Pros: A very comfortable, modern boutique hotel with a cozy feel, it felt like home! It’s located very close to Vondelpark, in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Amsterdam. Arriving back at the hotel in the evening after a long day and being welcomed by the smiling chef and the smell of the fresh dishes he was cooking was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The staff was amazing, I was very well taken care of during the entire stay, it was hard to leave!

Pros: Cannot say enough about how great our stay was here! We extended our stay by a day we loved it so much. The prices were very reasonable. They checked us in 2 hrs early with zero hassle. All of the room supplies were included. While not exceedingly spacious, everything about the room and hotel oozed modern style. There was interesting literature on the shelves. The beds were clean and comfortable. In the lobby was a hip restaurant with delicious and affordable faire which we frequented almost every day, and at night became a popular bar until 1 am. There were many other places to eat, shop, or stroll past from the Hoxton's central location, but it was far enough removed from the main tourist areas to feel somewhat local. I would recommend this place to anyone except maybe those traveling with children, as I believe they had to "cheat" to fit us into a single room, and we are smaller than your average humans as it was.

Pros: We loved the cool vibe of the hotel. As soon as you walk through the door you hear the music, you're faced with the DJ's set and a really cool and busy bar / lounge scene, it's so inviting. The staff are pretty cool too: so helpful, professional but informal, lovely. Special mention to the fantastic Carlos and Leandro on reception who provided great advice and recommendations for restaurants and walks, directions and transport - thanks for being brilliant and enhancing our holiday. Great idea to not rip-off their customers by giving you the option to stock up your minibar with supermarket priced goods from the display at reception! For instance 1/2 bottle of cava 6 euro. The beds are unbelievably comfy and the rooms are huge. Very hip décor. Great shower. Great location. Great canal views. Great atmosphere in the unbelievably cool and popular bar/lounge area.

Cons: My single room was tiny. It was impossible to see the television from the bed. In the evening, the lobby turned into a very crowded and noisy nightlife venue. Because of the crowd, it was difficult to get in and out of the hotel. Would never stay here again.

Cons: Not nearly enough space to stand at the bathroom sink, your bare bum hits the cold glass shower wall as you lean over the sink to brush your teeth (room 102). Much as we loved the beautifully designed wooden flooring, the experience of being rudely awakened to the noise of footsteps and suitcases being dragged across it from the room upstairs was not great.

Cons: Empty water bottles were not taken away despite us requesting it to be removed from our room. Walls were thin so we can here some yelling from another room while we were trying to sleep. We had to call front desk about it because baby might wake up. They were apologetic and promised to check up on it immediately.

The front desks staff were great, especially Katarina who couldn’t do enough to make our stay more pleasant. Our first night there we asked the bartender for a specific restaurant recommendation and he not only gave us one but call the place and got us a reservation then made sure we knew how to get there (bonus the place he recommended was excellent!) and he followed up with us when he saw us again. The staff was able to give us great information and help us navigate the public transit system. The bed was really comfortable and the room well designed. The bathroom amenities were great and the atmosphere very European which we loved. Its right by the Food hallen which was nice when we wanted a quick bit to eat. The rain shower was nice after a long day of walking around. Overall we had a really good experience

The bathroom amenities were great and the atmosphere very European which we loved. Its right by the Food hallen which was nice when we wanted a quick bit to eat. The rain shower was nice after a long day of walking around. Overall we had a really good experience

Cons: Apart from the chaos of not finding the payment I made to booking.com upon check in and through out my stay I received a letter to contact reception regarding my reservation as they couldnt allocate the payment. The new building had a very uncomfortable bed, im still having a back pain its like the bed is made out of plastic it was squeeky and you can hear the springs. With very tiny pillows. I couldnt open the curtains as the shops from the high Street was right infront of us and the noises ofcourse from the road as I stayedon floor 1. I dont recommend this whole new Building, I had a much better experience with the old one.

Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

The location was perfect for seeing the museums; it’s located on a quiet residential street and museums are a quick Uber or leisurely walk from the hotel. The facilities themselves were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, and the jetted spa bath tub was a very nice touch! Breakfast in the morning was worth it - if you’re staying at this hotel, just pay the 20 euro for breakfast (and all you can drink coffee). They also had a honesty bar, which is a self serve bar and you (honestly) fill out a slip with how much wine, beer, etc. you had and give it to reception. Reception booked us tickets to the Museum of Bags and Purses, which was also very nice, and held our bags since they couldn’t accommodate an early check in. We stayed at 3 hotels in NL, and this one was by far our favorite.

Cons: We had a basement room, which didn’t bother us (there’s an elevator) except that you could hear people outside. As it’s located on a quiet street, it wasn’t a problem but I do recommend that the hotel provide a white noise machine to cover this sound.

Cons: The room was dirty. The filth under the bed had obviously been there for quite some time. There were no cups, glasses, tea or milk in the room & had to be requested. After our first night the room was not properly cleaned again. We had to request more tea cups, and glasses again as the ones we’d asked for the day before were left in the room dirty & not replaced. We payed €295 each for a three hour spa session at the hotel. Although the treatments themselves were good, the “spa” consisted of a cramped room within the gym with no heating or music & during our expensive massage we had to listen to people running on the machines in the gym right outside the door. It was not the relaxing experience we were expecting.

Pros: The check-in and our process were efficiency. Location is quiet and it takes around 25 mins to arrive city center by bus. The housekeeper was very friendly and turndown service has been served everyday. It is nice to back room with night atmosphere. Over all everything is worth its value!

Cons: Our room wasn't ready when we arrived and there was no offer of a complimentary drink while we waited in the bar. The room was a little spartan, with furniture that reminded me of student accommodation, with a disappointing view. There were no plug sockets near the bed for our phones and the only tea was Earl Grey or herbal, with no milk.

There was a mini fridge in the room but it was secured as it contained minibar items.I didn't open it for fear I'd be charged for items. Furthermore, I wasn't sure there was any space inside for non-minibar items. I also never received a facecloth during my stay.

Cons: We had two beds and they were touching which was kind of weird. The ability to use the fridge without breaking a seal would be nice too. We also couldn't figure out how to turn off one of the lamps without unplugging it.

The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! We kept drinking our mini wines in the double bath tub every night. Great location, across the canal from central station. A great choice for our honeymoon stay.

Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

We couldn't open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Cons: The cleaners were quite lazy and didn’t clean rooms properly once we were in the room. Dirty towels left, beds not made properly and items were moved and not placed back where they were found. I don’t expect them to clean up our own belongings but they’re supposed to tidy up the room which was done poorly.
