Rahul Guest House

Best is the location. Very close to Assi Ghat, which is, in our opinion, the most happening ghat of Varanasi. From morning 5 AM the Subah-E-Banaras and ganga Aarti starts and also free Yoga sessions been done there in the morning. Evening also Ganga Aarti and lots of other activities been performed at the Ghat. Ghat is very neat and clean. Guest house run by a family with the help of few staff members. All are very well behaved, special mention to Rahul, who is very polite and humble and the other one is the service boy (I forgot the name), who will follow all your instructions and requests with a smile :).

1st is, the property is little inside, so for elderly people and small kids its not easy to walk till Assi Ghat, which is 1 Km. from the Guest House. Young + middle age can manage easily. No lift facility, hence elderly people who is having any walking issue or knee/joint problems, won't find it suitable/comfortable. No vehicle like Auto or Rikshaw also not available easily at the location though guest house can arrange upon request. No toiletries were provided except towels, we had to request them for soap, dustbin, and dustbins were very dirty due to no dustbin bags were given with that, so every guest throw their waste directly to the bins. They should clean dustbins if they are not providing bin bags for waste disposal. There is a canteen on the roof top, but the cook was little arrogant. Food was average, minimal spice and salt used in every item hence if you like spicy food you have to request him for that. Not much choices in the menu. Paratha, puri or bread items. They should include some South Indian breakfast dishes as well, as I noticed many south people come to Varanasi, hence dosa, idli and vada would be good if they the same in the menu.

Rahul and Bittu, the two brothers who own and run the facility are excellent men. They were always at hand to assist us in every which way. The restaurant on roof top was a life saver. The menu is limited but the chef came up with fantastic meals for us all through our stay. Pity, I didn't get his name. Rahul's guest house is located away from the noisy parts of Varanasi. We liked it, though we had to commute daily to visit the numerous temples and ghats. Proximity to Assi ghat is a huge plus for me!

Bathrooms require upgradation. Although the place is accessible, cabs and vans are reluctant to enter the narrow lane.

The hotel is located at the south edge og the Varanasi's Ghut crescent, near the Assi Ghat. This makes it a quiet place which is perfect for such a noisy city as Varanasi. Max 10 mins of a took-took takes you almost everywhere along the Ghats and then you can walk it back easily. The staff is very helpful and friendly, food is excellent although only vegetarian, prices to the low range. An excellent value for money, I recommend it by all means !
