Cons: I got there at 10:30pm and the reception was closed. Apparently it closes at 10 which seems crazy for a 3 star hotel. Had hard time contacting them to get the door open as the buzzer didn't seem to work. The heater in my room was not working either so pretty cold night.

Cons: I did not like the atmosphere of the hotel. The room was very warm, there was no airconditioning and the windows hardly opened. The curtains were too short, so in the morning the room was much too bright to allow a good bedrest. Overall the building the hotel is situated in looks daunting. I was discomforted during my stay and would not go back to this hotel again.

Pros: I absolutely love this hotel! It is right in the center of the city and oozes warmth and charm. As a frequent visitor to Groningen, this is always my first choice when it is available. The rooms are large and cozy at the same time. The beds are wonderful. The lobby features a wood paneled drawing room, complete with fireplace. Step out the front door into the Grote Markt. It doesn't get any more central than this. The staff are friendly and helpful. And it is very often the least expensive option. There is nothing about this place not to love.

Cons: Double room was small for two people - one of them had to squeeze in to the bed and very uncomfortable toilet arrangement (wall was too close so if you were taller than 1.60 your knees couldn't fit and had to sit sideways). No coffee or kettle in the room so have to get downstairs to get morning coffee. Also not the hotel's fault, but some of the buildings around the hotel had really loud music through the night (2 of the 3 nights we stayed there).

Cons: The break out area next to the reception were guests could relax by reading was not comfortable. I felt like I was in a train station waiting room. It is a shame as there was a fire but the seating arrangement and the actual seats let this area down. Restaurant menu was expensive €18 burger and the menu was limited in choice and did not change during our stay of 7 days.

Although I ve noticed them about the fact that Im gonna be alone from the second day, not from the third as the booking have been made, they didnt check it and disactivated my card upon so called check out. I said what check out...as I am not leaving today . I have a booking for another 3 nights.... anyway.. And another thing: they wanted to bill me on my credit card, but I ve told them since we checked in that I want to pay cash. She insisted that get coleague already used my card for billing. I insisted as well that I do not care and I want cash. So she finally billed me as requested.

Cons: My room was quite dark as there was only a very small window. The facilities were minimal for the type of room I had. You can't store food in the room and you can't make a cup of tea/coffee either (no kettle or coffee machine; no fridge). So you have to rely on the hotel's restaurant. I had to open my window to air the room (despite the cold) because of the smell that I think was due to the old wooden structure of the room.
