provided a translation service, to ensure that the tickets met our requirements. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms were very comfortable, it was a shame that we were just passing through, but we couldn't extend our stay.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the grounds of the Hotel are absolutely beautiful. You feel like you are staying in a small private palace. The Hotel is in the middle of a very nice park, so it's very calm and quiet.
Cons: The restaurant was.. okay. It was good food, but it seemed a little underwhelming compared to how the place looked. (maybe some of the items were pre-made or frozen?) It wasn't bad though, and it wasn't too expensive.
6,3 Good

Cons: Lack of info from staff Wifi NOT working... at all Bad coffee and breakfast
7,0 Good
Pros: The park in which the hotel was based
Cons: Front desk staff were not helpful. The restaurant food was not good.

Pros: Everything I read about their reviews were spot on! They had warm and helpful staff - they didn’t have a lift but did personally help carry my heavy luggage up the steps. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable with good lighting and design. I stayed in another hotel at the same location for a similar price and am so glad I found this place ! I’d definitely recommend it and stay here again if I’m back for another trip.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly, efficient and English speaking. Large room. Very good shower and air conditioning. Plenty of tables for breakfast. Great location.
Cons: Just nits. A wooden screen in front of the receiver had to be removed in order to use the remote control to change TV channels. One of the windows had a missing latch, so it couldn't be closed tightly. The bedside lights couldn't be individually controlled - they were either both on or both off.

6,8 Good
Pros: I read all of the reviews before booking - most were correct. Great helpful staff, upgrade to executive lounge is worth it etc.
Cons: Outdoor pool only opens at 3pm, don’t recall that in the description when I booked. Western Buffet, I know what to expect having had a few of these.....but, too many tables, not enough stations. First world problems, but if you want a relaxing dining experience, don’t choose this. It’s an aircraft hangar designed for food delivery
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The staff overall were great but those in the harbour lounge were outstanding
Cons: Pool not great

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything except the breakfast.
Cons: The breakfast.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: property looks new, grand entrance, everything seemed quite fresh and shiny. staff speak little english but not a problem. Rooms were well equipped bed was very comfortable. little disappointed in the gym, several running machines and a single multifunction machine. location nice, opposite a lake, peaceful and quiet. close walking to downtown. my only concern was breakfast. The restaurant is badly laid out, designed too small for a large hotel and has these huge chairs ( completely oversized ) which make walking around the dining area almost impossible. Went for breakfast at 7;30 it was full. hardly any place to sit and was chaos. you cannot pass by another person without moving chairs to pass. the buffet was a bit sad, most people forming a queue to get eggs which was around 6 - 8 people and one egg chef. I abandoned that idea and went for coffee however they are only serving tea and coffee from a drip machine which was emptied in about 5 minutes. suddenly there was chaos in the buffet area with no tea and coffee and a long queue was disrupting the flow. the chef and multiple staff where just standing in the dining area looking around in shock and not knowing what to do. I complained that tea and coffee was not adequate for so many people and they stated to serve drinks at the table because walking around and going back and forth was like trying to find your way though a maze of chaotic people all confused and bothered by the fact that carrying a plate of food was almost impossible. I would say the breakfast was a disaster and they need to scrap the entire design and change the tables chairs and layout. also provide a fully self service tea and coffee and have more people serving fresh products like eggs.
Cons: dining room... a total nightmare
5,0 Okay
Pros: Bed comfortable
Cons: Toilet blocked, plug did not seal in the bath, mould around bath, food average, buffet cold.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice service. Nice location
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice service. Nice location.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed here several times now. It's convenient for the central Zhong Shan Road and there are a couple of markets within walking distance. There seems to have been a major revamp since my last visit, and although some may find the new decor a little "over the top", it's clean and fresh. The Western restaurant at breakfast has a reasonable choice of food, some Chinese, some Western, though I didn't take any other meals here. The walk along the lakeside opposite is beautiful and provides a route to the centre away from noisy roads. It's definitely worth checking for good price deals, for example via Ctrip. Be careful, I once accidentally booked a suite for USD 20,000 (got mixed up with the currency and number of zeros!), but luckily some intense pleading got me off the hook. Would definitely come here again.
Cons: Sometimes finding a taxi here can be a problem, though when the hotel called one for me, the charge was not unreasonable. Getting here from the airport directly requires a taxi, though this time I took a public bus to its nearest stop and walked the rest of the way (about 30 mins). In the height of summer, this might not be very pleasant, but in November it was fine.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Large and good entrance - friendly and welcoming people
Cons: Location is a bit off site
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are clean and big enough. The hotel is a few minutes away from the lakes and the pagodas, so in a very good loaction. The staff was helpful and spoke enough english. The breakfast was good.
Cons: The carpeted floors are a bit old-fashioned.

Pros: Do not let "youth hostel" turn you away. This is one of the nicest rooms in a hostel I've stayed in after 11 months of traveling. The room is very modern with all of the amenities. Fast wifi, air conditioning, couch, tea table, comfortable bed, towels, soap, and shampoo. The room is amazing and the staff is helpful. There's not a big hangout area, but there is a restaurant/bar. We ate a big breakfast for 25RMB and the dinners were also about that price or a little more but we did not eat dinner there. We easily took a taxi there from where the bus dropped us off and the hostel is located very conveniently next to all the pedestrian streets.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Room was large and comfortable. The dumpling night was great fun.
Cons: The food was average.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hostel in a good location. Great directions given on how to get there by public transport. I wish all hotels and hostels did this! Nice bar area with great coffee
Cons: A bit noisy as there is a bar opposite and then a loud speaker started up very early!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff especially the new girl. Forgot her name but she's from Yangshuo and is new. Great character and enthusiastic about making us White Russian and G&T!
Cons: Hmm maybe the photo looked too good although room was close to the photo. The noise outside from the bars was an issue during first night.

Pros: Stayed here twice (total of 3 nights). Good location; clean and spacious rooms (one of the nicest hostel rooms I've stayed in); toiletries available; helpful staff. Hair dryer was broken and they promptly sent a repairman to replace it. Would stay here again.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish in the room, someone obviously cares a lot about their hostel. The room was very big and the bed very comfortable. The hostel was brilliantly located and felt very safe in the area. The communal rooms were also very spacious and comfortable with lots of menu choices.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We liked just about everything! This is a great place. Fantastic staff! Great location! More like a private hotel than a hostel. Beautiful spacious room and bathroom. Everything Squeaky clean. Free washing machine available. Cooked American breakfast for aud5 each. A lovely, lovely place to stay. Definitely recommended! And they wouldn’t let us carry our cases as were were on the third floor with no lift and we are “grey nomads”! And they were among the few places to sell tonic water for our g n t!
Cons: no lift!

Cons: All good, Japanese style room is very small.

Cons: This place is really dated and hasn’t been well maintained. Strong smell of stale cigarettes in my room. Windows broken, everything on the brink of falling apart, carpets worn, torn and frayed, etc etc I would NOT recommend this to anyone.

Cons: Nothing in particular
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Generally a great hostel. Good breakfast and excellent location. Helpful staff! Would recommend to anyone, just a shame that some rooms are better than others when paying the same price.
Cons: We came back and stayed here for a night after being in Yangshuo for a week. This room was not as good as the first, the window looked out on to another part of the hostel so room was quite dark and smelt quite damp.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly. they offered to keep some of our stuff whilst we were visiting another city and were returning to the hostel, they spoke English, it was very close to the lake.

6,8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent.Location was close to the lake and river with lovely gardens and pathways.
Cons: The Cocktail lounge was just a joke , Staff need training, how to make mixed drinks ect. They were wiling and polite, but had no idea what to do.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is really convenient and the rooms are comfortable .
Cons: The escalator was not working at 5.45am in the morning and we needed to go to the Lobby from the 2nd level . Really inconvenient.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, placed centrally among the key tourist attractions with easy access to restaurants. Party atmosphere in the area in the evening. Luxury feel with a brilliant swimming pool and access to fridge. Having a tourism desk on site very good for arranging to visit attractions, such as the essential Li River cruise. Being able to change currency and have your postcards posted also really helpful.
Cons: Most hotels have facilities for hanging up your washing and this was not easy here. Filling the fridge with their products not helpful. Better advertising of the amazing Seven Stars park and cave would benefit other tourists. Tour desk did not fully explain the difficulties of some of the more distant tours, such as the rice terraces.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location and the waterfall (on the hotel walls)
Cons: The hotel is old-fashioned, accommodates many tourist groups and is over-crowded during most of the breakfast time
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Nice area
Cons: Both kinds of breakfast which they offer are not worth the price
7,0 Good
Pros: Bed is great but swimming pool is embarrassing. Good location.
Cons: Swimming pool.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The lobby was huge and sterile but staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Beds in china are a bit too firm for me but the linens were very nice. This hotel is in a perfect location with the lake in front and he pedestrian mall behind. I would 100% stay here again if I returned to Giuliin.
Cons: TV list claimed two channels in English but there were none. I did not eat in the hotel. The restaurant I saw was huge and uninviting. I found great food off the pedestrian mall a couple of blocks from the hotel.
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Invite domestic and foreign friends not to stay in this hotel, their lobby manager's service attitude is too bad, the property security of the hotel is not guaranteed, people who want to stay must pay attention to it. After checking in, I went to the hotel swimming pool to swim. The mobile phone was lost in their hotel safe. The Hotel didn't cooperate at all. There are too many thieves in this hotel. There are thieves in the hotel. So far, I haven't got a reasonable answer. The lobby manager 133 received a bad call and said it was not their responsibility to ask the public security.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: The most pathetic hotel I ever stayed with any where in the world. They claimed it to be a 5 star hotel where as it as not even a 2 star hotel. The hotel staff was the most unfriendly and least professional. The overall experience was nightmarish.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: High standard of the hotel, availability of facilities such as swimming pool and spa, beauty of the surrounding area’s river promenades

2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The hallway carpets were dirty, the whole place is shabby and old, no toilet paper. If they give you a map at the fron desk you'd better give it back or you'll pay. On the listing they offer an airport pick up but they don't - it should be removed from the listing. Taxis from the airport are scammers and rip you off

Cons: Nothing
7,0 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Stench of cigarette smoke thru out the room.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location is good. When we checked-in, I asked about upgrades available and we got 2 rooms with remodelled bathrooms. Comfortable spacious rooms. You get 4 free water bottles (500 ml) per day in the room. Very nice outdoor swimming pool. Steep deposit on credit card upon check-in ( both deposit + precharged breakfast ( even though i mentioned that i wasnt sure yet to have breakfast there). Be sure the deposit is cancelled right away upon check-out.
Cons: Breakfast buffet very pricy(140 yuan pp). In most “ western” hotels the buffet is around 110 yuan. When I asked if there was bottled cold water, I had to pay 20 yuan per bottle , which I refused. The buffet did have a good choice of food but not better than other hotels to justify the price.
6,8 Good
Pros: The hotel is too old and needs renovation. The bed is depressed this you can’t have good sleep.
5,0 Okay
Cons: Food for breakfast n dinner not up to expectations
