2,0 Mediocre
Cons: The bed is too old, with a kind of small hole in the middle, pushing the 2 persons in bed to move together in the center. The room was cold and wet when we arrived. The heating is too small for the room and it was set too low before we arrived. The heating is noisy: every 2 minutes it starts and stops, with a cracking sound when heating and when getting colder. It was a VERY BAD NIGHT ! Moreover, I'm not sure that I will be refund for the 2nd night we booked but spend in another hotel.
3,8 Mediocre
Cons: Too much noise in the evening with people knocking on doors and talking out loud in the corridor No tables available for breakfast as too many people were having breakfast so had to have on a sofa No plates available so had to ask. Very disappointed When I told the receptionist, she confirmed that the hotel was full (a cyclist group was staying) and that many other people had complained too. It felt there was not enough staff to deal with the demand.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The beds were comfortable.
Cons: We phoned ahead and were assured that late arrival was ok. Then a change of shift and attitude. It’s closed. And the phone going dead. We had to call back twice to gain access. The room was ok except for insect bites in one of them. We suspect bed bugs. It’s a budget hotel but we nearly had to spend the night in the car. We arrived before the latest advertised access time of midnight. Not great.
6,7 Good
Cons: The room smelled of damp and there was an electrical blackout in the morning only at the hotel.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: See sbove It gave me a place to stay in the stage 3 epidemic
Cons: I was here in the stage 3 coronovirus shut down and may have been the only hotel guest. Sometimes the clerk was not there. I mostly went to the few open places to buy supplies. However i was able to secure the kind services of the french veterinarian to provide a worming for my dog to go to Ireland The taxi operators were great The neighborhood of the hotel was great. My small room has a window door that opened to the front of the hotel. I was able to self isolate with.my dog very well. I think this hotel saved me from being without a place to stay. The electric appliances like the teapot and the shower heater worked well. However the room has only a small storage heater so the room was cold when the outside temperature wss 9 centigrade. It is really a refuge in the time of the coronovirus In regular times it needs a separate viewing

10,0 Excellent
Pros: For a chain hotel, used as an overnight ferry stop, we were surprised how comfortable and quiet the room was. All was clean and tidy, with a very comfortable bed and tea and coffee making items supplied. The bathroom was a pod, surprisingly spacious, with a good sized walk in shower which worked very well. We ate dinner in the restaurant which offered a range of food, and which we both enjoyed. Ideal stopover and we will definitely stay here again.
Cons: All very good.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean room. Great breakfast
Cons: The room was too warm for me and the thermostat could not be changed. Bad sleep. Dinner and service was regular.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The room was clean and pleasant.
Cons: The restaurant was like an episode of Fawlty Towers. In the 20 minutes we waited to be given a menu we saw an a disagreement with a customer, one person delivered the wrong meal and decided to leave without ordering. We also stayed at the IBIS at Bilbao it is an exemplar!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: I came here after Mr.Macron declared a level 3 coronavirus emergency, so the hotel stayed open just one night. This was sad because it is a friendly place but had to close due to bring mostly empty. I am now in another hotel in Cherbourg. The breakfast was great and the room comfortable only thing was dragging my bags up a flight of stairs, but that is a familiar exercise for me navigating train stations in France. The surroundings are airy and it is sunny today. They do not serve buffet, and today was the last for in room breakfast which was really great. They were also helpful with calling taxis and nice to my chihuahua I have stayed at other hotels in Cherbourg and this one is my preferred. So I hope they reopen very soon.. I speak French very poorly, but the speak English pretty well, so I could understand and request
Cons: I as not sure if there was a store nearby to buy snacks now that all the shops are closed. There is no elevator.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great and you have free parking
Cons: The room looks a little bit old due to the carpet but it is neat and tidy and the bathroom seems to be refurbished recently.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was only a very short walk into Cherbourg which was full of bars and restaurants. The breakfast was very good at the hotel = everything you would expect but eat as much as you like. Brilliant Value for money. An excellent indoor swimming facility very close by.
Cons: Difficult to see how it could be improved. We will definitely be going again.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly and attentive
Cons: Very poor service at breakfast. I had to knock on the kitchen door to ask about seating having stud there for nearly 10 minutes. The waitress and chef where too busy talking instead of dealing with customers

Pros: Convenience for cross-Channel ferry. Nearby major supermarket. Able to check in easily. Spacious room
Cons: Nothing in particular
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very chic. Comfortable chairs. Snowy white bed linen.i love that I could open the windows.
Cons: Would be nice to make tea/coffee in the room or to have a small guest lounge where this could be done.
7,9 Good
Pros: Proximity to railway station and to harbours
Cons: Noise of traffic . In retrospect , we would have been happier in a rear room, overlooking the garden.
5,0 Okay
Pros: They accommodated my particular request from the booking form, as best they could. Very clean and recently updated bathroom/WC. Windows that opened fully. Turquoise cushions and curtains. Didn't get bedbugs.
Cons: 1. The booking.com info said breakfast, there was NO breakfast. 2. Beds are not spring mattresses, for most they will be fine, but I get a 2-3 day long, very severe headache from sleeping without springs. 3. "Free" WiFi required all of my details, which is far to intrusive for free, un-secure internet. 4. Towel in bathroom was brand new, and un-washed, so did not absorb any water... Not the best quality in a towel. 5. Can not stay a minute too long without paying for an extra whole night. A small fee for an extra hour or two would have been appreciated. 6. No lift 7. No telephone in room

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming friendly reception. Even helped carry our bags upstairs. Clean room. Shutters on windows. Lovely bar just over the road with every drink you could ever want.
Cons: Little far away from restaurants, but price reflects that and bar across the road is great for drinks. Could have done with tea and coffee making facilities. Wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for the option.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The large room and the private bathroom with a bathtub. The location is not far from the city center and some restaurants and shops open late night nearby.
Cons: The WIFI did not work all night. I only stayed one day but no WIFI there. There was no spa button working for the private bathtub. The room image is gorgeous but some parts are not functioning.

Pros: Handy location for ferry port. Hosts polite and helpful.
Cons: Bathroom ok, but could do with makeover.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Residence La Rose Des Vents in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, you'll be a 2-minute walk from Holy Trinity Basilica and 7 minutes by foot from Thomas Henry Museum.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing! So convenient. So clean! No carpet but that is part of why the unit was SO CLEAN & FRESH. The nearby Trinite Car Park is free after 7pm and it was free all weekend as we stayed over the Whit holiday. We liked the freedom of the key pad entry. Lots of restaurants nearby plus the Cherbourg Yacht Club that welcomes visitors. We loved the ringing of the Notre Dame Cathedral bells on Sunday morning. We had a lovely view of Cherbourg's inner harbour from all 3 windows in our apartment (we had 2 rooms & kitchenette).
Cons: There is no lift or hotel luggage staff so we had to carry our luggage & sundries like wine & nibbles up 3 floors (6 flights) of stairs! We are in our early 70's so that was a bit of a challenge, but also a reminder to redouble our walking & exercise efforts! Having our 19 year old daughter with us also helped! This is a SMALL grumble given the many other important positives about this hotel.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location worked well.
Cons: Very small for 4 of us. Expecially the shower. Just very cramped. For 2 it'd be OK though.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: The building has 7 flights of stairs with no lift, it is not disabled friendly, don't know what would happen if their was a fire, didn't see any smoke alarms, escape route, as we were on the top floor, the apartment is not suited for 4 adults, two at the most. If you are booking find out what floor you are on first, wouldn't book again.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Convient location.
Cons: Didn't see any staff. The bed for the children was a pull out bed, which was fine, but there was a table and chair in the way. We had to move it in front of the door to unfold the bed. The bathroom was awful. Very tiny, just like a bathroom you have on a ferry! Quite ridiculous. Was not convinced the pillows for the pull out bed were clean.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Check in was obviously easy. Room was clean and functional.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The response from the staff on my questions was prompt and very kind
8,3 Excellent
Pros: It was peaceful place...I enjoyed my stay.
Cons: I never met anyone it's self entry and checkout...they sent keycode for entry.. I didn't check my email until after I arrive in Cherbourg.lucky I had data on phone. Otherwise I wouldnt have worked it out
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location near the fishing port and old town. Convenient for ferries too
Cons: WiFi a bit intermittent
4,6 Okay
Pros: The Location
Cons: Climbing 6 flights of stairs to the room, no lift, fire hazzard waiting to happen, sleeping on the top floor with no means of escape other than going back down 6 flight of stairs, glad to leave.

Pros: A bit apprehensive as the hotel didn't look as nice as the photo and there was a huge skip outside, however the manager was friendly and helpful enough to allay these fears.
Cons: flowers outside like in the photo
7,0 Good
Pros: A very typical French two star hotel, with lots of character and great value for money. Perfect for an overnight stay while waiting for the ferry. The room was very quiet and clean with a very comfortable bed. The room was small with a very small en-suite shower room, but very sufficient for the price.
Cons: The hotel was a little distance from the centre of town, however, it was within easy reach of several excellent restaurants and bars.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A very friendly welcome to the hotel. The host was very helpful and looked after us well. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Cons: Room was a little bit small
7,5 Good
Pros: The hotel was as expected, basic and clean. It was okay for a night while waiting to take the ferry back to the UK. Breakfast was good and the front desk person was helpful in getting us a taxi.
Cons: The hotel had a very narrow staircase and our room was on the second floor, so it was difficult to get our suitcases up the stairs. Other than breakfast, there were no services offered as expected. But, we felt overall the overnight stay in Cherbourg was wasted because but there wasn't a lot to do or see in that area of Cherbourg.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The lady & gentleman at reception were very helpful. The room & bathroom were very clean.
Cons: The stairs were positively lethal, especially as they were wet due to the rain, & very difficult with SMALL cases. It would have been helpful to know that the road ws closed as we were arriving by car.

Pros: The lovely owner made sure we were comfortable in the room. The hotel is really near many restaurants. Breakfast is good, especially the coffee.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast & location

Pros: Very helpful friendly staff. Good location for the Ferry Port. Continental Breakfast is extra but you get loads.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Please note that this 2 star hotel needn’t be judged by first looks or the fact it’s only 2 star... Close to the Cherbourg port, literally 3 or 4 mins drive.....close to restaurants and bars, clean and tidy, breakfast was a French one, baguette, cheese, ham, yogurts, croissant and coffee plus juices and nuts and fruit to choose from as well as cereals...lovely helpful staff, secure garage to use for £6 a night off road and enclosed with locked garage doors!!! Handy as we had a Vw transporter from camping!! Helpful knowledgeable staff to guide us to visit the area, citi de la mer was definitely a great option to visit the submarine, story of the titanic and a great aquarium!! £60 for all day was great value with restaurant and snack bar within the premises...plentiful hot water for a bath/shower and nice towels.
Cons: Nothing really, a bit dated but really did not affect our stay...
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel close to the centre. Hotel owner couldn't have been more helpful or nice. Lovely spacious room with bath/sower ensuite. very clean and comfortable. Whilst there is some traffic noise in the day (we are in a city), at night it is quiet enough. You have to have the windows closed at night = but in the summer, have them open in the day with shutters down to keep the room cool, should be ok at night to have windows closed as it is an airy room with high ceilings. like a lot of hotels, this now has laminate floors - this means that you hear people clattering around in the room above. I prefer carpets as they help with sound insulation - but I know some people prefer laminate as it is easier to clean - swings and roundabouts. I was lucky that other guests seemed to go to bed at a reasonable hour, so was able to get a good night's sleep with the noise of their moving around stopping at a reasonable hour. Very considerate guests all round so people were not making a row and thoughtful of others. Saw some reviews complained of noise from people in the street making a racket - but this did not happen when i was there. The location is good and generally a quiet street near the church. All in all it was the perfect mini break. Hotel in excellent location for shops, harbour, restaurants. Staff excellent. Had been there before and would definitely use again.
Cons: Nothing. It is an old building and the floor boards very squeaky in parts - managed to avoid when late at night to avoid disturbing other guests.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for one night before our ferry departure. Grand little spot. 2mins walk from the quayside where there was a selection of restaurants. We had a family room right behind reception on the ground floor which was great. Comfortable, clean with all facilities and well presented. Plenty of space for our family of 5
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for overnight stay and the most helpful and accomodating person in charge of all our stops during a month in France. Spotlessly clean.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Bed was extremely comfortable. Shutters completely blocked traffic noise so quiet once dark.
Cons: Hadn't realised there was no lift and as I wanted a bath my room on third floor. Stairs not steep. Bath good but as I have a mobility problem found I couldn't turn over to get out. Neither was a non slip mat provided so improvised with dry towel.

Pros: Very welcoming.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was beautifully presented and we were accommodated with an early breakfast, which was good of them. The room was truly exceptional, spotlessly clean and the décor was stunning. A football team could sleep in the double bed it was huge. The sheets were clean and the bed very comfy. Huge bath, separate shower and toiletries provided. It was lovely and warm inside despite the huge room and the welcome was wonderful.
Cons: A cooked breakfast option would have been nice, although the bread and croissants were fresh and delicious. You need to be able bodied to get to the bedrooms, as these are accessed via a stone spiral staircase, which is enchanting and incredibly impressive, but if you struggle with stairs this may prove difficult. I don't know if they have ground floor bedrooms, you would have to enquire.
10,0 Excellent
Cons: It was an exceptional place to stay. Very welcoming hosts, fantastic breakfast and peaceful and beautiful country house and gardens. We hope to return soon.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is an elegant old stone building located in a peaceful quiet setting among trees and a grassy field. The periphery of the property was lined with several other original stone buildings, including a barn. The property is about a 10 minute drive outside Cherbourg so a taxi or an Uber is needed if you don't have a car. The owner graciously offered to drive us back to town the next morning. Every detail was thought through. The whole property was in perfect condition and was beautifully decorated. The room was large. The bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom and appeared to have been recently and tastefully remodeled. The stay included breakfast with fresh fruit, crepes, various beads, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, etc.
Cons: The hotel was perfect, but taxis and Ubers were a bit sparse in Cherbourg so it was a bit of a challenge getting to the hotel (we did not have a car on this trip).
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Stunning manor house. Excellent hosts. Great room. Great breakfast
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and charming location a bit out of town. The host could not be more accommodating and their choice of decor and furniture is impeccable. Certainly a place we would stay in again.
Cons: Would have preferred to stay longer !
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay, it is delightful. The hosts are lovely and their attention to detail was extremely pleasing. The beds were very comfortable, the bed linen understated and good quality. Small things, for example, the nighttime water carafes were lovely and very thoughtful. The bathroom fittings were excellent and the products provided were generous and nice to use. Everything in both the bedroom and the bathroom felt super clean. The Cotentin Peninsula is worth exploring, there are some gorgeous and places to visit and lots of history to discover. The Manoir is only a few minutes drive from the ferry but once there is a haven of peace and tranquility and makes an excellent base to tour the area.Breakfast was well worth a mention, again the attention to detail is pleasing. The food offered is all delicious with just the right amount of choice for us. I enjoyed the Handel playing in the background too. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and will choose the Cherbourg route next time we visit France so that we can.

Pros: Reasonably central and a personal approach. Very welcoming and helpful.
Cons: The road works outside but they were temporary and made it easier to park!
7,9 Good
Pros: Parking on the street near the hotel wasn't a problem but if it had been a lockable parking place was on offer. The owner was very friendly and recommended a very good fish restaurant in the centre of Cherbourg. The hotel had character. Good location, easy drive to the port to catch the early morning ferry.
Cons: Nothing really the hotel matched my expectations.

Pros: Hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance of some nice restaurants. There are also some markets and bakeries close by. The hotel is very quaint and homey. Breakfasts were generous: coffee, juice, pastries, bread, cheese, organic eggs and home-made yogurt. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. This was our favorite hotel during our trip to France.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is in a very convenient location for the town centre. I was in a room at the back and it was very quiet. The WiFi works very well - I had work to do and so I appreciated that. My room had a bath, and I also appreciated that. Both the bathroom and bedroom were pretty spacious and very clean. There was a kettle and some tea/coffee sachets in my room, as well as a hairdryer. I booked last minute but still got a promotional price. There is a lift. I arrived before the normal check-in time, but there was a room ready for me straight away. All staff were friendly. I have stayed here before in the past and thought it was good. Breakfast was an abundant, self-service buffet, which I thought was reasonable value for money.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like.

Pros: Always stay here, love it. Surrounded by restaurants all walking distance comfy rooms, good breakfast, garage for bikes or cars, all good!

5,4 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was value for money.
Cons: There was no facilities to make a hot drink unless you paid to have breakfast. No tea or coffee in room. Mattress was well used that you rolled into the middle.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good wardrobe and cupboard space
Cons: No kettle and cup for early leavers. No hairdrier for drying wet garments ( biker ). Had a microwave but no plates(?) One of the 2 beds was. broken/ very wobbly and may collaps during the night. Bathroom stunk of sewage/ drains! Both last 2 items must have been known by cleaning staff, then either not reported,, or hotel did not want to fix. Unaceptable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient for the ferry. Good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: The lady on reception would win no awards for customer service. Very surly and abrupt. No food available within 1 mile. Even the restaurant next door shuts on Saturday nights. The room was shabby, very uncomfortable bed, tatty furniture, but most of all, it was as hot as a sauna with no fan or AC. If you open the window to get some respite, the traffic noise is constant all night. Extremely dangerous stairwells. Very dark paint and some of the automatic lights not working.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Got nothing good to say about hotel
Cons: All of it too far to centre no restaurant near by or bar room bedside shelf filthy
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, quiet and the lady in reception was very helpful but not too strong on her English.
Cons: No tea or coffee making facilty in the room and my wife's bedside light did not work.
7,9 Good
Pros: Receptionist was kind enough to come and let us in when we called for assistance -
Cons: the booking information from booking.com did not mention reception was only manned at certain times and there was no access to the hotel outside those times! If we had known we could have timed our arrival to avoid waiting outside the hotel for it to open at 530pm
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Was nice, convenient, friendly staff.
Cons: The wifi was very poor..shows a full signal on phone, but no real connection.
