Pros: We live only 40 miles away and always visit Carmel for my birthday. This is our 2nd year in a row here (they just opened last year). The room is very comfortable and so quiet. There is parking. Love the included afternoon wine and snacks, and the morning breakfast. Location is ideal for Carmel. We will be back!

Pros: We really liked the coziness of the room, especially the little fireplace. The breakfasts were good but we especially enjoyed the 4:00. - 6:00 happy Hour where we shared wine and snacks with other couples from Sweden, Germany, and the States, sitting around a fire outside. Lovely!

Cons: Paid LOTS of money for a room with a king size bed. This place is NOISY. The sound of people flushing their toilets or running their showers is incredible. The banged up used furniture in our room needs replacing. Knobs were missing from the end tables and chest. The upholstery on the two chairs were pathetic.
We parked on the street because this hotel does not have enough parking spaces to accommodate guests.
WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

Pros: Beautiful rooms! The bed and sheets were amazing and the room was immaculate. The soaps and shampoos were very high quality. This hotel is in a very peaceful street. I slept like a baby. The fireplace was lovely too. At night, the courtyard is lit up with little torches so it's quite pretty. Theresa, the manager, was incredibly kind and helpful.

Cons: While we thought we rec'd a decent deal at $360 for a single night for a deluxe king room, a day before our trip i noticed a similar king room for $100 less. Figuring i would just get a better room with a view, i was disappointed to learn that the room had no view and just a gas fireplace. I mentioned the discrepancy in the rates, but they only suggested that we should have booked directly instead and called in first to verify the rates and the available rooms.

Cons: Our room was right next to the stairs and you could hear people going up and down the stairs. It was quite loud. We could also hear the party above us as they walked across the room. The person seemed very heavy footed. Not sure if this was the case or if walking above just makes a lot of noise.

Bathrooms are fine if not huge. Everything is very clean. Tasty breakfast options included in room rate including the option of in-room or courtyard dining...we did the latter one morning. Location is <1 block from Ocean Avenue, the main street in Carmel-By-The-Sea, so uber convenient. No onsite parking, but they will move your car around the streets to avoid a parking ticket...not ideal but this is downtown Carmel.

Cons: Their premier ocean view rooms looked like a holiday In or 3 star hotel at the best. Very poor design and ambiance. Bad holiday in furniture , plastic trees and plants. I expected more for $500 per night, at least rooms that looked better. Also, rooms have no balconeys and hotel does not have a jacuzzi. It is possible that the hotel is offering value for the budget traveller (hard to imagine at over $500 per night). I did notice that better hotels where 30% more expensive when I was in Carmel. I would have preferred to pay about 30% more for better accomadations.

Cons: Very noisy! Don’t underestimate the other reviews. They’ve got an old steam-based heating system that has a ton of air in it. As a result, you will get woken up all throughout the night to loud banging noise, like someone is taking a hammer to a steal pipe. The sound is coming out of the heater in the room. Do not choose this hotel if you want a good nights sleep.
Also very dated rooms. The quality of the room is about what you’d expect from a Travelodge, it does not in any way live up to the $400+ price tag.

Cons: Our only complaint is the bathroom - the shower had no pressure of any kind and we couldn’t get it to turn off all the way so it would drip. The lights in the bathroom had a sensor so if you used the restroom in the night, you wake the rest of the family up without question.

Pros: We were spending the week exploring Carmel and this was a very convenient and clean-looking hotel. We'd read some reviews about the missing cheese hour, etc. and scoffed at people being weird about their missing amenities; generally if a place is clean and pleasant, I don't think there is much else to comment on. But I have to say, it was a sore disappointment that we booked two King rooms for two couples (a deluxe and suite) and in the early, cold November morning, I reached for the bathrobe I'd read so much about (it was constantly in the advertising for the King suites that there are these great thick robes) and saw...there was none. In either King room. So I'm listing the amenities as OK because honestly, it was really chilly in our room and I think that when you book deluxe king suites, they should come with bathrobes if that is advertised everywhere and it's quite chilly. I got ready that morning in my husbands sweater and we left the next day.

Like I said, were pleasantly surprised and will be back!

I love dogs, but like, that needs to be stated upfront - and the rooms better never smell like other guests pets. Also, the guest next door left their poor pup alone in the room and the dog would not stop hauling (at 7:30am! On a Saturday) - I know that's not really on the hotel, but maybe tell guests to not leave dogs unattended in their room? Oh and again, also be VERY upfront about how pet friendly you're hotel is so that all guests are aware before booking.

Carpet is torn and old and needs replacing and the shower is very tight like a phone booth.

We live in the 21st century where technology and science are at its peak. The host or person who worked in the front (Gita) was not apologetic, nor were we informed about the situation. Pros: It was really nice! I liked that it was single cottages, so you didn’t have any noise from the neighbors. Also the floors were wood so if you brought your pet you didn’t have to worry much about accidents. Fortunately we didn’t have any. The staff was very friendly.

Pros: This is the second time we have stayed here. We love that the Inn is pet friendly. We had a queen room this time and it was a good size. The rates were great so we took a quick trip to Carmel to enjoy the perfect weather. Love the beach. We have also found the perfect beach near the Inn. The Inn is not to far from grocery store so we can get food and snacks.

Cons: We rented a second room when we arrived. The Television in our room did not work. They attempted to fix it and could not. The second room, the toilet would not flush properly and the shower did not drain. It was a poor experience.

Multiple thermostats, NONE operational. Shower broken and must be run with tub on full and not draining to get enough water through the shower. Black bugs. Staff was unhelpful and downright shady. For $400 a night my expectations were higher than a sleazy motel.

The bathroom sink was coming off the wall and needs new caulking. There are not enough outlets to plug in your phone to charge it at night. The carpet is old and I cannot tell if it is clean or dirty. The other furniture is old. The outside of the Inn needs a fresh coat of paint. I will stop there.
