Pros: Every single thing was spot on!!!!! Amazing service, beautiful rooms with heaps of space. The service from the staff was incredible and finally the food was A+ . Probably the best boutique Hotel in Australia.
Cons: Everything was Great
9,2 Excellent
Pros: very attentive staff, personal service, little touches like excellent coffee and breakfast
Cons: Better ventilation in attic room might have been nice, but overall experience was excellent!
7,9 Good
Pros: It is wonderful for a group. The communal spaces can't be beaten. The all-day treats are generous and the breakfast is beautiful. The bathroom seemed to have been recently renovated. The staff are very good indeed.
Cons: We stayed here a few years ago and it was perfect. However, now the furnishings are looking tired and the garden neglected when it should be at its peak-it's Spring. There was a stain on our valance and much of the upholstery needs recovering or a clean, as do the rugs. For the price, I expect better.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great ambiance and architecture.
Cons: Our room was adjacent to parking lot. Loud at night. Minor issue.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location of the actual hotel was very good. Very central. Staff were very polite and helpful.
Cons: The room we were located was very small and too high priced for what we were given. A very disappointing room for the cost. I booked 4 months in advance and was given a terrible room which overlooked other apartments.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, especially if you choose a room with view over the water. This is our second visit, and the staff have all been really helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons: Nothing the hotel can do about it, but the area outside at the front can become rather frenetic when there are cruise ships in town, with cruise visitors milling around assembling for excursions.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location. Staff were wonderful and accommodating. Perfect facilities. Great stay- thank you!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable hotel - loft studios are on two levels giving separate living room area with small kitchen with coffee machine downstairs and loft bedroom upstairs. Well equipped - small details thought of e.g. adaptor plugs Very helpful staff who can book excursions and give helpful advice

Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were outstanding. The location was ideal - close to the harbour and in the middle of the city. The room was comfortable and clean. all in all it was a great choice.
Cons: At breakfast, they allowed the buffet to run down so that if you had a late breakfast there was very limited choice in items available to select. This was one day and may have been an unusual occurrence. But the last in ought to have the same choice as the first since the cost is the same.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Central to everything. Stuff were very helpful and very accommodating was able to check in earlier than expected
8,0 Excellent
Cons: No provisions for smokers. Only option was to stand on the street.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location for city centre and restaurants/main sights. Original 19th century style but updated so all rooms have ensuite bathrooms and aircon + a fridge, tea/coffee etc. Guest laundry in basement brilliant and very reasonable cost. Free loan of iron and ironing board. Off site local car parking provided for extra cost.
Cons: Average breakfast for the price but we were given a promotional 15% discount. Short term (15 mins) drop off only parking outside on the street. No on site parking.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful comfortable bed
Cons: Another lamp would be perfect
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous old-fashioned decor, it is steeped in history. Also the bed is so comfortable ! Supportive but with a beautifully soft mattress topper. A range of pillows to choose from and extra blankets for winter. Staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. A range of teas supplied in rooms and wonderful toiletries. The bar downstairs is gorgeous with a nice selection of drinks and a happy hour on friday afternoon until 6pm.
Cons: Parking is not in the building and is an extra charge. Can't be helped as there is no underground carpark in heritage building. Not too far to walk though.
6,3 Good
Pros: The location and comfort of the apartment including the size and self catering facilities.
Cons: There was only one mirror in the whole apartment and also the lack of sheer curtains on the windows which would have been helpful with privacy. Our apartment faced houses across the road which were on the same level.
6,3 Good
Pros: Staff were very helpful.
Cons: I arrived at around 8:45 pm, and I was told that the kitchen was closed.
5,7 Okay
Pros: Location - it was in the heart of the city and walking distance to the harbour-front, Salamanca Place which made it very convenient.
Cons: View from the windows - from the 4th floor we could not see outside because windows were either facing skywards, or they were at waist level and we had to crouch to look outside. Even then, the view was blocked because building features where right in front of window. Also TV's were old tube style - in this day and age we expected to have at least a 42" flat screen....
8,0 Excellent
Pros: the staff went above and beyond to make my stay great. so friendly and helpful in every area.
Cons: carparking was short, but they did give me alternatives which was great
6,0 Good
Pros: The location. The open fire in the lounge.
Cons: The air conditioner in our room was inoperative.
6,0 Good
Pros: A beautiful carefully renovated building, with a lovely ambience, and friendly and relaxed staff.
Cons:
7,2 Good
Pros: I loved the traditional decor and the old world charm
Cons:
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and the hotel was interesting. The room was very comfortable.
Cons:
4,4 Okay
Pros: We enjoyed the location of the hotel because it was very easy to get around.
Cons: I felt the word "superior room" was very over rated, I felt like it was no more than a standard room. The mat in the shower/bath was discusting I would expect to see that standard in a hotel in the back of Australia. The cups were not washed and someone had used the sample bottle of moisturizer and put it back. The tables in the foyer had definetly not been wiped down for quite a long time as there were glass marks and dirt all over it which was very obvious when the light was on it.
7,6 Good
Pros: Convenient to central Hobart and sights
Cons:

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Had everything we needed and staff were great!
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: It is an amazing location, the staff were wonderful, and the cafe below was fantastic
Cons: We were extremely disappointed to pay a premium price for a stunning loft apartment, we were sold by the promise of views, stunning furnishings and most of all, a free standing bath in which we could relax- the ultimate luxury. Upon checking in, we found instead, no bath, but a sub standard, dated and stark bathroom, with an inbuilt bath and the personality of a morgue- not quite the luxury we had expected from the photos of the penthouse loft we had been presented on the website. Upon booking, we were told the free standing bath is only available in one of the penthouse lofts, and can only be booked by request. To say we were disappointed was an understatement, especially considering the options that cost a lot less in Salamanca would have presented a much better option than what we expected. The staff were wonderful, and expressed dismay, as this is a common complaint amongst guests of most rooms- that they don’t present as they do on the website. We understood there was nothing they could do, and indeed it was a management issue. But I would not suggest anyone book with the expectations of what they see on the website.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Was a very nice hotel with beautiful room. Just a little overpriced could have found just as nice a room elsewhere with out the price tag. In the photos the view looked amazing with big glass windows. But that would only be in specific rooms at the back of the hotel looking onto the park. But was a very nice clean beautiful room.
Cons: Just a little overpriced and the view in the pictures where from the back rooms not the one we stayed in.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: What a great location. Walk to most local attractions, easy to get to restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Anything we needed they were helpful with.
Cons: Nothing we can think of.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: I was most impressed with the facilities and location of this hotel. Right in the heart of wonderful pubs and restaurants, walk to Hobart’s CBD and Wharfs. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. We found overnight parking right outside. The cafe for breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location security
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent receptionist - personality made for the job!
Cons: For that amount of $ we were disappointed with view, set up of appartment too was a little strange

Pros: The location is great, an easy drive to downtown and also to the airport. The laundry facilities were decent (they have detergent there), and the kitchen/snack space was lovely. The house itself is nice, and has a lovely recorded history.

Pros: Lovely historical property
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Great facilities. Beautiful home
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay. Room was extremely comfortable and had a very nice 4 poster bed. Breakfast was excellent and all staff were very pleasant. There is also a very nice garden and ample car parking. On arrival we were given a personal folder with details of the hotel and various local sights and amenities, A very nice touch. It advertises itself as as a bed and breakfast but it is of a higher standard than many mid range (3 or 4 star) hotels which we have stayed in. Would definitely stay there again if opportunity ever arose.
Cons: Nothing really bar bit more detail of what is available on TV
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Clean. The owner was very helpful.
Cons: The room was small.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hot breakfast between 8am-9am was great. Having access to the coffee machine, hot water, and kitchen area were also nice amenities. The house itself was well appointed.
Cons: On our final night, other guests and their children were very noisy in the hall around 11pm--slamming doors, running through the corridor, talking (basically yelling) in the lounge. After a short word with them, they were quiet.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place for a comfortable stay within easy reach of Hobart centre, as well as easy drive from the airport...

5,4 Okay
Pros: Staff was polite.
Cons: We found the studio apartment room to be drab, underwhelming and uninspiring. Definitely not worth the cost. Rooms and fixtures are dated. It was not a pleasant room to spend time in. Bed was fairly hard, linens were nothing special. Shower was broom closet size and difficult to turn around in.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly, comfortable beds. Thank you!
Cons: Spa bath was dirty
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Loft apartment layout was great with separate toilet, washing machine and dishwasher. The historic touches throughout the complex with a nod to the building’s origins were very well done and a great point of difference
Cons: I was a 38 degree day in Hobart and the aircon didn’t circulate up to the loft very well so it was really hot despite the aircon making the rest of the apartment cool
6,5 Good
Pros: Like the location.
Cons: The mattress on the bed was terrible. Supposed to be a queen, but was to smaller beds pushed together. The mattress was old And uncomfortable with a new pillow top on it. Might as well have got a room with two singles. Informed staff at checkout that didn't seem to care at all. Probably the last time I'll stay there. Disappointing.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Customs House Hotel, you'll be centrally located in Hobart, within a 5-minute walk of Salamanca Market and Salamanca Place. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
5,1 Okay
Pros: Can't go wrong with the location. Right near the Salamanca Market, the MONA ferry, restaurants, bars, even the MOFO Festival (which I wasn't in town to attend)...
Cons: The room I stayed in (Room 1) was DIRECTLY over the bar and overlooked the sidewalk where bar patrons hung out all night. I am NOT a light sleeper, but this was a tough couple of nights even for me. The bar sing-a-longs were frequent and boisterous and the live music was quite loud. The room itself was barely a step up from a hostel--not that I've ever stayed in one, but everything (furniture, bed coverings, carpets, etc.) was shabby and seemingly second-hand. I didn't do much researcher for alternatives in Hobart because the Customs House seemed so
7,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great but took 25mins to serve a yogurt parfait which made it a bit tight for us to get to our bus on time. Great location.

Pros: Wonderful location , quite steep hill getting to building so may be less suited to elderly guests. Great to have small bottle of real milk provided. Kitchenette well equipped.
Cons: Room very tired looking, over parking entrance and on main road so very noisy. Reception , lounge, breakfast etc in separate building across the road. I'd suggest you pay a bit more and stay in the main building.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Really couldn’t get a better location. Easy walk to everything - Battery Point village, Salamanca Market, heaps of restaurants and bars, Brook St Wharf, and even the Botanical Gardens are only a 30 minute walk away). Appartments have a seperate living area away from the bedroom as well as a full kitchen and dining room so it’s easy to get take away if you can’t be bothered with a restaurant. Highly recommend Kotasen Japanese restaurant which is a 3 minute walk away for a very quirky eating experience and amazing food. Great property with really comfy beds.
Cons: Appartments were a little dated although clean and comfortable.

Pros: Great location, 5 min walk to Salamanca markets and walking distance to nice restaurants. There is free street parking on weekends nearby. Very very space and the high ceilings are nice.
Cons: For the price the rooms feel slightly outdated and need a bit of a freshen up. Fridge in one room was not working and mattresses were very old and basically sunk into a hole when you lied down.

5,4 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: View of the car park. Only one chair in the room and we booked for a couple. Very small room and bathroom, especially for the price we paid. No room to put our toiletries in the bathroom. No restaurant for dinner.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Good location but I will not stay at Mantra on Collins in the future due to the bad experience.
Cons: Very poor price/service ratio. We paid 600 something for the king bad room which is tiny. Breakfast was poor with few available choices. Particularly, we felt really bad about the service attitude of the staff at the cafe. For breakfast, I picked a fruit salad bowl where I found some rancid nuts. I raised the issue with the staff who came back with a ridiculous excuse that the walnut was specially made with a strong flavour. I doubt anyone would enjoy a meal with rancid nuts in it. In addition, I think the price for the king size bed room is a ripe-off as free parking should be standard for high-class hotel. However, it is not the case for Mantra on Collins.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Amazing bed
Cons: Wasn't able to stay longer.
7,9 Good
Cons: Parking in the pubic car park for a few hour was $30.

Pros: The room was immaculate and looked freshly painted with new carpet. It was also very comfortable. Lots of hot water in the shower which I love.
Cons: You had to ask for a toaster rather than one bring there. Same with plates. There was no bottle opener.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: There was no ironing board in the unit - We had to use ironing board in the laundry which was very dirty. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks - floors were dirty and rubbish everywhere The hot water tap in the kitchenette was blocked - so no hot water to wash cups etc Hot water in shower changing from hot to cold too often could not regulate most of the time it was cold
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. free parking. Comfortable room, property very clean throughout. Old but homely!
Cons: Only limited breakfast options on site, however, very close to the North Hobart restaurant strip-therefore not a big issue all in all!
3,0 Mediocre
Cons: Mould in the shower. Door knobs hard to open-not lubricated properly. Door hinges squeaky. No cutlery or crockery in room-you had to ask reception for it. No toaster. Had a leaky plumbing issue the first night. No fan in toilet. Security chain fixed to metal door frame with wood screw-loose and not secure. No proactive maintenance that I could see. Beds very uncomfortable and too small.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were newly refurbished, stylish, and everything we needed was provided, e.g. iron & ironing board, microwave & applicable cooking utensils, toaster & kettle, etc. We also had great views across the river to the city of Hobart and Mt Wellington in the background. We had dinner in the newly refurbished Dining Room restaurant onsite, which was truly exceptional! Our server, Elle, was utterly professional and an absolute asset to the Shoreline Hotel. Our meals were also exceptional. We had a wonderful stay!
Cons: I can only think of one thing I didn't like, and that was the bathroom was only partially refurbished, with the shower still in its original 1966 condition, complete with shower curtain. I hate shower curtains!

Pros: The staff were so polite, nothing too much trouble. The room was clean, spacious and had everything you needed.
Cons: Nothing !
5,8 Okay
Pros: Well located for getting about Hobart and the staff were very friendly.
