Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything, this hotel is immaculate and honestly seemed reasonably priced (maybe even cheap!) in the bar and restaurant for the quality. We would have stayed here for at least one extra night if we had known it would be so great.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Perfect.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Breakfast was great! I loved the service at the beach. Staff brings towel to you & I didn’t have to return the towel or be responsible for it. Cushions on beach chairs were very comfortable. No bracelet to prove your a guest.
Cons: I think housekeeping could’ve done a better job replacing towels.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It is a small boutique hotel with all the amenities available. A great place to unwind and relax.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The best hotel and staff
Excellent 10,0
Pros: From the moment you arrived, you are welcomed with a smile and professionalism. The decor and art is stunning. We stayed in the Junior Suite Lanai with Ocean Front and our room was cleaned and smelled so good there was even a fruit basket to welcome us and the view from our room was stunning. The pool area is very nice and something different. We went to several resorts in the Dominican and went to every Spa to get a couple massage BUT Bagua Spa is the BEST we ever experienced- well done to the ladies !!! We look forward to come back and stay longer.
Cons: There is nothing to dislike really!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything was perfect and clean. Staff was great

Pros: Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Puerto Plata and I have been to five of them. Gorgeous views, courteous staff, all your needs addressed, good food, only place I have stayed as a resort/hotel that actually has Dominican food.
Cons: It was not all inclusive. Food and drinks are seperate. However the prices are reasonable and the week was cheaper than I expected. Next time knowing that I will just budget differently.

Pros: Excellent value hotel in great location
Excellent 10,0
Pros: First, the location is great walking distance to everything. Second, the onsite restaurant has excellent food and a wonderful social hour. Third, as mentioned earlier the rooms are airy and clean and I would recommend the larger room for an additional $15-20 per night. Lastly, the owner is very accommodating. I will return on my next visit.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Excellent places and hospitality
Excellent 10,0
Pros: What an amazing place! I needed to move out from the terrible place that I rented on Kite beach and it was in the middle of the night. This was the only hotel that answered the phone and let me check on at 11 pm at night. Vadim, the hotel owner was so hospitable and supportive. The room was fantastic with very comfy pillows, I had an amazing coffee and great wi-fi while here, just all I needed after encountering with a nightmare on the Kite beach. Thank you Vadim!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel room came with stove, fridge and microwave. Any utensils you needed you could ask for no problems. They provided huge pool towels and a clean pool, all the chairs had mattresses very comfy! Most important Vadim provided a professional life jacket for our 5 year old...this was a very welcome surprise for us. Vadim and Elhena were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to ensure we were having a nice time even on the rainy days. There is a lovely restaurant that delivers to the hotel, food is excellent prices very reasonable. Good food onsite and cold SOV beer. We felt very safe our entire stay at this little boutique hotel. I would recommend this hotel for large or small parties/weddings/anniversaries or 50th birthday celebrations.
Cons: Hmmm...
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Hosts are amazing people. They find solution to all your problems. You feel very welcome there. Very clean and well kept property. Quiet location. Hotel is bit far from main beaches and other comforts, so its not for those who like to be in the center of action.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Amazing property and great staff! We will stay here again!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It was exactly like on the pictures with a little more mature garden. Clean, wonderful soft white bed linen. Very tastefully furnished (it is IKEA, but not the cheapest range). I think it is probably the nicest little hotel in the Dominican Republic, certainly Sosua. It is as quiet as can be - far enough from the party place. We did not need the air con, the rooms were quiet, breezy and the balcony has a nice roof (shade). The whole place is immaculate. Alina and Vadim are very nice and pretty much always there for any questions one might have. I has a very decent size swimming pool, which is great when the sea is rough. It is also quite deep (for the jumpers), if a little cold for that reason. I am very glad that we chose this hotel and would highly recommend it.
Cons: There is a kitchen, but there is nothing in it. We asked for plates etc. and there was no problem to have them. But it would have been good if there was a coffee maker at least. There was free coffee in the morning, but it was a bit hit and miss and cold.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything was great! Very nice and helpful people, well located, close to the center, property is neat, cozy and very clean. Wll definitely come back!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel was very clean, and the staff was extremely friendly. The rooms were spacious and comfy. We really enjoyed our time there, and will return.

Excellent 9,0
Pros: Staff was very attentive. Followed all Covid related protocol. Food and drinks were great. Beach and pool were very close. Sufficient parking.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Great breakfast, setting, service / friendly staff. A fine arboreal environment with singing birds and other sounds of nature. Very few guests these days, except on weekends.
Cons: The phone didn't work. They offered to switch rooms; I elected to stay in the same room.
Good 6,0
Pros: A la carte breakfast, Golf course right beside the hotel. Comfortable beds.
Cons: Rooms: very old, broken and shabby furnitures, Very noisy AC. Ceilingfan wobbling. Bathroom old. Hotel overpriced. Nothing to do with deluxe room.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Very calm, beautiful hotel and the surroundings, great beach and good food
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything
Cons: The service was outstanding
Okay 5,0
Pros: Some of the staff were nice.
Cons: Was told it was all inclusive and it wasn't. Food was just OK. Facilities were fair. Pool was disappointing. Room was disappointing.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Close to the beach
Cons: Not All inclusive. Bar tender always missing from the bar in the pool.
Excellent 8,6
Pros: 1. Proximity to beach 2. The staff was amazing and friendly, very accomodating 3. Pool was great 4. Restaurant onsite was great 5. Could pay for things with credit card 5. Room was nice
Cons: 1. Proximity to beach was good but Playa Dorada is far from the main City of Puerto Plata, so a cab costs 17$ if arranged by the hotel (or $35 round trip)... you can negotiate in town for cheaper though 2. The hotel is great, but again the location may be kind of boring if you are looking to go into quickly/cheaply at night... good for families or people who just want to relax 3. There is no where to buy some snacks, beers, etc (like a mini mart or colmado) to bring back to your room. They do have room service and you can get drinks at their bar til 12am (reasonably priced too) but if you want some other snakcs and such on hand you will have to go into town.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: The property was small but offered a lot of activities. Great for couples! Very relaxing!
Okay 4,0
Cons: Of the very many beautiful places on the island, puerto plata is low of the list. Go to Las Terrenas or Santo Domingo instead. If looking just for a beach or all-inclusive tourism, go to Punta Cana. Puerto plata is isolates by mountains and has bad infrastructure - our hotel has no Wifi and loses power and water frequently.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The food was real good and staff was very friendly.
Cons: No hot water in shower. TV not working well and they charge for WiFi.
Excellent 9,0
Cons: pool tables in bad condition. footsball table poor condition. ping pong table should be in the garbage.
Good 7,5
Pros: Good value for money. Clean. Good for kids.
Cons: Food was mediocre. No WiFi except in one sitting area. Had to pay extra to have WiFi in the room and then only for one device. Not enough entertainment options.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Wonderful people working there. I love it.
Cons: The wifi it's not free.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything was very good, excellent service, a lot of variety of food and really good taste, Christmas decoration was very pretty, room and environment were clean, I love the experience, in general, I would like to stay a little longer.
Cons: The smoking area was very close to the buffet, I think it should be separate or where the wind can not bring the smoke to the buffet. That was the only negative part.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Exquisite service Professional etiquette Great friendly staff
Cons: Loved it, will definitely return
Excellent 8,8
Pros: This is a lovely resort, very clean and the with wonderful friendly staff. I would definitely go back. Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. Thank you to all the staff for treating us so well.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: This was my second time staying here and it is 100% better. The rooms are updated and they are really nice, the restaurant was updated and that too was really nice. The food was amazing! We are very well. The entertainment was cute and funny, the whole family enjoyed it. Most of all, the staff were all amazing. Everyone always had a smile on their face and they were always eager to help. We had 13 people and the moved tables, chairs so we could all eat together. They even sang to my sister in law for her birthday. Great place, we'll be back again next year!
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The food was great at the buffet, the room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was very friendly at all times.
Cons: I didn't like that there is no club inside the actual hotel. My boyfriend and I wanted to go dancing and we had to go outside the hotel to get to the nearest club. But overall it was a really good experience, I would go back
Good 7,1
Pros: The food was great! The pool was large and fairly clean. Good air conditioning in the rooms. Energetic activities staff.
Cons: The beach was so windy we couldn't sit there. Hard to find -- no sign in front of hotel or on the street. The shows were mediocre at best -- not always family friendly. Hard to get a reservation to one of the restaurants. The free internet in lobby was frustrating and rarely worked.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I was attending a Wedding Vow Ceremony and upon arrival to departure Everyone was very polite friendly with the best attitude. Food deliciously prepared, my suite was very clean, furnished appropriately and very comfortable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: From the friendly reception to the beatiful facilities, great food and we'll appointed room, this resort is excellent. The staff is very well trained. The dancers in the evening traditional Dominican dance show were excellent. I stayed in the VIP portion of the resort and it was a great atmosphere. Stinning architecture throughout. From the moment I checked in until when I checked out, I kept telling myself, I must come back again.
Cons: All good.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Service and food was excellent.
Cons: Night club not included, and needed more animation.
Good 6,8
Pros: I liked that the pool had a bar n the beach was walking distance. They had shows every night. It was a fun night.
Cons: I didn't like that the authenticity of the national foods was very poor. But it was ok.
Excellent 9,4
Pros: I was pretty pleased. I like the design and set up of everything. I liked the beach huts that protect you from the sun and the pool was very nice. Maybe it just wasn't very busy when we went (May 19 - 24) but I didn't think it was too crowded and could always find a chair by the pool or a hut on the beach. I found plenty of food to keep me satisfied. Restaurant food was really good. Be sure to take advantage of being able to eat at each one once a week. This was my first all inclusive - I found it to be well worth the money for my group of 3, sharing 1 room with 2 beds. They have a stone called Larimar, only found in the DR, which is beautiful shades of blue, the beach vendors have a lot of lovely larimar jewelry - I highly recommend getting a piece for yourself. Negotiate but remember the individuals selling stuff only get a cut of the profit and they most likely have families to feed. I bought from a few. If you are looking for jewelry, ask for Julio and tell him Cara sent you!
Cons: Beds weren't very comfortable but not horrible either. Not good for side sleepers - that's for sure, but not as bad as some reviewers made them out to be. I brought my own pillow too based on some of the reviews I read. Some of the staff was not too friendly. Learn some Spanish if you don't know any, that helps increase their friendliness and helpfulness towards you. One helper in the dining room pressured me to drink alcohol which I found really annoying, but that was only 1 guy out of many others who were very friendly and helpful. With some dishes it was difficult to tell if there was meat in them, it would be nice if they added ingredient lists at the buffet but the "healthy" section that contained 3 meatless options always had something I liked so I was pleased. The music at night was kind of annoying when trying to go to sleep early, but I'm pretty sure it never went past midnight. The people selling stuff on the beach can be extremely annoying/presistent, but I don't blame really blame them because they are doing what they can to get by.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE WE HAD HAD AT A HOTEL. WE WILL NEVER FORGET IT!!!
Cons: WE LIKED EVERYTHING. THANK YOU!!!!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I LIKED EVERYTHING!!!!!
Cons: EVERYTHING WAS EXELLENT!!
Good 6,5
Pros: Location: Within 15 – 20 minutes of the airport. Near 2 other hotels and a golf course, 2 mini malls with a restaurant and a few shops. Room: We stayed in the Catalina building in room 2203 and it was great and very clean. They provided a hair dryer, shampoo / conditioner, shower cap, soap, etc. and the bathroom was spotless. There was a closet with shelves in the front and there was also a balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was very comfortable and there was a flatscreen TV and a desk. There was also air conditioning which made the experience very comfortable. Atmosphere: There were A LOT of families, senior citizens and spring breakers at this resort. The pool was large, gorgeous with a swim up bar and a great temperature. Since this is an all-inclusive resort the drinks were free as well the food. They offered many activities throughout the day including water aerobics, pineapple toss, dance class, etc. They also have a section for kids as well as nightly entertainment (i.e. magic shows). Most of the chairs at the pool are claimed by 8am with towels, so get down there early! There is direct beach access, which gets very crowded with chairs by 11am. There are A LOT of beach vendors but if you pretend you’re sleeping or say “no thank you” they’ll leave you alone. The water is clear and warm. There’s also a private beach which you get with the upgraded package, but we decided not to pay an additional $40/night per person. Also, they say free Wi-Fi but it’s only in the “theater area” and barely connects. You have to pay for it in your room.
Cons: Staff: Very mixed results. Some staff was super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy and had everything to make our stay enjoyable, while others acted like they couldn’t be bothered. I would like to see management create a consistent experience across all of their staff. For example, I had an allergic reaction to the shellfish (I wasn’t allergic prior... may have been the type of squid served) and my girlfriend we went to find me Benedryl. We went to both gift shops and they were EXTREMELY unhelpful. My girlfriend said my face was swollen and she was in a panic to get me medicine and one of cashiers was on the phone on a personal call hanging out and was no help at all. Luckily another guest told us there was a mini mall down the street that had a pharmacy where we could get Benedryl (ended up paying $11 for 12 tablets which was more $$ than normal). PS I'm fully healed :) Food: The food was terrible. Although it’s all-inclusive, we found the food to be inedible. The breakfast offered an omelet station your choice of green peppers, tomatoes, cheese, ham and corn or fried eggs and those were good. They also have a smoothie bar and if you ask for the “smoothie especial” they’ll give you an amazing creation by one of the staff. For lunch we ate salad with olives and chickpeas. The beef is extremely tough and fatty and the pasta was rubbery. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the grounds of the hotel and the meal was just as bad (the meal was included in the all-inclusive package).
Okay 4,5
Pros: Only redeeming factor is that it is relatively decently built though even that is generous - the taps were rusty etc
Cons: horrible food and super sugary drinks that barely have any alcohol in them terrible service and unhelpful staff my package said wifi was included but they shut it off after 1 day and then told me to pay for it - only free wifi in one common area of the resort also, as an example, getting a bottle of water was an ordeal. i ordered one multiple times and then finally got one 4 hours later overall, they barely provide the basics and try to upsell you on every thing. definitely find another resort for the same money or pay a little extra to go to a better place.

Pros: The resort was very good and nice the food good and the are nice but the day I arrived was raining to much lol but everything was good here
Cons: The area everything was good
Okay 5,0
Pros: The quiet pool was good. Food selection was quite average. And on the beach there was construction going on next to the hotel, so there was a lot of noise all the time.

Good 7,1
Cons: The upgrades are not worth the money
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The best quality food that I’m ever tried and very terrific place.
Okay 5,0
Pros: The tasty of food was good, the pool and beach excellent
Cons: They don’t have enough different food
Good 6,7
Pros: Beat part of the beach playa Dorada Close to the beach Bartender and waiters are very nice. The girl on the beach in the morning. Adrianu, Bénédite (cleaning room of my parents), Santo.
Cons: Buffet and shows on night are not like before. They charge us 20$ to check in 1 hour earlier. We are use too my family and I to go often to the BlueBay. I’ll go back tomorrow. I would appreciate to be able to have the bracelet even if it’s earlier. Variety of the food. It’s always the same. Our room wasn’t super clean and we had a very hold room. There is room more recent. We wanted to invite a friend to eat on night and it was 75$ US. It amazing expensive.
Good 7,1
Pros: Good food
Cons: Drinks alcohol so bads
Excellent 8,5
Cons: Well I noticed in the reviews that the only problem was the front desk and food. Front desk totally sucks but I do not believe it is intentional. We stayed in 9 hotels in 2 weeks traveling the island. This is a problem at every single one. I fo think it was mote the technology then the humans. Either way, it just seems as though that's how the Dominican Republic operates. So just be patient and just expect to wait, or have to CONTINUOUSLY have to go back to the front desk. (8 times for us in the 3 days we were there) but it was worth it. Beautiful property, beaches, employees, and good enough food for us!! Have fun, kick back, and enjoy your vaca
Mediocre 3,1
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Staff
Excellent 9,7
Pros: Staff treats you like family. Great spa
Okay 4,0
Pros: The beach and the staff (excluding the lobby)
Cons: lobby staff was not trained, wanted me to pay again for a paid in full reservation because they didn't want to call Kayak to check. "Superior room" was really a good enough to sleep room, the bathroom's tiny shower clogged where, while showering" I had to turn off the water every 5 mins and wait for 10 mins to turn on again, room phone was not functioning, deteriorated facilities, not enough staff, pools were all shallow the deepest I think was 4"9 and this is an adults only resort. The food was D+. I will never go back!
Excellent 9,7
Pros: Small but cute, room was awesome, food there are not too much variety but pretty good flavor on everything.
Good 7,1
Pros: The staff was very accommodating when we had complaints
Cons: The food was not that great. They told us there were 3 restaurants on the resort for dinner but only one was open the entire time we were there. WiFi was super overpriced.
Okay 5,1
Pros: The staff was very friendly and responsive. Antonia at the spa was a fabulous masseuse.
Cons: We are from Vegas and know what good/great accomodations and food are all about. This is a sub-par property. For the price I marked it as Okay. The bed was hard and the pillows felt like bags of golf balls. They need to find a chef who knows how to cook. The food was aweful. Two nice pools and another for "members' only but no jacuzzi on the property.
Okay 4,5
Pros: Beach front is gorgeous. Best part of the resort!
Cons: Rooms were not super clean. You could tell the place needs some serious work done. Food was mediocre and so were the drinks. Definitely a party atmosphere. Not what we expected and we will not be returning.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The animation team was excellent treated me like the new me for years great people check out Coca-Cola he was hilarious
Cons: Just love the way they treated me food was good but the place treated me like family I will go there again try it out
Mediocre 3,7
Cons: When they checked me in my room which was marginal at best...the door was wide open to the outside allowing Mosquitos to enter . The room was loaded with them!!! Rather then giving me another room, they brought in a can of raid.I then took control and sprayed the the place down. I then left for a few hours and on return...more Mosquitos to find.I then learned that the windows, behind the drapes had been left open as well in both the bedroom and bathroom....I sprayed again then left for a few more hours.they said that they wood deliver a can of Raid to the room and leave for me to use as needed.i got caught up in the activities provided and didn't return to my room until midnight.Yes...more mosquitos flying around and on the walks and ceiling.I then went to the front desk and asked for the spray they didn't deliver and was told that house keeping was closed and to come back in the morning.i told them that I was going to sleep in the lobby. They then gave me a huge blanket and said for me to cover myself from head to toe and they would take care of things until the morning.Im glad I brought insect repellent and littelery covered my entire body with It !!! I then covered myself with the blanket as they said and needless to say....Didn't sleep but a wink!!! Also, the room they set me up in was a the end of their prosperity on the line with a shabby fence separating me from the jungle. The room had nonfunctional AC controls ! As I was returning to my room that evening to retire, i can around the corner to find a security guy tucked in the corner of my building which anyone would have freeked out for he was in a dark space.I then learned from him that he was going to stay all night because the locals come to their properity to rob the guest!!! As I watched him for a while from my window, he kept quietly walking up and down the side of the fence stoping and listening for intruders. Thank God I was there for only one night! The bottom line is! If you value your life....STAY AWAY! I will be posting this on YouTube soon!

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: Wifi strength
Mediocre 2,0
Pros: Food
Cons: No hot water. Wi- fi dont work
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Very convenient and close to everything which is a plus Very big pool
Cons: Wi-fi is really slow and some days I never had any For 2 days I only got cold water
Mediocre 2,0
Pros: The location convenience to the center of town activities, and the general support staff was friendly.
Cons: The room was infested with acts (unit 305), and the unit did not have an iron (for clothes), or a microwave. The refrigerator was COMPLETELY stocked with items to purchase so I had no room for my on things. And to add insult to injury, I cut my stay shorter than initially intended for these factors (and inconveniently being on a three walk-up floor), and was told I would be charged full price regardless of my legitimate dissatisfaction.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: I am very interesting Location and food, it near by beach/sea, we enjoy it well and meet new peoples.
Cons: Pool - it should be more clean, and no any lights in pool, it very dark in evening.

Okay 4,0
Pros: Not good not worth the price
Cons: No mask were provided kids club was never avaliable or open to stay with kids
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The room was beautiful. I love the orange-color accents on the beds. We had a room on the first level, with a patio area where we could have our "Santo Domingo" coffee in the morning. We were also near the entertainment area, so we could enjoy the music from the showtime.
Cons: Absolutely nothing to complain about. Everything was great! I will stay there again.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Quite satisfied with my Sunscape experience. Staff are super friendly and helpful, many speak English and the service was great. Multiple restaurants with me reservations needed or the buffet all have variety of delicious food.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Your staff was excellent. Your facility is very nice
Cons: Wifi was available only in the public areas unless you upgraded. A lot of the food was seasoned with too much salt
Good 6,2
Pros: The hospitality was very good in all departments, specially the entertainment staff. food on buffet and restaurants was great.
Cons: Front desk staff were friendly but they definitely need training in communicating effectively and accurately with the guest's, to reassure the customer with veracity and understanding for customer satisfaction. Rooms are extremely outdate.
Excellent 8,2
Pros: Staff was excellent, food was great and drinks plentiful. Would stay here for sure.
Cons: Rooms are outdated and no King size beds.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Aftershow and environment
Cons: Took too long to check in
Excellent 8,6
Pros: The staff was great! Loved the shows!

Good 6,0
Pros: Beds
Cons: Staff food
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Loved it!!!!
Cons: Very safe and take all Covid-19 precautions!!!
Poor 1,0
Pros: The view
Cons: The staff needs an overhaul, the room was dirty and full of what looked like pubic hair on the toilet bowl. I complained to the front desk and obviously nothing was done about it. The staff acted as if they were doing you a favor and not wanted you there.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I love this place the room are very clean the staff friendly and professional this a good place to stay I recommended and beautiful jacuzzi beach front amazing
Cons: Nothing everything was perfect
Okay 5,4
Pros: However the beach, swimming pools, nightly entertainment and the restaurant on the Marina Reef side were the best
Cons: We had a king size bed however, the mattress cover, sheets, blankets and pillows were sized for a standard size bed. As a results we were uncomfortable and did not sleep well. Also in the bathroom we were notified not to drink water from the faucet. For the first day check-in they provided 2 bottles of water for use. However unknown to us we were expected to provide (buy)for all following days water to use. The balcony sliding glass door was almost impossible to secure.

Pros: The beach was ok
Cons: I booked it online and have stayed at puerto Plata about 6 times at different all inclusive resorts with never a problem booking. I booked this stay only to arrive to find the front desk guy saying I booked the room only without food. I said no because it said all inclusive, I never saw a tab or anything, then the guy said for the food it would be $40 US dollars per person per night. This was not what I booked and was not going to pay the $40 per person per night, hell the room was only $222 for both nights, we had 4 people that would put the food at $320. Hell you can get food just in the town for only $200 peso. Not what I signed up for and was very disappointed
