Macclesfield car hire

A compact economy vehicle is ideally suited to the narrow streets of Macclesfield. If you’re planning on heading into the Peak District, a 4x4 is perhaps a better option due to large hills and potentially rough terrain depending on how off the beaten track you go. For those in town on business in Manchester, a saloon offers comfort on long motorway journeys.

The general speed limit in Macclesfield town centre is 30mph, although do expect some of the smaller roads to be 20mph. Outer roads can fluctuate between 40-50mph, so watch out for signs and cameras, particularly when coming into small villages. Motorways like the nearby M56 and M60 Manchester ring road have a limit of 70mph, unless otherwise stated.

There are lots of car parks in the centre of Macclesfield, making it easy to find a space most of the time. Pickford Street is a great place to park up for the day. It’s close to everything and costs just about £1.20 for 2h. Otherwise, the Christ Church and Commercial Road car parks are other good options with around £0.60/£0.70 per hour rates.
