Pros: The environment the room and the experience
Cons: Everything was great!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was professional, informative and friendly. It was a nice treat to have snacks, cold water, soft drinks and juices available free daily in room. We availed ourselves of spa services. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous. I had an amazing hike to see the river and waterfall. Then enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I did some work in the morning on my patio with the most incredible views!
Cons: The ceiling fan worked fine but I prefer air conditioning
9,2 Excellent
Pros: From being greeted on arrival with a fresh fruut juice, to our last morning, the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had an amazing view over over the largest pool to the lights of San Jose below.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this resort was amazing!! The privacy, the colors and artwork throughout, the comfort of the beds... I loved that they thought about every little detail here. There were things to do on the property in case you got rained in (board games, a small library in your room, etc). The property has it own waterfalls (#5 is definitely worth seeing) and the hike was a great workout! The staff went above and beyond from the day we arrived to the day we left to make everything effect (they called cabs/Ubers for us, packaged breakfast when we let them know we were leaving extra early, etc). We loved the restaurant staff. They were always so happy to assist us. All of the food was amazing although pricey. The spa was AMAZING!!! Do spring for the herbal jacuzzi before a massage!
Cons: If you don’t like nature this may not be for you because it is in the midst of a small tropical forest. That means bugs are around. We did see ants on our bathroom vanity any time we sat lotion or anything up there but nothing else inside the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hike to the waterfalls was my favorite part.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Xandari ticks a lot of boxes, and excels on several levels. Stayed here for one night only, but wish it had been longer. The grounds and expanse of rainforest on your doorstep here are perhaps the most defining features of this relaxing resort and great care and attention has clearly been taken over the years to build up an impressive array of colourful plant life that will have you taking pictures in no time. The resort is spread out over a large area giving an amazing feeling of space and of being immersed in the rainforest. I really enjoyed walking the trails and exploring the numerous waterfalls, making this a great way to spend a few hours. The architecture is particular, and a point of interest in itself, but somehow it blends harmoniously with the surroundings. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped - I had a little kitchenette with a fridge containing complimentary soft drinks - and the views from all over the resort are stunning. Lots of options for cooling off in the hotels three pools (one of which is a cold water pool), but when I was there in the off season there was practically no one in any of them. The restaurant, with its spectacular view, is the perfect place to enjoy a few leisurely hours, as well as lunch or dinner. The food was of a high standard with a range of choice to keep everybody happy. I found everyone to be super friendly and helpful which creates a very welcoming atmosphere in the hotel. I would have no hesitation in staying at Xandari again, and given its proximity to the airport it makes the ideal stopping off hotel at either the beginning or end of a trip to Costa Rica.
Cons: Liked everything.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed several amenities at this property including the botanical gardens, hiking trails to waterfalls, and the pools and jacuzzis. The staff were welcoming and accommodated our need to check out early with breakfast boxes of fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, and homemade baked goods. The room was spacious, had a porch overlooking the jungle and nearby city, and had a kitchenette stocked with useful kitchenware and complimentary snacks.
Cons: We did not partake in the spa services as originally planned because of the expense compared to other options in Costa Rica. While the restaurant food was delicious, it was also very expensive which could be challenging if staying at the property for several days.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast bread was delicious! Jose and Zinnia were kind and helpful...when we found out dinner was not being served, Jose offered to bring roasted chicken to our room...above and beyond...
Cons: The refrigerator could have been turned on prior to arrival ... and the rotting mangoes in the parking could have been pushed aside ...made it a bit difficult to roll bags...
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The grounds are beautiful with all the plant life.
Cons: Barking dogs kept us up a bit through the night but other than that it was great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved Bernie, the dogs & the property in general
Cons: No one thing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality, food, and accommodations are exceptional. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer. The advice we were given was spot on and the dinner was fantastic. We were traveling with a teen and this is our 13th trip to Latin America. The balance between privacy and friendliness provided by the hosts was perfect. This is one of the few places I have ever bothered to leave written comments for, but it is a real gem and I want to spread the word.

7,9 Good
Pros: The view is remarkable!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely breathtaking views. By far the best place to stay when visiting the volcano. The couple that runs the lodge is amazing. Super friendly, very welcoming (thank you guys so much!!!) and the food they make is delicious!
Cons: They place has improved even more since the new owners took over.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Mathew and Leah's Lodge. The view from the rooms is just stunning. Breakfast is included and you should also try dinner in the evening. Leah will prepare some delicious meals for you. You will love the authentic fire place, it's cosy and warm while you can enjoy the magnificent view over the valley. The lodge is a perfect place to stay if you're going to visit the La Paz Waterfall Gardens and visit the Póas volcano. Mathew informs you on the visibility on top of the Póas crater. He can also arrange entrance tickets to the Volcano park (you need to book online in advanc!). We sure recommanded a stay at the lodge!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Matthew and Leah were lovely hosts, very welcoming. Leah is a great cook as well. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent, try the Costa Rican dishes. Amazing views and really close to the volcano.
Cons: Nothing.
7,9 Good
Pros: Poas Lodge is a cozy place, practically furnished and clean. Very hospitable "GrazyGringos" Matthew & Leah, the Texan Hambuger diner we can only recommend. If you want to visit Vulcano Poas we can only recommend this lodge, with a great view of the San Jose plain. Matthew gave us some very useful tips for getting to Vulcano Poas, which we were able to enjoy with great weather. Gladly again
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. View is incredible. Matthew and Leah were great hosts. Very personable and made great conversation. Very accommodating with any requests we had. The location is great for visiting Poas Volcano.
Cons: Everything was great for our stay. Nothing was out of place or missing.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, beautiful views, staff was incredibly helpful
Cons: The bed was squeaky, it played into the whole, "rustic" experience, but could be improved, and I believe the owners are aware of this.
7,5 Good
Pros: Fantastic view. Owners give you a warm welcome and holiday feeling. Nice food/menu. Close to NP
Cons: When arriving at the Poas the building looks a bit sad. Rooms are somewhat old-fashioned.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing! The couple who run it are very attentive and the food was fantastic. We were travelling as a couple and only stayed the one night but would happily have stayed longer.
Cons: Perhaps the bathrooms could use a little spruce up but the couple who run it have only been there for 5 months so I imagine this is on their to do list.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff at desk who took time to check me in when they could not find my reservation. Maybe issue with online company I booked through but they still honored my rate.
Cons: Some issues with the hot water at sink and shower. Was either scalding hot or cold. Hard to tune. Not a deal breaker at all though
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Expected quality of Martiott
Cons: No
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel located in a perfect location near San Jose Airport. It's super easy to get to the hotel using the shuttle service from the airport, just don't tempt to take a taxi and wait for the big shuttle with the hotel signs on it. The room and the service are great, and the check out process took us exactly 5 seconds. The shuttles to the airport starts at 4AM and really comfortable. You have a big Walmart outside.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It's your typical airport hotel... just incredibly overpriced for a standard airport hotel. You get what you expect - a clean room, professional staff, and airport transport if needed. Nothing exceptional, but an easy airport hotel if you need it pre or post flight.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Security, beautiful facility, restaurants across the parking lot, affordable, airport shuttle, staff, quiet, cleanliness
Cons: Would have liked a complimentary breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place to stay for early morning or late arriving flights. Just moments from the airport.
6,0 Good
Pros: near airport, airport shuttle schedule
Cons: The neighborhood was not too inviting. I thought breakfast was complimentary. Staff told me that our rate didn't qualify for complimentary breakfast. Continental was $12 and regular breakfast was $15 or $17. Obviously didn't eat there.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very good. Very close to the airport. The shuttle comes upon request and arrived within 5 minutes (both ways) from the airport to the hotel and back. Spacious room. Big and comfy bread. Since there is no better alternative that close to the airport, I stayed here twice.
Cons: The price is very high for an airport hotel. The hotel is currently being remodelled, which is good for future guests, but a bit noisy at the moment
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Arrived very late after a long day traveling and they promptly sent a shuttle to pick us up. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast- especially the Costa Rican options- were delicious and plentiful. Also located immediately across from multiple car rental companies so we were able to leisurely wake up, eat, and walk over the collect the rental. Very easy start to vacation!
Cons: Didn’t bother us, but it’s next to the airport: you will hear planes. Certainly not a dealbreaker!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Mattress, pillows, cleanliness, wifi, breakfast buffet, and friendly staff.
Cons: Wished they sold wine in their store as they do beer.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Location to airport. 24h hot beverages in the lobby. Staff friendliness. Complimentary shuttle service.
Cons: Breakfast was not a very wide variety to choose from. The food was ok, but bread was hard and other fried food was also dried out. There was no notification in advance of reservation to warn that there are renovations taking place. I spent a lot of time in my room and was not happy with the constant hammering and other building noises taking place below me. Breakfast was also noisy and the opposite of peaceful with all the building renovations.
7,5 Good
Pros: Clean, friendly and comfortable. A welcome oasis.
Cons: Come challenge navigating from roads / highways.
8,8 Excellent

7,9 Good
Pros: The staff is always friendly at Hampton Inn properties. Breakfast is great with excellent selections. The San Jose, Costa Rica property is very close to the airport which was great for our early flight home.
Cons: Was extremely disturbed by the prostitutes that were brought in by other male guests staying at the San Jose, Costa Rica Hampton Inn. Did not expect to see that at a Hampton Inn. Did not like the half open shower with waterfall shower head...it makes the bathroom floor very wet.
7,0 Good
Pros: Clean, good location
Cons: We asked for quiet room and ended up by elevator that made noises each time it was used.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff

Pros: Convenience to airport. Value for al, the amenities.
Cons: Nothing.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The service was impeccable. Dinner at the restaurant was one of the best we had on our trip. Breakfast was also very good. They made arrangements for us to shuttle to the airport, making that very easy for us.
Cons: One of the rooms had a leaky faucet.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed one night for a post-flight rest so the airport shuttle was particularly useful as was the location. Really helpful staff & good facilities - food was nice. The pool area is lovely.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, the staff makes you feel like they are family. Staff is professional and friendly.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: There's a restaurant that has the feel of a soda on site. Rooms are comfy and staff is very attentive. Perfect spot if you need a place near airport but don't want to stay in an American chain hotel that lacks character.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I like that even thought the surrounding neighborhood is a little isolating from San Jose the privacy gate to the hotel is nice. They have an on-site restaurant where I had a red snapper that was fresh and delicious, especially after traveling all day. The room itself was a good value compared to other 5 star hotels I stayed in San Jose. The airport shuttle is the main reason for my stay and it was very quick to get to be airport, maybe about 15 mins tops.
Cons: This isn't a problem with the hotel, but during my stay, a couple had small children that were making so much noise at 4AM. I wasn't able to get good sleep because of that. Also, my bathroom had quite a few large ants that I had to exterminate. Since I didn't know if they were poisonous I got rid of them.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient complimentary pick up from the airport - hopped on the shuttle and it was very easy. Grounds are really well maintained and fun to explore. Nice outdoor seating and great breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was comfortable and easy to access from the airport and or day trips around san jose.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We got to this place very late (around 12:30 am) on our first night in Costa Rica. It seemed to be a risky neigborhood, but when we got there, it was beautiful with a great parking area. There was someone there to greet us even though it was very late and made sure we were comfortable. The next morning (our first day in Costa Rica), we got up early and walked around the pool and the yard. We were in the pool before 7 am and the kids had a wonderful time (we did too). The breakfast was excellent (something for everyone) and we would have stayed longer!
Cons: By the beautiful swimming pool, there was a hottub, but no hot water in it! I just found this a little bizarre. There seems to be little else available around the hotel, in the neigborhood, but this might also be from a lack of time on our part to explore.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All interactions with staff were extremely pleasant. The location is close to the airport and the property is secluded, quiet and actually very beautiful. The food at the restaurant was also very good.
Cons: none
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Such good food. Very accommodating and friendly staff. We felt so at home here. Perfect stop off before or after exploring Costa Rica.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very secure location. Alajuela and San Jose are a bit crowded and sketchy. This is is a suburb of Alajuela. We state there the night before we returned to the United States. It's close to the airport and downtown but in a safe and quiet spot that is not too remote. The staff is really warm and helpful. Great experience. Free airport shuttle as well.
Cons: no complaints

Pros: The staff were exceptionally welcoming. We had had a bad landing and had to look after a terrified cat who had soiled her cage and they were very understanding about this. The place is very tranquil which we badly needed after travelling and the room very pleasant. Wish we could have stayed another day to rest up.
Cons: I can't think of anything. The location might not work for people who have stuff to do in Alajuela and the cab from the airport is more than for an in-town hotel but it served our purposes.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect place to wake up our first day in Costa Rica! Beautiful view overlooking the mountainside, a quiet garden to eat breakfast in and enjoy the morning. Simple breakfast was fresh fruit with local cheese and coffee. Our hosts were friendly, the room was clean and spacious. We will definitely return to Hotel Vista Linda Montana!

Pros: Location close to airport. Friendly host helped with SIM card problems, also changed some money for us at a good rate and recommended a restaurant nearby. Great view from room, spacious open air breakfast room.

Pros: It was clean, it is a family owned business and they were very accommodating, polite and nice, they gave us directions to the different tourist attractions. And a ride to our final destination. Pura Vida !
Cons: No housekeeping, and we could hear the traffic throughout the night, for it is located by the main road Were heavy trucks transport their goods. But it is a great location for the local attractions, so if you don’t mind that little minus it is then a good place to stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible scenery in the backyard and hummingbird garden on property. Great hospitality from the staff.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: the garden next to the hotel is just amazing. It was hard to stop making photos.
Cons: We had hard time making the hot shower work
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, very attentive. The room was very clean as well as all the facilities. Easy access by car and large parking space. The garden is very well-kept.
Cons: We rent the Suit room. We had other Suite room (Pacuare) next to us and the wall between is not a very effective sound insulator. We heard the people of the next room walking, watching TV and even just talking. They can improve this detail with the sound.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, staff were nice and the views were gorgeous. The gardens were really lovely to explore.
Cons: The buildings have very thin walls so you can hear any occasional noisy trucks from the road nearby. The meal sizes at dinner could be bigger and less expensive.

Pros: Nice and friendly staff very relaxed.

Pros: Very quiet, and comfortable.
Cons: Curtains didn't block out the light from the patio.
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast good
Cons: Lots of ants n bugs in room
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was traditional Costa Rican food, staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was very well kept, and facilities were fine, though decor in need of a little refresh.
Cons: Decor.
7,9 Good
Pros: Grounds and pool area was fabulous. Great location for airport and quiet. Rooms were very nice but...
Cons: Shower valve was funky and sink didn’t drain well. We paid for and organized our taxi the night before but the reception did not arrange it so it was a mad scramble and stressful in the morning to call for and wait for another taxi.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings are beautiful. We loved the garden. Very peaceful place and close to the airport. I love the fact that you don't have to cross San Jose to be able to get to the airport!
Cons: The toilet sink was leaking a bit but they fixed it right away.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, not far from the airport, clean rooms!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location - 20 mins from San Jose international airport via taxe booked through the hotel - very easy to organise. Staff were great, special note to Juan who was very happy to help and even let us eat around the pool as the evening was nice. Rooms are quirky, this is not a modern place and its great for that. We used this place twice as a first night and last night stop over before leaving for home. Breakfast is typical Tico style, Galo Pinto, scrambled eggs, fruit, coffee and juice - it is help yourself and is more than enough to set you up for the day ahead. Spacious, clean and quiet. Staff moved and upgraded us to a superior room as a large group of teens on a school trip were staying for the night and wanted to ensure we were not disturbed. Set in lush tropical gardens, where you can view lots of different birds and even see black tree squirrels Would whole heartedly recommend this place.
Cons: nothing to not like
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The welcoming staff, mostly Edwin! The place itself in the nature. The pool.
Cons: Hard to find.

Pros: Great location for airport night before.
Cons: Empty place without any info when we arrived on spa opening etc. Just seemed a bit obsessed wirh 10pm closure of restaurant. We were alao asked if we wanted coffee and fruit on morning for our 3am departure but only got orange juice. Taxi also didnt turn up so may be ask them to recheck.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous property. Close to airport (15 minutes). Wonderful pizza!
7,1 Good
Pros: Grounds were beautiful. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Rooms were more like an economy motel than a resort. No shampoo. Not enough towels. Uncomfortable beds. Neighborhood was not walkable.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: They accommodated our very late check in. The rooms were huge and clean. The complimentary breakfast was amazing. The grounds were very nice. The staff was great. Each time I emailed, before the trip, I got a very quick response.
Cons: No hot water for the shower. It was hot for a few seconds, then cold for the rest.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are big and comfy. The pool is quite large.
Cons: Parts of the hotel seem abandoned, maybe due to low vacancy?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was close to the airport and the places we needed to visit in Alajuela/San Jose. The room was nice. Loved the balcony overlooking the pool. Grounds were keep up nicely. A lot of birds and iguana's everywhere. Convenient with restaurant and lounge on property.
Cons: We had a nice stay, cannot think of anything we did not enjoy about the visit. Would stay again, when needing to fly out of San Jose.
7,5 Good
Pros: The staff were attentive the room was fine and the food in the restaurant for dinner was good.
Cons: The breakfast was very simple and the difference between buffet and full breakfast was eggs, not a great choice. I also was not advised in advance that the bus to and from the airport was not the hotel shuttle and had to pay for it. I feel a 5star hotel should be offering a bus transfer.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning in each room, lovely patios on our rooms. Room service was quick and delicious. Located directly across the street from an animal rescue center.
Cons: Some squealing pipes and a couple loose fixtures but nothing critical.

6,3 Good
Pros: Our server in the restaurant was very lovely and friendly! Also the cook came out to check how our meal was.the gardens are nice.
Cons: The lights in the room are so bright: the shade doesn’t cover the lightbulbs over the bed so it was quite glaring. The bathroom sink faucet has a ver up fast drip. The coffee maker only had one pod - and it was already used! Gross. The beds are not comfortable. We were glad only to be there one night.
7,5 Good
Pros: shuttle on time at the airport with a sign with name, and availability of shuttle return to the airport very early in the Morning ( 4h30am) 15min drive from the airport nice swimming pool and garden quiet environment
Cons: industrial area around water bottle in the room people noise at night in the corridors and the lobby
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Did not use the restaurant. Relied on the free shuttle to the airport at 4:30 am.
7,1 Good
Pros: Even though location is very near the airport, we could not hear noise from the air plains or traffic The surroundings are beautiful.
Cons: Breakfast not included and it is not cheap compare to other places, but typical Tico melas (rice and beans - Casado, coffee and some fruits)
7,7 Good
Pros: Perfect hotel for the money. We had three rooms, all with two queen beds for only $92 per room. The staff was exceptionally friendly, the pool and gardens are nice, and the restaurant was one of the best meals throughout our trip. Airport shuttle was on time even with our 3:30am pickup.
Cons: The shower has soap/shampoo and conditioner (I think) attached to the wall. I'll probably avoid the "conditioner" if I stay again.
10,0 Excellent

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the airport since I was just transitioning through. Friendly staff and clean, large comfortable room.
Cons: I wasn’t prepared to pay cash, I thought that I could pay with a credit card. I did have enough cash in USD on hand, so it wasn’t an issue. Since I was only staying for one night, it was okay. Maybe it was in the fine print , but I didn’t see it.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the airport, shuttle service to the airport, quiet, nice people
Cons: Not much to see in that area
6,8 Good
Pros: Breakfast and shuttle to airport and staff was nice Thought it was quiet . Close to airport
Cons: Bathroom had no mirror Ac was hidden in hallway beds were ok
6,7 Good
Pros: It was a pretty place and staff was friendly. The food was good.
Cons: It is not actually that close to the airport at all and seems like a rough part of town. It was not super comfortable either. There were bright lights on outside all night and curtains didn’t block it out. My husband also complained the bed was not comfortable.
7,9 Good
Pros: Awesome location to the airport! Free shuttle for our flight! Decent onsite pizza would recommend for those needing somewhere close to the airport.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great service! Delicious breakfast. (Plantains, fresh fruit, eggs, rice and beans, coffee tea etc). Beautiful courtyard and pool with outdoor seating. Great service, airport shuttle, convenient to airport.
Cons: Window had to remain open to allow climate control unit.
6,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, except if you are staying for a couple of days you will get tired, they served the same breakfast every day, no change on the menu.
Cons: I give kids a credit to do their best, but they need more experiance on customer service, they are just too strict on rules. example, I had to make a choice on what to do because my plans got change. and I had to get a respond from my companion which I had trouble getting in touch with. Got told bye the girl in charge, if I didn't get my stuff out of the room bye 11 am, I will be charge an extra day, plain and simple no customer experience.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful lush property - well maintained grounds. Staff was mostly super friendly. Breakfast was good
Cons: Rooms aren’t very soundproof. Kids were running around screaming until late and it was hard to sleep. the shower drain was super clogged so I was showering in huge puddle. a little expensive for the area. Also a little mean dog was walking around. If there is a property dog it should be friendly, in my opinion.

Pros: Hidden gem. Truly a sanctuary close to the airport and away from the hustle and bustle. The hot tub, sauna and Hammam are definitely the highlights. I also love the healthy food with plenty of plant based options.
Cons: Slightly overpriced.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Good and special location if you don't want to be in San Jose, great atmosphere as it is small and intimate and very beautiful. Helpful team that will help you to arrange or find anything you need. It was exactly what we needrd upon landing in order to escape the city life, feel the nature and to start a relaxed holiday.
7,1 Good
Pros: Stunning view, Very calm place, beautiful rooms with elegant design.
Cons: The concept of "healing", very small portions of food (I asked for a second glas of juice- Sorry, not possible!), two tiny slices of bread with three small pieces of fruits and coffee with goat milk- thats the healing breakfast . There was no staff around... felt a little bit like on an other planet, but in a very strange way. The were no curtains at the window in the bathroom - felt little bit nudistic. The pool was not very clean und the jacuzzi was icecold - healing icecold?
