The Dollar rental counter has been consolidated with Hertz, but the rental experience was smooth. I didn't have to spend long with the representative and picked out a car quickly. Drop-off was straightforward and hassle-free.

The Dollar counter was closed. A sign directed Dollar patrons to the Hertz counter. It appears that Hertz is handling Dollar reservations in Hanover. Only a momentary bit of confusion, seeing the Dollar station in darkness, but the agent at Hertz had Dollar's reservation information in her computer and handled everything efficiently. The return procedure was also quick and easy, also done by Hertz.

Arrived at 10:15 am. No cars were ready and I was told I had to wait at least an hour and a half for the next car. We’d flown in to attend a funeral that day and I didn’t have that kind of time. Canceled reservation and took Uber instead.

The vehicle took over an hour to be ready for our use. We had to use a pickup truck instead of the Suburban we selected because there was no inventory.

Upon receiving the vehicle, I didn't realized the SUV was not cleaned (inside or outside) due to the dark parking facility. My trip was taking my daughter to college and was on a tight schedule. I took the car through the carwash & clean/ vacuum the interior of car. The SUV has several dents/ nicks on the exterior of car - no attendant was present to perform the initial car inspection prior to release of car. And last, interior carpet was pulled up at the seams. Upon returning the car, no attendants were present for proper car inspection & given receipt. The vehicle was not ready for customer usage, however, it allowed me to get my child to college.

Doller was closed and got sent to thrifty. Only one person was working at thrifty for about 20 customers. Finally after about 45 minutes they got another employee to help but still was moving about 1 customer every 15 minutes. Then Hertz started signing people in for them but then after signing in for the vehicle, everyone had to wait another 20 minutes for them to bring the vehicle to you. Hertz was the only thing that saved them that day.

The car was fine and the employees were helpful, but the decision to only have one person working the combined two counters (all Dollar renters had to go to the Thrifty counter) was ridiculous. It took me over 3 hours from the time I got in line until the time I finally got in my rental car. There were only 12 other parties ahead of me in line when I got there, but they only had one employee working the counter and each rental took 15+ minutes to get sorted even though it was only for people with pre-booked reservations because they didn't have any extra cars for people without reservations (one couple took over an hour). By the time I got my car, there must have been 50+ people in line. No other rental agency in the building had more than a handful of people in line at any given time and all had multiple employees working the counters (I arrived with a family member renting from another agency, and it only took them half an hour to get their car). I obviously don't know what the situation was with staffing, but to have two services using one counter, and only having one employee working during the middle of the day on a weekend was ridiculous. I can only imagine how long some of those other people had to stand in line who were behind me when the line was 2-3X as long as it was when I arrived and I had to wait 3 hours to get into my rental.

The car wasn’t very clean, it had a bit of a smell and the windows had greasy spots on them. All three cars in the zone I was eligible for were the same.
