San Clemente Car Hire

Cons: The drop off was hated because I bought a full tank of gas when I had already paid for a full tank which I never do. Never have I bought gas ahead of time either because of this type of rip off that can happen. This was no exception no refund a voucher was offered. I needed the refund when I turned in the car. Probably will not use HERTZ again so what to do with a voucher. Additionally, She said i was 20 minutes late turning in the car but would allow it this time. Who could find the Hertz desk it was inside the airport..Hard for me to find attitude of counter person could use polishing

Cons: This location is hidden in the back of a shopping center and very hard to find. When I showed up they told me they did not have the car or class of car that I had reserved. They gave me a small SUV instead of a midsize. Whatever, but I wanted the lower gas mileage. When I returned the vehicle, they charged me an extra $28 for being 14 minutes 'late' ($2/minute is a bit ridiculous). This was after one of their employees had told me by phone that it would not matter if I picked up or dropped off the vehicle a little bit late or a little bit early. I would look around to avoid picking up at this location again.

Cons: Nothing.

Cons: I reserved an economy car for a long drive but they had no economy cars. I was given a Dodge Charger. They offered a gas credit which I never got. Employees did not know how to add my Plenti Rewards number to my reservation and made no attempt to call support to figure it out. The Dodge Charger was dirty and I had to wait for them to clean it, putting me behind schedule.

Cons: We just rented the car for 1 day and dropped off At a location. I think the drop off cost was high
