Dangerous rentalPros:Check out took forever. We got a 2014 mitsubishi and took it to our rental and the very next morning the tire air light went off. We out air twice in the tires. The wipers did not work well and on the island it rains on and off and we needed it quite a bit for the 12 days. We then had the wrench light go off the entire trip. 4 days into the trip before we moved south we brought it in and had it looked at but there were no other cars available so all they can do was clean the wipers. Not to forget to mention the tires were bald and that made driving a hazard. The employees most were fine. The service guy who tried to help was nice.Reviewed Jan 8 2016

Cons:Oh my, this place is a mess... it's now called allied. I rented here before with the same experience. This time I had to cancel because they were saying my online rate wouldn't allow me to use my private vehicle full coverage.... so rented online then they wanted an additional 174$... went to NU down the street got a nicer car for same original online price. Also 2 different customers were accused of damaging their car while we were standing in line, both had taken pics and proved otherwise. It is slow, rude, disorganized, poorly ran, etc.Reviewed Jan 30 2020

Don't be late.Pros:The bi-lingual staff genuinely tried to be helpful. The 24-hour shuttle is great.Cons:Our flight was delayed and when we showed up three hours later than our reservation time, they informed us that our reservation had been cancelled and they had given away our car. They have a strict 1-hour cancellation policy, which was not disclosed anywhere during the booking process. We had to wait two hours for a car to become available. Our first shuttle driver was incredibly rude. Our second one was great. This place is 1/2 the price of their competitors because they are about half as good.Reviewed Feb 27 2017

surprise with pickup, but great price!Pros:Anyone visiting Puerto Rico who does not want to spend all their time at the hotel/resort should definitely rent a car! It is basically the only way to see the island's amazing sites and activities. Renting with E-Z Car Rental (aka Allied) was OK. The reservation quoted me a great price. The company is not located at the airport, but they have a free shuttle that will take you to and from their location near the airport. Sadly, we I got to their office, they had no cars. There were about a dozen of us that were told that. Ended up that I wasn't going to wait HOURS for a car and I asked them to take me to my hotel... which they did. They said that they would call me when a car became available. Fortunately, there was another (smaller) E-Z / Allied location near my hotel... and I just went there and was able to secure a car at the same rate reserved. They asked me to return the car to the location near the airport (which is open 24 hours), which I did and that experience was completely hassle-free. There were no surprise charges. Their shuttle took me to the airport for an early morning flight.Cons:The customer service people certainly should of been more patient and friendly.Reviewed Jan 22 2017

Price agreed with Kayak is pointless as they addedPros:The car was new which was nice.Cons:Service was extremely slow. I was not educated on the toll pass and how the toll roads work on PR upon asking about why one would need to purchase the toll pass etc. I was not told that the rental car company has an agreement that you cannot pay tolls once you reach a toll booth but must rather do everything through the rental car company. It would have been really nice if the man behind the counter actually answered these questions which I did ask during the pick up. I will never use this company again.Pros:NothingCons:We waited on the curb at the airport for the shuttle for over an hour, even after four phone calls to the company. When the shuttle finally arrived, it smelled terrible. The location is far from the airport, at least a twenty minute ride. We then stood in line waiting to check in for over an hour. (The line was short, but there were only two stations open and the check in process seemed quite lengthy.) When it was finally our turn, the desk agent chose to skip over us to assist someone else. We decided it would be faster and less frustrating to take an Uber back to the airport and use a different company. Worst place ever!!!! Do not rent a car from here!!Pros:I didn't had any good experience with these guys! Worst rental place ever not even the bathroom had toilet paper!Cons:Had to wait 3 hours in line! Only one guy behind the counter! Once it was my turn they didn't had my car! I got a cargo van and had to come back the other day!. Every other person was so pissed off about their service! I got a Toyota Yaris which is an economy car. When I returned it they charged me 30$ per day extra for an upgrade which I didn't receive. I didn't sign the contract for the bill.... Now I have to deal with their claim department which is probably going to be as bad as the rental itself! Don't safe 50$ on a rental. Go to enterprise or any other rental place!Reviewed Jan 6 2016

Overbooked scamCons:I made a reservation for what appeared to be a very cheap 3 day rental in Puerto Rico. Got to SJU and used EZ rental shuttle to their facility to be told they were overbooked. This is the same thing they told everyone getting there from the airport in their shuttles. Why not tell people in the airport about this overbooked situation? The guy at the desk told me that they can't do this, that the shuttle drivers could get fired for doing that. Those were getting nice tips from people driven to the rental facility. Why would E-Z Rent A Car have these crazy rates to then be overbooked? Rumor while waiting at 4 AM at their facility was that they do this to get everyone to their location. If they have a car, they get you, if not, they don't lose anything. Terrible business tactics to me. I suggest look at the other rental companies before wasting a lot of time.Reviewed Sep 9 2017

Good car, terrible customer servicePros:Reliable car, no major hasselsCons:The customer service counter individual had little interest in assisting us. More interested in drinking coffee, moving very slowly (with a long line piling up behind us). I booked the car through rentalcar online, but the EZ rental/allied rental customer service agent didn't follow the rental info I completed. He also didn't listen to our request for who the primary and sole driver would be; then he went ahead and added a second driver, which he neglected to tell us, nor did he tell us there was an additional charge. When I read through the agreement before signing it, we noticed the additional charges and errors made. We requested the change be made back to how we had requested when we rented the car online (which is also what we requested when we walked up to the counter). He finally started to move a little quicker, but was rather unpleasant. I would prefer not to rent from EZ rental/Allied again in the future, as there are enough other car rental agencies with decent customer service (especially when in a foreign country)Reviewed Jan 26 2016

Horrible customer servicePros:The car was ok. Comfy and what I needed, but it smelled a bit like urine. The line to pick up the car was short, but the wait was insane. We waited for an hour total to get our car, which is crazy considering I had a reservation. Also, there are hidden fees like the airport service fee it something for $17.00 and they don't tell you when you reserve about the toll charges - so you have to purchase that for an additional $10 a day. When I dropped the car off, no one helped me with my luggage considering I was by myself with two young children. I had to make 3 trips to and from the car and two gentlemen just stood there and didn't offer to help. I'm not sure if it was the business or what, but I'm never renting a car here ever again.Reviewed Jan 22 2017

Wrong Name and Wrong AddressPros:The building is relatively new. The shuttle bus was new. The workers were reasonably nice.Cons:The name of the company is actually Allied Car and Truck Rental (confusing). The address given on Kayak for pickup is in Isla Verde, one block from our hotel, which is how I chose this. However, the actual address is in Carolina on a road called "Marginal Los Angeles." It's not totally out of the way, and it's near other agencies we would all recognize, but IT'S NOT THE ADDRESS OF RECORD. Finally, I was quoted a price of $115.64 for a 4 day rental (Mon-Fri). I was upcharged for a toll booth device, which I could have avoided, but played it safe ($10 + $6.95/day). I was 3 hours late on return, so I was charged an extra day of rental (not totally unreasonable ($22). Therefore, I was prepared to pay $70 more on my bill ($185 ish). I ended up paying $230.95. So, my taxes, fees and random add-ons came to approximately $45 above what Kayak had quoted me. I did not argue with the workers, and perhaps I should have. I gave more value to ending the relationship instead of haggling over $45, but I have it on good account that this rental company misrepresents costs by 40% and misrepresents name and location to the 3rd parties who bring them clients. Therefore, I would advise companies like Kayak to drop Allied Car and Truck Rental from their list of places offered, or represent location and cost more accurately. Oh, and we got 3 phone calls on the day of return asking where their car was, which made me feel as though the company either did not trust me or ran out of cars. When I got there, they had plenty of cars, so I'm going with trust or lack there of.Reviewed May 29 2016

Had reservation, no cars available...Cons:We flew into Puerto Rico around 8:00 on a Friday night. Had a reservation for an economy car, there were 2 people in front of me in line and about 8 people behind me that had just come form the airport. When I made it up to the front desk I was told they had zero cars available. She explained that they were waiting for cars to be returned and it would be one or two hours until we would have one. I told her we were staying about 10 minutes away and asked if their shuttle could drop us off so we could check in and get some food while we waited, she said that would be no problem. Two shuttle drivers refused to take us to the hotel claiming they were short handed and we would have to wait for a third shuttle driver to arrive. We got an Uber and checked in and had dinner while we waited for the call that never came. I called the next morning explaining that what happened the night before and asking when a car would be available. They said I was first on the list and they would call as soon as a car was returned. Two hours later we decided to rent a car from another agency and went to cancel this reservation without so mich as an apology. Very disappointing.Reviewed Jan 25 2017
