Bathroom was equipped with all necessary amenities; specially the bath tub which we liked most. Had a gala breakfast at the Paruwa restaurant. There were a variety of food and was tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Pros: A beautiful hotel set in beautiful grounds

Pros: Breakfast is good.
Cons: The beach is horrid dangerous with high waves. The hotel is secluded with nothing in walking distance. The restaurant is hot and not air conditioned, our second night the restaurant offered us staff food as a buffet. The reception took cash for transport the day before we travelled out and didn't provide me with a receipt, on enquiring the next morning the staff showed frustration. In addition on check out day the staff decided that keeping my credit card in their hands searching it around was a good idea!!!

3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The owner!
Cons: Lack of basic comfort and cleanliness. Unwelcoming attitude from staff apart from the owner who was delightful! No choice of meal in restaurant at all. Dirty beach.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Food is good, have a friendly staff. Locations is fine.
Cons: Need a TV for each room. And sound s not proof.
7,5 Good
Pros: Nice, clean, spacios equipped rooms and good food, probably one of the best beaches on that area that isn't far from hotel or full of stray dogs. It's best you take breakfast and dinner included because it's more profitable (there are no restaurants near by and meals in hotel alone are too expensive). We loved pool, board games and free tea. :)
Cons: We couldn't pay our stay with credit card
4,6 Okay
Pros: This is a family run hotel with 7 rooms. The owners daughter in law Alexandre was excellent. Arranged good meals and saw to all our comforts. She was vert active throughout the day. Her young husband was fine. However, see the comments on the Owner called Nelson. Not a nice person at all.
Cons: The Owner of the hotel, Nelson, is a 74 year old lecherous and salacious dirty old man who thinks nothing else but women.. He, although did not make actual physical advances, was always seeking out opportunities to lure women and attempt to take advantage of them whatever their age or nationality. He has caused untold family arguments between us husband and wife. If you are a woman, stay away from this hotel. He is the ONLY reason for downgrading the feedback. We will never visit this hotel again. For the money there are huge number of SAFER places in Sri Lanka.... Ramnik from Gujerat...
7,1 Good
Pros: Spacious bedroom with ac and fan. Very comfortable bed! Hot showers and every day we received new towels. The pool is nice too.
Cons: Nothing to do in this area. Beach mediocre. But if you are looking for a quiet place to read a book it's fine.
6,7 Good
Pros: The staff was kind and let us stay in the room after check out time. Nice pool. Well made food.
Cons: Poor wifi connection. The staff was unable to help with a reasonably priced transport from the hotel.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Mr Nelson and his son Nihal and his wife Alexandra were lovely people that we got to know over our three week stay there. The food was just right not too much and not too little in a mix of local and Austrian and Russian influence from Alexandra. The bedrooms were spacious and cool if you wanted them to be with the air conditioning . Watch the odd mosquito sneaking in when the door or window is open with the light on! They like European blood if you don't use products to repel especially between sundown and darkness! The swimming pool is lovely surrounded by beautiful plants and trees which the late Mrs Nelson (from Austria) planted with family help. Despite being Welsh British we had a good relationship with the other guests many from Russia and France and European countries. Making the effort to communicate makes the difference to a holiday! I hope to go back again in 2019 and help with the gardening work and swim in the sea and sunbathe in quiet places on the beach front ! Well worth a few days or even a few weeks stay! Also get to know some of the local people they are lovely but don't be flash with the cash!!!
Cons: My only biggest problem for a creaky boned northern European was the rather thin mattresses placed on boards that sometime collapsed in the night when one turned over ! It was annoying and I mentioned to Mr Nelson . With a good 100mm mattress topper which is washable I am sure that it would make a lot of difference without too much expense and a good nights sleep would be had! I did mention the odd sneaky mosquito or two but that is expected anywhere! Maybe some comfortable armchairs or sofas in the public areas would make a difference on dull days !
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel located near the ocean. It was great sunset from the beach. The lunch is good bonus. The owners allowed to stay more than checkout time and help us with any problems. Thanks for hospitality!
Cons: It was some smell of sewage first day. But it was cleaned after complaint.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Food in general was good, location is not entirely of preference.
Cons: The facilities and equipment listed in the web site were not available to guests and is below expectation as such as travellers we were misguided . The food was good. The rooms need repairs and attention to detail. One room we got was not livable and below standard in terms of facilities and hygiene. The surroundings can be improved. The spa is not up to standard. Overall the hotel is not what was depicted in the website and needs a upgrade for the price paid. Would be hesitant to recommend this hotel to travellers in the present context.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location at the riverfront is great and crossing the river to get to the wonderful sea beach was at every time available. The food was mostly excellent.
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: I didnt like anything about the place.
Cons: There were red ants in our rooms. Air conditioners not working. No hot water. Above all the staff was very unfriendly. No hospitality at all. Behaved rudely. Everything was downright pathetic. I would never ever recommend anyone to stay in Ganga Garden. Its overrated and no value for money they charge.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location was good and the Sri Lankan food was good.
Cons: Money was taken from our locked room and this can only have been by the owner or a member of staff - he denied all knowledge of course. A previous review said that the place was very quiet (only one other room was occupied when we were there at Christmas) and the owner/manager sat around with his mates - that did seem to be so although the place was reasonably run due to the attention of the other staff. There was a very dubious water cooler on show - bottles of water in the room had been the norm in our previous hotels/b&bs.

7,1 Good
Pros: Swimming pool was very nice and clean. Beach access was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Area was well supervised by security people. Location very convenient, right on the beach that was public but clean and pretty empty.
Cons: Large amount of paperwork everywhere, including pool side bar for all inlcusive items. Staff nice but having difficulties communicating in English. Constant asking "what is your room number" at all meals even for single items.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Safe want working, floor was dirty, breakfast was poor, room was very dated/poorly furnished, no relaxing areas.
7,9 Good
Pros: We liked the surrounding and everything met our expectations
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The food was delicious and my compliments to the chef.
Cons: It was crowded an a bit too noisy as it was the start of the school holiday season. The pool was taken over by noisy kids playing water polo. It seemed the management was not interested in keeping them under control.
7,9 Good
Pros: Large space, good pool, a la carte menu price is reasonable for locals, quick room service and a clean private beach.
Cons: The bathroom had a drainage leakage which was constantly stinking, breakfast spread was not appealing, ex: string hoppers was dry.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: 1. The staff is excellent , friendly , helpful and supportive. Special thank you to Mr Nanditha the F&B manager who was very informative and thoughtful. 2. The Hotel atmosphere is overall very good and recommend the guests to enjoy hotel at a resaonable cost. 3. Food is tasty of course. My son usually not easy to please but he was very very happy about the food. 4. The calypso band is fantastic. I wish we had more time with them
Cons: We found you have improved a lot since our last visit sometime ago. However following points are important. 1. During the breakfast, the fruit juice is kept in glass jars. certainly children cant handle that as its heavy and tend to fall. Please provide Juice dispensers that are easy to operate. 2. The glass door at the same place(the dessert area) is difficult to manouver when you have food in your hands Fruit juices spilled on ground when I tried to open it. So tight and difficult to open.. 3. The breakfast hoppers are liked by many people but only one lady cooking with a cooker with two burners we had to wait quite a lot in the queue. 4. In the room, The water flow at the basins are very slow and hot water took a long time to arrive. 5. If I have not insisted, I would have paid double the price I was given at the booking .com at checkout. The person at the reception made a wrong bill and I had to point him out the correct amount and finally paid the right amount. He gave an excuse that system was reading the booking incorrectly...I think its a lame excuse.
