The attendant at Burlington knew I was dropping off the vehicle in Paramus NJ, but tried to give me an EV with very little range, which would not have made the trip. I got her to give me a different vehicle, but she gave me a Mustang with rear wheel drive and not great tires. Unfortunately it snowed the that night and I almost could not make it out of Burlington because the roads were not plowed. Luckily it did not snow further south and I was able to make the trip. Rear wheel drive in Vermont in the Winter is never a good idea. Had I known it was so bad in the snow, I probably would have requested a different vehicle. Luckily I am a very experienced driver and was able adapt and navigate the slick roads without incident. However, the person at the drop off in NJ was great. He was very understanding and helpful. Great employee.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. The wait was over two hours. The line was infinite. Thankfully my two year old behaved and patiently waited. Nevertheless, everyone in line was extremely upset. The car was dirty and full of garbage. I will never rent with Budget again. Kind regards, Peter Ventre

I had to wait 2 hours for my rental car because they had none. Even though a reservation means you reserve the car and it’s there at the slotted time. I felt bad for the people running the counter because they were being yelled at by many others. But I quickly lost sympathy when they finally had a car, rushed Nd manipulated me with the insurance and gave me a Canadian car that had a KM dash. Never again.

Pick up in Burlington was great—quick and easy, friendly and helpful staff. Drop off in DC at Union Station was horrible—drove around for an hour trying to find the return location, signs were either nonexistent or just plain wrong, and later got charged for fuel because the gas tank wasn’t full due to the extra hour of driving, even though staff at the drop-off location said they would waive the charges. Even at the drop-off location, almost no staff and signs, some employee had to waive me down and told me to park in a random spot to return the car rather than a proper return lane. No way to protest charges except to fill out a random feedback form.

First of all, there were no Dollar agents at the rental service and the service was handled through Hertz. Returned the rental car one day early and they stated that there would be no refund since the transaction was made through Kayak. Extremely poor customer service.

I was charged extra fees at pick-up that I was NOT made aware of. I would have never rented from here if I knew I would end up paying DOUBLE the offered amount. The woman who tried to explain on customer service was rude. The car smelled like cigarette smoke.

I reserved an intermediate SUV. Got email confirmation from kayak. Went to Hertz and they had reserved for me a small EV. Not big enough to fit my family. They told me if i wanted a bigger car i would have to pay more. They had no record of me requesting an intermediate SUV. They told me that I would have to talk to Kayak to get a refund. They told me they are unable to process refunds and that kayak is responsible for that. I am not sure that is true. I called hertz national customer service and they said they would refund but didnt give me a specific confirmation number. We ended up not getting the car. I still dont know if we are getting a refund

It was great on the Burlington, VT end. The worst at the New Bern, NC end

Cons:

Got to New Bern, NC to return the car and no attendant could be found. Waited almost an hour and no one showed at the counter nor did they answer phone when I tried that. Left key and car. Receipt emailed me charged different rates than quoted thru Hertz on paperwork when car picked up. Tried calling Hertz and couldn’t get a person. Will call Credit card company to negate charges.

I noticed at pick up that the wheel cover was missing. I took a pic as suggested by the attendant, if I found any issues with it. When I arrived at my destination, I was asked if I had a flat tire along the way. I told him no that the wheel cover was missing when I picked it up. He told me that I was driving with a donut. I was shocked as it didn't appear smaller than the other tires and I had driven for 4 hours and 260 miles at top speeds of 75 mph. I have no idea if there was another spare in the trunk, the flat tire, or nothing. Fortunately nothing happened, but could have been ugly and never should have been rented out in that condition.

Staff very friendly, pick up easy, convenient location, no line.

Cons:

Car was a bit dirtier than I had expected, coffee stains on ceiling that I didn't notice until later. Nobody in garage during pickup or dropoff, but as long as they don't charge me for someone else's mess, I'm ok with that.

This has nothing to do with the rental company, just the location... the airport has limited access, only one door is unlocked to enter, just made for a lot of extra walking

We reserved a van from the airport but was able to pick up right at the local Williston Road Enterprise for the same price. This location was easier for us as we were able to leave our smaller car there while away. Great price! I called this location a couple of times and employees were helpful.

Cons:

With terrible snowy weather forecasted, it would have been helpful to have had the option to get a car with snow tires. The car did fine but some conditions were very slippery.

The woman at the counter spoke very good English.

Cons:

You must drive into a garage where there is only a small sign posted, that applies to all car rental companies, which you must stop and read, and it is on a curve where cars are blindly coming around and you must stop, block traffic, and read the four steps of 1) parking the car in the appropriate area, 2) cleaning it out, 3) writing down the mileage and 4) locking it, noting the number of your space, and returning the keys to the rental counter. What it doesn't say is 1) your parking space is far away 2) the rental counter is across the street in the main terminal downstairs on the other end 3) the escalators don't work and 4) have fun waiting in line to turn in all this information you are supposed to provide.

For older and physically impaired users, better description of the size, leg room, comfort and entry and exits are needed. We may not know the car name and type. To us mid-sized means a roomy sedan not a compact car. Our expectations include an odometer, easy adjustment of the steering wheel and seats. This car was like driving a roller skate. We hit our heads getting in the car, banged our knees on the dashboard and I struggled to get out of the car. Also, personnel need to offer to show the car features and explain them. We didn’t know how to remove the ignition key!

Thrifty seems willing to refund me the insurance if I send them proof of payment.

Cons:

I had already purchased insurance through carrentals.com and then was billed for it again on the rental. I asked for snowtires and was told they didn't have any. They driving at this time was very treacherous without snow tires.

The staff were all extremely friendly, the shuttle was prompt and the car was exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price.

Cons:

My only suggestion would be to be more clear on how to reach the business from the airport. I had to go to another business' rental counter to ask so they could call the shuttle for me. The shuttle arrived quickly after that.
