Pros: Loved the young lady who checked me in. What a warm, kind, welcome she gave. Check--in took just a few minutes. Comfortable place, good, location. The fireplace and holiday decorations made everything inviting and festive. My room was great. Had a nice stay and will return. is there no water or information about where to get water at the hotel??

Pros: For a free breakfast, that was one of the best I have ever had; the staff was super friendly and the property in general was above and beyond what I would expect for a Bishop roadside hotel. Plus, the cherry on top: a shower with quick hot water and strong water pressure, I was floored. I have been traveling quite a lot recently and weak lukewarm showers have become my norm, but not here.

Cons: Breakfast should have something new daily because we have 2 breakfast and iit is basically the same. SO if we stayed 4 nights, we will have the same thing everyday- not good. Need upgrade. Room was ok except that it smells stuffy when we get in initially. I guess the carpet need to be cleaned better and aerate the room before check in or simply use nice smelling disinfectant in the bathroom so it does not smell stuffy. Not welcoming after a 6 hour tiring drive.

The hotel cleaning staff all came in to the breakfast room at about 10 am to eat up all the leftovers, so we had a gaggle of 6 women, all speaking Spanish at the top of their lungs while we tried to enjoy the rest of our time for breakfast. They had no concerns that we were paying guests and they should try be quiet and polite.

Cons: One of the rooms two we had booked was not cleaned, and the bed was not made. It was disgusting to come into a room after a tiring day to find someone had been sleeping in one of the beds!!! The receptionist was horrified to find the condition of the room, but as she was alone, could not clean it and make it up for us. So after a lot of confusion , we were moved to the last remaining room open in the hotel. NOT a good experience!

The common area was pleasant, wi-fi good, and there were some available complimentary beverages available all hours. It’s right on the Main Street that runs through Bishop and just a block down from the famous, historic and yummy Schat’s Bakery. There’s an off-leash dog park (open during daylight hours) very nearby and a small city park across the street. I liked how quiet it was inside... They were pretty booked up, but I don’t recall hearing other hotel guests or anything through walls.

An accessible room doorway should be at least 36 inches wide. We were going to stay 2 nights, but the room was so small and cramped, we left early.

Cons: There’s no elevator. That was mentioned in one supplemental section of the listing that we somehow missed, but it should be made more obvious in the listing since an elevator is to be expected in a 3 star hotel. Traveling home after Christmas with 3 people, 2 dogs and two fully-packed vehicles vulnerable to break-in (we felt, after experiencing a car break-in during past travels), with the parking lot at this hotel backing up to dark areas and a bowling alley/bar took us many trips up the stairs and about 45 minutes. If you need to be on the ground floor, be sure to pre-arrange that. The hot water wasn’t working (while in the lobby the evening before, I heard others commenting about it and saw some guests moved because of it as well). Hopefully that’s unusual, and other than being unable to get anything but a fast, cold shower I would rate it as a very comfortable hotel. Be careful of the wording in their description “...with casino and garden in Bishop.” It means those things are available in Bishop, not part of the hotel. We didn’t care about the casino but with it being dog-friendly, kinda expected and hoped for a well-lit, safe area to take our dogs out, so “garden” appealed to us. It was dark when we arrived, and the (friendly and trying-to-be-helpful) staff told us about an alley with a strip of grass behind the hotel that we could take our dogs to. We made do with that and didn’t realize until the next day just how nasty it was with bar litter and poop left by those who don’t clean up after their dogs. Seeing the park across the street the next morning (only open dawn to dusk) was a welcome sight. All Ascend hotels are not alike or even close to it. We had stayed at another a week earlier that felt much more like a hotel than motel, and it had a clean, well-lit parking lot, obvious areas to take your dogs out, plenty of hot water for showers... and elevators! I’ve worked in the travel industry and traveled a lot.

Cons: I am a physcian with asthma. I told them I could not at their facility as I couldn't breath. I had only walked in the room nothing was touched and yet they refused to refund my money. We went next door to a beautiful creek side facility.

Cons: Both of the front desk staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming...we were given a lot of attitude at check in. The room I booked was the "quadruple queen with disability access", but we came to find out that it was a top floor room, and they dont have elevators, so how can that be "disability accessible"? We had to be moved to a different room on the bottom floor, and that room was much smaller than the one we had originally booked which was very disappointing since we have 2 children with us. And we were still charged the same amount as the larger room!

Cons: This is an older, cheaply built hotel. Our room was on the 1st floor, even though we requested 2nd floor. It was incredibly noisy and very small! Noise came from both above us and rooms beside us. When the bathrooms above were used, we heard it all. We were able to sleep after people above went to bed and in between when they left in the morning and the maids started cleaning. Water backed up in the tub 2 inches when I took a shower. The carpet in our room was filthy!!! Front desk says they are going to update with flooring in the future; should have done it way before now. Bathroom was so small that you had to close door to sit on the toilet. Heater in room was intermittent and loud, but did work. Parking area was very weird. All in all a terrible place to stay for almost $150 for the night.

Pros: Finally being switched into a room that smelled clean. Dogs are welcome at no extra cost. The rooms are large and do not have carpeting.
Cons: Our king room smelled of smoke .. even found a cigarette burn hole on the bedspread. I asked to switch rooms and were told that all King rooms were booked. In walking around I saw a lot of double queen rooms open so asked to switch. It took 3 tries and a call to the off-duty manager to switch into a truly non-smoking room without an up charge. I've never stayed in a "no frills" motel before. It's a step up from camping.... bring everything you want and need... including coffee.

Pros: Good location. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. There was a large group of young men, maybe a sports team, who consumed most of breakfast quite quickly. The kitchen staff replenished the food as fast as they could. Much appreciated.

Pros: big-ish rooms (for the star level), remodeled bathrooms, comfy beds, fridge and microwave, simple breakfast, location was off the main-strip (so it wasn't too noisy). Price was great!

Cons: The room was very dirty including the walls. Carpet was torn and tattered, especially by the bathroom. It appears this room was a pet friendly room as there were stains and it had an odor. Very disappointed. They need a major renovation/repaint job.

Cons: Breakfast was pretty mediocre. No breakfast room, it was being remodeled so we were all squished in a room that had been converted to serve as a food room. Only a few tables so some people had to leave.

Cons: Ice machine was broken on our floor. And our coffee cups were not replaced the second night we stayed. Also breakfast started at 7:00 instead of 6:00 which changed our departure time by an hour.

Cons: Slow to non-existent Wi-Fi. I was staying in the middle room of the hotel and had virtually no Wi-Fi inside the room. Outside the door and in the parking lot was fine, but not in the room. Even my hotspot was slow. If you want to unplug, stay here!!

Cons: Nothing worked. The internet, tv remote, wall sockets, door, bed frame we’re all in disrepair or broken. There were cracks in the wall, grime in the outlets, it was disgusting. I do not recommend this place.

Cons: Even though it was inexpensive the room was disgusting regardless of price. The bedding has stains and rips all over it. TV, ac, shower were barely functional. Even the unused toilet paper was disgusting never thought I'd experience that.
