Pros: Beachfront, pools and very close to shopping, restaurants and activities
Cons: Can be expensive
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The property was gorgeous, classically elegant Florida. Low key and no overcrowding! The beach was beautifully maintained and the beAch staff - especially Lane were so nice and attentive!
Cons: Restaurant service was spotty - the food was very good but even with low volume the service was not very attentive. We frequently waited a long time for service, had to ask for silverware, more water, etc.
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: On the beach, nice tennis courts and pool. Beautiful floors in the hotel lobby.
Cons: Very rude customer service. Rooms were not near as nice as shown in pictures. Very weird layout. There is a separate building they originally put us in. It was called a 2 bdrn suite but the bdrm had one small window that looked straight at the wall of the parking garage. The room also had a motel style exterior entrance. We requested a new room and got one in the main building, that was better but still poor for the price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is my 2nd time staying here. Me and my family enjoyed our stay so much last year, that we decided to stay again. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. We had the poolside room where you can see the beach, palm trees and pool. It was wonderful waking up every morning and sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee and just relax. We will definitely be staying again.
Cons: I don't have anything negative at all to say.

Pros: I like the location and amenities this resort has to offer. Even down to the juice bar at the lower level
Cons: This place was packed to maximum capacity. They had people by the packs lining every corridor, lobby and everywheee in between. I’ve never seen so many bell man carts stacked in a row anywhere. Thank goodness I had elite status and pre-signed in on-line for their mobile key. Or so I thought...we arrived at 5:30 pm and despite all this pre-check in key nonsense our room after a day of travel wasn’t ready and would be ready after a modest $175 dinner for 4 (2 adults and 2 children with one drink each) on their Casual next the pool fare. Yikes!

Pros: I found everything I needed. Laundry, detergent, breakfast, etc.
Cons: I liked everything.!!
7,1 Good
Pros: I like the size of the room, the proximity to the airport and cruise port.
Cons: The fact that its at a dead end street with no view of anything; the pool is small and need to be cleaned; & lack of access to fresh air in the room because the window in my rood cannot be open.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room and the facilities were nice, spacious and clean. We needed to stay for one night close to the airport and were pleasantly surprised by your chain as we usually stay at the Marriott hotels chain. JK
Cons: Despite liking the hotel very much, the restaurant was the weakest link. The staff was overwhelmed by handling the dinner hour (we didn't need breakfast service so we can't comment). Not sure whether it was only due to the storm in the East Coast and many travelers rerouted via different cities like us to get to our final destination up North or whether it is the same every night, however, it took time just to take our order. We were warned that it would take an hour (which it did) to get our food. Given the low complexity of the menu we were flabbergasted it took them so much time to prepare the food. I was ready to go to the kitchen to check out the inefficiencies. The waiters did a lot of legwork in vain as well. The billing should be simplified like we have it in Canada and also overseas with portable machines which would save them lot of time and running around. We don't understand why US is so behind in this aspect only perhaps the security worry. JK
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so efficient and everything ran so smooth without asking.
Cons: Even though the staff was very accommmedating they could have been warmer and friendlier.

Pros: Beautiful hotel and pool. Great staff
Cons: Got to the hotel late Sunday night. Not much to do at the hotel during the week.

Pros: The pool area made you feel like you were far away on an Island resort
Cons: The room lighting, not enough. Felt like it was cloudy outside bcs the rooms were dark. Need better lighting

Pros: The staff was very friendly and the pool was great
Cons: The construction work that is going on was woken up at 5am and 6am two days in a row from construction machinery and jackhammering
6,8 Good
Cons: Thought the mattresses were not that firm and comfortable. And if you have a king size bed include king size pillows with the bed . The pillows are so worn and small . Didn't like that the outside venue seemed abandoned not as many shops most things were closed while I was there . Was unaware there was construction. And after talking to a shop employee she said it's been torn up outside for so long and nothing has been done with the space . Definitely not the same fun place I visited several years ago. Seems like the outdoor area is getting rundown.

Pros: The location was great and the rooms were very nice! The wedding we attended was beautiful.
Cons: I had left a watch by the pool and checked with the front desk to see if anyone had turned it in. They simply said no and sent me on my way. However, when I checked at the pool restaurant, she asked me if the front desk had checked with lost and found. The front desk didn't even bring up lost and found as an option. Luckily, security had received the watch and we were able to get it back.

Pros: Location and suite we stayed in
Cons: The valet parking - over priced and under delivered

Pros: Great service, staff, food. Great location.
Cons: Hidden fees. Mandatory "resort fee" should be part of up front cost, not an "indicental" learn-about-it-upon-checkout fee. Wifi painfully slow.

Pros: It was a great location however service and staff were average. No one really went out of their way to be helpful.
Cons: We arrived at the hotel at 9 am and were not allowed into the room till 3pm. The jacuzzi tub had yellow water coming out of the faucet.

6,0 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: I would go back to the Riverside. But, I would only stay on the EAST side of the building and inspect the room carefully before accepting. Our room was in need of paint and repair. A charge for everything including parking. I still never figured out why there was no access to the mini bar in the room. In a hotel like this, I was expecting MORE.
5,7 Okay
Pros: I love the location and the fact it's an older "Florida" hotel
Cons: Making up the room was very late in the day. Carpet appeared to be stained and also in need of repairs. Surely a manager could be looking at each room on a weekly basis for items like this. Regular housekeeping staff are too rushed to even report items like that, although they should be able to mark it on a sheet somewhere. I also had A/C issues because of placement of furniture in the room. Once a chair was moved, the room cooled to a more comfortable temperature. There also seemed to be a lack of regular electrical outlets available. I realize it's an older hotel but that's something most travelers need.
3,4 Mediocre
Pros: I had a roof over head.
Cons: There were ants in my room. The gym was under construction but they never informed me. The front desk staff were less than courteous and were fighting when I arrived. The mattresses felt cheap. It was not a 300 per night experience.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Loved that it is right on Las Olas Blvd and that right around the corner is the river walk.
Cons: Staff were very nice I just felt they just didn't go out of their way. I really didn't like having to pay for parking.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean hotel, close to lots of restraunts in bars. We will be back we enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Hair in our food we had order d room service. It we let the hotel know and they refunded us our dinner so they had great customer service.

He lied to kayak about approval for an early checkout refund. We left anyways. The chair in our room was held together with gorilla glue, the a/c and fridge worked intermittently. Overall all of the inconveniences made it for a difficult first trip with our new baby. The hotel refers to itself as luxurious, but customer service and repairs to the inside of the rooms are greatly needed.

Pros: Great location. Comfortable bed and room.
Cons: Dated and worn out furniture and kitchen cabinets.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice large room and decor Hotel Pool and Lobby are very nice Restaurants are fun
Cons: Missing remote, room service book, etc. upon arrival and took about 45 min to bring it up. Food prices on room service menu. View of construction site with blocked view of ocean on "oceanview room"
6,8 Good
Pros: Great location right on the beach. Large, comfortable rooms. The staff allowed me to check in a few hours early since they had a clean room ready. Nightly turn down service with chocolates on my pillow were a nice touch.
Cons: Front desk staff was average. At best. At a hotel of this caliber I expected a lot more courtesy and friendliness. Broken shower. No available chairs at the pool TWO days in a row. No bellhop to carry my luggage. And no apologies when I told them about my underwhelming experience.
7,7 Good
Cons: No housekeeping No available chairs, etc for the beach

Cons: The parking and check in is inconvenient. Check out time is at 10am! Hotel has NOT updated it's furniture or stuff. Could hear everything from all other rooms. Bath-tub was old and "painted" to cover chips. not what I expected for the price!
8,2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice rooms. Very inviting!
Cons: Location was hard to find. Poor signage to the garage. Inaccurate signage in the parking lot.

Pros: Leaving
Cons: According to Marriott, rooms booked via Kayak are only available till 10am. At 9:45am, some brute knocked on the door like a police raid. I’ve never been so insulted. They also opened the door and started walking around! At 9:45am!!! No recourse, no nothing. As a Platinum Elite level Marriott member, I expect more. And shame on Kayak for burying this in small print. The room and building were atrocious.

Pros: Great location and view. Rooms nice size and clean.
Cons: Staff a little over whelmed by spring break crowd. Would have been nice to be warned about what the hotel was doing to accommodate the young crowd.

Pros: Close to the beach.
Cons: Front desk staff was not very nice to accommodate my request. Slow elevator service. Poor wall insulations in room, you can hear outside.

Cons: The fact that I got charged twice for this room. After I was charged by priceline for the room, the Marriot also charged me. I thus paid twice for the same room.

Pros: Our trip at the Marriott Beach Place was amazing. From the moment we checked in until we checked out. We received great service from every employee. We got to the hotel early and Ashley was able to get us into a room early. We had laughs on the elevator with the cleaning staff and the guy working in the lobby by the elevators was very friendly too. I forgot his name but I do remember that he is from Jamaica. And we had the absolute best time by the pool bar. Adan was fantastic! He was genuinely kind. He seemed happy to be there. We sat there for a couple hours one day and had the best time. He gave us some great suggestions on where to eat and hangout. We had dinner at a place that he suggested and it was amazing! Adan made our trip even more special. Thank you Adan! I really hope that he gets to see this review. There was construction going on at the hotel and at times it was noisy but the service was so good that we didn’t even care. I am a Store Director for a major retail company and I appreciate excellent client service and that is exactly what we received. Thank you to the entire staff. We had a wonderful weekend.
Cons: I can’t complain about anything.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: large and comfortable unit, friendly staff, safe, secure
Cons: The elevator is a disaster, esp. on check in days. The parking lot is a disaster

Cons: noise from upstairs bathroom hookers in back parking lot

Pros: - Hotel room was clean - The complimentary breakfast was good - Evening snack bar was pretty good
Cons: - The swimming pool was constantly out of towels, even though we saw no one else in the pool and this was over the course of 3-4 days - Hotel failed to auto extend the booking as we requested when we checked in (we were assured things were fine) and the actual day of the extension we talked to the person in charge of the desk in the morning and were assured that everything was fine. But my mother (who was sick in the room) was bothered 3 different times asking her to vacate until we made an angry call to the lobby about the same - The swimming pool was not cleaned very well and one day had newspapers littered within

Pros: Location of the hotel is great, beautiful pool and patio, Great staff overall.
Cons: The hotel is under heavy construction switching from Westin to Hilton So if you like the sound of pile drivers at 6h00am every morning.... Nothing was told or specified when we made our reservation that the hotel was a construction site!!! Not professional at all!

Pros: I stayed at this property 3 years ago. Then the hotel was a bit ragged and showing its age. Since Hilton has taken over they've done an amazing job fixing the hotel.
Cons: It's pricey but I was on an expense account

Pros: Location of hotel, Rooms were nice
Cons: Poor Customer Service 45 min line just to check into your room I understand it was Memorial Day weekend, but over staff and prepare for large crowds. We were a wedding and booked 95 rooms they did nothing to accommodate us. Trash was left in hallways for 2+ days Front desk wouldn't give us enough wrist bands for pool. I was overall shocked, very poor hospitality!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very nice pools and grounds, nice bathroom and comfortable beds, good TV selection, wonderful beach.
Cons: Part of the hotel is under renovation and we could not go outside to our balcony. They were all locked and dirty from the reconstruction. We have stayed here about 5 yrs ago and everything was perfect. Everything is still very well kept ,but the hotel is starting to show signs of wear. So, the renovation is on time. Finish date is Fall 2016. I can't wait to see it. We will be back. Hotel very crowded and busy this holiday weekend.

Pros: Pool area is fantastic, beachfront hotel and staff were accomodating and most of them freindly. very expensive to buy anything at the hotel. Room was not perfect but the beach view was memorable!! Worth the extra $$.

Overview Reviews
Sonesta Fort Lauderdale is a stylish property located across the street from Fort Lauderdale Beach. The hotel offers a memorable lobby with white, wavy walls and marble floors and pillars with alternating neon colors. Wedding parties are often held here due to the panoramic ocean views, but it’s also popular with couples and pre-and-post cruise hotel. The Sonesta Fort Lauderdale provides a great location directly across A1A Highway from Fort Lauderdale Beach. It’s right in the heart of the main strip and within walking distance of several restaurants. A state park, lovely gardens, and high-class shopping are also nearby. Most popular attractions are a short walk or ride away but destinations such as Boca Raton, Butterfly World, West Palm Beach, and Miami Beach are 30-to 60 minutes away. The variety of amenities at the hotel measure up to the upscale Fort Lauderdale Beach properties. There is an outdoor pool with a relaxing setting, a small gym with ocean views, and a spa suite offers treatments. The on-site elegant restaurant is a huge highlight. Breakfast is available and lunch and dinner menus consist of fresh seafood and a nice wine list. Two free welcome drinks are offered at the lobby bar or poolside bar, which also serve light food items. A 24/7 business center offers business travelers all they need, and the event space is perfect for meetings and weddings. The guestrooms at the hotel are modern but offer incredible ocean views and ample space. There is plenty of room for seating areas, desks, and armchairs. Standard in-room amenities include mini-fridges, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and some feature minibars. The room sizes range from Kings and large Double Rooms to 24 Suites and Junior Suites.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: This was a great place to stay. It was very nice and looked more modern than most of the hotels on the strip. Staff very friendly and helpful. Most rooms had a beautiful view of the ocean! The higher your room the better. Beds were very comfy. Room amenities: Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, ice bucket, 4 glasses, safe, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner/bath gel dispenser in shower, iron/board, mirrors on the closet doors, 2 bottles of water daily They also offered 2 welcome drinks from the bar upon arrival, free beach towels and 2 free beach chairs daily. Location: The location of this hotel was good for us. It is located at the corner of A1A and Sunrise Blvd. The beach was right across the street and this section of the beach wasn't as crowded. We did not need to rent a car. There was plenty of things within a block surrounding the hotel. There was a Thai sushi place, 24hr pizza place, Mediterranean/Vegan spot, deli/sandwich shop, ice cream, popcorn, Subway, 7 Eleven. There were also several souvenir shops, a pub and a couple of other small restaurants. We rented a scooter from Fun Rentals right behind the hotel so we could explore a little further. Great transportation without paying for valet parking. We also used the beach shuttle ($3/person). Other transportation options include Trolley ($1/ride), City bus (bus stop right out front), cab, Uber, bike rentals. The nightlife is about a mile south of the hotel (30 min walk) on A1A. The Galleria mall was about 1/2 mile west on Sunrise blvd...not far at all. Overall this was a great place and we would stay here again.
Cons: The pool was sort of small though. I would have liked a microwave as well though. Restaurant in hotel was kind of expensive so we never ate there.
5,1 Okay
Pros: The staff is friendly and accumulating. Easy access to beach front. Updated lobby and rooms. Near liquor store.
Cons: Don't worth the $200+ a night rate I paid. It looks and feels like an old Holiday Inn that was renovated. The view from the rooms of the beach is only a half view as the building is blocking the rest. The carpet was stained. The shower had mold on the grout and caulked in areas. The A/C only kicked on when it wanted to. The pool is the size of an above-ground pool. I paid the rate because the reviews and pictures looked appeasing but it turned out to be a front. Also, it is not an adult only hotel; many, many families present and being very loud and obnoxious. 2-star rating. Only stay here if you find a rate for under $100 a night. Very, very disappointed.

7,1 Good
Pros: The woman at the front counter was extremely helpful and friendly. She immediately saw our daughter who is two and offered to have us a crib sent up immediately. Hotel restaurant server was also excellent. Gave us great service and the food was great.
Cons: Seemed a little too "uppity" for our family. It always seemed as if someone was looking for a tip. My husband went down to get a luggage cart to take our bags downstairs and the guy wouldn't let him have the cart. Said it was a "liability". I've been to a lot of hotels and always used my own luggage cart. It's not a liability for heavens sake. It just means someone won't get a tip. Also the bed was not very comfortable but that's just a personal opinion. It could be very comfortable to someone else.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The rooms we got (upgraded automatically) was lovely and faced the beach. Even after moving due to the construction right above us, we kept the upgrade and we're moved into a room with an equally exceptional view. The staff was phenomenal, especially Suzette, who made sure we were moved quickly and with grace and comped us a pair of drinks and breakfast for the move, unprompted. Cleaning staff was accommodating to our schedule and every time we were still the front desk, we were greeted with a smile.
Cons: The building is under construction, which started fairly early (8 a.m.) so that wasn't our favorite. It was a bummer because that affected the on-site sushi restaurant as well as the fitness center (both were closed for the stay). Beach chair rentals are included in the resort fee, which is great- except that the attendant on the last day came up to us several times in a two-hour frame to let us know they "close" at 5 (or that they fold up the chairs then) and wasn't very friendly about it.

Pros: Did not like the “hidden” resort fee. The room was small, especially the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower way too low.

Pros: Across the road from the beach. Room was clean. The pool on the waterfront was cool. Water taxi came to the hotel and was only $26 for an all day pass.
Cons: The noise from the elevator. Only 3 doors down but still was quite loud. Area was away from the bars and restaurants. Needed to get an taxi to most places.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly, they recognized me by name every time I walked in the hotel. It was just a girlfriend and I staying here during our college spring break and we felt extremely safe while staying here which is important for a couple of females when in a place they have never been before. The pool area was somewhere we hadn't planned on using much since the beach is so close but we had some windier days while visiting so the pool was the perfect solution since it's more protected from the wind. The hotel is only a short walking distance from the boardwalk, restaurants, and Walmart so you have lots of stuff right close by if you don't have a car and don't want to pay for a cab. The hotel is also one of the stops for the water taxi so that can also get you most of the places along the board walk using that.
Cons: The $18 self parking fee per night was kind of ridiculous to me. I loved the fact that it had a security gate although people could still walk past it. The self parking area didn't have a side entrance so you had to walk back around to the front of the hotel which wasn't that far of a walk but what bothered me the most is it wasn't well lit area. Other than that though, we had an overall great stay!

Pros: The rooms are beautiful and very convenient walk across to the beach.
Cons: Nothing! It was amazing!

Pros: Location
Cons: - Broken elevators, so one had to go twice as long to get to the beach. - Unexpected $40 resort fees which did not even include beach umbrellas. - Lack of bathroom privacy in the room. Who in its right mind puts a window facing the room in the bathroom with only a small plank shutter. Overall this is a mediocre hotel at best. There are much better choices nearby like Hilton and W.

7,7 Good
Pros: Pool, easy access to beach, towel and toy rental, away from restaurant/bar strip, walking distance to cvs for essentials and alcohol, easy access to Sun Trolley and bus to get to stores, museum, downtown.
Cons: Expensive, resort fee, in-house restaurants served bad food and were very expensive, no close by family friendly cheaper food options, expensive beach chair and umbrella rentals, far from grocery store and other shopping
8,5 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, was never loud in the area. Beach is right out the front door. Great food within .5 mile walk. walk down to Las Olas for food and fun.
Cons: For a young couple, we still paid about 2x as much as our kayak rental. It is $40 a day to park your car, and it's only valet, it's unlimited use of your car, but then you add tips. There is a resort fee not included, which is not too expensive. And we did choose to pay $25 extra a night for a view, which was worth it. Pool food is not great, and service is slow-- but go down to Las Olas for food and fun.

Pros: Loved the hotel, clean and had a great room overlooking FTL beach
Cons: Surpise $35 a day resort fee, super overpriced room service, and crazy overpriced gift shop completely ruined the experience for me. They will gouge you when you get here. Stay away!

Pros: We were greeted as we got out of the car and as soon as you walk into the hotel there was fresh fruit infused water and Olympic cookies. Room was clean and big enough for our group. The pool staff was SUPERB! Our waiter, Emanuel, always made sure we were taken care of and Judy made sure we always had the best seats by the pool. The gym was well equipped and even offered cold towels and fruit. Plus there was a great view of the ocean. My group will stay here every time we are in the area!
Cons: $30 a day resort fee.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The room was quiet and clean and had the usual Westin amenities.
Cons: No one was at the elevator to the beach so anyone could use the pool and they did. It was ridiculously crowded with people not even staying at the hotel. I had the choice to pay more for a resort fee (35.00+10.00) for chairs on the beach except there were none. The bathroom door was a slider w a 2" gap along w shutters that faced the room which didn't close properly so little privacy in the restroom. The carpet was worn and rippled. The worst of it was the parking: 39.00 a day but at 9pm my partner was called into work. I wanted to return alone but they informed me I'd pay 39.00 + 25.00 for the time we had been there. 64.00 for one day is ridiculous. No self parking, so one is at the mercy of the valet Mafia. Never again. I am a Starwood member and have stayed at many of their properties but this was the worst experience I've ever had.

Pros: Loved the glass shower and beach front view from the balcony.
Cons: Long check in wait time.
4,2 Okay
Cons: You can dress a hotel up as much as you like but at the end of the day it's the little things that matter. No amount of cool design and edgy décor can cover up shoddy (and rude!) service, uncomfortable beds, loud and difficult to control air conditioning, or disappointing food and drink. The check in staff was rude, the cocktail waitress was rude and slow, the food at breakfast was cold, my room was hot and cold, and the bed had been made by someone who doesn't believe in tucking in a fitted sheet to eliminate wrinkles. Even at half the price it was a rip off.
