Cons: Only criticism is that menu was slightly restricted if staying several nights
6,3 Good
Pros: Located in a beautiful area with a nice view from the restaurant and from the pool. Pool area was relaxing. Good amount of parking places. Breakfast was also nice with good variety and service.
Cons: Receptionist at check-in seemed like he couldn't care less and we did not feel welcome. Same attitude carried over to dinner where the service was mostly poor. However, there was one guy how at least tried to give a good service when others clearly wanted to be somewhere else. Overall the place has seen better days and is long overdue a renovation. Place is overpriced at its current condition and service.

Pros: The hotel was easy to find, just outside Alba, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. We parked underground in their car park. Our bedroom was large and comfortable and very clean, the bathrooom spacious and we had a lovely hot shower. Although you’re on a busy road, the room was quiet and we had a peaceful view of the neighbours vegetable plot. You do need transport as there doesn’t seem to be much in walking distance, and our hosts suggested we try casa scapone for dinner - an agriturisme serving local organic food, just a few minutes drive away. I can thoroughly recommend. We drive through Italy a couple of times a year, and I know we will be back to the hotel, it’s a great find.

7,9 Good
Pros: The location was amazing - great views over Barolo, and a great place from which to watch a thunderstorm. The beds were comfortable, although the rooms were 'compact', as was the shower - to be expected in an old building. The restaurant serves good but quite pricey food, and although there is a terrace, it's very enclosed.
Cons: The breakfast was somewhat dull, and the coffee fairly grim coming from a machine (no excuse for that in Italy). The pool, while lovely, had loads of wasps around it which was very off-putting, whether one was getting into/out of the pool or on a sun-lounger. The area around the pool is small - trying when there are over-exuberant children being ignored by their parents.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The pkace is just amazing
Cons: Wifi is not working very well
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hilltop location in a lovely setting of numerous buildings and a centuries old tower! Fantastic meal in the on-site restaurant and the service was excellent as well! Room was comfortable with a spectacular view to the surrounding valley and hills!
Cons: Leaving!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The service was excellent: cordial, helpful, friendly, and multi-lingual. The setting and building just beautiful. Balconies facing out over the valley lovely. Dinner in the restaurant really excellent. Breakfast generous and varied.
Cons: Mattresses and pillows were a bit hard. We had a large van and the parking lot was very tight...there were other large vehicles there as well. Overnight my (rental) van was scraped by some other vehicle in the lot. Not the hotel's fault, but unfortunate. Be prepared for the switchback approach road!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The rest was great.
Cons: Quite unfriendly. Service was mediocre/unfriendly. The restaurant is closed on sunday and monday. Taxi to the next village Bra cost us 90 euro
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay in the hotel, a time with our parents... and we will be back for sure! The personnel is very nice and accommodating. The rooms are absolutely comfortable and wonderfully designed and clean. Lovely pool outside to really refresh (!) after a good warm visiting day in the area. If you get a chance, please do ask also to book a table at the restaurant. Their menu is wisely created, delicious, and the selection of wines is excellent. Another option is to get a booking in the local village small restaurant. Typical menu and locally hosted. Exactly what we were looking for.

Locanda Del Pilone - Alba - Building

Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
6,3 Good
Cons: The hotel failed to accommodate a late check in and we had to stay somewhere else for the night. Subsequently we were met with a dishonest and disdainful general manager who treated us with much contempt. We will never stay at this hotel again, and would strongly advise our friends against it.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location and the cuisine. Friendly and efficient staff members.
Cons: We stayed at the suite and find the air conditioner blowing to the right side of the bed making the person sleeping on that side very uncomfortable. The air conditioning needed to be used as the weather was hot and Very windy. Windows needed to be closed.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing! On the hills with beautiful views in the vineyard and a country chic feel. It’s quiet and only 10 min from Alba which is convenient.
Cons: The pool was tiny and looked a bit cheap. The breakfast was ok but the personnel was a bit rude at breakfast. Also they were not very organised when they suggested a truffle tour (the tour itself was very good) but gave us the information for it too late (20 min before the tour started we got the directions and it was a 40 min drive so we arrived late!) no directions whatsoever and no follow up. A bit weird for a 4 star hotel to have this level of service for excursions.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, staff are courteous. Had booked wine tasting well in advance as surprise for my husband and was disappointed when we were informed it was cancelled , we were given two glasses of wine for apero free of charge. As I was unable to eat my main course as the fish was awful the cost was removed from our account. The rooms are spacious and comfortable
Cons: Wine tasting booked in advance wasn't available. My fish dinner in my opinion was awful probably one of the worst fish meals I have ever eaten, not what i expected from Michelin star restaurant. Our second visit to this hotel , there will not be a third.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A totally relaxing stay in a superb location on a hilltop overlooking vineyards in deep valleys. The bedroom was large, traditional and comfortable: a refreshing change from modern standardised grey-and-beige minimalist hotel rooms. Excellent breakfast was served on the terrace. You can swim in the pool while taking in the view of the vineyards and the alps... Eat in the Michelin-starred restaurant or take a short trip down to Alba for a wide choice of restaurants and wine bars. The 'Pilone' is perfect for discovering the villages and vineyards between Bra and Asti.
Cons: For us, everything was just right.

4,2 Okay
Pros: The local food in the restaurant was excellent and the wine was excellent the price was v good and the staff v friendly.
Cons: The accommodation - rustic, rustic and rustic!!! The room was made up of everything you might find in a junk yard old doors, pipes, lights etc. It was pretty awful. 1 plug socket no tv, UBS points that don’t work. The bathroom had glass windows so you can see your partner on the toilet - no sound proofing - nowhere to hang towels etc. Glass missing from the toilet door. A herd of elephants above the room! The picture is clear beware what you reserve. It might be one if the worst rooms we’ve stayed in. The staff think it’s cool!!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Authentic
Cons: Mediocre food
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Casa Scaparone! The location is amazing, tucked away in the quiet Piedmont hills. The pool is great and surrounded by views of vineyards. We also had drinks and dinner in the restaurant, which we really enjoyed. The whole place feels very relaxing and quirky, which we loved, and the staff were really happy to have us. I would definitely recommend and would love to go back
Cons: A very small negative was that our bed was a bit squeaky, but this wasn’t a huge deal

Pros: Reception Staff very friendly. Location is amazing. Good breakfast.
Cons: I had completely different expectations looking at the pictures so I found it rather misleading. The room is very plain and little outdated. The bed was not comfortable. very firm mattress so my hip is actually sore until today... not happy about that.. The housekeeping Staff is WAY TOO LOUD! I had to be up very early anyway but if I was staying strictly for relaxation I wouldn't like staff shouting to each other across the corridor so early in the morning. The location is great.

7,9 Good
Pros: The location was amazing - great views over Barolo, and a great place from which to watch a thunderstorm.
