Pros: This is a lovely hotel, with decor based on a composer... marble throughout the lobby, lovely music in the background, musical decorations in the rooms, cozy quiet rooms, very helpful and kind owners and manager, and a fine breakfast included. I stayed one night (five booked) and realized, after my walk into the center to get dinner the first night (about 7 or 8 blocks) that I wouldn't be able to repeat this. Uneven sidewalks, wet from rain, relatively dark streets.... not for me. (76 and afraid of falling) The owners kindly let me pay for only one night and cancel the rest with no penalty (except some taxes, apparently). They talked to Holiday Inn in the center and got me a discounted room there. Because they'd already charged my Visa card, the manager sent a cash refund to the Holiday Inn the next day for me.
Cons: Nothing. I wish I could have stayed my entire five nights there. .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people
Cons: No hot water 24 hrs
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very reasonable priced, for a clean, friendly, well run hotel. Breakfast was lovely with freshly cooked food.
6,3 Good
Pros: A central hotel, friendly, aging rooms, but overall adequate place. Marco is very helpful and friendly and has perfect English. Wifi didn’t work in the evening and was hard to communicate with limited Spanish (Marco not there in the evening). Breakfast was tasty - you choose from a menu.
Cons: No wifi all evening. Scratch sheets and old towels. Room need refurbishing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The peacefulness of the whole hotel, the layout and interesting areas designated for different purposes like a children's area and library, breakfast restaurant, art gallery, boutique, tranquil music playing in the common area and friendly , helpful staff.
Cons: A couple of times the hot water was shut off after 10:30 pm so the shower was cold if you came in late.
7,4 Good
Pros: Great breakfast, the few personal was great. First days were very quiet but the last night at lot of nice.

Cons: The help from the employees:))
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great hostel in a convenient central area. The interior garden is lovely and peaceful, the kitchen and relaxation areas are great and the dorms and rooms are too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I really felt at home staying there for a week. Highly recommended!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location very convenient, right in the city center. The staff is very kind and supportive.
Cons: I found two cockroaches in my room the day I arrived
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. During my stay the open courtyard was full of rabbits, which provided great entertainment, and the open kitchen and dining area were added bonuses, perfect spots for mingling with other guests and travelers. The shared rooms are simple and the location ideal for exploring the downtown area. I highly recommend staying here.
Cons: The shared bathrooms could be cleaner, but for the price it's still a steal
5,0 Okay
Pros: Friendly guy at reception. Price.
Cons: I wasn't given a towel. I didn't know there were any. There was no coffee at breakfast. There were no lights in the yard to easily find your way to the bathroom at night. There were bedbugs or some other bugs that bit me in the night that took me many days to recover from. There was a toilet seat on only one of the toilets. Broken furniture in the bedroom.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place if you want to go downtown of Xalapa. Nice and cosy hostal. Super friendly staff. Things are very basic, but tidy and you will find really everything you need. Nice price. Would come back at any time.
Cons: Nothing to complain about, just perfect!
4,6 Okay
Cons: I arrived really tired and ready to rest when the receptionist told me they had given my private room reservation to someone else. He was giving me disparate answers as to why and was not prepared to give me a solution. He mainly blamed it on the person working the earlier shift. I ended up staying and getting a bed in the dormitory because I didn't want to deal with trying to find another place. He took me to the dormitory and told me there (actually he didn't even bring it up, I had to ask him) after I had paid that they had no more keys to the room to give us so we would not be able lock it. Furthermore, we couldn't even close the door when leaving because the door would lock itself and we would have no way to get back in unless we called staff. To top it all off, at the end he didn't give us our deposit back for the building key. Maybe he didn't remember, but I suspect he knew and just didn't have the money available. Just like the room key situation, he seemed afraid to bring it up. I let it go because it was only 20 pesos and I just wanted to leave. They did let me leave my luggage after checkout to pickup later and didn't charge me for a towel so that's good.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The garden and the serenity of the place
Cons: The area around the hostel is super nice and quiet and near to the center

3,3 Mediocre
Cons: Check in tool forever, seemed like the check in desk was training someone while checking us in- but with very little communication as to why it was taking so long. And they had to check room first too- and we were not checking in early either. Then when we finally got to the room the aircon didn't work. Also the wondow in the shower looked into the room next door!? And nowhere was a wifi password to be found. I walked down and asked for assistance. Got the wifi details - but was told they'll help with aircon in a bit. About 2 hours later someone came to room to let us know that we can change rooms. They didn't even try to fix aircon or see what was wrong. So we moved. And the second room was about half the size and with no windows except the one looking out to the passage way.... Room was stuffy and cramped despite being a triple. The bedding was uncomfortable and half the plugs didn't work. Also... The bathroom had no windows, no extractor fan so very humid and the shower door was so bent it couldn't close properly. And the wash basin was in the middle of the room.. which is strange. The check-out was also a struggle, not because I don't speak Spanish but because the hotel staff make no effort to communicate with you. For the price we paid I was very unsatisfied and unhappy with place. The hotel is beautifully decorated inside and outside- looks like it has loads of potential, but the service needs a lot of work.
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, spacy rooms
Cons: Hotel could have been a better sport charging less for pasta without sauce and cheese, being able to offer salad in the evenings and having more extensive opening hours (before 9 am) at the pool (which was pretty cold)
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good decor. Big rooms
Cons: Customer service. Wifi didn’t work for few days on my floor and they didn’t fix it despite repeated complaints
10,0 Excellent
Pros: comfortable and safe place.
Cons: they should have a bilingual employee who can understand and speak english most specially to the reception area.
7,0 Good
Pros: Closeness to the Bus station, beautiful restaurant with venetian-like arquitecture. The room was clean.
Cons: The rooms are old fashioned and kitsch. Not many electrical outlets.
4,2 Okay
Pros: We have to be honest since we had a terrible start at the hotel the only things we liked was the breakfast and the helpful way IRASEMA at the fronk desk managed the whole situation ..THIS YOUNG LADY deserves a better position at the hotel she is extremely dynamic has a great carisma and knows every single details of the hotel..For those kind of people we all should give a recommendations..Thanks to her the Management heard all what happened to us and changed the room.. also a big thanks to the Manager Ana Maria for have the touch to make feel us better after so many misunderstandings and for the room change.
Cons: As a Genius Traveller They didn't respect my early check in hours after long irrelevant explanations and 2.40 hrs waiting they gave us a terrible old room with broken sink and dirty corners ; The Hotel Manager changed us later to a better room but this one had a mass of mosquitos ...Terrible !!! the room was on the 2nd floor under the restaurant at 7 am you start to hear how the people coming to the Rest. are moving chairs and the tables you can hear every single noise from the 3rd floor.. If you booked your room with breakfast included then you must give the voucher requested by the restaurant personal which is definitely unpolite , not motivated not even good morning , they confuse the guests explaining the voucher situation or taking something from the menu .. everything look apparently a cute traditional thematic hotel but when you see it with other guys is a big mistake ... DANIEL and MARTHA at the reception are like not motivated to work here and Martha is really unpolite .. a terrible experience ...I took a lot of pictures to prove the status of the hotel and to be honest for the price I paid for a triple room I would better go to Fiesta Inn or try another hotel in Xalapa...
7,5 Good
Pros: Unique architecture. Friendly staff
Cons: Limited breakfast choice of included breakfast. Poor acoustics. Can hear noice in the room.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful little boutique hotel, with unique one of a kind rooms. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The food in the hotel restaurant is outstanding, and reasonably priced, in the afternoon and the evening and the service is amazing. The pizza is not to be missed and I had one of the best steaks ever here. So tender, you wold not need teeth to chew. We really thought the staff were incredible. From the bartender, Alfredo, to the cleaning personnel. Our room was beautifully prepared everyday. Kudos on this. Lots of small places to work and hang out in the public areas so you don't feel trapped in your room. This is also a pet friendly hotel. We don't have an animal, but we loved the owners' dogs.
Cons: The music or MUZAK! Too loud, particularly if you are in a room like ours which is close to the restaurant. We should have insisted more, but it can be awkward when you are guest. The safe is a little small. But honestly nothing terrible to complain about. Would stay here again.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nicely decorated, helpful and kind staff, clean. Good location. Lots of places to sit and relax.

8,4 Excellent (345 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Imperial in Xalapa, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Juarez Park and Interactive Museum of Xalapa (MIX). Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is confortable, even if not refined in every detail, and the bed is very good. The food of the restaurant combined with the hotel is good and the room service is available and free. The WIFI is good. I had a lot of problem in connecting my PC to the net, DNS wasn't resolving anything, but the staff solved the problem in 10-15 minutes. Positive!
Cons: Unfortunately in the hotel there was a group of young guys that made a lot of noise, both evening and the morning, and the staff didn't intervened to raise down the volume. My room didn't have a window to the outside, but only an internal one. The staff does NOT speak english. I don't have much problem because, being italian, I understand spanish as the two languages are quite similar but if you work in the world of tourism you MUST know and speak english. The position of the hotel is in a bending hill. I didn't park in front of it because I judged making operations to park too dangerous for the risk of other cars coming down the road and possibly hitting me.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value. It's a charming little hotel if you get he right room, could be depressing if you don't. Ask for a room with a window facing the street, it makes all the difference. The girl at the front desk was fantastic. I arrived early and was given a room. It was an inside room and had no window. I asked for a different room and she gave me a room facing the street (those rooms have small step out balconies and windows). This is a no frills place on a street a few blocks from centro, but offers great value and an excellent staff. Clean. Friendly. Free continental breakfast. I was happy with it and would stay there again (as long as I can get a room with a window). Early check in time at 1:00 was a major bonus.
Cons: No a/c in the room so if that's a priority, you will not be happy. Inside room had a fan. Outside room had ample air flow from outdoors. Small bathroom but good hot water and water pressure, so it was not an issue. In a good neighborhood, but not in the middle of the action, so you'll need a taxi or walk a few blocks. No English from the staff I met. It didn't bother me because they were friendly and let me fumble through my Spanish, but if English is priority, you might be out of luck.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: - Breakfast included (received more eggs then normally offered) - hot water immediately available - parking place in front of the hotel available

Pros: This hotel is fine for business travel. It seems very safe with onsite security and someone at the front desk 24/7. The restaurant is nice in a pinch, but there are some good restaurants nearby. I went to La Gavia restaurant nearby and was very satisfied.
Cons: The room had an odd smell. I was there during some rains and used the portable radiator that was in the room. I think the radiator might have emitted a oily smell when it was running, not sure.

Cons: The cocktral at 4am
