With a stay at Sleeping Boot Hostel in Hualien City (Hualien City Centre), you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Hualien Dongdamen Night Market and Tianhuitang. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a water dispenser.
Pros: The room was clean, also the bathroom. It was comfort and enugh space
Cons: The location is not great. You have a walk from the main station. Also the night market is pretty far. Sometimes there was nobody at the front desk and if u dont have a local number u cant reach them
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff Clean and well maintained Comfy bed Love the common area, nicely set up
Cons: Not that I can think of
Pros: The beds were comfortable, the aircon was strong and the facilities were clean, but the best part was the staff! They were so kind and helped me plan the rest of my trip in Taiwan. Would stay here again just to chat with all the staff members again :)
Pros: The staff, cleanliness, and community feel of the place. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Cons: Hard beds.
Pros: Really nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Good facilities, nice spacious dorm. Good location 10 mins walk from station.
Pros: Atmosphere and stuff are so nice.
Pros: The Hostel is simple, modern and calm, with a very good and relax energy. The dorms are comfortable. There's laundry facilities which is very convenient after hiking in Taroko. The staff is amazing and a good source of informations about Hualien and Taiwan in general, and always show available to help.
With a stay at Meci Hotel in Hualien City (Hualien City Centre), you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Hualien Dongdamen Night Market and Tianhuitang. Featured amenities include express check-out, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I very much enjoyed this hotel. The room was clean and airy, with a view out to the mountains. Fast wifi. Free coffee and snacks in the lobby lounge. Restaurants and stores nearby. The staff was wonderful, even setting up transportation to Taroko Gorge for me with a delightful taxi driver. The little dog at reception is a total sweetheart.
Cons: It is quite a trek to the parks on the Pacific, Pine Garden, and the big markets. I preferred being close to the train station for easier coming and going, however, and it was a quick five-minute walk through the park.
Pros: Clean, modernised, parking. Very very friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee / drinks and snacks in the lobby.
Pros: Nice lobby, awesome shower.
Cons: Small rooms. I left a day early due to having done what I wanted to in Hualien. I informed the staff the day before, after initial confusion, they promptly said no refund of the unused night. Oh well you win some you loose some.
Pros: Interior design of hotel Lobby.
Cons: Staff unfriendly, told me there is no breakfast served. Lift showed you pay 100 NTD per pax for breakfast. feel claustrophobic in their bathroom. Self-help with their toiletries - environmentally friendly is good but their staff is not warm, treated us just like another transaction.
Pros: The location is close to the train station. The hotel has a little snack area with drinks and snacks. It is well equipped with anything you needed. The room is a little small but it will do since we are out most of the time.
Pros: Location. Near train station
Cons: Room air-condition temperature is centralised. Too cold!
Pros: Facilities, accessibility, and comfort. I love the coffee and snacks.
Pros: Free parking behind the hotel. Free snacks and drinks at the receptions. Feels like a hostel.
Cons: There was a misunderstanding between the hotel and us as we selected the offer "double or twin room selected at the property" which in our understanding meant that we would be able to select it and not the hotel (if of course there were still available double rooms). Sadly the staff informed us that even though there were available double rooms we should pay more for it. Weird procedure for a hotel... A bit far from the city center (approx. Half an hour walking distance)
Pros: Very good location, 5min walk from the train station. Staff are nice and available, room is clean. They have an area where you can eat ans drink some snacks and sodas for free(as long as you don't take it out with you). They have also some games available.
Pros: -Excellent staff who are very helpful giving tips on where to eat and how to travel to Taroko gorge. -We got an upgrade from a twin room to a superior double room on check-in. Very happy with that. -Our room (a double room) was clean and had a large window to let in the sun and fresh air. -Hotel very easy to find from the train station. Basically on exiting the train station, via the east exit, turn right and head along the road for 5 minutes. The hotel is across the street. The hotel pops up on Google Maps in English. -Some decent places to eat in the locality. The “high street” is the road that runs perpendicular to the road the hotel is on. You’ll find lots of eateries along this road. There is a nice Vietnamese restaurant that I’d recommend. -PX Mart (supermarket) nearby for your odds and ends. - Free coffee and tea plus snacks provided free of charge by the hotel. -Bicycle and motorbike rental from hotel. -A decent location for day trips to Taroko gorge. To buy day pass tickets: Head back to the train station and while looking at the train station turn your head to the right and you’ll spot a large orange building (you cannot miss it) where you can buy tickets (1 or 2 day passes to the Taroko gorge) to the gorge. This is where the red buses disembark from. -Alternatively, rather than buying day passes, you can use an ipass or easycard, to jump on and off the buses. Just clock on when entering a bus and clock off when exiting. This method will allow you to use the white buses which disembark from Xincheng and service the Taroko gorge. (Aside: there are red and white buses servicing the Taroko Gorge along with countless tour buses and taxis. Red buses start from Hualien and white start from Xincheng). The day passes do not apply to these buses as these buses terminate in Xincheng.

Pros: The service was exceptional and the beds were comfy. They had a wide range of breakfast options. The location was very central and convenient as well.
Pros: The staff were excellent. Very attentive. Would get taxis for you. Rooms are huge and clean.
Cons: Location was about 10 mins off from the more bustling area. The toilet and the shower room/bathtub are apart. So sometimes you have to travel to and fro. The showering area is abit too small. Considering the huge area for the bathtub, could have made the showering area bigger.

Cons: Very good hotel, 3days @ Taroko Gorge awesome!!
Cons: The gym is not a gym - it's a room with a couple of running machines
Pros: Good size rooms, well appointed, well located.
Cons: Poor breakfast buffet
Pros: Everything’s awesome! The room was cozy and definitely enough for two people. And staff are all very nice to guide for anything. Location is perfect and right in the centre of city.

Pros: Location, comfort
Cons: Staff not so friendly
Pros: Near night market
Cons: We booked 3 rooms and all 3 rooms come with different size and layout. One of it is small, old and no window, this is really disappointed, what you book from the website is not what you get. This is when all 3 rooms are paying at the same rate. Really disappointed!
Pros: Very quiet, though close to markets and shops. Breakfast is also nice. Staff is helpful.
Cons: A little far from the station, but at the center of shopping markets.
Pros: Very spacious room, excellent facilities for kids & adults, courteous staff and very good breakfast

Pros: Location is good, the staff is nice and room is comfortable.
Pros: Reputation of Regent’s Hotel
Pros: Excellent service, comfortable and spacious rooms. Very happy with the upgrade to one of the bigger corner. rooms.
Cons: Some of the staff speak English, but it is limited. There is no information about the Taroko park.
The Home of Traveller II offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi in Hualien. Local tour information is available at the homestay, which is a 10-minute walk from Hualien Railway Station. Pine Garden is a 10-minute drive from The Home of Traveller II while it takes approximately 15 minutes to drive to the scenic area of Qixingtan, Hualien Airport and Dongdamen Night Market. Taroko National Park is a 40-minute car ride away. All rooms have a flat-screen cable TV, seating area and dressing table. Certain rooms have a private bathroom with shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. Guests have access to a common dining area, living room and outdoor rooftop seating area.
Pros: Very clean place! :)) The room was nice and pretty big.
Pros: Everyting is fine.
Pros: > Clean: - You have to leave your shoes downstairs, I guess it is easier this way. - Almost empty facility which was strange but a plus. > The bed was comfortable, nice bedding and floor. > No breakfast option but there are 2 places nearby (cheaper and more expensive). > The check-out was very easy, we just left he facility (we had go to very early).
Cons: > The room was made as something additional on the corridor - if there were more people you would hear everything through the thin paper "wall" and the little top window glass was moving and making sound every time someone was walking. > We were put at the top floor - no elevator. >There was a shared bathroom but I knew about it upfront - it is just to be aware.
Pros: Very cosy, beautiful, comfortable hotel with some nice, thoughtful touches! Run by some very helpful and kind people. Clean, Central and cheap :)
Cons: Light switches OUTSIDE the room! I guess it happens easily that someone accidentally wakes you up at night by turning it on looking for the stair well light.
Pros: Best of the best. Excellent room for such a low price. The owner also provides connections to local taxi/mini-van drivers that can take you to the wild nature of Hualien. It is often more difficult and dangerous to get such services outside, not to mention the burden of finding other travellers for car-pool. Costed 700 NTD per person to Toroko national park.
Pros: Nice staff who welcomed us. The room was perfect and the bathroom too. We slept pretty well. Couldn't extend our stay cause it was too expensive for us but if we could we would have!
Cons: Check in late and check out early. It was a little bit noisy when people walked in the corridor or slaped doors cause it made our inside window moved. Free coffee not vegan (it's 3 in 1 with milk and sugar).
Pros: Friendly, helpful owners. I was thinking of fruits one night and without mentioning it, they brought me a plate. More the next night. Just like home.
Pros: The owner was really nice and helpful, good English. Hotel is nice. Enough furniture in the room. Walking distance from the railway station. Drinking water available.
Cons: Cocroaches. I could smell cigarettes from bedsheets a little bit.
Pros: Great location. The stuff was really nice, they helped us with everything we needed. The room was big, comfortable and clean. Definitely worth the money.
With a stay at Classic City Resort in Hualien City (Hualien City Centre), you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Hualien Dongdamen Night Market and Farglory Ocean Park. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice and clean hotel at a very close distance from the train station. Room was relatively large and quiet. Staff was very friendly and even though not all spoke English, each of them did their very best too communicate and be helpful. Also a very nice breakfast.
Cons: Not much too dislike, it's good value for money. The location is very convenient with respect to the train station, but not to the city. There are several options to get to the centre, and if you don't mind walking for a small 30 min, it is a nice walk though the city.
Pros: Great location if you want to be near train station! Very comfortable hotel!
Cons: No pool but othe than that it was great!!
Pros: Nice, clean and comfortable room, with a good and very large bed. Free coffee and water in the lounge. Friendly and helpful staff and free bikes to use, even after checkout.
Cons: We booked the ‘eco friendly room’ and upon arrival found out that this meant that no soap, shampoo or even towels were provided in the room. At the reception, we were informed we could pay extra for those items. Even though we agree that these individually packaged toiletries are detrimental to the environment, we couldn’t see how providing us with a soap/shampoo dispenser, would be more harmful to the environment than us bringing our own. And we would expect a four star hotel to provide at least towels. Except if Classic City Resort expects environmentally conscious people to all be unwashed smelly people, of course. But in that case they could have skipped providing the shower altogether. We couldn’t help but notice that the hotel in their own administration described the room not as ‘eco friendly’ but as ‘extra cheap room’. But surely the hotel would not be cynical enough to use the environment as a marketing tool, now would they?
Pros: the location was very convenient for walking from station to hotel if you are traveling by walking. the breakfast was good and the dishes were changing and a little bit different, it's easy but considerable for customers.
Cons: the price was a little bit expensive and the room was too small. the shampoo and the shower gel were not enough to use.
Pros: The breakfast has quite a lot of choices, the waiter very polite
Cons: The toilet seat pretty cold,.should install a bidet mixer. The lights in the room very dim.
Pros: Location - about 450 m from train station. About 2 kms frok night market Staff v friendly and happy to Assist with queries that I had

Pros: The staffs ate all very helpful and polite
Pros: The staff is very friendly, and tried their best to help accommodate all our needs.
Cons: The room was not clean, especially the bathroom. There was mildew and mold in the showers and ceiling area. The size of the room was overall small. No amenities are provided unless you ask.
Pros: The jimmy drawing makes very kid friendly environment with a big half of third floor opened to kid play area gives the parents a break.
Cons: I came at the wrong time where they closed the swimming pool for winter time otherwise everything else was very clean, organized and well equipped. The website should clearly state the availability of the facilities especially in English to avoid miscommunications.
Pros: Not euopean 5 Star Standart but a reasonable Hotel nontheless
Cons: the air conditioning was loud
Pros: Kids friendly hotel & great location.
Cons: Building is quite old

Pros: Minimal gym facility and pool.
Pros: Good clean hotel with a decent room and nice pool. All members of staff were excellent throughout my duration and very helpful/accommodating.

Pros: Room was ok and relatively clean.
Cons: The location is horrible, there is nothing around and you have to take a taxi to the center if you dont want to walk for 40 minutes.
Cons: Hear noises from the next room
Pros: The value is worthy for the price. All the things are perfect. They have good breakfast. When I arrived, staff also came outside for helping me carrying luggage. There is a spa at the rooftop. Service and attitude of front desk are nice.
Cons: Couldn’t have the ocean view, but high floor still have good view. Also there are bicycles can be rented. For free!
Pros: Best value fir money
Cons: The bfast is just average
Pros: Value for money. Buffet breakfast was very good and had a variety of choices.
Pros: Spacious very comfortable room, with great breakfast selection.
Cons: The hotel is about 35 minutes from the main area with the main attractions, night market, restaurants, cafe’s and bars although there were a few restaurants on the road leading up to the hotel. Went in October and the restaurants were empty on Zhongmei road. The hotel says it has a pool and garden on the rooftop however the rooftop was unkept and the pool was an empty corner jacuzzi.
Pros: I've stayed here previously and found it great, hence I came back. Great location for my needs, the rooms are also fantastic and big. Only had the breakfast a few times as I was often out the door early but each time it was good. I'd stay there again and probably will do. 7/11 across the street for snacks! Very helpful staff at all times.
Cons: No complaints, everything was good. I have no reason. I don't speak any Mandarin, maybe if I did that would have made things easier when speaking to the staff, but its barely worth mentioning.

Pros: The staff was extremely nice and helpful!!! and the breakfast was very nice.
Cons: The room looked a little bit old, and this is the hotel we paid the highest amount for. So compared to the photos, the room was disappointing.
Pros: Excellent staff. They came and picked us up feom the train station at no charge after phoning them from the visitor center, and the staff went out of the way to help us with booking train tickets, providing us with suggestions, and even taking us back to the train station. Loved my stay with them

Cons: Lots of small flies around and soft mattress
Pros: Clean, spacious and within walking distance of the city centre and night market.

Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Pros: Location, price, cleaness!
Pros: The rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious. Very comfortable.
Cons: The breakfast was truly terrible. Best to skip it and go elsewhere for breakfast. This was the worst we had experienced on our trip. For the price paid, I suppose it's not unforgivable, but it would perhaps be better to offer less options at the buffet and concentrate on the quality.
Pros: Good Hotel, friendly Staff, comfortable beds.
Pros: A great hotel! We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was spacious and suited our family (2 kids). The location was perfect, with a short walk across the road to big mall, and a convenience store 100m away. Staff were very friendly, and the hotel was equipped with coin operated washing machine and dryer. A great choice for Hualein as a base to explore Taroko Gorge :)
Pros: Room ok, but with exclusively taiwanese sockets
Cons: Staff forgot to tell you hello and good bye and was generally unpleasant. Breakfast hardly better, especially on the 2nd day as it seemed they were just giving us again the leftovers of the day before
Cons: Breakfast could be better
Pros: Many good restaurants and convenience stores within 3 minutes from the hotel. Warm and friendly staff Nice spread of Taiwanese buffet breakfast
Cons: The curtain width was not sufficient enough to close properly leaving a gap for sun rays to pass through in the morning. Waking me up earlier than planned.

Pros: Hotel staff were so nice and very quick response for trouble. I think the hotel have best staff i've seen in several last years.
Cons: Swimming pool required cap for swimmer strictly. I think it's not that important.
Pros: Large room, good value
Cons: The staff could speak more English.
Pros: The original decoration. Minority group art. Clean. Friendly staff. Peaceful.
Cons: Breakfast was not ideal to foreigner's taste. Bed lacking soft top mattress. The decoration was out-dated (but nice). The view was to industrial harbor, and no chance to access the beach.
Pros: the environment of restaurent.
Cons: the receptions did not act well at first and i should remember them twice! breakfast had not some western choices.
Pros: The hotel front as photo shows clean and modern but the bathroom/carpets need maintenance. But hotel rate with breakfast, is exceptional value! The room is clean and as 3 star hotel cannot complain. The view from the breakfast restaurant overlooking the beach is impressive!
Cons: The issue would be location. It is not in town and a walk to anything. One has to book a taxi or walk to anywhere. The room does not have coffee and only chinese tea for in room drink. Buffet breakfast is ok but peak hour with bus loads of Chinese tourists, the buffet gets emptied quicker than the staff can replenish the food. If not in a hurry, the replenish and cleaning catches up when the tour bus departs.
