Pros:They charged me the wrong price (over $600 more). They told me they'd fix this but still have not. The display was broken (kept restarting), including the backup camera, which is a safety issue. And then the battery died. They couldn't get a towing truck there for 4 hours. And refused to book me a Lyft to the airport. I had to pay out of pocket, and we'll see if they refund me that price, or if I have to do it through my credit card company. Literally went wrong every step of the way, and they handled it terribly every step of the way.Cons:EverythingReviewed Apr 20 2021

Poorly marked and no serviceCons:The customer is asked to drive the car down five levels to an unattended area in a underground garage. There is tiny sign (not visable from the car) giving vague instruction of what to do. We just happened to bump into an attendant as we were trying to find our way back up to the desk. Snarky cashier then mentions that I'm a little late (well within a 24 hour period) returning the car. NEVER AGAIN. They are not competitive in price and it's one of the WORST RENTAL SERVICES I HAVE ENCOUNTERED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.Reviewed Nov 19 2016

Pros:The car itself was fine, I had no problems with it.Cons:I had been isolating for two weeks before traveling to see my father, who's over 65 and has asthma. I had called to learn about the rental process in advance, and was told I'd only have to come inside the office to sign the paperwork, so I thought that was safe. My rental was at 7am, so I'd be one of the first people in the office in the morning. However, when I arrived, there was someone else in the office (I'm not sure if it was someone who had just returned a car, or maybe a manager or someone working in the hotel) having a long and very loud chat with the rental agent, both unmasked, for at least 10 minutes. The rental office is very small and didn't look like it had any air circulation, so I decided that I would hold the door open when I went in, because being in a small, enclosed space where someone else had been laughing and talking loudly, unmasked, for the previous 10-15 minutes, did not feel very safe to me. However, the rental agent asked me not to hold the door open; after I explained my concern, he said I could wait outside the office while he took care of the paperwork, which I was grateful for. However, when he called me inside again to give back my driver's license, he started telling me about how I shouldn't be worried about covid, and kept telling me that for the next 5 minutes as he finished processing the rental. I ended up being inside that office with the door closed for about 5 minutes - not a lot of time, but it didn't feel safe to me given the long and loud unmasked conversation I had just witnessed, and how the agent kept telling me not to be worried about covid. I now have to wait to get tested and potentially isolate from my family, because we aren't comfortable with the risk of exposure from that interaction. I understand not being worried about covid oneself, but I'm frustrated by that rental agent's lack of regard for my boundaries and concerns.Reviewed Dec 29 2020

Pros:The car was very nice.Cons:We arrived at 11:15 am to pick up my rental, which was booked for noon. Without saying anything, the representative printed out the contract for me to sign, which showed $392 as the price. The price I booked was $215 for a 24-hour rental. I asked why it was so much, and she said "You're early, so you went over the 24 hours." This is ridiculous, as I hadn't done anything yet. I said I would have happily waited until noon--just 45 minutes--to take the car had she notified me that it would cost an additional $150 for an extra hour of the rental. She actually didn't speak at all while she was processing the rental. We just stood there waiting for her to tell us what to do. Terrible customer service. She did, finally, tell us that if we arrived the following day by 11:16 am then we would not be charged. We arrived at 10:30 to be safe, and were assured that we would not incur additional hourly charges.Reviewed Jun 8 2016

Pros:Clean & reliable car, easy drop-off process.Cons:A long line at opening, makes sense. The issue is not with the employees being slow, it is the many hoops they have to jump through to take care of one customer. So much data entering, paper to print and staple, etc etc. We got at the branch at 705am and were sitting in our car at 745am. Maybe have the customer pre-enter most of the data themselves in advance?Reviewed Jul 13 2020

AwfulPros:Nothing.Cons:1. The garage is fairly complex and the office is located in different floors from where you actually return the car. You will waste time navigating through the garage. 2. The rental office is under hired. There is only 1 clerk working there to help many customers at the same time. That particular clerk was arguing with a customer because he prepared a damaged car for his customer to pick up. He is also giving a great deal of damn to a British customer preventing him from renting a car. All the delays by this clerk added to my actual rental time and made me returned the car late for approximately 30 mins, which is over charged 1 day worth of rental fees.Reviewed Aug 31 2017

Pros:Staff was cordial, car was clean.Cons:I had to wait 90 minutes for a car to arrive despite having a reservation. I understand that when demand is high cars are hard to come by, but is it not possible to alert/text people with reservations to this so they don't show up on time and then have to stand in the cold for indefinite periods of time? Given the pandemic, many nearby businesses are closed and it may be uncomfortable/dangerous to wait inside a nearby coffeeshop or store. I also found drop off extremely confusing - the Budget entrance at BWI was closed, and the sign directing cars to AVIS on a piece of computer paper was only visible/ readable if you got out of the car and walked up to it.Reviewed Dec 14 2020
