You have to stay in a love hotel when you're in Japan, at least for one night. They have everything, if you forget anything, you can order it on the room service menu. There was a huge variety of food and drink, plus a lot of quirky things (some would be particularly interesting for couples if you catch my drift). The room itself was actually huge and the bed was sooooo comfortable! In fact, my partner slept through a 6.3 magnitude earthquake because it was so comfy! Haha. The bathrooms were also huge and new, ours even had a magical rainbow light in it, which was odd but amazing. The staff here were incredibly helpful despite lacking English speaking skills and the payment system is super easy once you get the hang of using vending machines everywhere in Japan.
I thought I was prepared for a love hotel, but I was not. I've now learnt that it is common policy that once you check in, you cannot exit the building without forfeiting your room. This means you cannot leave your luggage in there, you cannot check in and then walk out to get dinner etc. Also, the parking really threw me off as our car was taken up in a big conveyor belt! This wasn't a huge downside but I would like to have known so we could get our massive suitcases out in advance.
