Cons: The admin and reception was the worst part a majority of the time in addition to the room service. The reception was lazy and not helpful at all when we needed assistance and the room service brought us cold food and wrong orders. Also you couldn't open any windows and had to keep the shade drawn so people couldn't see right into the room - so was very dark.

Pros: It was very clean, staff was friendly and helpful. They even let us borrow a couple dishes for the room. We also appreciate the coffee/tea for the room. We were also able to borrow extra blankets and pillows.
Cons: This room was for my mom and disabled brother. It was supposed to be an accessible and, although the room size was great for moving around with a wheelchair, etc., there were no other accessible features. No roll-in shower, no door opener. Also, during one load of laundry the washer took 2 extra quarters because the coin display apparently had a lag and didn't update until I had accidentally overpaid. I had hoped the front desk would refund this to me since they would be getting the extra quarters and not losing the money. Instead they kept the extra quarters.

Pros: The location was close to the US Air Force Academy's south gate with many restaurants and Starbucks right across the street. Initially I thought the beds were too firm, but I was able to get comfortable for a restful night's sleep. The complimentary oatmeal cookies in the evening were delicious.
Cons: At least for my room on the first floor, I could hear foot steps at night from the guests above. Keeping the heating and A/C fan constantly running did help drown out the step noise.

Pros: It was easy to book online and they allowed pets at an affordable rate. Checking in was very fast and simple. Breakfast items were well stocked though it was a basic breakfast, nothing fancy.
Cons: We arrived about 4:30pm and they gave us a key at check in. We entered our room and dropped off our stuff. We left to finish packing our apartment for our move. We returned to the hotel near midnight and could not enter our room. We thought the key was deactivated until we noticed a "do not disturb" sign on the door. We went to the front desk to find that they had given our room away (with our stuff in it). They also informed us that they had completely booked up the hotel and they had no rooms available. Then they told us to wait. Then they told us they did have an available room on the fifth floor in a separate building. The room they gave us was downgraded from our reservation, nails in the wall, peeling paint, and the room smeeled like urine (the smell was worse after turning on the AC which was off...We figured someone urinated in the AC unit itself). Having no AC in a room that reeked of urine was not a pleasurable stay at Howard Johnson and has turned me off to staying at any of there hotels ever.

Cons: I paid online through Kayak and they charged my card, then Howard Johnson charged my card 2 more times for the same room. I also had to switch rooms 3 times because the 1st room had a clogged toilet, then the second room was still dirty from the people who had stayed there the night before. The person who checked me in was rude, but tolerable. The "assistant manager" that I spoke with about the charges to my card was extremely rude, and had no idea what she was talking about and gave the worst customer service I've ever had, hands down.

Pros: Pike's Peak was my view; can't go wrong with that. One room was left with that view, and I checked in late. Located close to many restaurants, stores.
Cons: Shower curtain was stinky and musty, and bathtub in poor shape. Garbage pails were dirty under the plastic bags, and something sticky was on the floor. Loud neighbors in middle of the night. Continental breakfast was something to be desired. They had a swimming pool with no water in it.

Pros: I've always enjoyed staying at the Howard Johnson. Beds are comfortable and my husband and I were able to get a good nights sleep for the first time in a long time. Even though there are things that are wrong with the hotel, if you don't let it bother you, you won't even notice them. If you're a complainer, don't stay here. I also like that this is the only hotel that allows dogs over 30lbs.
Cons: That they need to put money back into the hotel to fix up the rooms and to fix the things that are broken without raising the price of the stay. Not much I don't like about the Howard Johnson. I enjoy staying there when I am in town.

Pros: The staff was very friendly. The rooms looked updated and were clean. The shower was great, and the bed was comfortable! Good basic hotel for the price.

Pros: We loved how there was a Wal-Mart right up the street. It's right off the exit of North Academy, which means there's a lot of places we could have visited if we chose to do so. There's a Goodwill across the street from the hotel that I wanted to drop in on, but we were only there for a day. There isn't a bathtub but my son loved the shower so much he wanted to live there forever. The room had a big TV, a dresser, a desk with a chair, a wardrobe, and a chair that made it feel like home.
Cons: Like everywhere I go, people don't know how to pick up their trash. I'm pretty sure the hotel employees did a great job at picking everything up when they had a chance, I would just like to see people be responsible for their surroundings, regardless on if its your trash or not.

Cons: The light bulb next to my bed flickered continuously throughout the evening even when the light switch was turned off. I was concerned of a potential fire hazard so I contacted the front desk and they told me to turn off all other switches in the room first. Unfortunately that did not fix the problem so I called the front desk again and they approved the idea of unscrewing the light bulb from the light fixture.

Cons: The rooms is ok you get what you pay for. The shower door broke and I reported it and they did nothing about so I was there two days with a busted open shower door. They had a trainee working alone and she could not help me with any questions I had.

Cons: The assistant manager brushed off my suggestion for better safety in the bathroom. I fell and the room was for the handicapped. I suggested another bar where the towel bar was obviously used for bracing and broken off. There were two bars on the wall in the tub area. Two bars at different heights on the wall just outside of the tub was logical and needed too.

Cons: I didn't like the stay, the beds, the closet size continental breakfast room, the rooms. For the money, I expected way more but I was happy they allowed me to refund my money. I checked out early due to my dissatisfaction. Will never stay at a Days Inn in the future. Also, the presentation of the staff. Walking up to the front of the hotel, one would be confused as to who works there.. From tshirt, scarfs on their heads while working behind the front desk to sitting right outside the front office smoking, very unprofessional when you are trying to obtain customers and want them to return.

Cons: It started at check in with the front desk clerk rude that I was there at 3:30pm and check in was 4pm even though Kayak's website said check in at 3pm. The room was filthy. Dirty bedspread and down right disgusting. At 10pm we were awakened by the person upstairs stomping around their room for 2 hours then again at 3am. It was like the walls were paper. Horrible stay!! Would never stay there agin.

Pros: When looking up affordable hotels on Kayak, most of the reviews for other hotels were very negative, saying the rooms were dirty, and all sorts of negative stuff. This place was very clean, staff was very nice, and when I showed up the bill was $20 cheaper than what Kayak quoted me. I would highly recommend staying here.
