Every time you watch a new TV episode, you have to sit through 5-6 ads for stuff that is not interesting and the same each time. ** plane info on media system keeps reverting to Arabic even when English is indicated as preferred la gauge. We had to place our iPads in checked luggage for flights from harare to USA as we went through Qatar. *** I asked for quiet seats and was given seats near kitchen and toilet even though I booked in hours in advance. One leg had my ten year old daughter and I in different rows even though I checked in 4-5 hours in advance Of flight . ** staff moved my hand luggage without my permission and without informing me - it was stressful trying to find it."

Pros: "Excellent experience overall, the food was decent, the seats were comfortable and had enough space for me at 6ft tall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, entertainment selection was good with plenty of new movies out. I had no problems with my layover. The baggage allowance was great as I had extra luggage from my trip. I'm very happy with their customer service, the day before my first flight I received a phone call from Qatar's customer service saying that due to delays I wouldn't be able to make my connecting flight to Edinburgh so they would like to book me on another flight instead of me having to wait 24 hours in Doha. I was thoroughly impressed with this service."

Cons: "This seemed far different from emirate flights that I'm used to. Over the years their service has decreased but the 1 meal and sub-par snack I got for an 8.5hr flight was poor, likened to a budget airline. This is the second flight recently I've been on that the drinks come so long after the meal you don't even get to enjoy your cola with the meal. The first food cart should have colas if there won't be another cart to come along until 30+ minutes later. I also expected Emirates to provide an eye patch, an 8 hr+ flight in the night time hours in worthy of an eyepatch. Budget airlines do not provide this, but I expected Emirates to. Lastly, I don't think it's necessary to hand out a menu indicating there is something to look forward to when the food is of quite poor standards for Emirates, standard for all other airlines. Maybe the Durban to Dubai route stocks he flights with less experienced crew, this is the impression I got; a much less refined group of people on the plane."

This was the connector out of Dubai and back to Johannesburg. I've flown with them many times and I've picked up one or two small cut backs they've made like no hot towel when you get onboard, only before your arrival, and the meal seems a little more slimmed down (but still pretty tasty), They used have one or two extras which they've now taken away. Toilets at DXB were filthy (I searched around for the cleanest, which was still disgusting), with the cleaning attendant standing around in the restroom doing nothing. Duty Free shops really expensive compared to European airports. Meal on board (breakfast) was really terrible (and that taking into account that airline breakfast is always bad), really the worst I've ever had on a plane, even the Croissant was chewy and very dry. Emirates has become a massive sausage machine people-mover. It has loss its finesse and exceptional service."

There is not enough room to even reach down to pick something up if you drop it. Overhead lockers are full. I think planes either need to be redesigned with sleeping compartments (such as the second class compartments the trains have) for overnight flights or seats need to be slightly larger to make up for the fact most people are larger today."

Since manufacturers adhere to airline baggage standards, no violations were found during checks. This misguided effort only resulted in publicly humiliating Swissair customers. Boarding process was pure pandemonium...this was the first time in recent memory, where all coach passengers were invited to board at the same time! Very inefficient! Crowded seating in coach,with ten passengers sandwiched in across Boeing 767 aircraft. Competing airlines flying identical aircraft have nine across seatings Thin seat cushions cause leg cramps after a few hours."

You’d pick a movie and it wouldn’t play. The games, camera and flight status animation all worked but not the movies. Air hostess tried resetting , still nothing. But it was a great opportunity to have a lovely conversation with my new German Friend Barbara and read my book! More lactose intolerant alternatives for breakfast which had much (cheese, yogurt, croissant) Other than those two , excellent flight. Thank you Swiss!"

Pros: "I was late ( I had to drive 230 Km ) and I managed to call in advance the company that was doing the check-in on behalf of SWISS - I asked them the Check-in time closing time and by almost flying ( speeding like crazy ) I arrived before that moment."
Cons: "I did not check the terms and conditions of the ticket. I am a Star Alliance Gold member and I was expecting SWISS to have a similar booking system like the others I fly with. I found out that the ticket fare did not contain checked luggage ( so I had to pay a hefty fee for it ) and also my 20" wheeled case that was ok in all the other flights I took it with me, this time was oversized and overweight . My wife took out the 2 laptops so it became within weight limits but still oversized - My wife paid for the fee ( I wasn't there at the time and she is not a such experienced flyier as I am ) . When I found out about the fee, I checked their rules and I found out that the hand luggage is allowed to be 22" . I saw in the airplane a lot of people with cases having the same size as mine, that went as checked luggage at a cost fo around 40 . I want to see how can I get my money back . . ."

Probably would have missed the connection if our 26 year old son didn't run ahead. Too much drama and no one from swiss air to help. Suggest more time for transfer in the future or someone to guide passengers. We were nit the only ones. However, we did make it as did the others ( luggage too!)so kudos to swiss for waiting"

I appreciate that the attendants wanted to visit with her and give her their attention but it kept her from sleeping and woke me up. Since she had no proper place to use the bathroom she needed to be sleeping to keep her body clock in order."

Cons: "I was at the gate for my flight from Istanbul to Bucharest but 25 minutes before departure I noticed that passengers were lining up at a different gate so I asked what happened. I was told the flight had departed even though it was still 25 minutes before flight time. I then had to go to ticket sales where they charged me $425 dollars for the 80 minute flight to Bucharest. In the US, I would have been put on the next available flight fee of charge. I will never fly Turkish Airlines again."

Cons: "When you are doing a long flight, you don't want fruit to be the only choice for dessert. It's hard enough being gluten free but to find that nearly every airline just thinks that fruit is acceptable is disappointing. They did provide a gluten free bread roll rather than the usual rice cakes but on two recent legs, didn't heat it. When I told the flight crew the second time that it is inedible when not heated, he was great and said he would do that. And it is nice to eat grilled vegetables which are delicious but sometimes particularly on a long flight, a bit more variety is needed. Turkish Airlines is excellent but fixing this would make it great."

For 20 minutes crew stood around in the airport talking to each other and using their cellphones. Finally the transport bus was loaded only to have the bus driver get out, and talk to another employee while simultaneously using his phone. No information was given for the delay and the plane was boarded at time of departure. This careless and unbothered attitude resulted in a missed connecting flight for my partner and I. We were completely unassisted by crew on the plane and ended up having to wait 24hours for our next flight home. Absolutely disgusted by the service provided from Cluj to Munich. I would seriously consider another airline before booking again with Lufthansa for this route."

Cons: "On May 16, 2017, there was a group of Albanian and American passengers rushing through Frankfurt Airport to catch the connecting flight to New York. Their first flight (LH#1425) from Tirana to Frankfurt was 45 minutes late causing them to eventually miss their connecting flight. At this point, the passengers were asked to show their passports, separating the US citizens from the rest. All the US citizens were loaded on a bus and provided hotel, dinner and breakfast. The Albanian citizens were moved to the lower level of the airport where they were left to freeze all night. Some of the passengers were elderly and had their heart or high blood pressure medications in their luggage that they didn’t have access to. One US-Albanian citizen was asked to separate from his Green-Card holder wife in order to receive the US citizen treatment…"

I asked for this to be addressed and the SAA crew ignored the request and in the morning looked surprised to find out that several of the TV monitors had not worked at anytime on the flight. Lufthansa spends a little more effort than other airlines to cut down on waste when it comes to their in-flight food service (real silverware and reuseable dishes). The Munich airport is by far more convenient than Frankfurt when making connections in Germany."

Why can't they call/text me with a 30 minute window."
