My wife and I were re-routed via Zurich, and I am glad the lady who did this at check-in noticed asked us for the right option. She confided in us that the flight to Newark was full, and I wondered why United had overbooked us in the first place.

Pros: "the flight attendants were a breath of fresh air. truly great client service, genuinely friendly. every person working at the airport that i encountered on my way to my flight was rude, disassociated, and honestly seemed to enjoy being petty while at their job. the moment i arrived onto the plane, the male flight attendant that greeted me was so kind, made sure i was okay, and was a source of much needed sincerety during the entire experience, as were the rest of the crew. thank you thank you."

Cons: "When boarding we were suddenly told that we're not allowed to take any carry-on and all this without prior notice as far as we knew. They just told us bluntly, our tickets are not eligible for any carry-on which ticked us off and they wouldn't budge."

Cons: "2 hr layover-got off plane and walked to new terminal-went through carry on bag and person security scans and checks. At the gate 30 mins before flight, boarding started. Directed to go to 1of3 stand up desks located in the open away from the gate and boarding lines. Desks were attended by one United employee each. All 3 of us;wife, husband, child passports, boarding passes were checked, and then we were told to get in line to board the plane. About one minute after getting in line, wife name was called over the boarding desk loud speaker to see the boarding desk attendant. At the boarding desk, the boarding desk attendant instructed wife to go back to one of the open area desks to have documents checked again. The attendant then instructed wife that her and her bag would need to go through a secondary search before wife would be alloyed to board the plane. Wife was then accompanied by open area desk attendant and walked down terminal 8 gates to private type room where personnel quickly checked contents of single carry on bag focusing on phone and computer. Wife then directed to go ahead and go back to gate to board plane. Wife quickly walked to gate and met husband and child to present passports and boarding passes. At this time the wife and child began being verbally rushed by a male united employee to hurry up down the pedway, and told the plane needed to leave so hurry up. Needless so say wife, husband and child were the few last guests to be seated. Well, when trying to get seated, all the overhead space had been taken in the area around the assigned seats. When husband briefly described the secondary search situation and thus the current predicament with no space in the overhead for carry on, the attendant asked husband to follow attendant to front of plane with your bag in order to stow there. After speaking with some other attendants, space was made available in an overhead compartment near wife, husband and child seat. ***Please be aware when flying united.... While waiting in the boarding line after multiple security checks where you and your carryon have been scanned and more than one document check has been done, you may to be asked to take a walk to go through yet another bag check, and then be rushed to board a plane that needs to leave, and then find no room for your carry on, and then be asked to put your carry on in a remote location and deal with getting to it and back to your seat for the next 11 hrs if you want to access the contents of your carry on."

Cons: "Flight attendants passed out headsets to hear the media, my set was missing one of the foam ear pads. When I called it to the attention of a flight attendant, she took my set and did not return with one, causing me to search out my telephone headset."
Cons: "Connecting flight from Orlando, FL to San Francisco, CA. Departed on time but still arrive 40 minutes after schedule. Need to have more accurate time. Almost cause me to miss my next flight."

And I was stuck in an unfamiliar airport for 10 hours waiting for a new flight through another airline. Oh and dod I mention the bag they lost for a whole day was 50lbs of fresh Alaskan seafood and yes it all was thawed.... I will never fly United airlines again."

Anyone traveling, paying for the services of the airlines should not be mafe to feel ashamed to ask for help."

Then, after we were all on, the crew arrived, saying they had just been assigned to our flight. Needless to say, the flight was over an hour late, many of us missed our connections and had to spend the night,"
