Pros:
Comfortable and quiet, but nothing to write home about.
Cons:
There is a hidden 28% tax after you reserve. The breakfast sucks (the breakfast at Island Life Hostel is much better, actually. They offer scrambled eggs, beans, waffles, toasts, natural oj, etc).

Staff was wonderful, I had issues trying to get Uber for 5am flight. No one would pick up my request. The young Lady at front desk, went above and beyond to help me. I think her name was Yesica.
Cons:
The Curfew, which had nothing to do with the hotel. I was looking forward to eating at the restaurant, but it was closed.

Pros:
How hard everyone was working to make every guest happy from the security guard, housekeeping, front desk and management. Good job guys definitely you will see me again in October.
Cons:
I don’t have anything bad to say about my stay there. View the problem we are facing right now with the virus. I believe that the staff has done an extraordinary job by policing those who didn’t wear their face mask so every guest and staff can be safe.

Pros:
Great location for business. Very modern facility. NFC activated elevator and the room gains power with your room key. Staff is very welcoming and eager to help. Internet works, specially in the dinner up stairs. Beds sheets are clean. Through the room, there are well placed complimentary water bottles, including one in the bathroom and several more in the small refrigerator. Room has a kitchenette, coffee machine and towel robes. Spacious & modern bathroom with beautiful fixtures and hot water. Overall, rooms look very modern, staff is very friendly, location is pristine, Continental Breakfast is very good and the view from the dinner is wonderful. If you're looking to spend a night or two near the city, this can go on your list for up to $80/night.
Cons:
Unclear and confusing entrance to the hotel from the main street. Night staff is not trained as well as the daylight staff. Staff would not inform of the room key operations (NFC). Internet is slow in the rooms and cuts off very often. Beds are lower than expected and the room isn't as clean as it might look. The chair of the desk is kind of uncomfortable to work on it as it is not a desk chair but one of those plastics with metal you would use at a party. I found several instances of long hair, apparently from previous guests on the carpet. The bathroom had stains on the floor and there were residues of someone who probably threw up near the lower left side of the bathroom door. Also, the beautiful sink fixtures were in need of a dry cloth swipe and the shower head had mold and water residues accumulated on it. Although bathrooms are modern and spacious, the shower glass that protects the water from flooding the floor, is too short, so water do goes out into the bathroom floor. In all, this hotel has the infrastructure to be a very good little gem but small management details need to be addressed first. Just then, it'll be worth more than $80 per night.

Pros:
For "Santo Domingo" this hotel is fairly priced for it's star rating. It's an older building, but recently renovated and redesigned inside. The lobby and rooms are modern with new baths (CAUTION: slippery shower tiles!). The rooms and public areas are clean. Even though the hotel is facing a main avenue (27. Febrero), the rooms are surprisingly quiet.
Cons:
I know Santo Domingo well, the location is "OK" if you just stay overnight or are OK with taking a taxi to most everything. There are NO good dining opportunities besides the hotel restaurant. The two malls at "walking distance" are some of the older malls and only have food courts and the better of the two may be too far a night. The hotel restaurant is food wise OK. Sadly the staff is too busy checking their messages on their cell phones and discussing them with each other. I had to get up from my table twice. Getting some coffee and desert after dinner, took 15 mins to get a waiter. Another 30 mins after TWO warnings (the last one ALOUD across the room offering to either bring the coffee and pastery in one more minute or the Chef... 2 mins later we finally got the coffee and pastery). Breakfast buffet is "OK" but again the "service" is lacking training and supervision. Storing bags for a few hours after check out is interesting again. The desk manager has a room for it, but no clear process, has to find some paper and scribble on it. Checkout is another point of discussion. People checking out before us criticized and questioned the transparency and clarity with which the credit card "security hold" was being handled. This is typical in Dominican Hotels! My advice is NOT to use any extra services or pay them cash against a receipt. So that the deposit/hold/freeze can simply asked to be canceled. While there were 3 people at the front desk, only one was handling customer flow. The manager seemed busy with himself and an other "customer assistant" was very busy ignoring customers. All in all, it seems there needs to be training, training, training and supervision. While the rooms are fairly freshly renovated, some of the materials used are not commercial grade, and some are just not appropriate or safe, which is typical for Latin America. The shower floor tiles are not meant for wet areas and are extremely slippery (a rubber mat is included, USE IT!). The room furniture is already showing signs of suffering from the humidity (electrical power in the DR is very expensive, so they turn the AC off when nobody is using the room.... composit board can't handle the humidity, and I am afraid it won't age well under commercial use and abuse). At our room's bath room entry there is an un-framed person-sized mirror FLOATING on pins. Anybody falling, or leaning on the mirror will break it and may be badly hurt. Keep in mind, weather you are American or what ever you are, the DR has no liability laws like the US. So use caution... not just at this hotel!
